Heading back to Iraq was never in Parker’s plans …
But, when his brother is killed in action, he makes the journey to bring his brother back home to his final resting place.
When one of the K9 War Dogs disappears at the military airport in transit, and all attempts to locate him fails, Parker agrees to investigate during the few days he’s there.
Sandy is making the same journey as Parker—both of their brothers were killed in the same incident. Both brothers had been the best of friends, but this is the first time she’s met Parker. From that initial moment, she realizes something odd is happening in his world. When they find a K9 dog in a rebel stronghold, she’s sucked into a much more dangerous trip than one of compassion and grief.
There’s a reason why the first investigation didn’t turn up anything. … As Parker rattles cages and shakes up a ring of thieves, the bodies start dropping, one by one.

3.5 Stars - Parker and Wendy's story had a whole lot of action, mystery and whodunits. I could visualize the relationship starting to take root. Unfortunately, there was only one passionate scene and it was just at the very end. I was disappointed in that. This relationship between them was coming together because of their exact tragic circumstances. It was developing at an extremely slow pace. Then we get to their last chapter and they have sex in 9.2 seconds...no more development of their relationship and we are done. It was as though, the romantic relationship between them was slowly developing nicely, then all the action, a quick love scene... then boom!, The story is over. We the readers deserved more in reference to these two characters...let us witness them getting through their brother's burials/cremations, Parker's relationship with Samson, once they are living together stateside We don't witness any of the romance development. The author owed us more in the romance department. This one is not my favorite. It was also too vanilla. Needed more!
These military men and canine heroes already own my heart, and Parker is the perfect addition to the series. Parker is near the end of his military commitment, but he’s headed back to Iraq. His brother was KIA and Parker plans to escort him back home, but he also agrees to look into one of the War Dogs that was last seen at the base airport. Sandy is in a similar situation, traveling to Iraq to escort her brother's body back to the States. Before they know it, Parker and Sandy are stuck together and soon fighting for their lives.
These two go through some awful situations and, just when you think there’s nothing else to go wrong, things blow up all over again. Full of suspense and intense drama, the twists and turns in this one will keep you on the edge of your seat. If you like military heroes and love to see a canine get a second chance, you won’t want to pass up this exciting, fantastic read!
Parker travels to Iraq to escort his brother’s body home and meets up with the sister of his brother’s best friend, doing the same thing. Sandy is at a loose end and offers to help Parker search for his missing war dog, Samson. When their investigation rattles some chains, danger threatens them both, and Parker doesn’t know who he can trust. The action picks up when thieves keep trying to kill Samson. This book grabbed me from the beginning and kept my interest all the way through. I am really enjoying this series.
Parker and Sandy have a lot in common however unfortunately some of it is painful. For very different reasons they are both approaching the end of their military careers and they are on the same flight to accompany their brothers home who passed away while in service.
While they are there Parker is also investigating the disappearance of a missing service animal which sends them on an adventure filled with suspense, danger and twists as they try to uncover the truth.
Parker is heading back to Iraq, a place he never wanted to go back to, to escort his brother's body back home. As it turns out one of the missing war dogs has disappeared from a military airport while he was there waiting to be transported back to the US and a waiting adoptive family. Eric, his boss, asks Parker if he would mind investigating while there. Since he would be there only a few days and it would take his mind off his sorrow, he agrees.
Sandy is also in Iraq and on her way to the same base as Parker. Their brothers were best friends and she is also there to escort his body home. Sandy goes with Parker for a drive and to do a little investigating and well all hell breaks loose after that.
They find the dog a little to quickly and gunfire, dead bodies, a smuggling ring, and dirty military soldiers all conspire to make this trip dangerous and pretty much non-stop. They will need Badger's help because they can trust no one. Just when they get out of one mess, another one comes along and keeps them fighting for their lives. Samson is the K9 and he is wonderful as all of the dogs have been in this series.
The story is full of action and suspense. I liked that Sandy and Parker knew of each other through their brother's stories. They are forced to trust and count on each other as things go sideways. They are good together and he is an alpha all the way without being a jerk. Unlike his colleagues at the Titanium Corp. Parker isn't missing any limbs. He was injured but he has all of his body parts. Sandy is a nurse and she is strong and very capable under pressure. She isn't a shrinking violet but she is vulnerable.
I love these stories. The dogs have just as much right to live out the rest of their lives in peace and happiness as our soldiers do. I am a sucker for a good dog story and I am hooked.
When there’s only one person you know you can trust.
