Her Too-Perfect Boss: Navy Quinn: A Quinn Family Romance is by Cami Checkers. This is a great book and I must read the series. It is a romance of misjudgments and mistakes. Navy Quinn was the eldest and only sister of the Quinn family. She was very protective of her brothers. Currently, she was on the show Muscle Up and was one of the trainers. There were two contestants left and they and the crew had been flown to the Caribbean to an island where Zack Tyndale and his wife Madeline had a home. Zack was an ex-Olympian and a billionaire and his home on this island was beautiful. Holden Jennings, the owner of Superior Sports and as such Navy’s boss, was coming to film the finale. Unfortunately, their timing was off and they were there when a hurricane hit. By the time they realized it was so bad, it was too late to leave. The house was built to be hurricane resistant and waterproof. Holden just hoped that was true.
I think this might be my favorite Quinn story yet and I really enjoyed them all. Navy and Holden are a great match. Both are natural leaders. Their strengths are highlighted when they are thrown into a disastrous situation with nonstop adventure. I also like how the author shows the less than perfect sides of the characters and how relationships can be hard. Relationships take work and recognizing where your priorities need to lay. I look forward to Colt's story next. We got a peek into his story in this book. I hope we get more of Navy and Holden in Colt's story. Can't wait!
Being caught on a small island in a major hurricane brings out the real in everyone. For Navy and Holden, it brings out love. For Ryan and Alecia, it brings out a maddening cowardice, made worse by Ryan's crush on Navy and Alecia's crush on Holden. When the storm actually sweeps over the island, filling the house with water and driving many people into a tiny storm shelter, the situation worsens even more. And people become even more themselves. Checketts brings the tense mess into a HE. Recommended for readers of clean billionaire romance.
I listened to the audio version of Her Too Perfect Boss, a drama-driven Romance written by Cami Checkettes, narrated by Steven Dexter.
MY RATING GUIDE: I probably wasn’t the right audience for HER TOO PERFECT BOSS. It was most likely meant for readers YA-mid-20’s or for those who enjoy lots of drama in their books. For me, HTPB was a 2 rating (explained below).
1= dnf/What was that?; 2= NOPE; NOT FOR ME; 3= This was okay/cute; 3.5= I enjoyed it; 4= I liked it a lot; 5= I Loved it, it was great! (I seldom give 5 Stars).
“Muscle Up,” a reality-celebrity based televised fitness program, is scheduled to film the near conclusion of their season’s show in a luxurious setting on a remote island - during hurricane season. A storm arrives soon after the cast and crew and human drama quickly unfolds amongst the characters.
Comments ~ 1) An misunderstanding between the 2 MCs exists from the very beginning of the novel and remains as a conflict device until the very end. I had wrongly expected the dangerous storm setting (Proximity-Danger trope) would provide the conflict in this book. I’m not a fan of misunderstandings that should take 20min and maturity to resolve so this was a problem for me. 2) The characters (male and female) were pretty much all “drama queens” and IMO acted immaturely much of the book. 3) Several aspects of HTPB simply didn’t make logical sense to me pulling me out of the story. No spoilers. 4) The narration sections by Dexter were simply okay. I felt the dialogue was done better. 5) I wasn’t a fan of the FMC at all. She was quite judgmental, not willing to consider other peoples’ perspectives, seemingly believing she was always right. 6) I believe this is part of a series. I haven’t read any of the other titles and was able to follow along fine.
This was a new author for me. My subscription service offered the audio of HTPB as a free listen. I won’t be checking out other titles by this author but other readers who actually enjoy drama in their reading would probably enjoy HTPB much more than I. I noticed this has decent ratings.
READER CAUTION ~ This was a Clean novel with a brief mention of prayer. PROFANITY - None. SEXUAL SITUATIONS - None. Just hugs & kisses. VIOLENCE - G/PG.
This was an extraordinary frustrating listen for me as neither MC had any rational thoughts. My best guess is that 80% of the story is repetitive head babble from the MCs.
The h really drove me nuts with the I will support my brother, even if it causes me to walk through a sword. The H kisses the h for the first time, then freaks out. The next 30% of the story is him lamenting why she is upset with him. Really?
