Sometimes the end is the start of forever…

Emma and Nathan couldn’t be more different. But when they meet in a hospital waiting room, to the sound of a beating clock and surrounded by faded magazines, they are both terrified, nervous and alone. And they have one fatal thing in common…

Emma lives a quiet life. She works in a library. She looks after her disabled mother. She lives vicariously through the well-thumbed pages and cracked spines of her beloved books.

Nathan spends his days fifteen thousand feet above the ground, soaring through the air, stomach somersaulting, as a sky diving instructor. He lives hard and fast, treating every day like it’s his last.

As fate throws Emma and Nathan together, everything is about to change.

Emma has never been kissed, or tasted champagne, or travelled abroad. Nathan has never fallen in love, worn odd socks, or grown a sunflower from a seed.

Emma and Nathan vow never to waste an hour, knowing that goodbye could come all too soon. But as they lose their hearts to one another against all the odds, have they found each other too late?

An utterly heartbreaking yet ultimately uplifting novel about the redemptive power of love and how the end isn’t the end at all...

In this heartbreaking tale by Catherine Miller, two people find love. However, their love has an expiration date. Emma and Nathan meet in the waiting room of a cancer clinic. They both noticed a significant change in their bodies and are about to undergo tests that will forever alter their lives - and their futures.

Emma lives with and cares for her ailing mother. She works at a library. Working with books gives Emma just enough excitement to get through everyday life. Nathan, on the other hand, leads an exciting life. He jumps out of airplanes for a living. As a sky diver instructor, Nathan lives life fast and hard. Nathan has a recurring dream. He is 27, and will always be 27. So, each and every day is critical to him.

When Emma and Nathan decide to be there for one another throughout this incredible ordeal, two things became apparent: their feelings for one another would grow exponentially, and they only had so much time together. Before they know it, it will be time to say goodbye. How much can they squeeze into their lives?

This novel by Catherine Miller yanked my heart out, stomped all over it, squeezed out any blood left in it, and then carelessly handed it back to me. But, I loved it anyway! I loved watching two people fall in love. I enjoyed watching them share new experiences together. I also loved Emma's relationship with her mother, and also how Nathan treated her mother as well.

I rallied with the pair from the very first page. Reading this book was rather cathartic for me and I felt that this book was a very important read. We never know when it will be our last moment. So, we must make life count. This one-sitting read is one that I will not forget any time soon. I look forward to reading much more by Catherine Miller in the future.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review in exchange for my honest opinion.

Emma Wood and Nathan Foxdale meet in a hospital waiting room, Emma’s rather shy, and she shocked when a handsome stranger starts talking to her. Both are really nervous, attending their medical appointments alone and Nathan asks Emma if she would like some moral support and she can return the favor.

Emma’s a librarian, she looks after her disabled mother Carole and has never had a boyfriend. She has a best friend Alice, together they run a support group for young people who are caring for sick loved one's and missing out on their teenage years.

Nathan’s a sky diving instructor, he does tandem jumps from fifteen thousand feet, he lives his life at a fast pace and he’s a bit of a maverick. Nathan's mother passed away when he was a baby, he was raised by his grandparents and he doesn’t get on with his half-brother Marcus.

While waiting for their results, Nathan takes Emma to see the Puffins and Emma introduces him to her mother Carole. Emma and Nathan are the complete opposites, they vow to not waste an hour of whatever time they have and they fall in love. Nathan senses he doesn’t have long in this world, and together they create a foundation called Everlasting Acts and unfortunately Nathan's right.

I received a copy of 99 Days With You from NetGalley and Bookouture in exchange for an honest review, I haven’t cried so much since I read A Walk To Remember, Catherine Miller’s book is beautifully written, poignant, I highly recommend reading it and you will need a big box of tissues, and five stars from me.

Having read the blurb first, I knew this was a book I would love and would have me crying like a baby and I was right on both counts. Cancer is something that affects many of our lives. Whether we have been affected by it directly or through loved ones, a story like this is always going to be close to home.

