The rules of Paradise are

Everyone must work. Everyone must contribute. If you leave, you may never come back. Paradise is the new world, to question that is to question the law.

They have been drilled into us since the world ended and those bunker doors shut.

So why can’t I stop dreaming of more?

With my eighteenth birthday and the selection approaching, I must decide what role I will take within our community. But when I am betrayed by the very people I was brought up to trust and left for dead in The Wasteland this world has become, I decide to leave for good. Decide to leave the only man I’ve ever loved and the only home I’ve ever known.

Everyday will be a fight for survival, but for once in my life, I finally feel free...if only my heart would accept that.

*18+ Reverse Harem Romance. Warning this book contains scenes and references of abuse/assault that some readers may find triggering. Along with graphic sex scenes and violence*

The Forgotten is another amazing story by K.A. Knight. This time following Piper and self mission to do whatever she can to get out of Paradise and on patrol in the Wastes. Her choices don’t come without sacrifices, but she’s strong, funny, crass, sarcastic and determined. Each man in Piper’s harem has earned a place on heart throughout the story - Jago, Archel, and Evan aka the Beast, the Shadow, the Doctor.

One of my favourite things about the way K.A. Knight writes is her expressiveness of words that generally are just verbalised, and very rarely seen written so well into a book (in some cases she’s created the most awesomest words). I think this brings an element of realism and connection to her characters, that make them completely her own and draws the reader in. Additionally, the detailed expressions and emotions that her characters experience are really well captured.

I highly recommend The Forgotten which is a dystopian reverse harem story. If you love K.A. Knight’s Their Campion series, then you’ll love this companion novel.

Really fun beginning of a side-story!

If you read the main one, Their Champion, this will be a bit annoying and boring. But, well, I read this after a while after finishing the main series, so it's fun, at least for now.

Sometimes the MC is annoying, but I'm really hoping she'll get over it.
The guys though are amazing, so they compensate for her personality.

Glad

This is one of my favorite books. I am glad I read it again. Piper is insane but has a good heart. She gets into all kinds of trouble and starts some interesting games and shenaningans even in dangerous situations. There are some triggers in this story including a rape scene that isn't completely detailed so be aware. Still its a great stoey and I'm glad I read it again.

I vaguely remember Pip from the Wasteland series and now that this trilogy is completed it was time to dive in. I don’t think it’s necessary to read that prior but I do imagine in the next book there will be some characters crossing over that you won’t have background on FYI. This book also has some big trigger warning such as rape, violence and cannibalism. Heroine Pip really goes through a lot in this book both emotionally and physically. She wants out of the bunker she’s lived in for years and to do that requires training and much sacrifice to achieve. The outside world is cruel and unfortunately Pip gets a first hand look into her own horrors. She evolves a lot from the beginning to end. I really admire her passion and dedication because no matter what she never gives up. But damn if the world doesn’t force her to lose her innocence and ignorance in such an ugly way.

When it comes to the romance Pip has 3 love interests. One is her bff and the man she’s grown up with her whole life, also the man she loves in secret. Another is the bunkers own #1 fighter and baddie, the man she forces to train her and quickly love her. Lastly is an assassin she meets out in the wild, also the man who rescues her after her vicious attack and cares for her like a precious treasure. By the end of the book no relationship is set and stone and it’s even been some time since she’s seen a few of them. Time will tell how she’ll handle getting them all to agree to sharing her. Regardless it seems clear none of them will give up on her or let her go. There were a couple zombie-creature sightings but nothing as crazy as I was expecting and or hoping for. In that sense much of the book is really about the heroine dealing with all the shit life throws at her. Even finding safety only seems temporary. Good read, looking forward to finally getting all her men together at once.

So I was a little torn here at the end of this book. It does have a very dark and violent feel. The story line has a great dystopian premise but its very.. clustered, jumbled?, and non cohesive at times. Its really fast paced, its kind of like hold on for dear life or get tossed to the wayside. The reader kind of gets tossed into the world and I noticed the similarities to the "Their Champion" series about halfway through. That's about the time I realized this is a spin off.. there were several indications it was but just the familiarity of the world itself really clued me in. That's when I stopped and went on a research hunt and realized I have read the first book of the "their Champion" series.

