Hunted not only by the world's intelligence agencies, but also by the elite brotherhood of insurgents he betrayed, he has lived the past year like a ghost.
Until now.
MI6 agent Rachel Cox knows Aydin better than anyone. The only person who believes he is an ally in the ongoing war on terror, not the enemy.
So when a coded message arrives from him, warning her not to trust her own colleagues, Rachel must choose between her career and the truth.
But as Aydin hunts down those who destroyed his childhood, the trail he follows will lead him closer to home than he ever expected.
He won't stop until he has his revenge.
READERS ARE BEING GRIPPED BY THE SLEEPER 13 THRILLER
'Perfect for spy thriller lovers and fans of I Am Pilgrim, Orphan X' - Goodreads review
'I could not put down this book' - Netgalley reviewer
Rob is the author of the critically acclaimed and bestselling Enemy series and James Ryker series of espionage thrillers. His books have sold over half a million copies to date with many reviewers and readers having likened Rob's work to authors at the very top of the genre, including Lee Child and Vince Flynn. Rob began writing in 2009 following a promise to his wife, an avid reader, that he could pen a ‘can’t put down’ thriller. He worked for nearly 13 years for a global accounting firm after graduating from The University of Nottingham in 2002, specialising in forensic fraud investigations at both national and international levels. Rob now writes full time.

Warning! Fugitive 13 will seriously disrupt any routine you may normally have - and life as you know it is very likely be put on hold as this gripping follow up to ‘Sleeper 13’ demands your undivided attention! Well it certainly did mine!
Aydin Torkal is on the run from his enemies, and who are his enemies, you might ask? Well, for starters there are the world’s intelligence agencies, but in addition, he’s also being hunted by his former ‘brothers’ - elite jihadi insurgents who he has betrayed.
For the last year Aydin has successfully gone to ground, but now he’s ready to hunt down those responsible for his horrendous childhood in an Isis training camp in the Middle East - he was taken from his home by his own father - taken away from a normal happy family life in the UK, to a training camp, and turned into an elite insurgent soldier. Whilst in the training camp, these very young kids (besides being brutalised themselves) were also made to take part in, and witness horrific levels of violence. Now it’s time for revenge!
MI6 agent Rachel Cox is probably the only person in the world who believes that Aydin is on the side of right in the fight against terrorism, so when she receives a coded message from him telling her not to trust her colleagues, she has to decide whether her faith in him is justified.
The issue of global terrorism is of course, very relevant today, and author Rob Sinclair has written a superb follow up to the already exceptional Sleeper 13. I’ve only given an outline of this utterly gripping novel because it’s such a brilliant series, that honestly deserves to be read, but suffice to say, it was unputdownable, intense and pulsing with energy, there was relentless action, and it was exceptionally well written too - Brilliant!
*My thanks to Netgalley, Orion and Rob Sinclair for my ARC. I have given an honest unbiased review in exchange *
Disclaimer : This book is the second part of the story, so you might want to catch up on the first part. I hadn't, so there were many links that did not fall into place in time for me. However, that does not take away from the action in this one.
Aydin is on run from both the good guys and the bad. The bad guys think him a traitor to their cause, which he is. The good guys are not accepting that he is in fact not aligned with the terror perpetrators, not anymore atleast. The story keeps switching between Aydin, Rachel (a non corrupt MI6 agent) and Aydin's sister who is searching for her brother and father. The action part of the story was well written. Rachel seems to be a solid character. The MI6 sequences also seem genuine and not overly forced in the military sense.
Loyalties keep getting tested, realities keep changing, truth is getting blurred. Who are the real bad guys ? Something that will nag your mind even after the book is done. Sometimes, people are just pushed into bad situations without any knowledge of the cause. My heart goes out to all the young children in the ISIS affected regions, losing their childhood to such barbarians and brainwashed at such a young age. Aydin is one boy, set out to learn the truth and reveal the true purpose behind the creation of 'The Farm' where young children are tortured in the name of training. Rachel is the only who believes in him and his intentions.
A lot of the plot was thrilling, but I was getting a little confused since I had not read the first book. I would have liked to read about Aydin changing sides. So many of the scenes were heart breaking and yet the story required the ruthlessness to make a point. Some bad mangoes in a crate force the entire crate to be subjected to scrutiny. Aydin's character is so well written. Whip smart, adaptable and determined, what a formidable combination. Rachel, in this part of the series, takes a back seat, I guess. Not much for her to do in this plot other than follow Aydin's crumbs. Aydin takes the center stage. The end again is left with so many loop holes. Questions which will be answered only in the third book, I believe. But I am looking forward to reading more about Mr.Grey and his backstory.
