What a page-turning, edge-of-your-seat, spine-tingling, romantic suspense tale that Ms. Piper Stone is so talented at spinning. Oh my, with delicious characters, erotic interaction, intriguing tête-à-tête, mafia hits, strong-arming, power exchange, D/s, life and death and so much more. While this is the second story in A Dark Mafia Romance, it will read well as a stand-alone. It still involves the Calduchi family of Chicago.

A secret meeting, one member not present, and a hit that will take out many in their ranks included the Don, Montego Calduchi, and seriously injure his son, Giovanni Calduchi. Gio must stay in hiding, but allow certain people to believe he died in a Chicago hospital. A trip to a hospital in Columbus, Ohio must be kept secret. A night at a bar will have Gio watching a beauty, and when her interaction with a man goes south, Gio will pick up the pieces, and a trip back to his hotel will set this night in motion.

The plot will have the Calduchi family suffering loss and a change in the hierarchy when Gio must allow some people to believe he died alongside his father. Was the hit part of the New York mafia wanting to encroach upon Chicago? Is this an inside job within the ranks of those who are supposed to be loyal? A trip out of state to another hospital for further treatment will come with many surprises—and even more danger. Now that danger isn’t just to Gio, but to a woman, he has spent time with—and he is determined he will protect her—even if it is against her will.

I am a huge fan of mafia romance but this book was so bad . The heroines name is something weird that I have no idea how to pronounce . Her inner monologue made me wish I had to gun to shoot her . The writing didn’t flow smoothly. Gio meets the heroine in a bar . Her boyfriend has cheated and she tells him they are done but he won’t take no for an answer . Gio steps in and saves her which leads to a one night stand . Now this is understandable and par for the course with romance novels but that is where it ends . During the one night stand the hero tells the heroine he is hers and no matter where she runs or hides he will always find her . After the deed he has a driver escort her out and acts like an ass. Then he shows up at her house . He tells her how much she is his blah blah blah . They have sex and then he says she will never see him again and not to look for him . Ya da tads we’ve heard that before . 🤦♀️ These characters are scitsophrenic or something . Then he shows up at the hospital where she works . Tells her how much she is his blah blah . I quit ! I give up . These people are giving me whip lash . I can’t read this crap any longer . I have only given 1-2 star reviews a couple of times in 10 years . I hate doing this but this book needs some major help.

Dark, twisted and emotional almost painful at times…….
This was a complex read that was filled with danger and passion and there were some sweet moments and also some passion filled moments that stay with you right to the very end of the book. This book had a great plot and the legacy that was and is Gio Calduchi finds his life very much changed as his father is assassinated, his life at that moment had changed so very, very much and one of the most major moments was who the traitor was it seemed highly possible that it was probably an inside attempt on both his and his fathers life in an aggressive attempt to wipe out that which was Montego Calduchi.
Gio had seen the beautiful woman at the bar and as he had come to her assistance, he had an ulterior motive and that was to take the beauty home and possess her in every way possible and that was something he had done and had done well. She had given her name as Minx and he had been happy to call her by that name, little would they have known how wicked fate would be as it drew them together when she was the doctor caring for him, finding herself having to keep her alive and also there was Veridi Mason he felt as though she was part of his soul.
He had told both her and his soldiers that the most important thing was loyalty and that was something that had to be relied on they had already known that “Michael Romano” was the possible inside man, they also knew that the hospital director had most likely been the leak but all this was still guess work, so for now he was pretending to be “Dead” but he would rise again and when he did they would pay, he had been bred for this position and he would ensure that they all paid and if they tried to take over the family they would all cease to breath.

Omg! The writing of Piper Stone is incredible and infectious and alluring. From the first page, this story drew me in like a fly to honey. Within minutes my heart was beating and my mind totally enthralled. And then it got better.

What a cracking story!! It deserves 10 stars really it's that good. A superb mafia story with two magnificent characters. This story has absolutely everything. Not only is Gio a wonderful character he is deliciously alpha and flawed. Veridi on the other hand is strong and intelligent but they both have a dark side which calls out. The story was super entertaining with drama, intrigue, violence and betrayal. The love story between Gio and Veridi was off the charts sexy. A touch of dominant and submissive with underlying love thrown in. The characters were well described and worked well and the sex was off the charts. I love this author and her books are outstanding. I have now to read the one about Gio's brother Jagger and I look forward to this with great anticipation. If you love Mafia stories with a sexy Don/Dom and a strong sexy heroine you will love this book. Also did I tell you it was a damn good storyline as well?

