Diego Figueroa and his crew are stealing cargo containers on the storm-ravaged island of Puerto Rico. At first, they did it to feed and clothe a desperate population. Now, they’re doing it for profit. Dark Water Research discovers the police are being paid to turn a blind eye to the situation, they call in their troubleshooter, Ryan Weller. When Ryan finds a repainted DWR container about to be shipped off the island, he devises a plan to track it with GPS. However, Diego springs his own trap, a near deadly ambush that leaves a cop wounded and Ryan on the run. There’s only one way for him to stop the thieves and that’s to run headlong into trouble no matter what the consequences.

I'm center-brained and I get bored easily. I worked a lot of jobs in construction, as a security guard, a motorcycle tech (I'm a certified for Honda and Yamaha), as a car technician, a property manager, and in the scuba industry. My favorite job was being an aviation electronics technician (AT) in the US Navy. (I guess my new favorite is writing). After a motorcycle accident left me paralyzed, the Navy said, "You're out of here," and medically retired me.
I moved back to Ohio, got married, had a son, and completed a bachelors in business management. I was always tired of the cold and the snow. It doesn't make it easy to get around when you're in a wheelchair. After years of trying to convince the wife to sell the house and travel, we bought a twenty-five foot toy hauler. I voided the warranty the day we brought it home by taking out one of the bunks and making and installing custom cabinets. Then we spent several winters traveling the Southwest, and eventually sold the house. We lived in the trailer full time for about two years and saw most of the US, except Kansas and Nebraska and New England. We'll get there.
Along the way, I tried my hand at a lot of action sports; skiing, skydiving, bungee jumping, motorcycle racing, ATV riding, and scuba diving. I love to dive, so much that we ended up settling in Hollywood, Florida. I try to dive at least once a week and I'm working on my technical diving certifications. I want to go to three hundred feet.

Should be optioned for a Netflix series of movies

Dark Shadows picks up a short time after the action of Dark Horse, and felt a bit short, compared to previous Ryan Weller thrillers, but is a solid piece of writing by an author who has hit the indie author/publisher scene with impressive competence.
Graver is one of the very best when it comes to giving a reader a vivid picture of settings and actions without losing his brisk pacing and character-driven narrative. I have never visited Haiti or Puerto Rico, have never been at the center of container cargo operations, or crash-landed a helicopter, but it really felt as if I was in all of those places alongside Ryan, and my nerves felt as frazzled as his were as he launched headlong into some very scary situations.
Dark Shadows felt more like a novella as it completed a story arc put in place and explored in the previous two novels. Yet Graver gives it a life of its own. And a hunger for more.
By the time I finished reading the first two Ryan Weller novels – Dark Water and Dark Ship – I purchased #3, and the Box set with #4 - #6.
If you have enjoyed the Evan Graver books, check out R. E. McDermott and the three Tom Duggan novels – and, especially – the Disruption trilogy.

Must Read

The author spins a tail of intrigue within the reality of complex relationships. Always a gentlemen yet often the victim, our hero dances a fine line between the two.