In this exciting and frustrating endeavor, Parker Cutter, whose war injuries had taken him permanently out of active military duty, has been working with Titanium Corp as an electrician and builder and is ten days away from his official discharge. The death of his brother, Jerry, has him on his way back to Iraq to accompany the body home after a military honor ceremony. On a since-you’re-going-there-anyway request from Geir, Parker has agreed to look for decommissioned War Dog Samson, who was last seen waiting to be boarded on a plane back to the U.S. from the same Iraq base to which Parker is headed. At takeoff time, Samson was nowhere to be found on the plane, at the airport, or at the base.
On the flight from California to Iraq, Parker meets Sandy, whose brother, Jeremy, and Jerry were best friends and died together in the same event. Both military themselves, Parker and Sandy share their belief that their brothers’ deaths are significant factors in their own decisions to leave the military. Both had done tours in Iraq and had friends in the town near the base there. Sandy has been a military nurse working in the US, but it was Jeremy’s influence that kept her in the service. Without him, she cannot see a future for herself there. With so much in common, Parker and Sandy form a bond that began from their shared grief, but then expanded as they worked together to find missing War Dog Samson. Frustrated by bureaucracy and black-market greed, they each find themselves to be the only ones they can trust through this whole ordeal. A real page-turner. Just could not put it down. Great read!

This is the sixth book in the fabulous K9 series, all standalone, all with fantastic characters but all with one aim, to bring war dags who have valiantly served their country, back to the US for a carefree retirement. At some point all have these dogs have disappeared and have to be found. Parker has the sad task of accompanying his brothers body back from Iraq after he had been killed in action. Sandy and Parker's brothers had been best friends and had both been killed on the same mission, Sandy was also heading out to Iraq to bring her brother back home. Parker, who was shortly to leave his SEAL team, had a couple of days spare whilst in Iraq before his flight home and he was asked by his commanding officer if he would mind having a scout round the base for Sampson, a K9 who had disappeared from the base despite being already crated for a flight to the US. Sandy, who until recently had been a military nurse, and Parker fell into an easy friendship when they met and decided to travel together. Sandy offered to help Parker search for Sampson and it quickly became apparent that all was not well at the base. Who could they trust with their suspicions when they found a body, everyone was a suspect, where was Sampson ?, the body count was stacking, they were both in grave danger and they were unarmed.. This book contains intrigue, treachery, suspense, kidnapping by rebels, murder and of course romance. I absolutely loved this story, the end is where you find out who the perpetrators are and then it gently leads into the next story......I can't wait. Would I recommend it ? you bet .

This was a great addition to the series. I so enjoyed reading it. I was able to read this in one sitting. The story was very well written to where it seem more like a movie than a book. I was able to picture the action in my mind. I enjoy reading books better than watching a movie as you are able to get into the characters' mind and see how they are thinking in a given situation.
This story was a very sad one for me. Both Parker and Sandy are heading to Iraq to retrieve their brothers, who were best friends. Both were killed in action. Parker was asked to look into the disappear of Samson, a War Dog, that was decommissioned and to go to a family to live in peace. Sandy goes with Parker when he goes looking for Samson to get away from the base and the gloom surrounding her there. They find Samson and that is where the suspense and intrigue really starts for these two.
This story is written in a dual POV format. Getting into Sandy and Parker's mind was really heartfelt at times. There were a couple of moments where the emotions that these two were going through really got to me. I really felt so attuned to the characters that I teared up.
There was one sexy scene that was very brief and highly glossed over so I really don't think that anyone should be offended but I would recommend this story to anyone over the age of 18.
I was kindly provided this book as an ARC; in exchange for my honest review. This is book 6 of 7 (so far) in The K9 Files series. This book centers around Parker and Sandy, and Samson The K9.
Samson is one of the missing war dogs that Parker has been assigned to locate by Titanium Security (see SEALs of Steel series.) Samson has disappeared in Iraq while awaiting to be loaded onto a military transport after being retired.
Parker and Sandy are both still enlisted in the Navy. But, upon being notified of the deaths of their brothers (who happened to be best friends) they decided to retire after returning to Iraq to retrieve their brothers bodies. Parker was asked to look into Samson’s disappearance while in country. Upon arrival, Parker and Sandy note some strange occurrences/behavior when questioning staff about Samson. Things quickly unravel for the pair during their search/location of Samson.
This really isn’t a romance, but follows a suspense/mystery format.. It is however, a fairly decent series that is loosely linked to Ms. Dale’s SEALs Of Steel series.
Not a “page-burner”, But is a well written, fast and easy-read; which can truthfully (in my opinion) be read by teens (16+) and adults.

I can always count on Dale Mayer’s books to have unusual plots, lots of action, unusual, complex and unpredictable plots, and, of course, a happy ending.