I probably skipped through half of this book as it was a constant stream of head babble.

I picked this up as a free listen on Audible and needed a short 4 hour time filler. I was pleasantly surprised at the absolutely manic action that takes place three quarters of the way through. This could also be listened to with littles around because all spice is tension and never more than descriptive kisses. This could get a little camp at times but just put it in the perspective this is placed. A clean but not conservative romance.
I would recommend this for a road trip for the Avon Aunties.
Oh! How I love Navy and Holden. They are both strong leaders and feisty. They are sure to have some disagreements. But the love they have for each other will carry them through. The story is exciting and intense. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved it. It’s soothing and exciting to have a bit of Sutton involvement to tie the stories together. Now I can not wait to read Colt’s story!
After reading about all her brothers, I was excited to read Navy's story. She has been crushing on her boss for years, but isn't willing to risk everything by approaching him romantically. A hurricane hits the island they are on and throws their relationship into hyper-drive. While it is a totally unrealistic story, it was a fun read. The main characters are fun & the supporting cast is entertaining. A fun addition to the Quinn family series.
Whenever a new Quinn family story comes out, it goes to the top of my virtual book pile. I’m never disappointed. The “trauma” was so well written and frightening- my only complaint is I wish the story was longer. Thank you for the few hours of well written escape from real life.
Wow! What a fast-paced, breath taking read. Stress can bring 2 people together who have loved from afar for years. This challenge allowed them to really get to know each other and determine if this love is real. Almost impossible to put down once started. Loved it.
I don't know how realistic this story is but it had excitement and was very different from any I've read. Too much focus on the romantic attraction in the middle of a high stress, life or death situation for my personal tastes but if you love clean steam then it will be a good choice for you.
Sex: unwanted attention and touching Language: no Violence: some
A adventure awaits what was supposed to be a fun but working week. With all the different characters and the understanding of what triggers their quirks and how they come to work together. As Miss understandings effect how they see others clearings them up. A good read
The thing is, it’s painful to read about grown adult people who don’t have the emotional maturity to communicate, but beyond that frustration, it was cute. It just especially didn’t make sense to take the misunderstanding beyond a certain point, the misunderstanding, which, ahem, wouldn’t have happened with simple communication. Sigh.
Loved the book on how things started off so peaceful and calm before the characters had to move into survival mode. I loved the strong character of the leading man along with the determination of the leading lady. I also like that she could admit that she was wrong at the end. It made her character more likeable and human.

Depend on Navy Quinn to have an unusual crisis. I can’t imagine growing up with 5 younger over-achiever brothers. I always know I’m going to get an action packed, humorous romance with a Cami Checketts book and that I will always be anxiously waiting the next book. I love her strong families and the faith shown even if they don’t want to be actively practicing it.
Dramatic and tender Quinn Family book. All the romance and sass that only Navy could bring to the table Add a love interest, a tv show and fitness experts stranded on an island, an you have an I can’t put you down book!
I was hoping that the author would make Navy's story epic and she did! It has all the great writing of a wonderful clean romance! It should be a movie but I don't think Hallmark could do it justice.
There was plenty here to keep my attention, and while some parts were awkward it was still an adorable romance. This was the first book I've read by this author and I'm definitely going to check out more.
This book was action packed. The characters were wonderful. I loved finally getting Navy's story after reading about 4 of her 5 brothers. I loved Navy's spunk and take charge attitude. I loved Holden's quiet strength and courage. GREAT read!
I enjoyed reading this story about Navy and Holden. Two people infatuated with each other for years, but neither one of them wants to make a move. It is so refreshing and heartwarming how things progress with them.
A big part of this storyline takes place in Jamaica, during a hurricane, which became kinda tiresome…. The banter between the couple is really good though, and eventually things worked out in the end, even though it looked doubtful in virtually every chapter.
This is a refreshing and outstanding romance with adventurous and feisty moments that will keep you on the edge of your seat as their love story unfold.
Caught in a hurricane people in varying degrees of hysteria try to survive. During this time tempers flare and secrets are exposed but also romance blossoms.
