With one sacrifice remaining, the Rogue Demon is close to resurrecting history's most dangerous king. His sights are now set on the Intel Kingdom, a world power in the eyes of most.
This makes Bryson--considered the most talented Intelian currently alive--a prime target. Alas, he's found himself absent of all weaving abilities following his lightning storm during the Blizzard of Blood. He must discover a way to retain his electrical abilities before the Rogue Demon finds him.
As the world prepares for the eventual clash between titans, the rest of the Jestivan search for information about the Rogue Demon and those closest to him. They'll sail for whirlpools that connect realms, visit the holy city of trees where the very first sacrifice took place, and infiltrate the headquarters of the demon's operations.
Meanwhile, one Jestivan begins his translations of an ancient text from a timeline before his, learning of two Originators who sparked the end of an era. And another woman, once a Jestivan but long removed from her peers, seeks vengeance on an entire kingdom in a catastrophic way.
David F. Farris was that kid who spent all of his birthday money on Yu-Gi-Oh and Pokemon cards. They started his love of storytelling. He’d create his own Pokemon, draw them, give them a biography, physical measurements, attacks, etc. As he grew older—into a bigger kid—he began to draw cartoons through the same process, except in more detail this time. He even drew a block-by-block detailed map of an imaginary city across eight sheets of graph paper. He’d dabble in writing short stories because of his love of Harry Potter, but his specialty was drawing.
Creative writing didn’t become a strong passion until 12th grade, when he wrote a mock epic; The Pokemon Master … Surprise, surprise. But still, he elected to attend Emory University in hopes of bettering his future with something more practical: Organic Chemistry. It took no more than three years for David to realize his mistake and bail.
He became lost after that, as he submerged himself into the depths of competitive gaming. This included double-digit hours of sitting on a chair entirely too close to a monitor with a bottle of Mountain Dew and a box of Nerds by his side at all times. And when he wasn’t doing that, he was working in retail.
Thankfully, he met a friend while gaming. And this friend introduced him to anime. And anime reintroduced him to his passion to build worlds and tell stories. The likes of One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, and Fairy Tail and their massive worlds inspired him to create something just as big. And when he read The Kingkiller Chronicle by Patrick Rothfuss, it solidified his desire.

Well, it’s been a few days since I finished reading The Sacrifice (Erafeen, Book V) by David F. Farris. One thing is for sure, this is much more than a mere book, this is a tome in every sense of the word. My somewhat arthritic paw can attest to its magnitude - as I flex and stretch my fingers back into working condition.
What David has done with this series is nothing short of brilliance. I’ve been following this young man’s writing from book one, and it’s apparent to me that we are in the presence of something quite remarkable. His ability to build worlds, create original and interesting characters, as well as keeping the reader's interest from Book 1 through Book 5, is masterfully accomplished with what seems to be great ease. The cadence and rhythm of the narrative is like music - like the basic structure of any good song, the story has a verse, a chorus and a bridge blending together in a most beautiful Epic Fantasy Symphony. What’s left for this young mangenue to accomplish is in his own hands and his continued ability to write such beautiful prose. The world is indeed his oyster, and if he continues to write with this much conviction and heart we are in store to witness greatness from this skillful wordsmith. Keep your quill well inked David, you are a true artist.

Other books by David F. Farris: The Jestivan (Erafeen, Book I), The Untenable (Erafeen, Book II), The Uprising (Erafeen, Book III), and The Chronicle (Erafeen, Book IV).
(New) 5.8 stars in my insane rating system. This is pretty close to perfect. So much happens and everything makes so much sense on reread. READ ERAFEEN.
(Old)I.......WHAT? This may be my favorite book I have ever read. No time is wasted, not a single line. So many revelations, so MUCH. I do not know what to say. This book is a work of genius, and the author is one. I....can’t explain much more. READ THIS SERIES. I LOVE IT. I cannot wait for book 6. And what seemed cataclysmic in this book and the last, will probably seem pathetic compared to what book 6, which will be longer than this, I remind you, has to offer. I love this, and cannot recommend it enough.
The books just keep getting better! There was so much going on in this book and I simply could not read it fast enough! I was completely hooked. This book follows the Jestivan on their individual quests and it amazing how Farris was able to give just enough detail for the reader to be hooked and everything the reader needs to know, comes right when it needs to. So many questions were answered, but as usual, the end of the book brought up more. It was a long read, but definitely worth it!
I know it took a lot longer for this book to release than the others, but the wait was worth it. I'll let the story itself prove it. Get ready to dig into this behemoth of a novel.
Still hooked. From chapter to chapter I’m like, argh don’t switch character story line but then bam I get tied up in the new chapter. This is one of the few series where the author successfully was able to jam pack MANY stories and POVs and it all works out magnificently!
Another excellent book in this series. The storytelling just keeps getting better. The twists and turns make me want to keep reading until I find answers
