In saving someone, is it possible we can save ourselves?
How much can a person take? When do we call it quits? Where is the end? Is it the loss of a career, a home or a loved one? And if those things are not the end, what gives us the will to go on and how do we live without them?
Read Bridges, the novel, and meet:
Rory Blair, a twenty-two-year-old ballet dancer who shatters his ankle on stage. He’s told he’ll never dance again. His manager abandons him, leaving him in financial ruin, and he’s evicted from his apartment on Christmas Eve. Convinced that he’s lost everything, Rory stands on a bridge. He has every reason to jump and no will to live.
Gregory Jacobs, a near-forty-year-old director of an art museum who has become a loner by choice. Yet another lover has abandoned him. Rejected by his family long ago, he’s given up on everything except for his career. On Christmas Eve, Gregory's car doesn’t start. He walks across a bridge where he finds a desolate young man clinging to the rail, staring at the icy river below. Is their meeting one of chance or fate? Can Gregory give Rory hope to continue living when he has so little hope for himself? At his age, he knows that once a bridge is crossed, there is always another up ahead.
Allan and Chelsea Jacobs, a couple who have all they could ask for in life. They live in Hartwood Manor. They’re wealthy and happy, but they have a wild, mischievous son and a strong-willed daughter. In raising their son Gregory, there were misunderstandings and hurt feelings. Can their family ever come back together?
Adelaide Jacobs, a fashion designer who wants nothing more than for her estranged brother to come home again. Can she make that happen?
And Giselle Chastain, a deaf concert violinist who lost her hearing and her best friend after a tragic accident. She knows that sometimes endings are new beginnings and although we lose much, there is always more to be gained.

I came across this story and thought that the plot was interesting. I recently read a Pride and Prejudice adaptation with the same plot- ballet dancer has their career ruined after an injury. I wanted to see how this plays out. The writer was able to show the depression and anxiety when a professional dancer( or athlete) has a devastating injury that impacts their identity. He should us how low a person can get when everything is taken from them. A dancer starts out at a very young age and their entire identity is in dance. Rory has been left injured, and his manager has stolen every penny. Suicide seems logical when you are that low. Gregory is damaged by a former lover leaving him abruptly and rescues Rory. They begin an affair and nothing is as they expected. Miscommunication between Gregory and his father gets resolved. The strongest scene is the men meeting Giselle who lost her hearing as a result of a car accident and subsequent coma. She was/is a professional violinist who showed Rory how to adapt and find his dance again. It's so powerful that I was actually crying in joy. Please give this story a chance. It's so good and spot on emotionally. The characters are perfectly described and with only two exceptions are fantastic! Loved every single word!
4.5 stars...A great story for these guys as Lady Fate steps in at the right time. Gregory and Rory are great together. Although I didn't connect to the characters I enjoyed reading this. This book has a gorgeous twist included I didnt see coming. I liked the start but the second half is fantastic as the story entwined to a awesome finish. Gregory had Rory figured out already but Rory had to have the strength to recover and bounce back. Rory is a spoillt brat who needs a good paddling. Gregory's strings are being played by his parents that's until things blow up in a big way. Includes bondage, dare sex, depression topic, Master and Sub, virgin, breaking rules in more ways than one, a bad manager's and more. Lady Fate will have to work more of her magic for them to be together.
The previously short story of Gregory 39 yr and Rory 22 yrs made into this longer book. Gregory was an art director and wasn't a fan of Christmas since his memories weren't good ones. Walking across a bridge he meets Rory. Rory a exballet dancer on the cusp of ending his life when Gregory steps in.
The reason I almost gave it three instead of four stars is that it is as if Gregory became a totally different character once he went home to visit. I thought that Rory's response to his accident was sadly realistic and I really appreciated how Gregory fought against his selfish nature. Then they go to his home and suddenly they are all in a Mary Poppins (in spirit) movie. Luckily Rory stays the same and I admire his determination, which he owes to Gregory and his extended family. A pleasant read. I love come back stories.
Rory a ballet dancer has a fall he thinks this is the end.. Gregory finds Rory who is contemplating a disaster . Gregory comes from money where Rory doesn't . This book shows how Gregory convinces Rory to let him help him , it also shows the love that can grow between them both.
This book has a great story line terrific characters also great humour .. A great read . Gregory is 32 years old Rory is 22 and its a perfect match..
This book was really good. I loved the characters and the world building. Rory was awesome and Gregory was hilarious. Loved them both. I loved how there wasn't a lot of angst in the book. It was so good. I can't stop thinking about it. Highly recommend if your in the mood for a sweet romance.
Oh My Goodness!! I absolutely loved this book! The first half was sweet, the second was hilarious. More people need to know about this book, more people need to review it, it's amazing. Both main mc's were wonderful, sweet, quirky men, and quite lovable. This author is new to me, I'm very impressed and plan to read more of his books.
New to me author. There was some surprises and unpredictable storyline additions. Great book for a palate cleanse. Stand-alone story. Left wanting a little more.