Spy thrillers don’t get any more intense than this one!
Last year Rob Sinclair broadened his portfolio in the most spectacular way imaginable by launching SLEEPER 13. A more grounded take on espionage fiction, that felt ripped from today’s headlines.
With FUGITIVIE 13 Sinclair takes the scenario in an even more intriguing and scary direction. The story is ever twisting and the action hits you like a fright train. The characters are well rounded out and their motivations way more complex than as it’s the norm in this genre.
But what truly singles this book out as one of the best I’ve read in recent memory, is its ambiguity and unpredictability. You just never no from where the next attack will come or how far the conspiracy truly reaches. This is a read you won’t want to miss for many reasons and I already can’t wait to find out how it all ends with IMPOSTER 13 next year!
Fugitive 13 is not the first Rob Sinclair book that I've read. I've read Sleeper 13, the first book in this series and I've also read his James Ryker books as well. So I knew what to expect from this book. But boy was I wrong!! Rob Sinclair takes this book and this series to a completely new level, a level where I had expected this book to go. This book was brilliantly crafted, the storyline brilliantly weaved making every single page more exciting than the last page. I read this book in a day, that's how much I was engrossed in this book. The character of Aydin Torkal/Talatashar is such a complex but brilliantly created one. He's the typical anti-hero for whom you feel at every level and every stage. And the best part of this book was that the ending went somewhere I didn't expect it to go to. Overall a brilliant book and a wonderful continuation to the wonderful series. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book to anyone who wants to read a brilliant spy/terrorism thriller I'm looking forward to the final book in the series, Imposter 13, and can't wait to see how Rob Sinclair completes this entire story. And finally a big thank you to NetGalley and Orion Publishing Group for giving me this wonderful book in exchange of my honest review.
While the first book in the trilogy was a shock to the system, the second one is loosing momentum. I hope that the final book will pick up the suspense.
A superb follow up to Sleeper 13. Hitting the ground running, the story once again follows Aydin in his search for answers regarding the Farm and his father's and uncle's possible involvement. Billed as the world's most wanted terrorist, Aydin is on the run and against the clock as he searches for answers.
I loved this book. It is even better than Sleeper 13, if that's possible, and is a high octane, thrilling, rollercoaster of a read. Can't wait now for the final instalment in the trilogy, Imposter 13, which is due in 2020. Fugitive 13 is available in the UK and Ireland from mid-June. 5/5⭐
For this book to make complete sense I would recommend you read first in the trilogy, Sleeper 13, before starting this one. Also, it's a cracking read in itself so, why not! So, continuing where we left off in book one, Aydin Torkal - sleeper 13 - is on the run. Hiding and plotting his revenge on those who put him in the position he now finds himself in, those on both side of terrorism. But he can't go it all alone and soon finds himself on the radar once again. MI6 agent Rachel Cox still believes in the good within Aydin and is continuing her own search for him, with a very different motivation to her superiors. When a message comes in from him advising her not to trust certain people, she has a tough decision to make. We also meet Nilay, Aydin's sister as she too attempts to track her brother down and get to the truth of what happened to him as a child at the Farm. With so much going on - all wrapped up in secrets and lies - I'm going to leave it to the author to crack on with telling you the story as I fear to say much more could spoil things. It's no secret that I am a big fan of this author. From the very early days of the Enemy series, I have devoured every new release of his and enjoyed them all. There's something about the way he writes, the characters he creates, the stories he tells that just gels with me perfectly. It's high octane stuff all the way through as, together with the characters, the race for the truth hots up. Containing topics that are, sadly, very prevalent in this day and age it becomes a very scary ride as the "truth" is not what was expected. What makes this book/trilogy stand out is that it doesn't suffer from middle book syndrome. I have read several trilogies where the middle book doesn't really add too much to what has gone before, merely setting things up for the finale. This does not happen here, rather this is an action packed, thrilling ride all of its own. Yes, it does add fuel to the fire that will inevitable be sparked up in the conclusion but it is a very solid read in its own right. Only downside is that I have to wait for the conclusion - please don't make me wait too long. My thanks go to the Publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Before beginning this book, fasten your seat belts, prepare to not exit easily or quickly, and realize that some parts of the novel may require suspension of belief.
This novel pits Islamic terrorists against British intelligence agencies. It may sound like an evil v. good plot—far from it! The confusion, questionable moral choices and mixed motives of the intelligence forces are in some way disheartening, their behaviors often disturbingly similar to the terrorists in methods.