Emma and Nathan are total opposites but a chance meeting in a hospital waiting room changes both their lives for ever. As much as I really enjoyed Emma’s character, Nathan’s character I absolutely loved. I would love an ounce of his energy and positivity. His passion for living his life to the fullest is something that I think we could all learn from. I loved also that in the turmoil of what he is going through, he manages to find a way of helping others.

I did so well, managing to not shed a tear most of the way through this novel. A story like this is guaranteed to be a tear jerker and when those tears started, they didn’t stop. In fact they just came faster and harder. Knowing now how this story made me cry, do I wish I hadn’t read it? Not a chance. Whilst it literally broke my heart, it very much lived up to being an uplifting story also.

99 Days With You is a thought provoking, heart wrenching but beautiful love story of two souls making the most of a life changing diagnosis. The author focuses all the attention on these two characters and it felt like I was getting an intimate look into their journey and I felt privileged to be sharing it with them. Such a beautiful and well told story that has taught me not to focus on loss but on living and making every day count.

My thanks to Bookoutre and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

This was definitely a touching read with an important message - - don't waste a minute of your life! Live ever hour to its fullest!

Nathan and Emma meet in the waiting room while waiting to get further examination done of each of their "lumps". It's definitely an ironic meeting. Nathan has always lived life like there is no tomorrow. He skydives and does anything daring that he wants while Emma has led a very sheltered existence working in a library and caring for her sick mother. Nathan teaches her how to truly live and she saves him from his biggest fear of being alone. Together they teach each other how to love and be loved. They are polar opposite personalities but together they compliment each other perfectly.

Obviously, if you've read the blurb or thought much about the title, you realize this couple is on borrowed time, so I suggest you have tissues at the ready. The tears will flow but they will be worth it. This story leaves you feeling sad for the loss but also hopeful for the future.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC.

Wow! This is a heartbreaker of a story but with a strong message - live. Every hour at a time.

Loved Nathan and Emma - how they met was serendipitous but what they both went through was heartbreaking. Though they managed to find pieces of happiness and laughter along the way.

This book will not be for everyone, there isn’t a HEA in the traditional sense but there is an ending of hope and remembrance.

Thank you to NetGalley for the copy.

This was certainly a moving, emotional and inspirational story. It had the potential to rip my heart out and hand it to me while laughing maniacally. Somehow, though, it didn't quite get all the way there for me. Oh trust me, it caused a few tears for sure, but it felt...what's the word I'm looking for...maybe contrived, meant to pull on my heartstrings, mechanical almost. I just didn't quite get the connection, the jolt of love and devastation I might have expected. And I suppose that's good, because one only has so many tissues they should be allotted. If you like a heart-wrenching story with a hopeful message about never wasting even an hour of your life, then grab a few of your allotted tissues and jump on into these pages.

Nathan Foxdale and Emma Green are as different as night and day. Nathan is a skydives and believes that life should be lived hard and fast without fear. Emma Green is sweet and innocent and takes care of her mother who has multiple sclerosis. The only adventure she gets is from the books that she reads. However, the one thing that brings both Nathan and Emma together is a chance meeting in a clinic around the same time they are both experiencing health issues. Both alone and scared they vow to be there for one another no matter the outcome.

99 Days With You by Catherine Miller is an emotionally heartbreaking story and I knew at some point during the course of reading it was definitely going to make me cry. Oh boy, did I cry! Miller writes from the heart and has created a story that is so pure and so sweet on how two different people can find each other and live for the moment which really is a very strong theme throughout this story. It really has you thinking of your own life and how one should live every moment as you are not promised tomorrow. This is definitely something that I have taken from this story and has made me realize to stop procrastinating on the things that I want to. While this story does not have a HEA in the traditional sense, there is closure along with hope for the future.

