Someone on Sanibel is trying to kill world-renowned nature photographer Bertram "Birdy" McMurtry, the Indiana Jones of ornithologists. Will they succeed? It's up to reporter and amateur sleuth Guinivere Jones to stop them before they do.
The fourth book in the Sanibel Island Mystery series, BYE BYE BIRDY takes readers back to sunny, shell- and bird-filled Sanibel Island, Florida, and follows local reporter Guin Jones as she tries to prevent another murder.
Filled with beloved characters from the first three books—including Guin’s best friend, Shelly; her partner in crime solving, Craig; her devoted beau, Dr. Harrison Hartwick; her demanding felines, Flora and Fauna; and her favorite sparring partner, Detective William O’Loughlin—as well as several new ones, BYE BYE BIRDY is sure to entertain cozy mystery and Sanibel lovers.
Jennifer Lonoff Schiff is the author of the popular Sanibel Island Mystery series and the stand-alone novels Tinder Fella, a delightful rom-com set in NYC, and Something's Cooking in Chianti, a culinary mystery set in Italy.
Prior to her career as an author, Jennifer worked as a fact-checker, researcher, writer, and/or editor for a variety of magazines and book publishers. She eventually left the publishing world to found a boutique marketing communications agency that helped companies tell their story, for which she won several awards.
When not busy working on her next novel, Jennifer can be found playing with her two cats, taking long walks on the beach, or with her nose in someone else's book.
Highly recommend this fun page-turner! Read about all our favorite characters and many locations, plus more, from books one through three. It's a great read for anyone and very meaningful if you have visited Sanibel and Captiva, FL. It makes you look forward to returning and to the next book in this well-written series.
These books are a great beach read especially if you are visiting Sanibel. Lots of true locations are mentioned in the book! Kudos to the author for recommending some superb businesses on the island.
I never saw the ending coming. (So what else is new right? LOL) I had someone else completely picked out as the bad guy. This was another great book and I love reading about the characters and all the small side stories about the other people in Guin's life. I would have loved to read more about her visit with her parents! That would have been a RIOT!! (Hope that wasn't a spoiler!) If you need a GREAT read for Thanksgiving break I highly recommend this one!!
Jennifer L. Schiff expertly crafts the perfect mystery beach read with her four books. I purchased all four while vacationing on Sanibel, and read all four within four days! It’s fascinating to read about places you frequent while vacationing. Be sure to visit Gene’s Books while you’re in the island too! I love Schiff’s writing and cannot wait to read the next installment of Guin’s adventures in Sanibel!
Another fun read by Jennifer L. Schiff. This time Guin has found herself in a situation of a missing person. Who could have taken him? And what is going on with the detective. Interesting situations pop up for Guin to inspect. Lots of mentions of places in Sanibel as always. Love this series!!
This book was probably my favorite in the series! The story was fun and I felt like the mystery in this one wasn’t as easily solved, which made the book hard to put down. I can’t wait for book five!
Another great book to the series. What a great summer read series! I love the mischief Guin gets into. I hope that Guin either chooses Ris or the detective…I am rooting for the detective. This book does not have a murder, but an attempted murder of a famous ornithologist, Birdy. Guin is doing a piece on Birdy for the newspaper. First Birdy is poisoned and in the hospital. On his release, he is shot so back to the hospital. When he is released to his agent, he is then kidnapped!!! Guin to the rescue!! What a great story. I feel the ending was done too quickly when she was to meet Ris in Australia for Valentine’s Day, but the mystery was done and I guess loose ends needed to get tied. Nevertheless, it is a great summer read!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed Schiff’s 4th book in the Sanibel Island series. Guin manages to solve the mystery while juggling reporting, real estate hunting, a long distance romance and a potential competing love interest. I’m rooting for the detective on that front.
Lots of fun to read. I always enjoy series books with repeat characters I can come back to. That it’s set in Florida makes it even more fun. Now for a trip to the left coast for some shell hunting and place mapping!
Bye Bye Birdie This is the 4 th book in the mystery series Sanibel Island. This story takes us back to sunny, Sanibel Islan. It follows the local reporter Guinn Jones as she tries to prevent another murder. Filled with beloved characters Shelly her best friend Craig her partner in crime solving Dr Harrison Hartwick her beau her cats Flora and Fauna and her favorite sparring partner Detective William O'Loughlin as well as several new ones. I really love this series and I will continue to read these until I finish them.
Another cozy mystery on Sanibel island. Sanibel is quaint but a lot of shenanigans going on on the little island. Guin needs to step back and not put her life in danger. Just because she writes the story doesn’t mean she needs to solve the mystery.
I enjoyed this delightful page turning adventure on Sanibel and Captiva Islands. Jennifer’s mystery novels are fun and remind me of my childhood Nancy Drew novel reading. Guin’s relationships continue to evolve in each novel and continue to surprise.
Wow! I can’t think of a better way to explain. I like Ris and Guin, but needs to get her feelings straightened out for the detective - LOL. I was about to start another book, but I have got to read #5 first. GREAT SERIES!
This and book number two was amazing! I couldn't put them down. This Guin and her love life I keep going back and forth both men seem not to put her first and just work themselves continuously!
I love these books. The journalist/sleuth is an appealing character and the Sanibel setting is charmingly and accurately portrayed. I also love the detective!
I love these books taking place on Sanibel. This one really had me guessing. I love how Jennifer describes all the places over been too. On to next one!
Another fun book In the continuing series about the reporter on the Sanibel/Captiva newspaper on Sanibel island! Love how Guin figures out who did what?
