Rate this book

60 seconds.

That’s how long it takes to dispel stereotypes in Mexico. Throw a house party for strangers in Israel. Change perspectives in Nebraska. Make friends in Japan. And connect millions of people all over the world.

In 2016, Nuseir Yassin quit his job to travel for 1,000 consecutive days. But instead of the usual tourist traps, Nas set out to meet real people, see the places they call home, and discover what unites all of us living on this beautiful planet—from villages in Africa and slums in India, to the high-rises of Singapore and the deserts of Australia. While he journeyed from country to country, Nas uploaded a single 60-second video per day for his Nas Daily Facebook following to highlight the amazing, terrifying, inspiring and downright surprising sh*t happening all over the world. Thirteen million followers later, Nas Daily has become the most immersive travel experience ever captured, and finally shows us what we’ve all been looking for: each other.

AROUND THE WORLD IN 60 SECONDS is Nas’ surprising, moving, and totally unpredictable 1,000-day world tour in book form. At times a striking portrait of the most uncharted places in the world, at others a touching exploration of the human heart, this collection of life-affirming stories and breathtaking photographs changes how we think about humanity and invites us all on a journey to see the world, and each other, anew.

A beginners guide to the world. I was put off at the beginning of the book as he took a joy ride in an ATV on the environmentally delicate Easter Island, used drones illegally and takes lightly being banned from one of the most at risk environments of the world. He spends a lot of time promoting unity and other worthy causes, but for me it wasn’t enough to overcome.

Writing applications as an Israeli like:

For my Korean paperwork, Israel is an innovative Asian country, totally cultural siblings. Our fellow OECD partner, we are so developed.

For my European applications, Israel is a war-torn Middle Eastern country. Have I mentioned that I've lived through several wars?

I have zero shame.

Review to come, one day!

Nas has a new fan. I have not seen his videos, but I plan to change that as soon as I have a minute. I'm envious of his adventures and look forward to sharing them online.

I accidentally ran into Nas Daily's videos on Facebook some years ago, when Nas began his 1000 day quest around the world. His videos are fun, interesting and inspiring. He presented almost a whole world and its people challenging many missconceptions. When me and my wife (who is very keen on Nas videos as well) have seen that he will launch a book with his adventures, we said - how cool is that, we ordered it immediately.
The book is well structured into several chapters presenting Nas's travels and thoughts about the places and people he and his companions have visited. A very enjoyable and interesting read. I liked also the overall aspect of the book, the graphics, photos. A beautiful and useful window into the World and its diversity.

The power and beauty of people. The good, the bad and everything in between. Celebration of diversity among people around the world in little tidbits of stories.

A fun, interesting and adventuresome read. The author is a compelling character, a Muslim from Israel with an infectious smile and an incredibly optimistic outlook on our troubled world. He travels the planet making 1 minute videos about the people and places he experiences. His videos are inspirational and fun to watch. He is young and still naive about the need for borders and the evils of socialism, a system he believes in and espouses in the book even though it has never worked anywhere it’s been tried. Even Sweden has moved away from it. Luckily the politics was only a small part of the book.

I bought the book due to Easter Island pages. The book has beautiful pictures, nice experiences explained, interesting facts but I could have skipped the book. I admired the courage to discuss the topics you usually do not discuss with strangers: money, politics and religion but I would say a travelling book(even if he says is not a travelling book) could have skipped these topics.

I was very disappointed when I watched the short movie about my country. He had no plan at all for those days, he even followed some guys who were travelling by car from UK to Mongila, maybe due to the free ride. Also I was disappointed that he did 2 weddings just for the fun of it, not for real, one in India and one in Papua New Guinee. Who does weddings for fun that are not real maybe just to try first hand the local traditions?

I would like my money back on the book, please!

I wanted to like this book so much, but I didn't, no matter how hard I tried.
I watched a few of Nas Daily's videos online (but not all, so can't really count myself as a follower), but this book feels lacking. It does follow the premise that his chapters/stories are short, but instead of it being about the destination, a lot of it centered around people and seems like they're just pulled from his videos instead of new material.
It would have been great if the basis of the book was from new material, but it wasn't, so it's like a text version of the videos, which I was disappointed in. Thought it will tell more about the journey itself and his plans after the daily one-minute videos but nah.

There aren’t many reviews on this book here so I thought I’d add one! Nuseir (Nas) has intrigued me since day 1 of seeing his content on Facebook. Seeing all of his stories and videos turned into a book was a real treat! It’s an easy read and you can hear his voice in every word. He definitely keeps it genuine with full transparency and I loved that about this book. Definitely worth the quick read!

