”I have never hungered for blood like I hunger for you”

Callie struggles with the consequences of the slayer's vow while Montana faces a wedding which will deliver her into the hands of the vampire royals forever. But things become more dangerous as the murders escalate in New York City and it seems Montana is next. Will Callie be able save her sister this time?

⤷ OMG THAT ENDING! MY HEART!

⤷ This book was really a big changer for how I feel about Callie and Magnar. I really enjoyed their development and the journey they were facing!

⤷ Eric and Montana just continually break my heart and I have feeling it's going to get worse for them and me!

⤷ Oh Julius, he became one my favorites in the series instantly. I loved his humorous and confident attitude. He reminded me a lot of Jameson, which is a character from Caroline's other vampire series. Really hope we get to read more of Julius!

⤷ I can't believe we are only halfway through the series. I feel like so much has already happened and I can't wait to see what more there is in store!

"Your heart should be your own to give. No matter what path you choose to follow in this life"

These books just get better and better as the story progress. I was on the edge of my seat throughout this book! This is series is totally binge-worthy!

Thank you, Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti, for providing a copy of this book for an honest review! :)

OK, this was my favorite book so far. Soooo many things happened and the writing definitely got better and closer to what I was expecting from Caroline Peckham and Susanne Valenti. So glad I picked this series up!

》》The Plot《《

With Callie taking the vow to become a slayer, the relationships between her and Magnar takes a completely new form as they journey to New York to save her sister. Of course, things don't always go according to plans, especially after the Royals figure a few things out about the prophecy, so Callie finds herself sooner than expected in New York and with a new fiancée in toe: Fabian. In the meantime, Montana tries to sort out her feeling regarding her legacy as a slayer, her feelings for Erik and her new position as his fiancé, just as a new player enters the scene and kidnapps her: Julius, Magnar's brother. Throw Valentina, the ex-slayer who turned vampire and can control the weather into the mix, and the situation gets as tangled as possible.
Things heat up on a lot of levels, gods show up for interventions and a wedding coated in love, revenge, ambushes and betrayal gives us a new cliffhanger and new ties between the characters.
Just like in the previous book, the POVs are shared between Callie and Montana, with a few chapters from Magnar and Erik narrating the past.

》》Characters and Relationships《《

🤺👩🏼Magnar and Callie

He leant towards me but didn’t try to touch his lips to mine. “We will be bound by our cause, forfeiting all other ties,” he breathed bitterly,
“You mean we can’t be together?” I asked, horror running through me. I hadn’t even known the words of the vow before I’d spoken them, how could I have realised what I’d be giving up when I made my decision?
“No. We can’t.”

With Callie having taken her vow and Magnar forced to become a mentor, their romantic situation hits pause, due to the rules set by Idun that force them apart, which turns their relationship to a new level of slow burn and torturous forced proximity. They are clearly attracted to one another, but also irritated by each other's choices that have lead to this moment.

"I would sooner have your face precisely as it is.”
“You’d just like my breasts to be bigger then?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.
“I never said that.” He frowned at me in confusion and I rolled my eyes.
“Well they were definitely bigger in your dream and I wasn’t the one who made them that way.”
Magnar laughed. “I am yet to see your breasts so I’ll have to wait to pass judgement on that.”

That's not to say they can't find loopholes and, apparently, Callie being a dream walker can be rather helpful. And their banter and teasing definitely grows more exciting.

👩🏼🧑🏽‍💼Callie and Fabian

“Callie,” he breathed as he reached me. “Words cannot adequately describe how you look; you take my breath away.”
“That’s not exactly a compliment seeing as you don’t need to breathe,” I replied.

The gods were cruel to when they bound these two togheter but damn, what a love triangle awaits here. I hated Fabian up until now, but I kind of pity him now and, while I'm definitely rooting for Magnar and Callie, I can't help but enjoy this situation.

“I thought I’d lost you,” he breathed.
“Never,” I replied, clinging on to him as Idun tried to force me to let go.
“Magnar!” Fabian roared from somewhere behind me and a tremor of fear rolled down my spine. “You will unhand my wife!”

The drama here will be *chef's kiss*. I just feel it. And, again, I actually feel sorry for Fabian.

