We all know that girl who has it all: The cheerleader with the bottomless bank account, designer clothing, who lives in the coveted house on the hill, is dating the most popular guy in school, and has an endless stream of admirers.

She’s Catherine Garner… and anything she wants, she gets.

Until her mother’s boyfriend moves in.

And he brings his kids with him.

Now she’s forced to share her space with Brody Harris, who sulks around in baggy clothes that look like they’re from the bottom of a bargain bin. The last thing she wants is to be seen with this plain, ordinary boy who drives an old, rusted out car and always has his nose in a book.

Everything changes when she uncovers dark secrets that Brody has been forced to carry in silence. Suddenly, she finds herself forming an alliance with the one person who had dared to challenge her and had been nothing more than a pain in her ass.

As lines start to blur and her relationship with Brody begins to grow, Catherine questions everything she believed about her once-perfect world.

Carlie Yates (That One Writer Chick) has been writing stories since she was in the fifth grade, convinced that if she didn’t get her thoughts and characters down on paper, her head would ‘plode; it could be ex- or im-, but either way, it wouldn’t be pretty. Inspired by S.E. Hinton, she always said when she grew up that she would be a published author. She is currently renouncing her pledge to grow up. This Midwest mom of boys has addictions to reading, road trips, hair dye, and the Oxford comma, and is thoroughly convinced at any given time the theme track to My Three Sons will start playing in the background of her home.

“She wanted to go back to that... to that place, to that time, where the entire universe centered around her. Because that was so much easier than the unfamiliar, unwanted thoughts, feelings, emotions that she was drowning in.”

Wow - reading Entitled was such a strange reading experience - it...it read like a Wattpad story, but it literally entangled the reader into such a mess of a life; jumping through one hoop after another of such a chaotic jumble of madness that our MC, Catherine Denise Garner had to go through.

But, I think that was the objective of this story - how one spoiled rich teenager could have her life suddenly upended in the most unpleasant of ways. Immediately, we're plunged into her lifestyle of being so petty, demanding, always expecting herself to be at the top of the game, the limelight, the attention, the best of the best, the IT girl - not a care in the world, and certainly not caring for anyone else in the world. That all changes when her step-siblings move into her house with her mother - how then suddenly the visors blinding her from real life are suddenly stripped away - the fact that she allows feeling to care for someone else's well-being, I think, that was the spark of this book. 🎆

Not to disregard the sparks that flew between her and her stepbrother, Brody - Brody or Broody, but with good reason. Masking his own secrets, his own grief, his own troubles for his family - this book tackles a lot - not in an enlightening manner, but showed so much. Domestic abuse, sexual abuse, peer pressure, the pangs of bullying friendships - A LOT was covered in a span of such a short time, that my mind was reeling afterwards! 😵‍💫

Carlie Yates took us on this tumultuous high school journey, but after all that, what I definitely walked away from was Catherine's growth - her ability to see beyond her own personal issues, how she shed that rich spoiled girl persona, and allow some real-life heart come through was the highlight of this read.

And while the writing was very straightforward, it very much realistically portrayed the mind of a high school girl - if that makes any sense. The dialogue, the emotions, as campy and loud as it was - it was such a sharp vivid contrast to the harshness and cruelness of the reality she was witnessing in her home and I appreciated that. 👍🏻👍🏻

“The overwhelming gravitational pull, the attraction, the kindling of desire—an emotion, a sensation unfamiliar, uninvited into Catherine’s soul —that led her to this boy.

This plain, ordinary boy who was anything but.

This boy who held her heart as surely as he held her in his arms.”

I really enjoyed all the interactions she shared with Brody - broody he may be, but he genuinely does care for his family and even, Catherine, as hard as he tries not to show it. The lengths he went to protect his siblings, bearing the brunt of their father's abuse - my heart ached for him. 💔💔 As endearing and sharp the banter between the two of them was, the slow-dancing to To Love Somebody, the sexual tension that radiated between the two of them was sheer want! And I loved how it was viscerally expressed in the details - and when they finally connected! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

“Our story’s not over.”