I like the growth of the FMC, Piper.. even before horrific events happen her character had already changed so much from the spoiled, selfish, whiner she started out as. Piper starts off in the "compound" of Paradise. (I never really got a good mental picture of this from the writing itself but I was picturing the hive from resident evil.. ) Young, carefree almost, Piper has yet to pick what her contribution to "paradise" will be. That is until she discovers her BFF and lifelong crush Evan making out with someone else.. which sends her spirally out to prove herself. She ends up picking Patrol.. she wants to see the world or whatever is left of it. Proving herself worthy to be a patrol is going to be a challenge in itself.. so she walks in and chooses the most BAMF dude she can find and then annoys the ever loving crap out of him till he agrees to "train" her. She learns really quick that this isn't sunshine and rainbows and no joking can make up for the harshness of this new world. Even those that are supposed to be on her side turn against her and do the unthinkable. Now stranded and left for dead in the wasteland Piper must relearn to be herself with a small village on the outskirts called "the Forgotten." War in the wasteland however looks like it may rip everything and everyone she has collected for herself away..

Yea there was a lot going on here and it was kind of jarring in places where new info was kind of thrown in or the story takes an abrupt turn.. not sure where this is headed at the moment but I think before I continue this I should go back and finish the other series. That may give me more clues and answer some questions about all these abrupt turns etc.

I really enjoyed this! If you liked the author's privious series, The Wasteland, then I'm sure you'll like this.

Set in the same world, some where between the first and second book, we follow Piper, a resident of Paradise, the so called hidden haven we see in book 2 of the Wasteland. It is not a great place, despite being technically safe from the outside, as long as you play your role and don't rock the status quo. Unfortunately for Piper, wanting to be on Patrol, a job not seen fit for a woman, certainly rocks the status quo, and she pays a heavy price for it. She's a fighter though, and you can't help but admire her by the end of the book.

I liked Piper, on the whole. Her narrative voice was a little juvenile and she has some pretty stupid insults or phrases that made her sound like a 15 year old, but she is unapologetic for being who she is and she is firece, loyal and determined. The ease in which she picked up fighting skills and the role she takes near the end of the book feels a little rushed, but it didn't bother me that much.

Two of the three men I love, but one I didn't care for. The first half of the book focuses on her and Jago, or the 'Beast', as she calls him, and I loved their relationship, then the second half focuses on Archal. I was a little weary at first, as I loved Jago, but Archal is just as awesome, but in a different way, and by the end I loved him just as much. Evan, the doctor, is also in book 2 of The Wasteland, and the fact he leaves Paradise with them makes sense after this book. I didn't like him much in The Wasteland, and I can't say he endeared himself to me much here either. It doesn't help that most of this relationship with Piper has happened in the past, so what we do see if their interaction is just him being a dick about her wanting to go on patrol. But then, seeing how that all turned out and why, maybe he secretly knew the dark underbelly of Paradise, and worried for her for that reason, rather than thinking she couldn't handle herself. That would somewhat redeem him in my eyes.

I definitely recommend if you like a bit of darkness and a post-apocalyptic setting, with Reverse Harem as a bonus!

I really enjoyed Piper’s story and her personality. She has so much snark and strength that you can’t help but love her. She was put through so much pain but still managed to be strong. I can’t wait to see how her story continues.

Halfway through The Cities, I had to stop and grab this book from Kindle Unlimited, as Piper pops up there and it’s obvious her connection to certain characters is key - though Their Champion is Worth’s story.

This companion novel is, in a word, brutal. From Paradise, Piper is living the wasteland dream, until she is betrayed in the most horrific fashion, and finds herself rescued from certain death and hustled to The Forgotten. It’s rough, almost beautiful and incredibly captivating. Piper is NOT like Worth, this isn’t a duplicate tale with different faces. No, her personality and grit are all her own.

Perspective:
First Person, Single POV

Ending Type:
Cliffhanger

Rating:
R. Please pay attention to the Trigger Warnings.

Romantic Dynamic:
MMMF

Character Age Range:
18+

My Final Verdict on The Forgotten

Violent, brutal and emotionally full, this is a companion novel that stands on it's own. Piper is charming, robust and snarky enough to fit in almost anywhere in the Wastes, though her general toughness is going to be tested in ways no one should accept.