For those who are unaware- Nuseir yassin

I heard of him for the first time on- Curlytales (
Loved the way he speak about stuff. hear him
His enthusiam is quite infective!

I went ahead and watched couple of his videos.
Again impressed.

Now come this book.
I couldn't rate it even after several attempts. It is mostly video summery of some of his video. Word by word ! I felt that was kind of cheating for readers. Shows the lacklustre attempt of author. I couldn't make sense of the fact why author attempted to put this together. Was is to categorise his certain experinence? Could have just simply categoried his playlist with said titles!
If it was an attempt to have a photobook, it was a failure again. Just couple of photos. In them only the cover photo is impressive!
I had my full of his reference to his ethnicity and citizenship issue. There is always a way to frame same ans or reference is different ways if I am not wrong.
This is his best out of 1000 days daily video self challenge.

To sum-
A stone being skipped across the lake.

(Metaphor I learned from one of the reviews)

One of those time where you are in fix where you want appreciate something which is impressive in one medium but totally blah in another medium.

From getting a Harvard degree to leaving his high paid job for making videos and to travel the world – Nuseir Yassin is a character who’s inspiring millions of people throughout the world. And after reading his book “Around the World in 60 Seconds” I am even more inspired to find the purpose of my life. Without any doubt this book is a gem. Although most of the stories are from his videos but you can know about a bit more details of those stories. Some of the stories blew my mind and changed my perspective about life.
What I knew that in India there are a lot of slums. But the thing I did not know that the people of Dharavi – the largest slum in Asia, is generating up to $1 billion a year! I was amazed after reading about the kindness of people of Newfoundland and Philippines. The unimaginable forgiveness of the people of Rwanda – who were able forgive the killers of their family members. The story of two soldiers trying to kill one another in battlefield to becoming friends after many years – resembles why we should fight for peace instead of war. Learning about Selective Empathy to Mountain Test – the book has it all.
“Around the World in 60 Seconds” is more than a typical travel book. It’s a book about people, places and their uniqueness. It will surely motive readers and inspire to explore and see the world from a different point of view. Highly recommended.

I LOVED this book! Having never seen a Nas Daily video, I wasn't sure what to expect. This humanitarian is a fascinating individual who did his job and more by giving us a glimpse into many cultures that we may never see ourselves and the stereotypes that surround those cultures. I also loved his raw honesty. He admitted to having his own sterotypes but how we all need to look past those to see the real people involved. His reflections at the end were moving as well. I loved the Nas Stories, little snippets of individuals who made a difference in their country. In a day and age when there is so much negativity and hate, it was good to see positive stories about people who rise above their circumstances. I feel like I can't adequately describe how wonderful this book really is; you'll just have to experience it yourself! I could go on but I'll just close with I recommend this book wholeheartedly. There are wonderful photos to go with the encounters. Enjoy.

A drone's eye view, if you will. Or, old-school metaphor, like a stone being skipped across the lake. I prefer something more in-depth and more grounded, like Factfulness: Ten Reasons We're Wrong About the World – and Why Things Are Better Than You Think. Maybe the videos are better but I'll never know as I'm a reader, not a viewer.

Gail Peters map projection, ili translator (how Star Trek!) and lots of other awesome cheap tech, men (not people!) exercising at Fann Beach, almost every stop being even more awesome than the last... it's a mess of a book. Mostly happy, though, or at least optimistic. Good to dip into while waiting for the covid vaccine so we can travel again. (Too bad this library copy already has come loose from its spine; I think maybe they cheaped out....)

I have been following Nas Daily for quite some time now and really enjoy his videos! I was so sad when he posted his 1000th day so when I found out about this book, I was excited! The photos are beautiful and I could play some of his videos in my head when reading through. This book shows Nas’s experiences and thoughts of his journey, humanity, and history. However, Nas is not a historian and while each place is more than a few pages of his book, he still captured his experiences beautifully. Is it high quality literature? Not exactly, but I did enjoy reading through and hearing Nas’s voice on each page. It’s more of a savory book where you have to stop from time to time to reflect and think. Overall, fun read.