I really loved Emma as a character. She is such a good daughter taking care of an ailing mother. I don’t know how many twenty-seven year olds would do this. Even in my own family down the line, I can see how healthy members of my family wash their hands of another family member who is sick. I even took care of my uncle’s wife who was sick after he passed away where her own brothers did absolutely nothing. My mother always tells me I have a big heart and will help anyone in need and maybe this is true and this is where I can see myself relating to Emma. Nathan really stole this story for me though. He has such a passion for life and really teaches Emma to not waste a single hour and to do the things that make you happy and to live with no regrets.

I am not going to lie, this story will make you shed tears. It is not an easy story to get through, but it is a story we can all relate to. Although it is a heartbreaking and gut wrenching story, it is also a beautiful love story centered on two people who may not have met otherwise. It was so beautiful watching Emma and Nathan connect, virtual strangers being there for one another in one of the most devastating of times.

99 Days With You is heartfelt and honest with a powerful message that will stay with you long after the last page is read. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. This is a definite five star read for me.

Truly beautifully written.

As a breast cancer survivor who has only recently finished treatment I did wonder whether I should read this book. I'm so pleased that I did. It tells a beautiful and heartbreaking story of love and life. The way Emma copes with her own journey along side that of Nathan is a fact of life that I've been introduced to since my own diagnosis. You have no idea how tough cancer is until you face it yourself. I think I sobbed through most of the book, a good thing, as it bought out a lot of feelings that I had bottled up. I absolutely loved that it was full of hope, positivity, and compassion. A truly beautiful book.

It's the little things in life which count the most, aren't they? Feeling the sand between your toes for the very first time. A bar of chocolate being bought for you just because. A little note left on your pillow. Spending 5 minutes outside just dancing in the rain. Little things to one person can end up being massive things for others, and the two people who cement that fact sublimely are Emma and Nathan.

Emma and Nathan meet by chance. An unfortunate, heart-breaking chance which involves an illness which many of us know the devastation of. Cancer. Love has no limit, yet for these two characters, everything now has a limit. I couldn't get over Emma and Nathan's approach to their emotional news. Both people handled it in completely different ways, highlighting the differences between how things can be perceived from one person to another. They may have one thing in common, yet the way it affects each of them couldn't be more different.

Watching the relationship blossom between Emma and Nathan was simply breathtaking. It was intimate. Profound. And of course, incredibly emotional as I 'watched' their lives come together from diagnosis.

'99 Days With You' has a very important message attached to it about living life to the full, to the best of our abilities, and making every little moment in our lives count. Including those all important little ones.

Catherine Miller, in my opinion, takes a subject which a lot of people are weary of, pulls it back to its bare bones and rebuilds it with her incredible storytelling, and eyeopening emotion a way that leaves me lost for words and breathless. I was spellbound by the sheer beauty of '99 Days With You' and the atmospheric portrayal of life itself.

Go and hug your loved ones. Hug yourself. Buy that pair of shoes. Buy this book - nobody wants to be the most rich bitch in the cemetery who regrets a single thing.

I knew this was going to be difficult for me to read, I knew it would be heart-wrenching & I also knew that reading this book would almost kill me. So what did I do? I clicked & added it to my kindle. If you do decide to read this, get your box of kleenex & a glass of water because you will need to rehydrate. Yes, it is that sad. I won't revisit the blurb, that says enough on it's own, it all begins when two very different people meet in a doctor's office, are alone & somehow feel the need to support each other through their appointments. Nathan has co-worker/friends but no close family. Emma, lives with & cares for her disabled mother while working part-time & has one close friend. Neither want to burden the people around them so they decide to keep their illnesses secret while giving the other friendship & the support they need. This friendship quickly blossoms into a romance & I am dreading this, someone is going to become very ill, someone's life will be shredded & I'm not sure I can weather this. I am so attached to this couple, I want them together & happy & I want all this unjust crap to go away. It doesn't.
I sobbed while reading the last few chapters, had to stop many times, I could not face the reality coming. It's horrible to lose someone you love & somehow it's that much worse when they are young & this is what I found the most difficult to accept.
The book does not have a happy ever after. It does however have a clear message leaving us with a
new perspective on life & the blessings that it can bring.
If you enjoy a good cry, this story is for you. Beautifully written, painful & one that I will store away to re-read again.

