When you can’t get through a 30 page book you got for free, you know it’s garbage. This was absolute, total garbage. I’m not sure if the author was deliberately trying to make this bad, but for all the terrible crap I’ve subjected my husband to, he’s never refused outright to hear anymore 🤣.
I need to go bleach my eyes now, bye.

I saw my friends reading the author's books and I found out they're safe so I tried this one. I'm glad I did because the story is really good except for a scene at the beginning. Everything that happened between the H and h was so fast. Instalove.
The story is about Melvin "Anvil" and Sarah.
She's studying actuarial science and he's a bouncer at Billy's Suds, the place they first met.
He doesn't believe in love and love at first sight but the first time he laid eyes on her, he felt something strong for her.
It's a cute short story and it has a nice epilogue.

On a night out, underage Sarah frequents a dive bar with her friend. When her friend gets kicked out, bouncer in charge, Anvil, makes it clear that Sarah will be staying. And he will ensure that she fulfills her original plan of being wild for the evening.
Now envision a tattooed beast of a man with an eye patch losing his sanity over a girl he just met. Not to mention his filthy mouth that had him scoring major points with me. Oh and a virgin good girl just waiting on the right moment to be defiled.
I may not believe in love, but I do believe we are all just animals. And this beast just discovered his mate.
Knowing I’ll be first makes it all the better.
Fuck me, but I think I’m going to be her last, too.
Sarah is initially distrusting when it comes to Anvil, but no red blooded women could resist his charm or sophistication...
Only, damn if I don’t think it’s sexy, her little judgement of me. She likes clutching pearls so much, I’d be happy to give her a pearl necklace.
Considering Bounced felt like only a handful of pages, it was completely over the top, yet perfectly amusing and dirty. It also had a great little epilogue I adored.

I needed some quick reads for a couple of my freebie challenges this month and this one fit the bill.
I hadn't expected a backstage tour of the road house, and under other circumstances, I might have been more intrigued since the reason I was here tonight was curiosity.
Normally, I'm a good girl. I follow the rules. Rules made by other people and rules I make for myself. Like I might even say rule-following is my super power. I'm studying actuarial science because I think it's fun. That's how risk averse I am.
But I've been feeling sort of... restless... lately. I thought maybe if I did something just a little crazy, a little less me, I could shake it off. Feel normal again.
I have to say that though this is a contemporary romance novella, certain things the hero says and does make me think of a possessive, protective alpha shifter who has met his mate.
He spares a glance at Romeo and Juliet and then focuses his dark gaze on me.
I feel like I'm on a stage under a hot spotlight. It's maybe just a moment, but I swear the only thing I can hear is his breathing. Like time is standing still except for the two of us.
From the moment he sees her, she's it, she's all, done deal.
The air gets thick between us. I'm feeling like we're about to do a super slow motion fight scene from The Matrix. Only I don't want to fight this girl. I think I want to marry her.
This is the most f*cked up day.
So be warned, the instalove (and ensuing dirty talk) is all over this thing and then some, but the author's note (which acknowledges exactly what this tale is) paved the way for a read/listen that made me laugh at times with the OTT craziness of it all...
"You're here because you want to risk something tonight and still be safe. I'm the only man in this world who can make that happen for you. You can be as crazy as f*ck. Do whatever you need to do, and I'll make sure you're safe. I'm the best risk averse choice you've ever made."
She can't read me yet. She doesn't know she's got all the control here. I'm already a f*cking puppet for this woman.
Some of the exchanges/interactions in this one are pretty crude (and made me roll my eyes for various reasons... ).
Thankfully, the main couple also had some sweet moments too.

For those of you who might be interested in giving this a whirl (as in whirlwind), the audiobook was narrated by Kale Williams and Lisa Zimmerman, and is 52 minutes long.

This book right here is why I always liked shifter PR. That whole ‘MINE!’ situation is sexy as hell. -“I’m not scaring you, angel. Your own desires are scaring you because they’re new. Once you give in to them, you’ll be changed. That scares the shit out of you.” I lean down and smell the skin of her throat. Mine. “But you’re not scared of me. We both know I’m not going to hurt you.”
I’ve never highlighted so many passages in so little time. I’ve never read Brill Harper but I can tell you this, she can certainly pack a punch.
Holy hell, this man runs his dirty mouth more than anyone I’ve ever heard. And I’m loving every second of it.
And that epilogue? Everything I never knew I wanted. 😻

My lawd.. *fans myself* this was so hot, whew..
Safe, insta love, VERY short, not much plot but for what it was, it was a great read all wrapped up in a wonderfully hot package.
Also loved the fact that the H became a stay-at-home dad while the h completed her studies. Gotta love and respect heroes like this one.

Really hot!! This was a good quick smutty read. Not much depth, but enough to keep me reading and smiling by the end. Cute epilogue! I've been avoiding the older H's with virgin h's lately, but this one worked for me :) Great OTT, possessive, dirty talking talking H. The h was fine and did not have the pushover immature vibe found in some books. Entertaining read that finally got me out of my DNF slump.

An eye patch??
These short, over-the-top, dirty stories only work if the main characters are appealing. The Hero having an eye patch and anvil for fists is not appealing. The heroine wasn’t much better with a flat personality. Things you might like would be a dirty talking hero who’s very possessive.

DNF, and this is only 40 pages.
-eye patches are not sexy to me, sorry. I'm sure if it were a longer book, I could fall in love with the hero, but in a romance novella, I need the hero to be hot.
-the heroine stayed in the room while her friend gave a strange man a blow job. WTF?
-the heroine was overall just an idiot. Nothing she did made any sense.
-they got married after knowing each other a few hours, they didn't love each other, they weren't drunk or high... It made zero sense, and I can suspend my disbelief quite a bit for novellas, but this was too much for me.

This is one short funny fast-paced sexy hot read. It's actually weird but good cause it's insta love for Anvil and Sarah.
I just totally loved Sarah's expression in this book especially to do with badass Anvil this guy rocks hotness to a T and it cracks me up these two.

This is like the shortest novella, yet packed with everything. I especially loved the Epilogue!!
If you can handle insta-love, bullet marriage, sexy eye-patched bouncer (used to serve in military. SCORED!), all big and hard (dayum!), and just caveman towards his woman, then, read this book!

Dayum....these two, hhhmmm, hhhmmm *sheak my head*. This book was just so damn hot. Pretty sure he is the king of dirty talk *fanning self*. She's just a few days from being 21 and her friend tells her she can get them into a club. They get caught by one of the responsible or more strict bouncers and he, well he keeps her, I guess is the best way to say it. She's young, innocent and very responsible....but he wants her and she wants him....chemistry is chemistry. They go out and end up getting married....yup, that night, which I freaking loved.
Then there was an Epilogue two years in the future and he's a stay at home daddy *fanning myself....again*.....so damn hot and they are madly in love. Definitely stalking...err following this author. Absolutely loved this f*cking book.

This is a very short read. It is instant everything. Insta love, marriage and sex withing 24 hrs. Even though the story is short, you get a little clue on the personalities of the characters. If you like short sexy reads this is for you.

Very short, and pretty much exactly as the blurb described. I wish that some of the glossed over details of their night together had happened on page, but it was still an enjoyable read without it. The audiobook was great, bringing the characters to life for this quick read.

3 stars. I was hoping for more after reading Plowed from the same series, but this is a pretty standard OTT steamy instalove novella. Fun and easy to read, but not particularly memorable… It's a short lived sugar rush, but I guess there's only so much you can do in less than 40 pages.
