From REMINGTON KANE, the author of the Taken! Series A Man of Respect - A Tanner Novel - Book 23 Members of the mafia's commission deploy an unusual tactic to deal with Tanner's murder of Boston mob boss Moss Murphy.
While visiting his brother in California, Tanner helps Stark take on a gang of murderous thieves.
Remington Kane is an American author that writes action-packed thrillers. The author might be unfamiliar to some people because Remington Kane is actually a pseudonym for Donald Wells.
Donald Wells has garnered a reputation for writing darker and somewhat serious novels about killers. The author was born in New Jersey. He never really left and has since made a home there. Like most of his peers, Donald Wells was an avid reader as a child.
He spent many an hour devouring every book he came across. And it wasn’t long before he began to yearn for the chance to write. Like many aspiring authors, Donald Wells knew he had the capacity to tell stories. However, he was a little hesitant to venture into such uncharted waters, not only because he didn’t know where to start with regards to writing a book but also because he didn’t have confidence in his own ability to produce compelling fiction.
Again, like most notable authors, Donald meandered about for a while. Rather than going into publishing the first chance he got, Donald tried his hand at various odd jobs. He worked as an insurance salesman, a Real Estate Sales person, and even a Retail manager.
The jobs, though seemingly meaningless in the grand scheme of things, did wonders for the author’s writing capabilities. Whether he was driving trucks or cleaning floors, Donald gained insight into the workings of the world.
He met unexpected people and heard their intriguing stories. He came across numerous strange encounters and even participated in some of them. He essentially dipped into so many unique aspects of life that it came as no surprise that he had more than enough stories rattling around his head when it finally came time to write his first novel.
Not that many authors can claim to have been offered a chance to act as bodyguard to a drug dealer. Since getting his first book sold, though, Donald has finally settled in his career. The author loves writing novels and there is nothing he else he would rather be doing. The fact that he has found a way to make money out of his passion makes him one of the luckier individuals in the world.
By the time Donald Wells began writing as Remington Kane, he had already become established as a novelist with numerous thrillers under his name. However, writing as Remington practically took over his life.
This is because Donald has achieved more success writing as Remington Kane than he did producing novels under his real name. Kane is best known for the Tanner series of novels. Tanner is a hit man who accepts a job to take out a mob boss.
When he is betrayed and thrown into prison, Tanner thinks of little else besides getting revenge. And once he finally gets his freedom, the hit man becomes a one man army, engaging in a brutal way against a crime organization known as the Conglomerate.
Each new book sees Tanner raising the stakes by finding a new target that will sting the Conglomerate in ways they couldn’t possibly fathom.
Remington Kane has been praised for the Tanner novels because Tanner is such a refreshing hero. The protagonist is so average physically, devoid of the exaggerated traits that most action heroes seem to bear. If not for his natural fighting and survival instincts, one would be hard pressed to tell Tanner apart from any other ordinary man on the street.
The story continues. The more Kane gets into the Tanner story, the more he improves the plot and the less the story involves just plain "shoot 'em up".
I am jonesing to read book 24! Remington Kane has given me many hours of reading pleasure and I thank him for that. Every book in the series has been good so far and i am looking forward to reading more.
The more I read this series I more I like it. To an extent the books are similar; lots of action, high body counts, and a good quick read. Besides that the character of Tanner continues to evolve and grow. In this he works with his brother Caleb and resolves a problem with the Mafia. Recommended.
Another great Tanner adventure. This time teamed with Caleb aka Stark his long lost brother, they decide to stop an home invasion gang. But being Tanner and Stark this is not all they're up against. Throw in the mob and Ordanace Inc. after Tanner and an FBI agent and a long defeated enemy after Stark and you get the idea. Can Tanner even begin to think about revealing his true identity of Cody Parker so him and Sara can finally get married. Another great book to read in this series. Can't wait for the next installment.
Family Business Tanner returns to NYC only to be confronted by problems in the “Family” business, problems that necessitate a trip to Chicago to meet with the “extended Family.” The Chicago trip is followed by a trip west to meet with his brother to assist in his vigilante work. Once again there is no dead time in a Tanner novel (unless you count the times when it’s necessary for someone to die.) This (twenty-third) entry in the Tanner series also promises a bright future for Tanner fans.
'A Man Of Respect' was one of those books that have characters in it that you just want to suffer. Slowly suffer. Tanner and Caleb make a great team. They each have strong morals and rarely stray from them. They stand up for those that don't have a voice. A great addition to an awesome series. Recommended read.
Tanner a honorary made man,now that was something. This story bring us into the fold and it was heartwarming. The writer gives us two brothers who get to know on another and to help each other. For once we get to see Tanner work the case and not have to be necessarily be him. Once again we are kept on our toes with really good storytelling.
I really enjoyed this book. Caleb and Cody or Tanner and Stark get to spend time together all the while experiencing some really wild adventures. Caleb wishes at times to not be wanted by the police and Tanner is looking for a way to change himself back to Cody Parker. Can they do it?
Make sure you don’t have plans before you start reading this book
Just like the previous 22 books, make sure you have no plans for a day or 2 before you start reading because you will not want to stop reading. Mr. Kane, I cannot wait until the next book. Thank You
That's my Tanner/Cody. Great as always..seems like I know him for real! I don't know where you get your ideas or how you keep everything straight from one book to another, but That's being a great author. I'll be preordering the next book and can't wait.
As much as i love Tanner/Cody books and series didn't enjoy this as much didn't have the page turner thrill and build up like the others and too much reference as to how great Tanner is spoilt it for me >
I have read all the Tanner novels. They are all great and kept me turning the pages until I have read each one with more & more respect for an assassin named Cody (Tanner) Parker.
Great Tanner novel as always, packed with action and suspense. I was especially excited to learn that Tanner decides to begin taking his old life back and I am excited to begin the next book in the series.
I can't fill this up with 17 words. It has become a soap opera. It also makes crooks and drug dealers look like good guys. They are not. The Mafia is vile, eviland should be treated as vermin not heros.
Not too different than the other stories in the series and most have 80% of the same verbiage . The story was different but not much mystery in any of it.
