A witch at a vampire masquerade ball? What could go wrong?
I’m Dani Warren, a witch with a secret: I possess illegal demon magic. My secret was safe, until Conor Ramsey, a hot member of the Magic Council, found out. So far, he hasn’t turned me in, but I’m expecting to be dragged to the dungeon any minute now.
Meanwhile, I promised to attend a vampire’s annual gala in exchange for a favor. The dress code is fancy and the guest list is a who’s who of the local vampire scene. My plan? Get in, show my face, and get out.
Then someone murders a vampire lord with my sword. Now I have to find the killer before the murder is pinned on me and the vampires take revenge.
And, just when I think things can’t get worse, Conor shows up.
Man, this is going to be a long night.
Demon Magic is book 4 of the Brimstone Magic Series, a fast-paced, suspenseful urban fantasy series with elements of humor and romance.
Tori Centanni is a nerd girl and a recovering goth. She likes dark, quirky stories with elements of humor. When not reading or writing, she can be found baking, watching too much television, and wrangling cats. She lives in the Pacific Northwest.
Dani Warren and her vampire landlord, Silas, attend a vampire Halloween masked ball, hosted by the vampire leader of Pacific Northwest. The party turns dire soon, when it is clear that someone is killing the guests...
This is basically a closed-door murder story... all the suspects are those attending the ball. It's quite quick and straightforward. But I was a bit disappointed that there wasn't enough progress with Dani and Conor... especially since the last book, Conor found out about Dani's demon fire ability. Majority of the scenes has Conor avoids Dani, or still holding on his rigid stance about demon fire = evil.
But at least there were more of Silas this time around. I really liked that vampire landlord 😊
The next book is the final installment of the series. Hopefully we finally have something of Dani and Conor 🤞🏼
Picking up about six weeks after the end of book three, we find Dani having to attend a vampire’s Halloween party, in order to fulfill the agreement she made with Lady Vera (book 2 I think). Unfortunately, the party is disrupted by a murder, and Dani is tagged to discover who the culprit was.
There are some rather momentous events in this book, for Dani and for some other characters too. The story is very much a mystery within an urban fantasy/paranormal tale, and it’s fun to watch Dani try and solve it with the help of her friends. It’s a fast paced story, with lots of action and a little less magic than the previous books (after all, we are dealing with vampires rather than witches). It’s an enjoyable read, and sure to appeal to fantasy mystery fans.
I am enjoying the brimstone series quite a bit...it’s just that the books are much shorter than I usually read and I hope the overall plot gets advanced a little more in the next book.
Anyways I will read the next one to see where a little demon magic can take us