I heard about Nas on social media (though, to be fair, I do not follow him) and checked out this book to live vicariously through someone who has actually got to travel - we are deep into COVID19 right now. This is more than a travelogue. This book looks at the people that makes all of those places interesting and fun. Nas talks about the eco-warriors, the willing activists, the unwilling activists, the people who make their cities and countries a little bit better every day. He looks at the politics, the tourist traps, the pleasant stores, and the unpleasant histories. Through this book, we all get to remember that there is a wide world out there. Hopefully, soon, we will all get to visit it again.

This book is about vlogger Nas Daily and his travels.

In 2016, Yassin quit his job at Venmo and decided to explore the world, with the intention of video-documenting his travels. This resulted in the creation of a Facebook page named Nas Daily ("Nas" means "people" in Arabic), where he would create a video every day for 1,000 days. After meeting Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg in early 2018, Nas Daily was upgraded to "show" status, and, by September 2018, his page had amassed over 8 million followers. By November of the same year, this number had risen to over 10 million.

All the videos are one-minute long and they are posted to Facebook. Yassin said in 2017 that he does not post the videos to YouTube because he believes this to be more lucrative as well as making the experience more personal for his viewers. In 2019 he started to upload old videos of his on his official YouTube channel Nas Daily Official. The videos are shot using an SLR camera with an attached microphone, and are then edited before being released the next day. On average, each video takes around six hours to shoot and three hours to edit. The topics for the videos are based on suggestions provided by his Facebook followers. Each video ends with the tagline: "That’s one minute, see you tomorrow!"

Traveling is beyond that passport stamp! It’s beyond being able to cover each and every country on the globe!
Due to his Israeli passport, Nas cannot travel to each and every country. But he has 0 regrets, he has made the most out of places he’s allowed to visit and he has also made friends even in countries which he’s not allowed to visit!
This book gives a whole new perspective on traveling - meeting people, hearing their stories and taking back a life lesson!
Also recommend listening to his podcast - NasTalks (spotify) and his visiting his Facebook page - NasDaily
More power to you Nas! :)

I loved this book, I feel like it has taught me more about our world than school or the news would ever teach me. Nas is such a well rounded, lovely person who engulfs himself within the culture of whatever country he visits and in turn teaches us valuable life lessons about humanity. He has shown us that there is still good people and hope within humanity even when the news and other media’s portray our world in a hopeless light. He has made me want to venture outside UK boarders and see what the world has to offer myself. This is definitely a book I will be coming back to and I recommend to anyone who wants to find out what our world has to offer.

An enjoyable book that reads quite like a travel show, which was really good for some light reading small moments throughout the day.

It serves its purpose for a light sense of traveling, but at times I wish there was a little more detail to it. To be fair, this is due to the original format of the content being targeted for making 1-minute long daily videos. And there were some interesting and unique stories shared throughout, just few that are easily rememberable.

If you're looking for a light, coffee table style travel book, I would recommend it, just don't expect in-depth details of the locations traveled to (it'll be more like snapshots).

I really loved hearing about Nas' journey from disgruntled office worker to global vagabonder, though I'll be honest in admitting that the primary emotion this book aroused was jealousy! I'm so envious, not because I don't think Nas' lifestyle is unattainable, but precisely because it IS attainable! He just stuffed a drone in his backpack and took off - his fame came later. He clearly didn't set out to see the world just for the 60 second videos - he did it because he loves people!

And now I love him!

I stumbled on Nas Daily maybe halfway through his journey and I wasn’t regular in watching the videos by any means, but they were always interesting and well done. I really enjoyed this book that covered some of his highlights from his travels and also his spotlights on people he met and his moments about realizations that he made.

What can you learn in a 60 seconds? If you have seen one of Nas Daily videos, a lot. For 1,000 days Nusrir Yassin traveled the world and made videos of 60 seconds for each day on the road then posted them to Facebook. This book goes a little deeper into the 1,000 days, with his story and some behind the scenes looking at some of the more interesting places he visited during his journey.

I found this book at the dollar store!! I read it immediately and loved it. Went back to buy copies for some friends and they didn't have any left. I love reading and experiencing different cultures. The author did a great job going off the beaten path and not viewing each country from a tourist perspective.

His lack of respect for locations like Easter Island (illegally flying drones that no doubt diminished the experience for others) and his game of playing at poverty (to the extent of lying about having no money to test the generosity of impoverished people) was sickening. While I agree with a lot of what he says, his arrogant actions speak louder.

I had never heard of “Nas Daily” before I bought this book. I did thoroughly enjoy it. It is inspiring, eye-opening, and educational. It has fun moments and sober moments. My only knock is not feeling connected to or like much of a fan of the author, who is very clearly (and obviously) a big part of the book.