Holy Sands below! This book. The feels! I consumed this book so quickly. It was the air that I breathed. I could not stop. What a ride. I absolutely loved this book. The story itself, the characters, and being in the wasteland again from a different perspective was amazing. The emotions that this book evoked were phenomenal. We pick up right away that Piper needs, craves more than just living in Paradise and she makes this happen. She is stubborn and incredibility smart, she has sass and wit to spare! She works hard and against all odds she becomes the first female guard in a male dominated job. After all the work she puts in to being “more” she is betrayed horribly. No longer in Paradise, and without her best friend or her beast, Piper forges her way through the wasteland with the unexpected help of a mysterious but not so much a stranger- assassin.
Piper is a survivor. She is a total bad ass who overcomes terrible, awful things. I wanted to cry for her, cheer for her and laugh with her. She becomes so much more than she was. I loved watching her grow and find her way. She finds herself and her purpose among the Forgotten. She finds friendship and love. Even with the hardships she endures, she still manages to give her heart to a few certain men. I also liked the fact that the men in her life are not already a group - that they come from different places and appear in different moments of Pipers life. I am really looking forward to the next book. I really want to know what is next for Piper, Her Shadow, Her Beast and her best friend, the Doctor. I am really curious who we will see in a crossover, because we know it’s going to happen! K.A Knight does it again which is no surprise! Her knack for creating such beautiful and pulse pounding stories is a true talent! This is a riveting story that had me completely immersed from the very first page. There are some dark elements to this story that the author warns readers of at the very beginning.

Piper is a freaking badass. I love her spirit, snarky attitude and fierceness. Her love for big sexy men is right up my ally as well. But Piper’s story is one of strength, perseverance, healing, laughter and love in the midst of surviving the wasteland. K.A Knight does a fantastic job writing strong female characters that never give up, as well as sexy men, steamy as hell scenes, and emotion provoking detail and world building. I love the Their Champion series as well as this companion series and can’t wait to get the next installment!

I love a strong female character

I absolutely adore Piper and her strength, fierceness amd determination to follow her heart and live her life the way she wants to. She has men she meets along the way who are all strong themselves and they can either help her be strong or they can be left behind. Definitely listen to the trigger warnings as this book does get a bit dark but I loved every moment of Piper's journey and I can't wait for what comes next in this crazy post apocalyptic world.

Loved it

This was an amazing book. Thier Champion is such an amazing series and this book fits right in even though it is following different characters. It's always a little risky doing an entire book without the characters we know in a series but it was done flawlessly. I am totally invested in Piper's story just as much as I am in Worth's. The cover is really beautiful too! Can't wait to see what comes next.

I swear everything KA Knight writes I fall in love with. Her stories aren’t pretty. They are raw and almost hostile, but her characters overcome, love and live to fight another day. I just need her to write more. Write faster.

Piper has never known life outside of Paradise but she wants more. She feels trapped underground in the sterile environment of her world and wants to see the Wastes. So with her 18th birthday coming up, she sets her sites on becoming a guard, a position not assigned to women. When she is betrayed in the most horrific of ways and left for dead in the Wastes, she is rescued by an unlikely man. One who comes to own a piece of her heart. Piper becomes one of the forgotten. She's never felt more at home in the deadly world. If only she could have brought the two men from Paradise, who own the other pieces of her heart with her.

I love KA Knight's Their Champion Series. I love this companion series even more. Ms. Knight has created a harsh world where only the strongest survive. Happiness is hard to capture and even harder to hold on to. It's a brutal, ugly world where no one is left unscarred. Piper is fantastic. Her wit, intelligence stubbornness, and strength made her stand out like a star in this dark world. Piper has lived a pretty soft life in Paradise. Despite being an orphan and mostly overlooked, she still lived in safety, had plenty of food, and had that one person who meant everything. Evan, a fellow orphan, now a doctor has been a constant in her life. He went from being her best friend to the man she loved. But he seemed to only see her as a little sister and as she struggled to make her way as an adult, he couldn't keep from making one mistake after another and hurting her. Jago or the Beast was the guard who trained her, gave her a chance to show her strength and prove herself, and the man who matched her passion. Archel, the Assassin saved her and helped piece her back together. There may not be another human on Earth who understands her better. Three very different men but they each love Piper and are all fiercely protective of her. Little Piper with her beauty, intelligence, sass, and smart mouth inspires these men to go to extremes. She frustrates them, entices them, captivates them. They would kill, let the world burn or burn it down themselves for her. This intensity kept me spellbound.