She smiled as his words washed over her, filling her soul. “No, it’s not.”

I am morbidly surprised that this is actually a series - it does end on, I suppose, a HFN, but if there is a possibility that the stakes could be even wilder and more unpredictable in the sequel fascinates me. What awaits these 'lovebirds' as they move forward into the future? I am shockingly very much curious to find out! ✨

In one long weekend I devoured this book. I could not put it down!!!

I love this book because it starts out 'Rich girl who has it all' but does she? She has a major interuption in her life, that is unexpected and soon becomes her saving grace in my opinion.

Catherine has the money, the 'friends' and the life any girl would dream of. In moves her mom's boyfriends kids who instantly become nuisances in her 'fantastic life.' She can't see past her own selfishness to understand there's something darker going on in their lives, until the unthinkable happens.

Her and Brody have an initial love/hate relationship, until her own world starts falling apart and she really opens her own eyes.

I love how engaged this story line kept me all the way through. You won't be disappointed picking this one up. Add to your TBR List!

To end this review, I cannot wait for book 2!!!

I found this story really difficult to get into. I even stopped and read two other books before going back in because "Lady Catherine" was driving me insane!
But, I really did enjoy how the story played out - once I realised that the main character was going to change.
It does have some pretty intense stuff happening, there will definitely be triggers for people.

If you were to open my wardrobe that I use for my books or have a look through my iPad, you would find 3 paranormal romance authors, some scifi, fantasy, and lots and lots of vampires. My attention span and aversion to all things normal leave me longing for a story to suck me in and keep me engrossed which sadly is very hard to find. I start probably several books a year where I never get past the first half. I just don’t care about the characters or think the characters are boring or jerks. Not even fun jerks just meh jerks. I need to feel for them, love them, hate them, hurt with them. I have friends all of the time tell me to read books and promise they know I will like it and 10 mins in I’m yelling at the page like the author can hear me. I’m a hard sell. I LOVED this book. Loved.

I received an ARC of Entitled and started that night. Around 48 hours I was done. I got mandarin juice in my toaster because I couldn’t stop reading long enough to make my lunch. The story is engaging and I wanted to know where it was going next at the end of every chapter. The characters are interesting. Some you will love others you will question but all will have you second guessing your own opinion of them before long. The seemingly shallow, spoiled, self absorbed Catharine lives her charmed life in a “perfect’ bubble. When the bubble pops what dribbles out is not so perfect. Every perception of her life is challenged and she quickly learns that popularity and designer fashion isn’t as important as she once believed. Then there is a boy. Well a couple of boys. Polar opposites and with them come huge lessons in self respect, priorities, and how you treat others. Catharine learns a lot of hard lessons but also some pretty beautiful ones as well.

Absolutely pick this book up. You won’t be able to put it down. It’s isn’t just a good story. It’s well written and smart. There is so much more going on than a rich girl learns a lesson. It’s deep and sometimes dark like life can be. Entitled is worth the read. I know I will read it again when the next in the series comes out.

We all know that one girl.....

That is what hooked me....Catherine seems to have it all until something she witnesses changes her life and the original mean girl goes thru a change all for the better. I did struggle thru the first couple pages of chapter 2 because it didn't seem to flow right and to be honest Catherine was a total bitch an I wanted to toss it aside but she started to grow on me an I was glad to see that she was able to redeem herself.

I want to thank the author for giving me a chance to read this book

Without spoilers, which I want to avoid because I want this to unfold for you as it did for me, I can only say this is a great read.
Fast paced, engrossing, can't put it down. I locked myself in a room with twizzlers and my phone and devoured this. I smiled and cried.
Absolutely stunning debut. Can't wait for book two.

I was completely engrossed in this book from the very first page. Fantastic story packed full of emotion. This is one of those books where you just get sucked in and forget that it's a book and NOT real life, and those are the best kind! New favorite author! I really wish that I could give this more stars!!

