As a public defender, Caitlin McLoughlin has seen her share of bad guys, and she’s tired of watching them walk away. Until one day, she refuses to let it happen again. But if anyone finds out what she has done, her whole future will be at risk.
When she meets Parker Hathaway, charged with kidnapping four-year-old Madeline, he’s just another criminal, another job. But Parker tells a far different story. Can Caitlin believe him? Or is her trust better placed in the handsome deputy district attorney with his undefeated record in court?
Caitlin’s pursuit of the truth swiftly thrusts her into a maze of unanswered questions and unexpected heartache. Meanwhile, little Madison is in danger. All Caitlin’s experience with the law can’t save her, but maybe falling in love can. How far are both Caitlin and Parker willing to go?

Teyla Rachel Branton grew up avidly reading science fiction and fantasy and watching Star Trek reruns with her large family. They lived on a little farm where she loved to visit the solitary cow and collect (and juggle) the eggs, usually making it back to the house with most of them intact. On that same farm she once owned thirty-three gerbils and eighteen cats, not a good mix, as it turns out. Teyla always had her nose in a book and daydreamed about someday creating her own worlds. She is now married, mostly grown up, and has seven kids, so life at her house can be very interesting (and loud), but writing keeps her sane. She thrives on the energy and daily amusement offered by her children, the semi-ordered chaos giving her a constant source of writing material. Grabbing any snatch of free time from her hectic life, Teyla writes novels full of mystery, romance, and imagination. She warns her children that if they don’t behave, they just might find themselves in her next book! She’s been known to wear pajamas all day when working on a deadline, and is often distracted enough to burn dinner. (Okay, pretty much 90% of the time.) A sign on her office door reads: DANGER. WRITER AT WORK. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. She loves writing fiction and traveling, and she hopes to write and travel a lot more. She also loves shooting guns, martial arts, and belly dancing. She has worked in the publishing business for over twenty years.
This book started strong for me but I got bored in the middle then it picked up at the end, this was book was a good clean, romance. I loved Parker my heart hurt for how unfair the system can be sometimes, I wanted to get his 4 year old daughter away from her mom. This was a great clean book that tugged on my heartstrings.

Rachel Branton has done it again! I know when I pick up one of her books, there will be plenty of romance and lots of suspense. Masterfully written, this book has fabulous characters and a plot line with enough twists and turns to keep me reading well into the night. I highly recommend this book!
An enlightening story that will touch your heart and bring awareness to one of the many dangers to innocent children. This father's love for his daughter takes pressidence over everything else. I highly recommend this book.
Very well written, with emotional connections and enough romance to keep me moving through the story. Shedding light on tragic events while keeping me involved in the story.
This book is very well written and the stody is fictional, however the subject matter is sadly a very real part of today's world. In this book the story has a happy ending.
