When is a gritty, hard hitting British police procedural more than just that? Why, when it's also an occult, supernatural, horror of course!!
This was chilling in SO, so many ways, and then to find it was based on a true person! It left me doing the gapey-fish-trying-to-suck-air look at the sheer evil audacity of the hidden perpetrators and at the same time left me wanting to look over my shoulder with the enveloping paranoia. To cap off the perfect spine tingling read was to find the whole set of a series of five books (two of which contain more on the evil character) on special on Kindle for a measly $AUD 3.99. Bonus!!

I think that I have discovered a new favourite author. This one was posted on Facebook by someone who was really enthusiastic about it, so I had to try it.
No regrets.
The writing is great.
The plot, although gory, is very well developed. And the pace is fast. A real page turner. There is no waste of time.
As I said during my “book activity”, some readers may find hard to take it, but I thought it wasn’t that gory, creepy perhaps. I have ordered the first book of this series.

I am a huge fan of the Braddick series so I couldn’t wait to read the next instalment to see what was next for Braddick and his team. As always the author does not disappoint!
From the opening of this story, I knew this was going to be darker than the previous novels. Especially as the body count mounts up and the way that the victims are killed, well it’s something that I won’t forget in a hurry. Word of warning, you may not want to eat whilst reading this book as it is pretty gruesome in parts but boy did i love it!
Braddick and his team are really up against it this time and have to say that without a doubt that this is their toughest case to date. There are a fair few surprises in the story and none of them pleasant. It certainly didn’t go in the direction I had envisioned and it ended up being a lot more of a chilling read that did get me a bit emotional at the end.
Deliver Us From Evil is a dark, sinister and gripping read. There is an added creepiness to it due to the story line. It made me want to read with the lights on so I didn’t feel as vulnerable. I loved that through the authors writing, I got so caught up in what was happening and felt as scared and the fear as some of the characters did. Definitely wasn’t expecting how it all ends which left me with a mix of emotions but as always, another brilliant and compelling read.

Just when you think it would be impossible for Conrad Jones to come up with anything more stomach-churningly gory and nail-bitingly horrific "POW" he does and exceeds the horrors of the previous books in the series. This book can be read as a stand alone but to get the full background of the characters and enhance your reading experience I suggest reading the books in order.

Wow!!!
What an epic read from Jones, this May be the fourth in the series, but a definite standalone
We are introduced to the new case with Braddick in the opening chapters and from there on in it was definitely a tense read.
Jones definitely gave the reader plenty to think about with his storyline and kept the humour within, and the humanity of the victims to the forefront.
The team are truly frustrated at this baffling case and This leads them and the reader in to situations that you wouldn’t want to find yourself in.
I found the pace, characters and writing all combined into a gritty and gripping read.

Wow he has done it again . DI Braddick is back and so are the Nine Angels . How do you fit The occult , murder , sacrifices , body parts in sewers, cannibalism, prostitution, people trafficking, corrupt police, fire , explosions, Grave desecration, and probably more I can't think of into one book . Conrad has done it with this one and it is a brilliant read. As usual a twist towards the end to wrap everything up .

Wow! This is the fourth book featuring Detective Superintendent Marcus Braddick and his DS Laurel Stewart of the Liverpool Murder Investigation Team, and it has become one of my favourite books in a long time. Noisy neighbours are no joke, especially those using power tools in the middle of the night, but the consequences of complaining were far more serious for one resident of Stanley House, a nine floor tower block of flats. A homeless women is reported missing after being seen entering one of the top floor flats some days previous and never emerging again. The police attend and find a horrendous scene including quote "boiled head soup and human chilli". The remains of a man are soon found blocking the rubbish chute and further down a body to match the woman's head is discovered. Alarmingly for the team, many more bodies seem to have been disposed of previously as pieces are found in the drains and disturbing writing is found on the walls of the flat. Reports come in of the sighting of the flat's tenant, one Fabienne Wilder, seen together with an unidentified man. It transpires Wilder is a Haitian refugee who killed her adopted father when she was young and who is rumoured to exert a strange hypnotic power over those who come into contact with, almost draining the life force from them and making them do her every bidding. Together with mounting evidence of satanic rituals and sacrifices the case gets even darker as parts of owner of the flats are also found cooked up. This is only the start of a gruesome sinister case for Braddick and his team, one which places them and every possible witness in mortal danger from the woman's fanatical followers. Nothing is what it appears and it seems no one can be trusted. There is plenty of action, and lots of well written detail, and all the threads come together to make perfect sense. The author keeps up the pace right from start to finish making it a book that is impossible to put down until you reach the thrilling and shocking conclusion. Story telling at its best!!