Catherine was one of those girls that had it all. Popular and never wanted for anything and only had the best. However things for her change in a huge way when she witnesses something that changes her for the better eventually. I do not want to give away anything about this book. I went into it blind and did not even read the blurb. I will warn you that you're not going to like Catherine at all. She is rich and spoiled and entitled and a mean mean girl. Don't let that discourage you though she will change her ways and you will not hate her anymore. Don't let her make you put the book down and not read it.

This is the first book that I have read from Carlie. Wow. This was indeed one amazing book. I absolutely loved the storyline. I was hooked once I got into the storyline. Catherine is living the life. She is queen of the school she goes to and has pretty much anything she wants in life. But then everything changes when her mother moves in her new boyfriend and his 3 kids. Brody is the oldest out of the kids and the nerd out of the three. He is the same age as Catherine but nothing like her. He is not the snob or rich kid. Things start to change once Catherine realizes who Brody really is. This was indeed an interesting intense storyline. Catherine and Brody are interesting characters that you cant help but want to know more about. Putting these two together was pure genius. I absolutely loved this storyline. I loved how things happen even if part of the book I wanted to reach in and punch Frank for what he was doing to Brody. But it brought Catherine and Brody closer together and changed them both. Highly recommend reading this one.

This was my first book by this Author. This was a book I never knew I needed to read until I did.
Catherine was the definition of Entitled. She believes she rules her home, the people at school and her boyfriend Mitch. Her looks , money and status is all she cares about. That was until Frank her mother's new boyfriend moved in with 2 younger kids and 1 boy her age. She wants them gone until she finds out Frank's secret and the kids deadly secret.
Does Catherine change? Will Frank's children ruin her Entitled life? Will Brody the oldest Child escape his secret?
This book has a trigger such as abuse so be aware. Rough sexual situations.
If you can handle those you will enjoy this book. I can not wait to read the other two books in this series.
I recommend this book!!

I was so impressed by this debut novel by Carlie Yates. This is the first book in a brand new series. I absolutely devoured this book. The story is engaging, unique and interesting and I was captivated by every chapter.

Entitled was completely unputdownable! Not only is it a damn good story, it’s well written and smart. There is so much more to this story than a rich girl learning a lesson. It’s deep and it’s dark and wonderfully crafted. Intense, gritty, fast paced and engrossing from the very beginning. I am so looking forward to the second book in this series. A dazzling and stunning debut!

Catherine Garner was a spoilt rich girl who had everything she ever wanted and got everything she ever thought she needed. Then, her mother let her boyfriend move in with his three brats and her perfect world would never be perfect again... Or was that actually a good thing?

If you love a story that grabs your attention on a sunny day and doesn't let you stop reading even when you have a list of other things needing your attention, you'll love this book. Carlie Yates is an amazing author, the kind of author who doesn't come along every day. The kind of author who writes stories you love getting lost in.

I am blown away that this is a debut novel, as I would never have guessed that while reading. This is certainly an author to look out for in the future. This is the first book in a series. Catherine appears to live the dream life, until the life she knows begins to unravel before her eyes. Catherine and Brody have a love / hate relationship going on. This is a well written story which is intense, gritty, fast paced, and is an engaging story from the very beginning. I look forward to reading the second novel in this series, and highly recommend for all.

I absolutely loved this book that was everything you'd expect and yet so very much more. With a story line that is powerfully engaging and characters that inspire strong emotions in the reader. Catherine and Brody's story is complex, complicated and a five star must read that has no problem putting your emotions through the wringer. I need book two now!! This is my forthright, freely posted review.

Not alot of authors can write about dark subjects well but the author here did an amazing job. It has all the feels that the subject matter wants. Sad, heartbroken and teary. It has a happy ending so it also has happy parts aswell.

This is book 1 in the entangled series and I can't wait to start book 2.