The story itself was gripping. I could not put it down. I read with a sense of suspicion, foreboding, and horror. Yet like Piper, I felt the hope of a better day, a better life. Paradise was an illusion. Life above ground as a Forgotten was a chance worth taking, fighting for.

Trigger Warning: Contains scenes and references to abuse/assault that some readers may find triggering. Along with graphic sex scenes and violence.

I don't think it's possible for me to love this book more! I loved loved loved it so hard. As usual, I am leaving the cliffhanger warning here, and there are some exceptionally violent scenes with triggers. This is in no way a criticism, as it would be impossible to portray the atmosphere of the author's world without violence.
Now, that's out of the way, let me tell you how amazing Piper is! Piper is seriously the most serious competition for Taz, as she is equally amazing, strong, warrior, progressive, independent, determined, and nothing keeps her down. Obviously, no one has lived and survived through the hell Taz has been through, but Piper has the same strong spirit, and has survived her own share of horrors.
She comes from the isolated place of Paradise that we had a pleasure, or lack there of, to be introduced in the previous book. As the timeline goes, this story occurs sometime during the end of the first book (The Wasteland) and throughout the second book (The Summit). So back to Paradise, which is a disgusting cradle of misogyny and not in the cave man way of Wastes, where brawl conquers all, but in the old man rule way, where women have no rights whatsoever. I will not say any more on this topic and let the readers figure out the beauties of antiquated oppressive society.
Did I already mention how amazing Piper is? Well she decided to go break some glass ceilings and apply for a "man's" job. Let's just say that her best friend is indoctrinated enough to not give her any support whatsoever. And guess what, he is the sleazebag doctor from the previous book. He never grew on me. Fortunately, there are a couple of people outside of this horrible place who give Piper all the support and love that she needs. And she thrives and grows and evolves into a warrior that can rival Taz. And those two people, who I shall not name and let the readers discover them slowly, are equally fabulous as Dray. Dray rocks.
I am so loving this book, this series, and all of the characters, even the bad ones, because the author is a master of making realistic, well-rounded characters any reader can love or hate or adore or whatever, but they are so alive and present and evolving and amazing, they make the reader feel. A lot. The author is also a master of building and expanding her world, as well as creating the atmosphere of dread, horror, and violence. Fortunately, the author is a master of conveying all kinds of hot and steamy stuff, to make your heart stop. So overall, this is one of the best series out there and this book is a fantastic addition to it.

The Forgotten

I've made it no secrect that I love the Their Champion series and Worth. When I saw that there was another book coming, I preordered. Honestly I was a bit worried about it though because this book follows Piper, not Worth. I shouldn't have though. Piper's story is excellent and heartbreaking and fun and everything in between.
So as I said above this book follows Piper, a young woman from Paradise. If you've read the previous books in this series, you'll know exactly what Paradise is. When we start the book, Piper is fun and determined to see more than just the walls of an underground bunker. She is really determined, so much so that she is persistent in getting one man to train her. She's funny, quirky and also dealing with affairs of the heart and all of the messiness that can bring.
Along the way, something terrible happens, things change. She changes and she must leave behind the only world she has ever known and everyone she has ever loved.
The characters were fantastic, once again. Piper has a dogged determination throughout the book, even if the reasons change. Her inner strength becomes evident and you can't help but to root for her. The guys are all different but each brings their own thing to the story. Some of them we've meet before while others are new.
The plot line is clear and makes sense. The world events in the book are consistent with Worth's story, even though we never see her. We do get to see how the outside world reacts to the events, such as the Summit, in general. Piper's storyline is separate, but certainly makes sense in that world. The book plot is wrapped up, and it remains open for Piper and others to appear in the next Worth led story.
The world building is excellent, though not as wide ranging as the previous novels. That's ok though because the areas we visit in this story aren't mentioned in the other books. We get a wider view of the world, it's people and their response to the end of the world. We also learn more about a place we've seen before and the people inside.
There is a trigger warning for this story. Make sure you read the full blurb. While it does "fade to black" there are some paragraphs with violence and the aftermath.
Overall, I would recommend this book. While you don't have to read Worth's story to follow along with Piper's, it does enhance the backstory here and the significance of some of the characters.

