A Kate Kelly cozy mystery. The book chronicles an engagement farce and the upcoming celebration that turns into a weekend of murder, fires and threats.
Underwear model Brent, while very attractive is sometimes short on brain power. Kate accepts his proposal to act as his fake finance during a family weekend in Lexington, KY on a horse farm. From their arrival things go bad! You have a dysfunctional family, Kate’s sleuth intuition lurking about the farm, a dead burnt body, a dead champion horse and lots of players who are deceitful during the festivity.
Young’s characters are funny and witty and you can’t help but like them. You almost forget the bloodshed as you read the entertaining story.
This is the second book in the Kate Kelly series, when she poses as a fiance, and winds up in trouble. A good easy cozy read. I don't know what happened to her, since she wrote only two books.