The terrorist known as Fugitive 13, Aydin by name, was taken as a young child to a terrorist training camp known as the Farm (oddly evocative of a CIA entity of the same name). As he matures, many questions arise, primarily why his father took him to the camp in the first place. Secondly, and all consuming, is his obsessive determination to find the Farm and liquidate the terrorists who shaped him. To achieve this goal he is willing to eliminate any and all who stand in his way.
He is being hunted by British agents, one knows as Mr. Gray, a man named Flannigan, and a woman agent known as Morse who has some sympathy for the young maTV ml milkn. On another track he is being sought by his sister who hasn’t seen him since he was nine years old and is constantly risking her life to find him. Those are the bare outlines of the plot filled out by terrifying chase scenes, incredible (some suspension of belief required escapes (by the fleeing Aydin who always seems to be the last man standing,) kidnapping, torture, and almost constant, bloody violence. It is in essence an action novel which evidently comes regularly with all of the above characteristic attributes. This reader was drawn to the book by an interesting synopsis, not knowing that the British author has written several books in this genre, and that this was the second book of a three part series. There was enough background from the first book in the series that the plot was not hopelessly confusing, but a context from reading the first book would have been helpful.
This is definitely a fast paced, entertaining, compelling book but a reader need enter with awareness of the violence and not always believable events, and with the need to absorb relevant details as the book proceeds. Although the reading journey was enjoyable, I will not pursue the series further: too many books, too little time.
Aydin Torkal is on the run. He escaped when Wahid was captured after setting off explosions across Europe, but instead of having his bravery acknowledged in breaking and destroying the group trained on “The Farm” he’s been vilified and hunted down by SIS (The Secret Intelligence Service UK).
Rachel Cox, who befriended Aydin Torkal has lost touch with him and is desperate to get to him before her colleagues. She does manage to meet and befriend his sister, Nilay, who is also trying to find not just Aydin, but also her father, who had kidnapped Aydin from their home in London when he was just a young boy and taken him to the Farm.
I’ve read all of Rob Sinclair’s books and loved every series and become truly involved with all his protagonists, but something has changed with this new series. I now find myself wanting to jump inside the book and take Aydin’s hand and help him. He’s a broken character who needs understanding and dare I say it, some unconditional love to help him.
Why do I say this? I think that this series is showing me that possibly there is a farm hidden in some inhospitable place where young boys are taken and trained to become terrorists. Highly trained not just in surviving, but computer skills, bomb-making and all the other "specialities" that a terrorist would need to help destroy the Western world as we know it. However, I’m sure among those boys are some who realise that what they’re being trained to do is totally wrong and that they need to break the mould.
Rob Sinclair’s Aydin is the one who broke the mould but is still completely misunderstood.
Rachel Cox tries so hard to be a good agent for SIS, but are some of her fellow co-workers perhaps as honest and caring as she is?
Rob Sinclair, I wait with bated breath to read the next in the series. Thank you! Once again, you’ve given me, not just a brilliant storyline, but food for thought.

Breakaway Reviewers received a copy of the book to review.
Fugitive 13, follows on with the ongoing story of Aydin Torkal (Sleeper 13), he is on the run from the remaining Sleepers and the people behind the terrorist cell that he belongs to. As his past comes back to haunt him and he finds himself not only the hunter, but the hunted he finds himself being taken back in time. Aydin's childhood was cut short when he was taken at a young age and found himself being instructed on how to become a terrorist and carry out acts that cause death and insight hatred among people, pitting man against man.
Rachel Cox, is the MI6 agent that he met before going on the run, she trusts him and sees the good in him that others don't see.
As Aydin is searching for answers to several questions that he has about his past, perhaps what he finds out will hit closer to home than he at first expects. He realises that he doesn't know who to trust or who is telling the truth for that matter as secrets of his past are slowly revealed.
Will Aydin's plans to wreak revenge work out or will they backfire on him?
This is a fast paced thriller that will keep you guessing until the last few chapters, as the reader is taken on a roller coaster of a ride and fed titbits throughout to keep you engaged with both the plot and the characters.
I am really enjoying the journey that Rob Sinclair is taking us on with his Sleeper 13 series. If you have not had chance to read Sleeper 13 yet which is the first in the series, then why not grab the chance to get a copy now and immerse yourself in the lives of the characters within it. Then you'll be ready to follow the ongoing journey too in Fugitive 13, the second in the series.
My thanks to the Author via Tracy Fenton of Compulsive Readers and TBConFB fame for the opportunity to take part in the Blog tour. I received a free copy of the story in exchange for taking part, this in no way influenced my rating or review.