Parker and Sandy are the main characters in this book. Parker is a Navy SEAL and Sandy is a Navy nurse. Both of their brothers were friends who were killed in the same incident. Parker and Sandy are in Iraq to escort their brothers’ coffins back home.
While Parker is in Iraq, Commander Cross asks Parker to use his spare time to look for a retired K9. The dog had disappeared from his crate on the tarmac where he was waiting to be shipped back home. Parker invites Sandy to come with him while he looks for the dog.
That brings big trouble to the couple when they are considered witnesses to a crime. Parker and Sandy are viciously attacked over and over during their stay in Iraq.
This is a page-turner that contains non-stop action and intrigue. The author keeps the reader on pins and needles to the very end. Will they return home safely with the K9 doge? Who are the villains? What are they doing that they want to keep secret?
Parker and Sandy are both on their way to Iraq to escort their individual brothers home after they were killed in action. The brothers, Jerry and Jeremy were best friends, however, Parker and Sandy (both military too) had never met until this trip. Parker and Sandy (a nurse stateside) are both considering retiring after this loss and Parker is still healing from injuries of his own. Parker had been asked if he would consider checking on the disappearance of a K9 war dog while he was gone since the dog was last seen at an airport near the area where he would be traveling. Sounds simple but from here we are introduced to a rebel camp, kidnapping both dog and later girl, greed, cover up and generalized chaos. Quite an adventure coupled with the sad original reason for going on this trip! Very well done. I really enjoyed this story and stayed up way too late reading! The sign of a very good book. The epilogue includes a hint about the next book including Carter going back to one of his favorite places with a history for him and his search for Matzuka, another missing K9. Love these books!
Another hit by this author and the K9 series this one featuring Parker and Sandy. When Parker has to head overseas to collect his brother who died while serving, he’s accompanied by Sandy, who also lost her brother. The two brothers were best friends and this is the first time the two meet, so when a request is made to find a lost K9, Samson, he asks Sandy to accompany him while there, hoping to do something while there and keep them occupied while grieving. Sandy agrees and they set out from the barracks, only to find themselves in the middle of a ring who steal from the military for their own gain and don’t care who ends up hurt or dead in the process. A great read with steam and suspense with amazing characters and a K9 you would want for yourself. The story has all the feels and some sadness as the deaths of soldiers who gave their life serving their country. I love the no drama and the instant attraction, possessiveness and protection that comes with each story and once again doesn’t disappoint. Samson the K9 stole the scenes in this one as well and I loved that Samson was not hurt or abused while lost. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Parker by Dale Mayer K9 Files Series Book Six Parker Cutter is heading to Iraq after his brother was killed, along with his crew. While there, the Titanium Corp has asked him to search for a missing War Dog. Samson. Since his brother's best friend was killed in the same incident, his friend's sister, Sandy, flew with Parker to the base. It was supposed to be easy. Fly in, stay for a service, fly home with the bodies. Look for Samson when he could. Nothing is ever that easy...
Sandy Bressard, a nurse in the military...stateside. She'd heard about Parker from her brother. Knew he was a good guy. She was glad she wasn't alone on this journey that she felt she had to make. Ends up, she's really glad she has Parker at her side.
Both Parker and Sandy will be ending their military service in the next few weeks. Their brothers' deaths helped decide that for both of them. What they didn't expect was what trouble they accidentally fell into when searching for a lost dog. Another page-turning adventure from beginning to end. **Sexual content and language https://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com...
Parker and Sally came to know one another under the saddest of circumstances, each of them on their way to Iraq to bring home the body of a beloved brother.
Parker had also been tasked with finding a decommissioned war dog Samson, who had gone missing from the airport on base before he could be loaded on a plane for a new home in the States. The
As they navigate the military protocols and procedures to collect their brother's caskets and escort them stateside, Parker and Sally rely on one another to stay strong in the face of their grief.
The couple became even more interdependent when they discovered a murder on the Iraq base and soon find themselves the targets of a gang of smugglers operating there.
It will take all three of them -- Samson included-- to survive the hours ahead and hopefully live to start a new life together, if they ever return home.
This is a quick, fun read for fans of military dramas and for dog lovers. The romance is sweet and counteracts the tremendous sadness that brings this three some together in the beginning.
I found the beginning slow and difficult, but the story redeemed itself with a few twists and turns and unexpected action.
