I don’t know if I’m even going to be able to finish it...I don’t mind dark reads, but this one is just not my cup of tea. The writing is not good for the sexy scenes....I can’t take guys anatomy being called man meat, pricks, etc. Just a bit juvenile in the writing. Ladies are called snatches and channels and things like that. Just found the story tried to use so many different words for the anatomy that it got annoying....I just can’t take man meat and members. Ugh. The story is okay. I want to know what happens, but not sure I care enough to get through the annoying words and descriptions. There is a lot of rape in the book and it got to be a lot. It jumps time a bit and you don’t really know how long, so it got to be confusing as to the change in time and circumstances when we didn’t hear what happened.
The base of the story is ok, but I couldn’t read the entire box set. Each book is about 10 chapters a piece and I don’t feel like they were “books” more like chapters. When you end a book, especially as part of a series, there should be some sense of accomplishment, something that says you’ve at least reached a milestone along the journey, I didn’t get that feeling till maybe the “third book”. And I’m all for hot and steamy sex, but when it serves a purpose. In one of the books we end the book with a war council and then ps a sex scene which wasn’t needed at all it didn’t add to the plot or the characters.
1-3 This story is a wicked dive into the sensual world of the vampire. Be forewarned that this has been designated as a piece of EROTICA for a reason. There are some vivid rape scenes and explicit sexual encounters. These are not your sparkly vampires who live off of the fluffy animals of the forest. These are vampires that are possessive, gritty, dangerous and desperate to keep their species from dying out by whatever means necessary. They can be tender and loving in one moment and violent and ugly in the next. The tale also involves the need for the Druid females who are the only "species" of human that and produce offspring for the vampires. These vampires will acquire the Druid females by any means necessary, and their code of ethics does not necessarily coincide with ours.
The vampires in this series are exactly what I expected them to be. They are driven by their basest natures to alleviate their needs and search for the women who will mean their survival. I personally love how intricate and descriptive Marata Eros writes. She has a fluidity that carries through from one volume to the next. I always know who my characters are, what drives them and how far they are willing to go to get to where they are destined to be. The scenes are set and the surroundings are spelled out. Sometimes, the writing makes me laugh, sometimes cry, and sometimes I'm disgusted or angry. But, it always draws an emotion from me, and that is why I read. The writing takes me on an unpredictable adventure. I was thoroughly entertained and look forward to reading more of the series.
4-6 I found this one to be more exciting and erotic than the first set of three. Characters return, and some are lost, plus there are some new additions that bring an entirely new layer to the story. It's mysterious, romantic, dangerous and erotic. We learn so many new things about these different vampire kisses and where some of our characters originated. It never slows and is ever changing. There were moments of sadness that we overcome by moments of pure ecstasy. Each of the characters has their own story, and it is a wonder how Marata Eros blends them into a brand new one. I've already bought the next set, because I need to find out what happens to everyone. This is another dangerous thrill ride that I'm not ready to disembark!
7-9 Though this next part in the series begins with Imogen, High Druid Priestess, and the Reaper vampires, Baird, Quinn and Carrig breeding on the sacred stone, we actually get an explanation of the reason for this particular "coupling." We discover why this blood ritual is necessary and what it means to each sect also. Of course, none of these things can happen without conflict. And, this conflict begins with the male Druids and invites other "species" we have yet to hear from within the series. The story shifts to the need to breed the queen, Siana, by Baird and how their relationship changes throughout their chaotic journey. Keep in mind, this set, in the series is infused with plenty of sex and erotica. Vampires, along with any of the other mythical creatures mentioned in these kinds of fantasy novels, act on their base instincts of which sex is primary. However, as thick as the sexual tension is, the story overshadows it in exactly the manner necessary to make this a thrilling adventure and one that kept me on the edge of my seat. I am looking forward to seeing what happens next in this exciting series.