Wow! This is an intricate, twisted novel about serious crime - much grittier than my usual but l have previously read another by this author, and jumped at the chance to read this one.
When Detective Braddick and his sergeant are called to the first crime scene, even hardened police officers are shocked by what they find. Knowing that they need to get to the bottom of things, they start to gather all the details they can but no matter what is discovered, the feeling haunts Braddick that something is being missed. As the DNA results come in and headway is beginning to be made into the investigation, they - and the rest of the MIT team, along with all other officers who find themselves involved - are shocked to the core at the nauseating and revolting crimes they are dealing with. They are looking for some seriously sick criminals. Will they find them - or will the perpetrators find them first?
For once, the bloody and gory details didn't phase me; they aren't there in a salacious manner but are very much necessary to convey the evil referred to in the title. This is an intense, unpredictable read written by an immensely talented author who incorporates a number of twists and turns into his writing. I don't think anyone could work out where this is heading. It certainly chilled me to the core! And the ending? Shocked and appalled doesn't even begin to describe the emotions which raced through my body. I'm rather in awe at the skill of Conrad Jones in creating such a ghastly, odious catalogue of wrongdoing - yet on the other hand I'm full of admiration at his skill in doing so! An absolutely stunning 5* read and most highly recommended!

When a PC had arrived the smell meant something untoward had possibly happened, so the detectives were called…..here the horror begins…..
They find part of a body……in a pan on the stove…..!

The flats involved are owned by Victoria Theresa May……with a tenant listed as Fabienne…..one of the most disturbing characters I’ve come across for a long while…and her acolytes. The bodies begin to mount up…..is this a serial killer at work or something even more unspeakable?
In the story there is the trafficking of young women, satanism, corruption, murder, cannibalism and depravity in this fast paced, tension filled thriller. There are plenty of twists and surprises to keep you on tenterhooks from start to finish, some tragedy too in this wonderfully dark, so very very dark, read with great believable and likeable (well most of them..) characters…..an absolute credit to Conrad Jones writing, with mentions of current affairs….Brexit.!….that gives this a sense of realism too. I wouldn’t read this at nighttime, just the thought gives me goosebumps….but I’ll still be looking out for the next in the series that’s for sure….

Dark, grisly and utterly absorbing!
What a scary tale this was, a murderous satanic cult spreading its tentacles across all levels of Liverpool society. It wasn't a supernatural tale as such, more a very dark psychological thriller. Cannibalism, human sex trafficking, extreme sadism/masochism, ritual suicide, murder and the sheer terror invoked by one beautiful but, very scary, Haitian woman. What her followers did in her name would strike terror into the hearts of the police and public alike. What a book!

An all action fast paced book that shows no mercy right from the first chapter. An interesting and intriguing story based on evil itself. If you like gory then this book is definitely for you, it comes in abundance! The investigation puts the lives of Braddick and Stewart in jeopardy...they are being watched and threatened...the body count is rising, but can they solve this case before more lives are lost? A great build up of tension draws you to an unexpected end.

This series has gone from strength to strength from the beginning to now. This book was dark and gritty and discussed cults, attacks, gruesome murders, and weird goings on. It has to be Braddicks toughest case yet.
I'm not going to give anything away, but I'm not okay with what happened to Braddick. Nuh huh! How? I was yelling at the book. Haha! Anyway, if you like a good crime/thriller then this is a book for you. This one is completely standalone.

WOW! Where to start. Well firstly, another fantastic read from Conrad Jones.
The gruesome and horrific crimes committed were shocking. Detective Braddick and his Detective Sergeant Laurel Stewart are trying to solve these murders. A clever plot and as it unfurled there were many twists, surprises and shocks. I started and finished this book on the same day as I had to know how it ended. Another 5 star read from this author.

Another brilliant read. I love this site author his imagination knows no limits. Can't wait for the next book.

I like jones’s stories but way too wordy. Like a bad Danielle Steele and there is no good Danielle Steele.