I absolutely enjoyed this book! Favorite of K.A. Knight's so far (as I am slowly going through her backlog haha). I couldn't get enough of Piper, I think she totally became one of my favorite MCs of any RH book. I thought she was fierce, funny, incorrigible haha and had a vulnerability and light that made me want to know more. I honestly couldn't put this book down and am so excited for book 2 coming in February!!!

So let's talk about Piper's guys. Now that I put some pieces together, I can see her 3 being one of my favorite tandems in all RH. I think they provide what she needs and they are so different it makes it even more intriguing. I thought I would love Evan the best, but Archel I think took the cake in this one. Jago is a close second. I think I loved Evan when he was in Worth's story but seeing his sorta prequel, I definitely want to slap him upside the head. For Jago, that big mountain of a man was super adorable in his vulnerable moments. What a dip though when he got mad and let her go out where she shouldn't have been. I don't blame him for what happened but he definitely needs to grow up and mature. I wouldn't have been so welcoming if I were Piper when they reunite. Oh and Archel.....daaaaang. I don't normally go for the dark, mysterious, sexy one, usually I go for the nerdier one so Evan in this case. His words and actions hit me right in the feels and made me swoon more times than I can count. Love them all so much, but Archel especially ❤️❤️❤️

Overall, the storyline was really engaging, made me connect with Piper and roll my eyes at her all at the same time haha. I loved the dynamics and cannot wait for the Captain to get what's coming to them. Oh and I totally didn't squeal and laugh maniacally when Eel got his comeuppance hahaha. I thought the training was cool from both Paradise and the Forgotten's place, and the side characters really elevate this story. I hope to read more about them as the War becomes more prevalent and reaches them. I thought Piper did some major butt-kicking and will be awesome alongside Worth one day. Love, love, love this book. Highly recommend. One of my top 10 favorite RH reads of 2019 😍

Spoiler free, as always! So first off, this is definitely a book you need to read the description for. While you could probably get away without reading The Wasteland and The Summit, I absolutely recommend reading them before this - it will introduce you to some of the characters, as well as some of the locations in the book. First thing to say is - if you don’t read the trigger warning on the blurb, or take heed of the author’s note (she states before the novel that there is a trigger warning with more detail/possible spoilers at the end of the book that you can skip to if you need to) don’t say you weren’t warned. While I, personally, find little trigger in it, there are some VERY dark scenes, which I understand not everyone can read. That said, the book itself is absolutely fabulous. Action, comedy, and still managing to pull off areas of true emotion - despair, desolation, hope, the whole gamut of emotional spectrum. It also explores deeper into some characters from the Summit that I loved. There are no real spoilers in this book for the Summit, though. The author does a great job balancing the darker nature of certain scenes with the feeling behind it, giving each scene emotional depth that otherwise would make the book seem hollow. All in all, a great read and I absolutely cannot wait to find out what happens next to these characters.

Needs an editor.

A lot of grammatical issues, a lot of continuity issues, issues in general. The writing came off really juvenile a lot of the time. The female lead is very self absorbed and is supposed to kind of be the comic relief? And that’s her entire personality. The rest of the men all have the same voice so several times I would have to go back and see who we were talking to again. There were a lot of times where major events or at least really impactful events would happen but we wouldn’t see it? The author would lead up to it and then the next chapter would just summarize what happened in an introspective manor. There was a lot of tell instead of show.
The author made a choice that some pride might like but it didn’t work for me; she made A LOT of current or 90s references, a lot. At one point I had a running tally but just had to abandon it because it was so long. At some parts the end of the old world was so long ago they don’t even remember and then others they are making references or recognizing things that they shouldn’t. She says all plants are dead but then we see plants fairly often. Sometimes it’s been so long concrete buildings are crumbling into nothing but then lights on signs are still on and apartments aren’t touched. It’s just a really odd choice that felt like lazy writing and continuity issues.