This is the first time I have read a book written by this author & I will admit that I found it to be a really splendid, dark & emotional mafia romance. It has a well-paced story-line & plot fill with unexpected events. The individual characters are unique with complex personalities & some of them exhibit devious tendencies combined with determination to achieve their goals.

Piper Stone is the master of dark erotic storylines. Ruthless is the most appropriate title of the storyline between Giovanni and Veridi. A Mafia story with murder, dominance, sex, mystery, and mayhem. I started reading this and could not get over how well written, how descriptive, how it draws you into the intense storyline. This is a lot more intense from Piper Stone’s Missoula Smoke Jumper series. This series will be well received with those that enjoy the dark side of erotica and romance. Personally, it was an excellent book, with loads of sex, but I enjoyed the Smoke Jumper series more. I do enjoy the dark side of things and do appreciate those that have mastered the writing aspect. Not many can capture the essence of the technique but Piper has. I take my hat off to her for being able to master said technique and make it real in many peoples eyes. Congratulations Piper! You are so talented!

I really enjoy Ms. Stone's works of writing and that includes those one. I hooked by the blurb and then drawn in by the plot. It's full of intrigue and mystery, darkness and twisted promises. With each sting of the belt, the story gets hotter and darker and the characters show that much more of themselves. I loved how the characters Ms. Stone chose to write about were a dark and bloody mobster who believes he is too far gone into darkness that he can never find the light and the head-strong, yet feisty doctor who hides a submissive streak in her darkest of hearts. Together, they are each other's undoing and remaking.
**Warning, this book has adult play in it and is has of BDSM elements in it that some may find offensive (while others may like). Don't read if it bothers you.

If I could award more than 5 stars, I would. This book was a completely thrilling, dark rollercoaster of emotions & I couldn't put it down!
The instant attraction between Gio & Veridi was electric from the very start. As the story delved deeper, their connection was undeniable & sparks were emitting from my kindle! I seriously loved all the twists & turns that Piper wrote in & devoured them hungrily.
This book is intriguing, dark & most definitely delicious! It has steaminess. It has very dark connotations, but above all, there is a sweet undertone that refuses to die. Piper has captured the true essence with both characters & brings them forth from the darkness & into the light.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to everyone - You will not be disappointed!

2.5-3 Stars!
A doctor falls in love with the king of crime not knowing who he truly was upon meeting aside from a mutual attraction she can’t seem to ignore. He ends up being her patient and gets her into a lot more than she’s bargained for. He kidnaps her, takes her away, enough time for her up come to terms with her feelings before the man behind the betrayal of the family reveals himself. The book was fairly good, it was just a little too unrealistic at times and incomplete, especially when their intertwined past was brought forth. Their past seemed to pose such great meaning and depth but unfortunately her parents stole from his father and it seems to end there. Their chemistry was great, however it would’ve been nice if it contained more than just attraction and a hard to get storyline.

I listened to the audio book. The narration wasn't bad. The narrator had a moment of two when he spoke in the female lead's voice when it was Gio speaking. That have me pause, but it wasn't completely distracting.
I don't know the female lead's first name, or I should say that I don't know how to pronounce it. I'll refer to her as Minx. That is the name Gio used.
Gio was a mafia don. Had no expectations of him being gentle or soft or romantic. Minx was just crazy. This woman blew not and cold. She alternated between wanting to hit Gio, and craving him sexually.
I didn't really get if Minx had a secret about her past, or if she blocked out information about her past. I
I think there was a fairly interesting back story about a mile infiltrating Gio's organization, but it was overshadowed by the craziness of Oof and Goofy. I would give this book 2.5 stars.

OMG...this book starts with a bang of drama and that sets the tone for the suspense in the whole book with the thrills and spills of what a good Mafia book can do.
Gio finds himself the new head of the Calduchi Family after his father is murdered and Gio is severely injured in the blast. While he is recovering from his injuries he meets Minx.
Veridi Mason is a heart surgeon and after meeting a stranger and having the most passionate weekend she comes back to find her hospital floor in chaos and by her dark and dangerous Gio.
With a storyline to keep you on edge waiting to see what happens next and enough twists and turns to give you whiplash but also a nail biting twist I wasn’t expecting that I wish I can give it more than 5 stars....