If you DON’T have a strong stomach, I suggest you skip this horror-saturated crime fiction.
This police procedural starts off dark, then morphs into a violent, blood-splattered horror vehicle that’s tinged with paranormal and the supernatural. A midsized cadre of Liverpudlian MIT detectives and their cash-starved tech/computer cadre, crime lab, pathologists, etc. carry on as though satanism, voodoo & cannibalism are to be taken in stride. Add: pools of blood, extraordinary amounts of bodily fluids, and grisly crime scenes cleaned by the canny murderers. Plus, sewers clogged with fat, bones, and body parts from multiple victims. Literal walls of indecipherable symbols and script written in blood. There’s NO task force, no specialist police assistance; no queries to British alphabet agencies; no outreach to universities, etc.
I started skimming fairly early on, to get to the end, and write a review. Note that I have a strong stomach and have experience dealing with blood, bone, guts, gore, and dead people.
TRIGGER WARNINGS: horrific murders & methods of body disposal; sex trafficking; BDSM using drugs; cannibal cuisine; starved, dying women; grisly murder w graphic descriptions of damage to body; chain saws; desecration of graves, unearthing and posing long-dead bodies; blowing-up and burning buildings with screaming people inside; full body burns; etc. If your political views are right-ring, you may wish to avoid this book’s version of satanism, schisms and “genuine” Satanism.
Author needs to consult with infectious disease specialists about prion diseases such as Kuru, CJD, variant CJD, etc. Not to mention: incubation period, vectors, and laboratory methods of infecting monkeys.
I DO NOT NOT RECOMMEND this book to the average crime fiction reader, who isn’t steeped in horror fiction, the paranormal and/or the supernatural.

DI Braddick's investigation into a double murder puts him on the trail of a cult, based on voodoo, cannibalism, satanic rituals, people trafficking and beyond the outer limits of where most people would assume fear could ever take them.
Braddick and his sergeant Laurel, soon discover the subject of their manhunt, the cult who call themselves The Nine Angels, have turned it around so the evil guys are tracking down the good guys and vice-versa. It becomes a matter of who gets to who first.
This gruesome tale, almost had me converted into vegetarianism, due to the graphic description of the crime scenes. Other parts were very moving and sometimes very sad.
An enjoyable rollercoaster of emotions experience, I enjoyed Book 4 of this DI Braddick series which can be read as a standalone.

“Deliver Us from Evil” by Conrad Jones is some book! It is truly a tale about devilish black evil. We meet a character who goes beyond even psychopathy, if such a thing is possible.
D.I.Braddick and his partner D.S. Laurel Stewart are called to a murder, but end up with more than they had bargained for. Here on, there will be multiple bodies in a devastated condition. Their efforts to try and discover the ‘why’ of this murder lead them to explore dark powers. But now the search for the ‘who’ gets more complex. And while they struggle, the ghastly trail of blood rages unstopped.
There are ghoulish scenes in the book, but if you manage to get through them, “Deliver Us from Evil” is unputdownable.

Another sad ending!
I don't know why this author loves these horrifically sad and violent endings, but they work, don't they? This book captured me and wouldn't let me go! I have studied Wicca and paganism, and they are NOTHING like this, that's for sure ! The twist and turns are spellbinding and horrific, and of course violent. It wouldn't be Conrad Jones writing of it wasn't! I highly recommend the whole series, and so Mich makes more sense when you start from the beginning. You also get more attached to the characters, and can even feel their emotions, and feel tears for them!

It wouldn't be Conrad Jones writing of it wasn't! I highly recommend the whole series, and so Mich makes more sense when you start from the beginning. You also get more attached to the characters, and can even feel their emotions, and feel tears for them!

Amazing, disturbing and sad.
Another fantastic read from Conrad Jones
As always great characters, I love how you can never tell who's good and who's bad until Jones reveals the true character, those you don't suspect because you've come to know them and trust them in earlier stories then bam! They murder someone out of the blue.
As with the Alex Ramsey series i have thoroughly enjoyed the Braddick series. Thank you Conrad Jones for these amazing books, I look forward to reading more😁

The last part of the quartet featuring Insp. (Now Superintendent) Braddick. Right from the get go I felt this was going to be dark, and it was - the first mention of Haiti confirmed that there was going to be some strange events, and there were. I got drawn into the story early on, and finished it the same day I started. Good believable characters, well developed plot and plenty of twists and turns throughout.

Amazing
Another amazing, thrilling and scary book. It has me gripped from the beginning and I couldn't put it down. Not a happy ending but life can be like that. This is definitely a must read.

Good, but not Great
Really enjoyed reading the Braddock series and although this is still well written I didn’t fly through the book as I usually would. Having said that, the last page explains that a main character is actually a real person and I now need to read the follow up!

I found this book very interesting, certainly was a page turner for sure. A very disturbing topic that made you think about the motive of some of our overly followed news story characters. I found the pace rather good for most of the book, but a little rushed towards the end.