This is a fast paced story; full of action, bombs and spies. Ready to run for your life? This is the second part of the book Sleeper 13, and in the beginning you’ll be a little lost. There’s a lot of background that is explained on the book but that I felt like I would had loved to read before this one. But don’t worry, you’ll understand the story completely without reading the previous one. This is an interesting story, Aydin Torkal, the Sleeper 13, has stolen some precious data, but we don’t know why or what does it contain, simply that all the agencies around the world are searching for him dead or alive. Since the beginning there are a lot of questions; what is Aydin looking for? What is really The Farm? The story is told between 3 characters; Aydin hiding from the world and trying to survive. Rachel Cox, a brave MI6 agent, who knows Aydin and doesn’t believe what her superiors are telling her, so she will have to discover the truth if she wants to continue alive. And Nylan who is trying to find her brother and father that disappeared from her life a long time ago. This is a fiction thriller, but I don’t think is too far away from reality; how much the famous “secret agencies” know about the terrorists and bombings that don’t let us know about? The story makes you re-think about what do we listen to the news and what is really happening, how much the news are changed to fulfill the government’s ideals? This is a spy novel, I really liked the story and I wanted to know more, I can’t wait to read the next adventure!
I had the pleasure of reading the authors first book in this series ‘Sleeper 13’ earlier in the year and I absolutely loved it. High action, fast paced, great characters, what was not to love. I finished the first book desperate to find out what happens next so I had a sneaky feeling before I even started this book that I was going to enjoy it.
The first few chapters did not disappoint and just like in any good action film, this book threw me right in the middle of the action with some great action packed chapters to whet my appetite.
I really enjoyed seeing how Aydin and Rachel’s character’s developed throughout this book and despite the fact that they appear to be on separate sides, they still seem to be working towards the same goal. Their differences and how they join together and these characters story in general made for a really enjoyable read.
Are there some parts that are slightly far fetched? Well yes. Aydin seems to succumb to horrific injuries yet still manage to plough on like a shire horse, but let’s face it, most action films also adopt this seemingly invincible style towards their main characters and I still enjoy them.
If you like action then I really think you would like this book. I hope there’s a further book to come in the series as I feel that Aydin and Rachel’s story is not quite finished.
So I bought this book a while ago (smart decision) and when I looked at it briefly I realised it was the 2nd in a series so I waited, bought the first book (another smart decision) and then read this one after.
So anyone reading this review, I would strongly advise to read the series in order.
This book follows on from what happened in the that first book and I'll not spoil it for those who have not read it, but needless to say, if you liked the first one (Sleeper 13) this is even better and begins to fill in some of the holes from earlier on, which was why the last one scored 4* for me.
It is fast paced, full of action and drama but unlike those kind of books there is quite a lot of detail about the characters that mean even in the quieter moments of the book there is much to find out about their back stories and enough likeabilitity in them to want to find out more. I could hardly put the book down.
I literally cannot wait for the third and final book in the trilogy.
This was a book that I accidentally picked up without realising it was a sequel. It did make sense without having read the first one although I felt as though I missed out on certain aspects (100% my fault for not reading the first one).
Overall the plot was unique in comparison to any other book I’ve read. I loved getting parts of Nilay’s life in the caliphate and seeing all of the characters stories intertwine at certain points. There was a LOT of research into the book beforehand that was clear throughout. I felt as though I was learning about aspects of MI5/MI6 the entire time I was reading and loved it. I’m hoping that by reading the first one in the upcoming weeks I’ll get more of the “origin story” of Aydin, Rachel and other characters.
Much of the time I was a little confused and felt that some things were tied up very quickly for convenience. There were certain aspects that just seemed to drop off into nothingness or were cut short very abruptly. In saying that, there is a 3rd book in the series that I’ll be picking up in the future which might elaborate on points that were previously dropped.
In some chapters I was absolutely on the edge of my seat, I was reading with my hand over my mouth and could feel my excitement as Aydin was running across rooftops or Cox was uncovering a significant piece of information. If you want to go on a wild ride then this is the book for you.
I felt as though if I’d read the first book I might have enjoyed this book a lot more because I would have had the character development. Regardless, this book is 3 ⭐️’s for me because although the writing is brilliant and fast-paced, I don’t think I would read it again and I felt dissatisfied with some of the character/plot tie-ups (potentially due to not reading the first book, I will update this review if my opinion changes in the upcoming weeks).
If you’re looking for something with action that’s fast-paced, easy to read and exciting then this should be your next pick-up. This isn’t going on my favourites list but was a solid read 📚
WOWSERS so much going on here... firstly it was pointed out to me that this is the second book in a trilogy so first thing I did was buy the first book "Sleeper 13" which is a must read before reading "Fugitive 13".