👩🏻🧑🏻‍💼Montana and Erik

“I love you,” he said on a choked breath. “I would never have revealed it to you at all, but now you have heard it. Twice. The first look you gave me struck a fire in my heart I’d long-forgotten was there. The second stoked the flames. And every look since has turned that fire into a deadly force that can never be put out. I don’t want you to love me back. I want you to despise me. To do what you do best, Rebel, and goddamn rebel. Don’t be mine. Don’t ever be mine. Because if you are, you will burn up in this fire that lives in me and I will never forgive myself for it.”
“Erik. I won’t rebel. I want to burn.”

I'm on fangirl mode on for them. Totally and 100% shipping them. I miss the banter a bit, but they certainly had some of the sweetest scenes and I can actually feel Montana's torment between wanting justice against the vampires and her love for Erik. The ending was satisfying and bitter sweet at the same time and I'm hoping the next book will bring great things for these two.

👩🏻🧍‍♂️Montana and Julius

“If you take your vow you’ll find this all a lot easier,” Julius whispered with a grin.
“I don't even know what the vow is,” I panted, standing upright as he approached the window.
“It's a promise to end all vampires. But thinking about it...if you take it we won't be able to hook up. So let's keep that option wide open.”
I scowled at him. “That's never gonna happen.”
“Never say never.”

OK, I love Julius a lot and I love his free and easy nature and his flirty attitude towards Montana. Don't get me wrong, I'm team Erik all the way, but it makes a nice view to have this slayer flirting and joking with her. And I especially like that he somehow seems to accept that Montana has actual feelings for a vampire, even if he's determined to kill them for his father's death. Complicated in the most delicious way.

“I’m sending my own men after Magnar and the girl. If I get to her first, I will decide her fate.”
Erik bared his fangs at him. “Then you’d better be prepared, Fabian. Because if you touch a hair on her head, my fight will not be with the slayers. It will be with you.”

I ground my teeth, waiting for an explanation.
“We’re going to help your sister…but we might have to get married first.”

💒The wedding

》》Conclusion《《

I'm sold. I knew I couldn't be disappointed by the sisters and now I'm finally thoroughly hooked by the story, with no chance of not devouring the rest of the books. This was definitely my favorite book so far, even if I wasn't a fan of those flashback chapters, but well... I understand why they were necessary.

“Oh how fine a moment this is.” Andvari turned to Erik. “You don’t even realise it yet, do you?”
“Realise what?” Erik snarled.
“You love her. A human girl. After all the years you have fought to protect your soul, a mere woman has claimed it instead.”

“Warrior born and monster made... Moon Child walks the path of salvation. Erik Belvedere walks the same path. A monster must be made, Julius Elioson. It is time.”

OMGGGGG! I don’t even know where to start.

Eternal Curse is the third book in the Age of Vampires series and continues the story of Montana and Callie.

Eternal Curse starts right where Eternal Shade left off and it was so good. The story was so well-written, there were so many good plot twists and the book was really fast paced. The Age of Vampire series is just such a good vampire series and I cannot get enough of it. This novel was addicting, I read it in one sitting. I don't know what more I can say about this heart-stopping series and amazing characters. The ending was explosive.

Just like in Eternal Shade, we read in Callie, Montana, Magnar and Erik’s perspective. I’m glad that we have a few chapters in Magnar and Erik’s perspective because we get to know bits and pieces from their past. I also love reading in Callie and Montana’s perspective because they’re both so different.
The story is nonstop action as the two remaining slayers of the old world battle against the vampires and the vampires continue to try to find a way to break their curse.

“I don’t want you to love me back. I want you to despise me. To do what you do best, Rebel, and goddamn rebel. Don’t be mine. Don’t ever be mine. Because if you are, you will burn up in this fire that lives in me and I will never forgive myself for it.”

Hands down this series is getting better and better with each book. I love the chapters alternating between the sisters and Magnar and Erik. We learn more back story with both. The explosive climax was devastating and I felt like screaming towards the end. The stakes have never been higher.

This whole story-line is so unique, and the creativity behind the characters and the plot is just great! That's why I've really been loving Caroline's books, they're so different and unique, she is an author to look out for! I've never read anything from Susanne, other than this series so far, but I'm looking forward to more from her.

This series is something to look out for... SERIOUSLY. That cliff-hangar, got me so shook. I'm sooo looking forward to starting book 4, Eternal Vow tonight. I WANT MORE!!! haha I highly recommend it!