How many times have I told myself to stay clear of books that have a really sad storyline! Do I ever listen to myself?....it would appear not! When I started the story of Emma and Nathan, I just knew I’d be needing a big box of tissues before I’d even got past the opening chapter. Emma and Nathan meet in a hospital waiting room, both there to receive probably the worst news of their lives. Their characters were lovely, but you couldn’t help but feel overwhelmingly sad for them both.

Having received their diagnoses, they also found each other, and they certainly made the most of their times together, knowing that it would all come to an end soon. I mean, how desperately sad does that sound!! And yes, whilst I was blubbering away into my tissues like the big emotional wreck that I was, I also realised that it was just as much a happy story as it was a sad one. They had both found each other at the times in their lives that they needed someone. They shared the good times and the bad times, and showed that even when life looks bleaker than you can ever imagine, the love of another person puts a little ray of sunshine onto the horizon for you to focus and hold onto!

This story isn’t for everyone because of the topic it’s covering, but it was very sensitively written. I have to admit, I did struggle with this book but this was because it resurfaced a lot of personal memories which sometimes are difficult. I do, however, really admire the author for covering such a difficult subject which others may shy away from. It’s an equally heart-breaking and uplifting story that teaches you to live life to the full, as you never know what might be just around the corner. I would definitely recommend, but make sure you have a large box of tissues to hand!!

I wanted to like this story, I seriously did. I am a fan of heart-break and doomed relationship stories. But this whole story just felt so off. I just couldn't connect with Emma and Nathan. I couldn't connect to their feelings as well. It was just so daunting right from the get-go. Nathan's character development and the plot were a little too abrupt for me.

It began well, with them meeting in the waiting room and being there for each other. I liked the start, but after that, it felt like the author was trying to fit a love story in the time crunch. They are loners, hardly any family, no friends during their time of need.. just too much depressing. It's obvious that they would strike some kind of relationship. I think that created a disconnect with me. They felt too much, went out of the way too much.. just within 99 days. I mean, I get it, you really don't have the time to do things grand when time is limited, but their connection felt unreal to me. It didn't feel natural. But I've seen plenty of good ratings for this one, so don't mind me.

I will give an extra star for Nathan's final ride and the charity in his name.

This is a heartbreaking story but so uplifting and one that makes us realise that we must not take everyday things for granted but try and live life to the full. Emma and Nathan meet in a hospital waiting room awaiting a cancer diagnosis. Emma is a quiet, shy librarian who is a carer for her mother. Nathan has an outgoing personality, has travelled the world and is currently a skydiver. They are two totally different people but both facing a struggle with cancer. Before long they realise that they have fallen in love. We then follow their journey as they battle with their illnesses. The strength that they give each other and how they make some of their wishes come true is truly inspirational. I must admit I struggled at times as it brought back some of my personal memories, but it was such a heartbreaking but uplifting story that I had to finish. The last few chapters had me in floods of tears but it was a lovely end to a very special book. One that will stay with me, a must read!

It wasn't until the last 3 chapters when I started to cry, I still had hope all the way through and then there was a cruel twist of reality. This book is just so and too realistic. It is gorgeous but so heart breaking and the emotions I feel. As much as I love books as an escapism sometimes some books just hit you so hard, and this one does just that. I mean the title of the book is fair warning.

I loved Nathan and Emma, their story was awesome and so sad. I don't want to spoil the book for anyone but they are a couple of people that you want to be around and that you want to wrap in cotton wool.

The audiobook is so short and it's still not enough. I wanted more, I wanted 999 days, 9999 days!!

The tears just won't stop! Gah!! I honestly thought I might get away with it!

