Simple early reader, with a comic-style format and one sentence per frame. Perfect for pre-K and early-grade children who might be a little fearful of going to the doctor. Hedgehog has a play doctor's kit and they act out the forthcoming visit, with a lollipop at the end.

I think by now we have almost read all of this series ahha my daughter loves this one too. She said her favourite part was the “magic trip” where Hedgehog uses a tiny hammer to hit Harry’s knee and it jumps out. Lol I tried to tell her it’s not a magic trip it really happens, I don’t know if she believes me or not.
Also because I’m excited my daughter is in kindergarten and did a magic trick for me after we read this book, she said she wanted to read it and continued to read out it loud to me! My mind was blown haha I didn’t know she could read that well and that many words. Anyways proud mom over here.

Harry is having a great day until he realizes he has a checkup with the doctor. What if he has to get a shot? Hedgehog has an idea of how to reduce Harry's anxiety, but will it work?

A cute story about a very realistic circumstance and Hedgehog's ideas may actually be useful for real kids anxious about a doctor visit. The story is told in graphic novel panels in a layout very easy to follow. The text is kept pretty simple with an occasional word beginning readers may need help with. Hand this to kids about to have a doctor checkup and kids starting to read on their own.

When Harry needs a checkup, the situation doesn't feel to him as though he needs a thing. He's scared.

"What if the doctor gives me a shot?"

The comic book-style panels are endearing, as is the dialog. How does Harry's friend, the Hedgehog, get little Harry ready for the dreaded routine physical?

One of many reasons I enjoyed this FIVE STAR book is how Norm Feuti's characters use excellent manners. Please and thank you are excellent words to learn how to read.

Harry is afraid of his upcoming visit to the doctor, but his friend hedgehog knows just what to do: give Harry a pretend checkup so he knows what to expect. A cute story that would be good to share with kiddos who are nervous about medical appointments.

Harry is scared to go to the doctor, so Hedgehog helps them through it. Discussion of shots and lollipops, but no actual visit to a real doctor.

For: beginning readers looking for cute animals.

Possible red flags: fear of trying new things/going to the doctor.

Harry is very worried about going to the doctor for his checkup, especially for the shot. But Hedgehog gets his pretend doctor kit to help Harry feel better. I like the relationship between these two friends.
