I’m Summer Daniels. Friend to few. Foe to many. And one angry witch…

Victoria DeLuis is a short story author and novelist, who loves reading – everything – and writing paranormal cosy mysteries, light urban fantasy, supernatural romantic suspense, and the occasional sci-fi.

Summer Daniels makes a trip to the Otherworld to find her father and boyfriend in this exciting last instalment of the Rune Witch Mysteries.
As expected the quest is no walk in the park and Summer encounters adversity at every turn. It would be 'spoilery' to tell you what the outcome is and so I shan't do that, but feisty Summer proves her mettle.
The boyfriend, Thomas, has his own point of view in this installment, and we get to know what's going on in the Otherworld to which he has been spirited.
The curse that dogs Summer's family is finally dealt with at length and the outcome is surprising although I shan't go into much detail regarding that. You have to read the story yourself.
This fourth book in the Rune Witch mysteries delivers in all ways and brings to a fitting conclusion, the saga that began with Summer inheriting her nana's cottage in the woods.
A five star read indeed.

Part 2 of the finale sees more of Summer's family unearthed as she battles to break the curse and save the one she loves. It wraps everything up nicely enough, but I couldn't help but feel there was something off.

For one, conflict resolution is far too easy. After all they've been through, the solutions to their problems are just handed to them. It does take rather a long time to get to it though, and some places could drag. Of the series, I felt that this was possibly the weakest in the rush to tied off the family curse loose ends while trying to maintain a sense of action. I was also a bit disappointed that the urban fantasy PI thread got dropped completely in favour of traipsing around a lightly sketched magical Otherworld complete with royalty. Lots of side characters introduced without much development, others from previous episodes little more than a name check... Ah, I guess I like my fantasy a bit more fleshed out. And somehow in this episode, Summer's gone a bit off the rails. One minute she's normal, the next she's a rage-ball. OK, so she's under pressure, but I didn't always get her reactions. Or some of the magical situations, as I just couldn't make sense of the action itself.

Still, whining aside, it's enjoyable enough if you've liked the series so far. It may not be quite the ending I'd hoped for, but it's far from a let down.

A Spectacular Conclusion To This Gripping Series.

I am already a fan of Victoria DeLuis's books; I find her writing style very easy to read and I love the way she crafts her stories. I like the pace and intelligence of her plots, how she evolves her characters and how the various relationships develop - friend and foe.

I have really loved this series and this book didn't let me down. It had everything that I look for in a great story; mystery, action, magic, humour and even a sprinkling of romance.

I don't think that Unbroken can be read as a standalone story as this book is the completion of the series.

I would recommend this book those of you who love a mystery to solve, enjoy fantasy and adventure themes and don't mind a bit of romance thrown in. There are no explicit or graphic violent or sexual scenes and so I feel comfortable recommending this book to anyone who likes reading paranormal mysteries.

A very enjoyable series with great characters with the sub-plots aptly supporting the main plot.