I read both books back to back and barely came up for air, I could not put them down.... absolutely loved it, its not normally the kind of book I go for but it was recommended to me as I had enjoyed "I am Pilgrim"! I cannot fault it
A chilling thriller with twist, turns, betrayals, exploitation, sleeper cells.... I could go on, the list is endless, suffice to say please read this, you will not regret it!
Many thanks to Netgalley and Orion Publishing Group for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest opinion.
This is our second time meeting Aydin Torkal - with the first being a sort of introduction type - and this second being the full on deal from the beginning. I enjoyed Sleeper 13, but for me Fugitive 13 took it to another level.
The story feels authentic and full of emotion. With 'time travel' chapters you get a glimpse into another life - a very horrific life, but not a life without purpose. This storyline and the present day run alongside each other which keeps the momentum going. I was constantly wanting to read more of each!
I hope this will not be the last we see of Aydin Torkal!
Although fiction, this book is so realistic that I can picture it played out in real life. My entire life, we’ve been fighting a war on terror. But what if we caused it all along?? Ayden was groomed from childhood to be a sleeper jihadist. Then he decided to fight back! He unearths truths that rock his view of the world and while he’s technically the bad guy, I can’t help but see him as good. This book is fast paced, full of action, and is a great read! But leaves me ultimately wondering about real life scenarios. Have we always been on the right side?
Once again Rob Sinclair delivers a roller coaster thriller, as agents track down the last of the 13 jihadist terrorists trained at ‘ the Farm’. Starting in Andalucia, then racing across Egypt, Iran and Afghanistan, Sinclair’s insight into these contested lands is as sharp as ever. A fantastic follow up to Sleeper 13. I can’t wait for the final part of the Sleeper trilogy/box set.
The world's most wanted terrorist. The "farm" where he and his. Brother were taken too at the insistence of their father. Was everything a setup, a lie? Was M16 partially to blame? Did they actually have a controlling hand? Or was it just a rogue agent? Deceit, betrayal. Non stop action. A very believable scenario. Enjoyed. Immensely!
Aided once more by MI6 Agent Rachel Cox, Aydan Torkal, Sleeper 13, is back looking to finish what he started, eliminating all those connected to The Farm but also discover why his father handed him to them. Many twists and turns betrayals and deceit later leave this reader eagerly awaiting the apparent denouement released in 2020.
This writer goes on too long with descriptive details. I started skipping pages about half way in to get thru to the end. . . That wasn't! Not so sure I like this marketing ploy of 4" novels broken into 3 -4 books. Doesn't make me want to find out what happens next. Use the same character if you want but a different story line, please.
This book left me feeling very confused. I understand that there's a third book to tie the whole story together yet this one felt convoluted and rushed. I'd recommend it purely for the series. I've never been able to not finish a book once I started reading it and sometimes that's a bad thing. For me, this is one of those times.
An excellent read, full of tense moments and trying to work out who are the good guys and who's lying. Very well researched and a great follow on from Sleeper 13. I love the style of writing from Rob Sinclair and I'm not surprised his other novels have been hits. Looking forward to the third book in the trilogy.
This is the follow up book to Sleeper 13 but can be read as a standalone. The book follows Aydin, he is Sleeper 13 and he is on the run. Living as a ghost, he has no-one he can trust.
Rachel, an M16 agent is the only one that believes that Aydin is not the enemy and now she must decide whether or not to trust her gut.
61-2020. Just one more book in this trilogy to go. I’ll check it out soon enough. Our hero (?) sets out to destroy a terrorist network. He is chased by bad guys and by MI6 agents as he scurries around the globe. Some justice is meted out. There’s just enough bad guys to chase for the last volume in this series. Fast plot, quality mayhem, characters with just enough roughness to be interesting.
Read "sleeper 13" first. Fantastic continuation in the series, reading alongside the "Orphan X" series it's a great contrast with a common theme of adolescents indoctrinated to do the work of others. Have already purchased the third installment "imposter 13" which will be read soon.
Didn't know what to expect and pleasantly surprised. A bit excessive with the violence and probably did his medical research on Google, but a gripping thriller. And he needs a better proof reader - so many grammatical errors..
The pace does not abate in this second book that leads Aydin on the path to truth....but who is the enemy and who is he truly running from? The answer unfolds with unexpected twists and turns and yet does not quite reveal itself. Roll on book 3. An exciting read...Recommended.
Implausible plot line. Drawn out. One book left, where all 3 could have been written in one. On the back of the book it says you should read this if you liked I Am Pilgrim. Just read I Am Pilgrim as it knocks spots off the 13 series.