10 TITUS I get a bit emotionally involved with some of these characters, so I was so glad to see Altho and Seraphina help Titus recover, barely even taking into account what they had to risk in order to do it. Dealing with a Faction is always a risk.
It was exciting to revisit a few of my favorite characters, Marquette who belongs with Titus, Mavis who is discovering that there is one who might accept her in her lesser Druid form, Mathis. Cyndel is such a horrible creature with a powerful secret, and he always feels the need to take his anger out on the weaker sex.
This is a novel full of intense erotica that isn't always palatable. These are vicious vampires who were born with two imperatives, to feed and breed. Neither is always pleasant, but both are necessary for their race to continue. And, Druid females, who are a rare breed of female, are the key to their survival.
With this series, we never run short of characters we love to hate and some that we feel pity for and cheer on when they arrive where they're destined to be. Tucked in the darkness are moments of love and joy. This one was just as dark and dangerous as the rest of the series but holds some poignant moments. It answers questions we've been dying over since the last book and leave doors open for another book to follow.
I loved it and recommend that anyone wanting to read it start at the beginning. It's an intricate tale with many interesting facets. Thank you for inviting your readers to join you on this dark adventure. I look forward to the next one.
I’ve read a fair share of dark romance and I usually enjoy the majority of them. Some are great, some are more disappointing… this one takes the cake!! I wish I didn’t have to leave it even a one star rating. It jumps around from so many different perspectives that it left me confused more than anything. Less is more! Less is more! The characters were horrible and the plot flimsy. I went from slightly liking one or two of the characters to having a hard time not rolling my eyes as I tried to get through just one more chapter. If your going to have convictions stick to them do not waffle back and forth just because someone suddenly tells you you’re part of a prophecy! I find it funny how quickly Rachael’s view point changed and how she pushed her younger sister into a situation that Holly specifically told her she was scared of. I managed to get through the first book Druid, but I couldn’t force myself to go on. I’m all for a reverse harem situation, but this one did not reach the mark. I’m an avid reader always looking for a good author to binge read, unfortunately this book just completely turned me off this author. This book was NOT worth the read.
Sometimes I read the synopsis, and sometimes I don’t; as I want to be surprised. Sometimes it’s the cover art alone. In this case it was 6 volumes of Vampire. I was surprised by the strong characters and the blending of scene settings. I was just as surprised by the erotica; as every other chapter was graphic and explicit. Who knew that common acts could be described in so many ways…. The only detractor for me was the plot switch halfway thru. There was only one character of note that made into both halves. I’m sure the sagas will continue in other of this authors books.
I was disappointed in this book after about the 3rd or 4th chapter. I would begin to like a character and he would be killed off. After the second one I started wondering who would make it but gave up. didn't warm up to the female characters. Over the top sex, would have been nice to get to know the h but another violent killing, forced sex, repeat. I'm not a prude but just got tired of it. Deleted from my kindle. Too much for limited space.
This is very dark. It's practically pure rape but I guess because the women enjoy it then it's ok. Yeah, a turn on at times, but as a woman it bothered me. One other big problem, all the mistakes in the spelling, added words that shouldn't be there or missing words. God, I see this so much! I'd love to be a proofreader but don't know how this would happen. Do authors just never read it over? Even once? Not happy with authors!!!
The story line was very repetitive, throughout the entire series….i almost dnf! There was so much more potential to the story then I feel like should’ve been. Things only mentioned briefly but not followed through and too many characters that were focused on with events that went back in time. Not as organised as I’d liked. For that I gave this overall review a 2.75
This was nothing but a series of books about unconsensual abuse mostly rape and more rape. I finished the first book hoping it would get better, then skimmed thru the second which got worse and tried the third and couldn't go any further.
This is the complete series 10 books and 2 short stories. Vampires, werewolves, demands and druids ( good and evil) are on this box set. This is the stories of the coming of daywalkers. Ok stories some very good and others not so.
Another series ruined by lack of proofreading. Would've been a great read but each book has spelling errors, typos, & sentences that just don't make sense.