It gets better

So many reviews hinted at a slow start, and boy they weren’t kidding.
It’s at almost exactly the 50% mark that things start happening, and I wouldn’t say it was worth the wait, but it definitely made me happy that my time wasn’t completely wasted.
I will be reading on, this book finishes on a reasonable cliffhanger, and the story is starting to come about pretty nicely.
I love the post apocalyptic world, but there isn’t much explained to the reader I feel, that makes everything/anything really link up- the FMC understands her world and who everyone is after her daily lessons, but I feel as the reader we were not given details, we were just advised of the passing of time while she was learning new things.
I also believe that the FMC became a badass too quickly? Like it could easily make sense that everything occurred over a 6month period to explain her growth and the growth of the relationships she has with others, but you find out the whole book takes place over a 2ish month period which just doesn’t make sense

Over all an okay read - this will not be a re-read ever, but I will read on

Read The Champion Series First

Okay so before I dove into this book I read the reviews as one does. I was already leery because I didn’t really love Pip’s introduction in The Champion series but I took a chance.
As many of the reviews state there are some time inconsistencies but that happened throughout The Champion series as well.
So here is what I think if you just ignore the time things and think this happened over months especially after she leaves Paradise, then it will read much better.
I enjoyed Pip in this book. She is immature but she grows some by the end of the book. She was also raised in a bunker so I’m not sure what she could be exposed to that would mature her quickly. Just give the author a little leeway with the timeline and just enjoy the read. I liked it and maybe the author will one day do an edit edition where she fixes some of the timeline issues. I would reread if she released something like that.
Also people in the reviews complained about the world building but again if you start with the Champion series then the world is built, set, explained.

Knight continues to impress with the expansion of her amazing world! This book is runs on the same timeline of the ‘their champions” series with some intertwining along with some amazing new ones! It really rounds out the fantastic world she already started building in the other books.

Piper is a bada** and I cant decide if I love her or Taz more!!. Piper is strong willed and although she hasn’t gone thru what Taz had she has her own set of horrors in this book. I love seeing ‘old’ characters returning and having a more prominent role in this book along with some new extremely sexy characters, like the Beast, who just make your heart beat faster even thinking about him. This book covers all ranges of emotion… from laughing to heartbreak, crying, throwing things (not the book), screaming… and while some things were difficult to read it is a point for the character where everything has to be evaluated and her mindset about life changes. Brilliant!

*** possible spoilers ***

I'm not a big fan of dystopian story lines but I really enjoyed this one!

Piper is a snarky, capable, independent woman who wants to see what's out in the world. The men she has so far are all completely different and interesting in their own ways. I love Jago and Archel, they are possessive alphas who know how to treat her right. Evan is still a work in progress but I'm looking forward to how his character develops in book 2.

There were a few things that I did wonder about though, for example, if they have loved underground their whole lives and then go out in to what is basically a desert, would they have to think about shielding their eyes at first and some protection for their skin from the sun?

I haven't marked the book down for these questions because it's still a great, well written book besides this but it was just something that came to mind as I was reading.

All in all it's a great read and cant wait for the next book!

I can’t get enough

This is my third book I’ve read from this author. All of them “ their champion series “. I read a lot. I’m pretty generous with my ratings because I know authors have a hard job and writing isn’t always easy. But this author builds her worlds up seemingly effortlessly. Probably not the case, just that the way her stories flow is simply extraordinary. If I could rate these books a 10 I would in a heart beat. While these stories break my heart and have me cringing in panic and desperation while reading the horrendous scenes... I’m still so in love with the book. She makes it feel all too real, she takes her victim and makes them into survivors. I simply can’t get enough. The story speaks to me on a whole other level from many other books I’ve read in my life and I’m completely selfish and wanting to demand the whole complete series now , ha. Thank you for allowing us to read your creations. Highly recommended. Can’t wait for more.

It only took a couple of chapters of The Forgotten (book 1 of the Their Champion Companion series), to realize this book ran parallel to another series (by the same author) I'd read seven months ago. I know I've enjoyed a storyline when I can remember characters' names half-a-year later. I loved Piper (Pip) as a protagonist, more so than the main character from the crossover series. In my opinion, Piper had more flaws and vulnerabilities to make her more sympathetic to the reader. That doesn't make her a cupcake, as she was a survivor and grew in strength as the story progressed. Both series are great, and I recommend reading both simultaneously, starting with book 1 of Their Champion, and switching to this book. Some minor typos/errors (You're=Your, here=hear, for example) but the pace made it easy to skip the few flaws and enjoy the story. I'll be looking out for book 2 of both series.
