Very existential for a children's book. A voice maybe unintentionally critiquing the artificial preservation of our children's sanctity (think Santa and other similar myths, sexual repression, hiding adult profanity) so many of our cultures endorse. As it's written my a mere 14 year old, its message is that much more powerful.

This is a children’s book, but it struck a chord with me as a middle aged adult. Time will pass you by

As I stand at Books Ahoy, flipping through this book, I sink into the realisation that this is me. I'm the rock. The comfortable loneliness, acceptance of a particular fate and the feelings towards love and friendship and an eventual abandoning; everything associated with this wonderful short story is everything that I've come to identify myself with. The simplicity and complexity of the book has left such a deep impression. One of the best and most emotional reads I've had the pleasure of coming across in a while.

I loved the book.It was something so simple yet so interesting. This was indeed something I have never read before.I liked how the author took such a simple example and transformed it into a book about friendship. The story is about two characters,a bird and a rock.As the story progresses, the friendship and care for each other grew deeply. It was a rather weird friendship though.I never would have thought about how two simple 'characters' could be friends and have such a unique friendship. My favourite part about this book is that no matter how the bird knew that he most likely might not succeed in 'saving' the rock from turning into sand eventually,he still tried his best and continued trying failure after failure. All in all,it is a very creative and wonderful book to read.If you ask me,this book is definitely worth reading.

Reminds me strongly of Alice McLerran's The Mountain that loved a Bird, illustrated by Eric Carle, which I found very moving, though there's really a bit too much text there for a picture book.

I love Anngee Neo's illustrations for this book. And I like that there's plenty of white space for the story and pictures to sit on, which gives the reader room to pause and ponder.

i like about the part where they had a conflict at the start but at the end they became friends.it uses alot of vocab phrases.the story is interesting and the outcome was not what i expected.the rock and the bird are both kind hearted .the rock is someone who is willing to accept anything and accept his destiny.the bird is someone who loves to help someone whenever they are in need.

Was gifted this book by an ex-colleague. Being at an age where it is common to fondly remember previously fast friends who have naturally drifted away, an age where loved ones are also getting old and I'm faced with the very near possibility of them leaving forever, I really felt this book. 。。

I remember picking this up at the old bedok library when I was 8 years old but nothing about the prose and when I picked it up today I finished reading it in 5 minutes but ended up sobbing by the time I was done. The passage of time and friendship is wonderful and I’m glad to be alive sometimes

I like how the two characters still became friends despite their differences .personally I think that this shows that no matter who you are , you can become friends with anybody .

The rock and the bird were in conflict before. Now, they have befriended each other. The bird tries to move the rock but to no avail, fails. Eventually the bird shares with the rock it's travels. They both exchange stories and their friendship continues to blossom. Sadly, the bird passes on. One day they're there and the next, they're gone. My school librarian recommended this book to me and I appreciate it. Considering how this book was written by a 14 year old is commendable. Kudos to the author!!