And back down to 3 stars we go.
I don't know what it is about these books. I'm enjoying them, but I'm not fully connecting with them and we can't seem to get any higher than a 3.5 star rating, which seems to be quite an unpopular opinion.
I have grown to really like Erik and Magnar, despite their opposing sides, but honestly Julius stole this book for me and is now probably my favourite character. I'd be more than happy to see more of him in the next books, maybe then we get to a 4 star or above.
The slow burn is slow burning and since I'm a quick gratification girly I'm pretty much over that now and ready for everyone to get their shit together (unlikely to happen any time soon I know).
I know that these books are being reworked / rewritten and that the fourth one hasn't been completed yet and whether I will read it or not entirely depends on when it is released. If it is too far in the future I probably wont remember a single thing from these books and thus wont pick it up. If it is soon, I may give it a go.

Book 3 in the series from the twisted sisters.

After a slow start with book 1 and then increased pace in book 2 we had some serious movement in book 3.
The ending has left us with a lot of questions between Callie and fabion.

Montana and Eric have a lot of growth. Cant help but adore Eric as a character his so misunderstood and has major ‘touch her you die’ give even against his own family.

Magner had a major heartbreak moment thanks to some divine intervention (Idun your playing your games again, considering she’s meant to help she really isn’t)

We have had families reunite and more secrets unravel.

WOAAAHHH! Talk about action packed!

This book was incredible, I’m a little mad we have to wait a couple of months for book 4 (but also, it’s a twisted sister’s book so why am I surprised?!)

Falling for the morally grey characters? Check
Torn between rooting for the Slayers & Bloodsuckers? Check
Enraged by meddling Gods? Check

Now as a lover ZA, Orion will always be my favourite vamp (Edward who?) BUT Erik Belvedere!! Ooft, that blood sucker is swoon worthy. (And that teasing spice scene

"What I should have said is that you look radiant. Fucking bewitching. It's how I've felt every time I've called you passable and all the times in between."

5 stars!

I don't know what more I can say about this heart-stopping series and amazing characters. The ending was explosive and nonstop--I couldn't read fast enough yet feared what was to come. Nonetheless, this is definitely my favorite one so far as there is so much packed into this novel, while at the same time it leaves you breathlessly awaiting the next installment yet again.

Both Caroline and Susanne are masters at creating twists that are completely unexpected and explosive, while simultaneously allowing us to experience the story through their characters' eyes and feel as if we are truly a part of it. I experienced so many emotions as both Callie and Montana fight for the independence. I came away liking and pitying characters I firmly used to hate (Fabian!) and absolutely devastated for everything Erik and Montana have gone through and will now have to face as they seem to continually draw the short end of the stick. As usual, I'm excited and terrified by what the Twisted Sisters have in store for my beloved characters in the rest of the series, but I cannot wait for the brutal torture that is surely to come🖤

Tropes: enemies-to-lovers, grumpy/sunshine, hate-to-love-you, brooding anti-hero, strong heroine, morally grey hero, heroine with secret past, forbidden love, dystopian setting, vampire royalty, slow burn, mild cliffhanger (part of a series), steamy🔥

My Erik, fiercely protective and reluctantly in love with Montana his Rebel... :)

My Magnar, Blessed Crusader and badass Warrior of the Sun...

Erik and Montana... I have a bad feeling about their future together.. :(

Callie became a total badass in this book. She’s finally stepping into the warrior role she was destined for, and I’m completely here for it 💥. Montana continues to be a standout for me. Her POVs are still my favorite. She is strong, grounded, and sharp in all the best ways.

Erik completely stole the show. He’s my favorite character so far. He’s morally black, makes no excuses for who he is, but there’s this subtle shift where you can tell he’s trying to be better. And the way he ripped the hearts out of the vampires who hurt Montana?! Omg. I was screaming. That scene was everything. Brutal, protective, and so satisfying 🖤 The ending HURT😭

And can we talk about the bonds for a second? I was fine with Erik and Montana’s bond — it made sense and felt natural. But Fabian and Callie? What even was that?! That twist threw me completely.

The past POV of Erik added so much emotional depth and made me care about his history and decisions even more.

This series has completely pulled me in. I’m flying through the books and loving every second of it 🩸📚

“I will follow the way of the slayers until the last vampire is wiped from this earth or until death releases me.” - Callie

Callie struggles with the consequences of taking her vow and its implications now that Magnar is her Mentor. Magnar can barely contain his anger and bitterness, “We will be bound by our cause, forfeiting all ties. Thank you for that.”