Ruthless is a well-composed compelling mafia romance. The storyline is engaging, dark, raw, twisted, and at times sweet. I love it!! I was captivated me from start to the very end. Piper Stone is an exceptional author for the genre and not hesitant to shock her readers/listeners. The characters are complex, intriguing, and very well-developed. The intimate scenes are sensual, scorching hot, and heavy on the BDSM components.
Outstanding narration by Thomas Locklear. He captured the character's emotions, their fiery chemistry, and the intensities in the scenes, bringing the entire book to life.
I strongly recommend "Ruthless" to all dark romance readers or listeners. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This book caught my attention and held it, it was as if the story was addictive to me and I had to sit and turn page after page after page, I didn’t want to put the book down. The story is filled with action and numerous different emotions that I felt like my head was spinning at times. The characters are well written and leave you mesmerized at times at their darkness and brutality. This is a dark read and has some triggers that may make the book unsuitable for some readers but for those who enjoy dark romance this is a wonderful story to grab and read, you won’t be disappointed!

OK, this romance between Gio and Minx is certainly quite dark and seems to be between two mismatched individuals. However, it is all consensual (mostly) and the main theme is that they both can't overcome the overwhelming need for each other. He is a man who had done bad things and is likely to do so again but Minx loves him and needs what he can give her. Gio is conflicted and not all bad. It may be that he can't find a way out of the life he has inherited. Dark but I ended up rooting for them. I received this book from Stromy Night Publishing as an advance reader copy.

Absolutely fantastic; a compelling emotionally deep, dark, and gritty read! It is well written with a well-developed, consistent, and engaging plot. Gio was almost killed in a mob attack that killed his father the Don. While he is hiding out he meets his Minx Veridi. While Gio was undergoing surgery for his gunshot wound he was dead for 2 minutes and saw his mother she spoke to him about redemption and revenge. The whole book centered around that theme. Gio deep inside was a sensual man who loved Minx and would die to protect her but he was also groomed to be the Don to protect the Family. Well written, steamy hot. I enjoyed it.

Was curious about Gio after reading Jaggers book especially considering that Jagger had so much animosity for big bro. I was thinking he must be an uber douche for those feelings. Can't say I was overly impressed with either of the main characters. While I initially liked their love-hate relationship I quickly got bored and annoyed with the whiplash.
I think this is the first time I've said it (and can't believe I actually am saying it) but.....I was way more invested in the storyline regarding the steps for Gio taking over for his dad and who the traitor is and less with the sexy times.

Criminally fantastic!
The scorching chemistry between Gio and Veridi is one of the strongest elements of this book.
Veridi is unaware of her untapped desires but Gio is dark, depraved and sadistic enough to "educate" her regardless of her feelings.
An assassination, a one night stand, dark desires, domination and control, mobsters, intrigue, danger, suspense, betrayal, secrets, lust, obsession and love, make this an intriguing, sensual, hot and satisfying read!

Loved this mafia romance with a twist.
This is a wonderfully written story with down to earth real characters. They have feelings, things are messy and they definitely aren't perfect. But this story is fabulous and dark with a twist that you don't see coming. This book pulled me in from the very first page and kept me twisted up until the very end. I loved it and I highly recommend it!!!

Overall actually fairly boring. Not too much to the story and far too predictable which is a shame as the first book had loads to it.
Extremely heavy on the punishment side of things to the point you end up skipping most of it and it is really repetitive too.
And by the end you just want to give up on Veridi, for being a doctor she is really stupid about life and herself, with no backbone at all

I thought that this book was sinfully delicious!! A dark, intense, steamy, kink filled, action packed thrill ride that will keep you on edge with every turn of the page. Veridi and Gio's chemistry is so hot and their scenes are scorching. With plenty of danger, twists, suspense and powerful emotions, this book earns every one of the five stars I gave it. This is my sincere, freely posted review.

I was hooked on this steamy dark read. Gio spots Veridi and knows that she belongs to him. He rescues her from her boyfriend and they share a steamy night. Gio however lives in a dangerous world, will they be together for more than that steamy one night? Fast-paced read with great intensity. Amazing drama and off the charts hot. I was hooked from beginning to end. I loved it!

Shivers down your spine. Clenching in your gut. Clamping of your thighs. This story goes right thru you. Becoming a pet of the boss and learning your place. And all the while it’s happening you know it’s right. I must say I am slightly envious of knowing what you want and being open enough to get it.

Piper Stone never fails to amaze me with her books, she is incredibly talented and her books never leave me, and this is another example of that. Veridi and Gio are amazing together and the smut is absolute bliss. They have officially been added onto my couples list!

Veridi knows her boyfriend is cheating. When he gets to the bar they were supposed to meet at hours before, she tries to break up with him but he's not having it. Giovanni steps in and makes sure he doesn't bother Veridi again. Giovanni and Veridi have a night of fun but think they won't see each other again... Wrong.

Complications arrive once Veridi's past is revealed. Mystery and intrigue follow throughout the story. Great read and I definitely recommend it.