It is just so beautiful, and wonderful and all that's in between. It will make you look at life and realise that it is way too short and it's for living.

I don't want to say anything else, just read it, and have the tissues nearby.

Even if it’s the first book that I’ve read by the author, this story has such an amazing message for all of us. Because we live in a contemporary world full of ignorance and false pretences, we value more the material things and we take all for granted, we easily forget that a second or just a moment can change our lives forever and also we forget to just Live, just find happiness in small things around us.
Such a heartbreaking story but also so fulfilling in a way that only few stories in life can aim that in our hearts and minds.
Both Emma and Nathan had a not so good or happy life but, after a chance encounter in the least expected way or place, they find each other and help to open up to new things and feelings in life because they just want to live a bit something that everyone should have throughout their lives.
Great writing, great characters and a heartbreaking story but so much more than only simple feelings.

I knew from the blurb that 99 Days With You was going to be a tear-jerker. And it was.

Emma and Nathan are two strangers who meet in a waiting room, each there at the doctor's office because of a cancer scare. They embark on a wonderful friendship and find love in one another's hearts and comfort in one another's arms. This is not a lighthearted romance that you'll want to read on the beach. It's intense and it's sad, but Nathan and Emma's friendship-turned-romance is a stark reminder that we need to embrace every hour of every day, because we are never promised a tomorrow.

While there are relations between Nathan and Emma, the nitty-gritty happens off the page so the story is focused on their ups and downs as they come to terms with their respective cancer diagnoses, the progression of their illnesses and how they are able to find joy in every one of the 99 days they know one another.

I received an advanced copy via NetGalley and the publisher and voluntarily left a review.

What would you do, if you knew you could only do one more thing.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Net galley for giving me an opportunity to read an advanced copy if this book.

A breathtaking beautifully written story that leaves you reading through tears but also smiling and finding joy in any sadness.

It is an inspirational novel about not wasting an hour and enjoying the smallest moments that life brings.

I loved the concept of two strangers in need of support and finding it in each other and how one act of kindness can change your life in the most stunning ways.

The only negative comment I could make about this book was that it ended. I look forward to the next emotionally insightful and life enriching book by Catherine Miller.

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for my review. When I read the blurb about this book I knew I had to read it. It sounded uplifting and so sad all at the same time. I had high expectations for this story but for me it fell short. Granted, you have to be in the mood to be sad-know what I mean? Clearly this book about two people who have cancer that meet and fall in love-the odds are not going to be good for one of them-right? So I thought I would still read a wonderful book even if it made me cry my eyes out. The trouble for me was that I didn't fall in love with the main characters, which you must do in order to love this plot line. They both were nice, self sacrificing and heroic, but they really fell flat for me which prevented me from loving this story. Three stars because the plot was interesting.

A heart breaking read

My first book by this author and what a beautiful and emotional journey it took me on Emma and Nathan having met in hospital when they are both unwell are drawn to each other one very unsure and quite shy the other very outgoing but together they face their uncertain future The love they share shines through and they achieve so much in their short time together You certainly need tissues but although it's sad it's also heartwarming and makes you smile through your tears A terrific read

This is one of those books that stay with you for a long time. You quickly get drawn into the characters lives and care about where the story is heading. I loved Nathan and Emma and how they make plans for making things happen. Having read a little about this book, I had an idea where it would lead and when my kindle broke in the last 15mins or so of the book, my husband was sent on a mercy trip to get a new kindle! I couldn't leave them there all night! I will definitely look for more books by Catherine Miller.

Beautifully told and well researched story which focuses on the inner strength that two young people draw from each other when faced with health issues. Powerful romance, some emotional scenes and an interesting twist on events. Real page-turner.

This is one of those stories you know from the start can't end well. Two cancer patients find love, and help and support each other, but it's pretty certain at least one of them won't make it. Sad, yet somehow uplifting. A thoughtful read with a sensitive subject matter, not one for the beach.