Meanwhile a grief stricken Montana struggles to cope with the death of her father as well as her growing feelings for Erik. Erik is stunned to learn that not only is Montana a slayer, but she is a twin and is possibly a crucial part of the prophecy which will break his family’s curse. He promises to right the wrongs done to her family and others. “And you’re wrong. I do care. I f***** care alright? Maybe I didn’t before. Maybe I turned a blind eye, but I’m wide awake now. I’m damn-well paying attention and I will do whatever it takes to make this right.”

While Callie and Magnar set out to rescue Montana from Erik’s clutches, Montana is kidnapped by the mysterious hooded man who turns out to be non other than Julius, Magnar’s brother. Julius comes to realise Montana and Callie’s part in the prophecy and is incredulous when one of the blades confirms her destiny is linked to Erik.
“Warrior born and monster made... Moon Child walks the path of salvation. Erik Belvedere walks the same path. A monster must be made, Julius Elioson. It is time.”

Montana decides to return to Erik to learn more about the prophecy. Will Andvari be forthcoming? When Callie is captured and Fabian stakes his claim on her, Magnar and Julius must race against the clock to stop the wedding ceremony. A formidable foe is one step ahead however and the ensuing clash results in far reaching ramifications.

The Age of Vampire series is turning out to be a gift that just keeps on giving. When a book leaves a reader with so many conflicted emotions, it is a testament to their writing and characterisation skills and both authors have these in abundance. Rarely do I find myself emotionally invested in characters from the get go. From very first chapter of Eternal Reign however, I found myself doing just that and what an emotional rollercoaster it’s been.

Eternal Curse was as compelling as its predecessor. It was fast paced, with lots of surprises and breathtaking twists. The tension throughout the book had me anxiously turning the pages. I confess I’ve had a soft spot for Erik and Montana since the beginning and boy do they go through the wringer in this book. One of my favourite quotes was an impassioned plea uttered by Erik:

“I don’t want you to love me back. I want you to despise me. To do what you do best, Rebel, and goddamn rebel. Don’t be mine. Don’t ever be mine. Because if you are, you will burn up in this fire that lives in me and I will never forgive myself for it.”

I’m really pleased that we were given further glimpses into Erik and Magnar’s past from their point of view as it adds additional insight into their personalities and motives.

The explosive climax was devastating and I felt like screaming towards the end. The stakes have never been higher and I can’t wait for the next instalment.

Caroline and Susanne’s collaboration has truly gone from strength to strength. Eternal Curse is an unforgettable addition in the Age of Vampires series and I highly recommend it to fans of dystopia, vampires, slayers and dark urban fantasy.

O.M.G. This series just gets better and better. So much happened in this book, especially at the end. Things did not go how I thought they would, and I am living for the drama. Especially the whole mess with Fabian. Who would have thought that would happen? And I really want to be Callie when I grow up. Obliterating any room I am in when angry is a new personal goal. The girl is fierce. I can't freaking wait for the next book so I can find out how this all ends.

This series truly has my heart breaking on repeat and I’m so addicted to the pain that I spend every free waking moment chasing more of it. This book in particular reveals more of the tragic backstory; for both the vampire and slayer, which I appreciate so I can somehow justify their morally grey behavior. The two sisters are on such a deep journey of growth, separately but still so close together. I love their differences and seeing them grow in different ways. But I’m yearning for them to get back to each other.

In short, I hate Erik a little less and Magnar is still the goat. I know at some point, vampire and slayer will have to cross paths in order for the sisters to reunite. My anxiety is high about that. I have gone straight from one book to the next and knowing I’m nearly halfway through gives me peace because eventually my adrenaline can calm down.

I love this story. 🩸🧛🏻🤺🌗

As someone who has read the series in its original content & is now re-reading the re-vamped books, my biggest frustration has been that they’ve emphasized the twins lack of knowledge/education to highlight the disparity created by the vampires. However, as we move further into the series we’re starting to get to where the sisters really start to come into their strengths so I’m hoping the emphasis on lack of education/knowledge ceases.

That being said…this series is addictive like most, if not all, Twisted Sisters series. They’re chaotic and stressful and suck you right in. I know what happens in the overall plot based on the original series, and I’m still on the edge of my seat at the cliffhangers because I’m not sure how much they’ll change things in this revamp.

On to book 4 next month….