Parker (The K-9 Files #6) Omg..this book kept me up all night reading. I couldn’t put it down because right from the beginning I was hooked. Parker is heading overseas to escort his brother’s casket back to the states. Sandy is doing the same thing, and they meet up overseas. Parker is also going to be looking for a decommissioned wardog named Samson. Samson went missing from the airport while he was waiting to be shipped back to the states. Let the nonstop action and mystery begin. My emotions were all over the place with this book.. tears, anger, shock, and happiness. You’ll be turning pages and thinking you finally know who the bad guys are, and then boom.. more bad guys. This was an exciting read, and tops my list for favourite in this series.. although I do say that after I read each book in the series ;) There is a teaser at the end that leads into the next book, and I’m already anxious to read it.. pretty sure that will be my new favourite in the series haha. Outstanding read! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
In this series, it starts with a mission to locate a missing war dog and expands as we experience the difficulties of actually locating and rescuing it. In this one, do Samson went missing in Iraq he was waiting to be shipped home for his retirement. Parker and Sandy are travelling to Iraq in order to escort home the body of their respective brothers who have recently been killed in action, so it makes sense for Parker to be the one asked to locate the latest missing dog. However, as they start to investigate the missing dog, the answers are very cagey and then the drama starts with dead bodies turning up. This quickly morphs into a mystery thriller as the plot gets thicker in the search for the missing dog. Parker and Sandy have to work together in order to stay safe as well as locate Samson, and in doing that they come to realise that they have a much deeper connection that needs to be explored fully when they find the dog and return to US soil. Well written and full of drama, twists and turns it was like being in a complicated murder mystery as they worked together.
(4.5)A brief interlude and than bam flat out go,go,go. Fast paced suspense. This book touches on a lot of different emotions. Parker and Sandy are flying to Iraq to bring their brothers bodies home. There brothers were in the same unit and friends. Parker has been asked to do a general search, investigation for Samson, the missing K9. I will say relatively early in the book they get Samson, and then bodies start dropping and more. Every couple of pages there was a new twist, a new frenemy. I personally thought someone would be involved who wasn't;trying to avoid spoilers and that always makes a book extra special. Yes there is romance, its dealt with light enough that 16 and up could read. These days 14 and up. I digress. I personally enjoy watching a friendship, relationship build and then when they get together its not hard core erotica. Win for me!! Every book that I read by Dale Mayer has something to make me think. This one was what happens to military dogs, different handlers, being retired, etc.
For most, coming home at the end of active duty service leaves one with memories of good and bad, friends and loss. For Parker, the war has not released him as he faces more loss. He must head back to the battlefield in Iraq where his brother, Jerry, has fallen in combat and a missing K9 (Military War Dog) is lost, dognapped or on the run. A four legged war Hero, this dog deserves to come home.
Sandy is packing for a trip to Iraq to bring her fallen brother home. Though she has not met Parker, their brothers were best friends and were killed in the same action. Altho she is a military nurse, nothing truly prepares one for loss of a loved one.
As Parker and Sandy prepare to travel to Iraq, neither one could imagine what they were going to find there and the dangers they would face.
Parker is Book 6 in The K9 Files by Dale Mayer. In her true fashion, Dale's writing will pull you in and will not release you until long after you have turned the last page.

Parker and Sandy are returning to Iraq to escort home the bodies of their respective brothers. Parker has been asked by Badger, head of Titanium Corp. to check around and find Samson, a retiring K9 War Dog, who has gone missing. And that is the easiest part of the trip. Corruption, traitors, arms dealers all haunt their mission, while he's there. Fortunately, they have each other, and Samson, and are able to address the continuing issues that confront them, again and again. In a reliving of Murphy's Law, Parker, Sandy and Samson must continually out smart and outmanuver their enemies. And second guess who those enemies are. During their time together their relationship grows and their bond with Samson strengthens. Well plotted, this story brings us heroism, dedication and subterfuge. The two main characters are mature and at cross roads in their lives that bring them together and draw us into their stories in a fascinating and dramatic way. Best of the series, so far.
Parker is going to Iraq to escort his brother's body home. Saying goodbye is never easy and having been injured himself, he's made the decision not to re-up.
Sandy's brother was also killed in the same incident as Parker's brother. The two men were best friends so it's not a hardship for her to get to know Parker. A military nurse, she has also decided it's time to leave the service.
After visiting with some friends at the base, both are restless and Parker invites Sandy to accompany him as he tries to find out what happened to the missing K9 Samson.
Finding the dog and being chased by rebels is only the beginning. They've managed to open a whole can of worms and now don't know who they can trust.
Samson is an awesome dog and is quite the hero in this one. I love how he bonds with both Parker and Sandy.
Lots of action, hold your breath scenes, and a romance that blossoms in the midst of the chaos and grief.
In addition the lead in to the next book has me wanting it now!
Parker is on his way back to Iraq, but not for duty. He’s there to escort his brothers body back to the states after being killed in action by a roadside IED., along with his best friend Jeremy on the same mission. Sandy, Jeremys sister is also military but a nurse stationed in Coronado. She also is making the trip to escort her brother back home too. He also is searching for Samson, the war dog that went missing. After they locate the missing dog in a rebel camp, Parker rescues Samson but the rebels come after them guns blazing. Danger follows them from there back to the base. Parker and Sandy stumbled on a smuggling ring within the base. They didn’t know who they could trust. There’s murders, a kidnapping, attempts on their lives and a strong bond that grows between the two. A fast paced and action packed read. Very entertaining!

Each book in the series has kept my attention from start to finish. I started this particular book with high expectations as I have loved every book so far in the K9 Files! The story of Parker and Sandy and the K9 Samson went well beyond my expectations. . Any book with animals that are rescued is a major plus for me. The story in this book is so real to life. The fact that Parker and Sandy were sent to bring back their deceased brothers who were killed while serving in the military was very eye opening and the story-line seemed so accurate that I was close to tears when reading it. The book centered around rescuing the military dog but also had some action, suspense and romance too. I loved this book and I look forward to reading the next in the series!

This is the 6th book in The K9 Files series, it's well-written with a intriguing fast-paced storyline. These books are all standalone romantic suspense stories, no cliffhangers and just for an extra bonus we get to see some past beloved characters from the SEALs series. Parker and Sandy are both making the same journey to bring their brothers back home after being killed in the same incident, Parker gets asked to look for the missing K9 war dog, Samson, but in their search for Samson Parker and Sandy uncover a bigger darker problem troubling the base. There is plenty of drama and action, some major twists and turns and of course the blooming romance between Parker and Sandy. Highly entertaining, definitely recommend this book and the series.
Parker is a Navy Seal that is getting out in two weeks. He never expected to be going back to Iraq to escort his brothers body home. His brothers best friend died the same incident. His brothers friends sister a nurse in the Navy was there to escort her brothers body home also.As they knew Parker was going to Iraq Badger asked him to see if he can find a missing war dog. There is danger around every corner after Parker an Sandy stumble into a murder an then all hell breaks out. There are so many twists and turns to this story will keep you riveted until the last page and leave you begging for more.I love the way this amazing author brings the characters to life before your eyes and makes you feel their emotions and their pain.I can hardly wait to see whats next by this multi talented author.

When Parker heads back to Iraq, it’s to pick up his brother’s body and to try to find Samson, a missing K9 war dog. Sandy has also gone to the base to pick up her brother's body. As a distraction from their grief, Parker invites Sandy to accompany him on an initial search. Finding Samson went relatively smoothly, but staying safe until they leave is going to be much harder. I received a free copy of this book from the author through Booksprout. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This book is very suspenseful. I didn't want to put it down and read it in a little over a day. Their relationship is very believable. I love this book and I think that it is my favorite in this series. This book can also be enjoyed as a standalone.
Somehow Dale Mayer got even better than I thought was possible, as she is one phenomenal author on any given day but she did with this book!!!! I loved Lucas book and then this one has taken top place of my favourite of this series. Dale Mayer ability to make these characters and stories come to life is a gift and I can not wait for the rest of this series. At this rate I’m going to run out of stars!! This slow burn will have your heart pumping one minute with the connection between Parker and Sandy and then the next on the edge of your seat. This book is un-put-down-able!! Definite must add to your TBR list. Loved this story and I really want to get my hands on “Carter’s” book. Happy reading!!
This is book 6 in the K-9 Files series and it features Parker and Sandy. These two are flying to Iraq to escort each of their brothers back home for their funerals. Well there, Parker was asked to find a retired and missing canine agent. The fantastic adventure that followed the search was full of mystery and suspense but drug on much too long. The romance definitely need more spice than a kiss on the forehead and talks about forever and all this in one day. I understand being put in danger repeatedly can bring two people together but constant adrenaline rushes should have spiced it up instead of making them tired all the time.
The suspense and intrigue were fantastic. The romance definitely needed more...a lot more!
Another FANTASTIC story by Dale. This story was basically sad throughout the entire book. Parker went to Iraq to retrieve his brother who died. Sandy was on the same trip, retrieving her brother. Their brothers were best friends and died together. When they meet up, they start bonding. Once they find Samson, their nightmare started. It was an intense story that seemed to keep getting worse. Somewhere among all this negative activity, these two bonded with Samson and their attraction to each other grew. Once they finally made it home, they sealed their attraction to each other and started working on their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Dale! I would recommend this book!
