Liz Peters hasn’t exactly gotten the happily-ever-after she’s read about in her Jane Austen books. ‘Always a bridesmaid’ is more fitting to the way life has been passing this good girl by. About to go postal from loneliness, she meets a man who doesn’t seem to fit any of her requirements for a book-worthy hero. Kieran Carter would do just about anything to put a smile on his terminally ill mother’s face. When he meets a woman in the ice cream aisle at the grocery store, Kieran finally has opportunity to do just that. If he needs to lie in order to give his mom a little hope? Not a freakin problem. It all seems so neat and tidy. An arrangement is struck that benefits them both, but when lines get blurry and the guilt of lying to everyone they love becomes too much, neither Liz or Kieran can tell what’s real and what’s for show. And somewhere in the middle is the last person they ever expected to fall in love with. *Tell Them Lies is the third in a series of standalone titles. It's certainly not necessary to read the first two, but there are recurring characters in all of the stories.*

I love this book and that is not a lie! My ultimate favorite in the series The bad boy with tattoos and the blonde gorgeous bookworm! The story is heartwarming, funny and an easy read.. I just can't stop reading it!
5 *I wouldn't mind "faking it" a bit with Kieran too :P * stars
Me after finishing another Karla Sorensen book:
There are books that you know you just can't do justice with a review, and Tell Them Lies is one of them. I can't say a single bad word about it, the story was just perfect in my opinion. Liz and Kieran are my favorite Sorensen couple (even despite my deep love for Jake *gasps*). I can't find words to say how much I loved it. LOVED IT. A very original plot, a bit of a hate-to-love story mixed with a fake-relationship (which turns out to be not so fake at all ;) ) - you've never read anything funny, romantic and heartwarming like this before.
Liz. A fellow bookworm and good girl. My spirit animal and bookish version of me in many parts (okay, I only wish I was a gorgeous blue-eyed blonde, although I know a person who fits the look perfectly, hi Goddess ;)) It's kind of creepy that I could relate to a fictional character that much. I understand Liz's struggles, being unsure about her career, dreams, plus the feeling of being left out a bit, like everyone moves forward and you're the only one that seems to stand in the same place, stuck at some point in your life, not knowing what to do next. It takes courage to break through, sometimes you just need the right person by your side, someone to light you up (see what I did there? LOL) and believe in you when you didn't yourself.
Kieran, a perfect gentleman hidden under that whole tattoed bad boy appearance. He was utterly *le sigh* and removing his layers (preferably along with his clothes... lol ;)) enabled getting to know him, his past, and discover there was much more about him than meets the eye at first look. I'm adding that gem to my spacious book boyfriend collection ;) <3
I loved how Kieran tore through Liz's defenses, made them get closer to each other, then at last stop pretending and denying their obvious chemistry. I liked how they didn't make up immediately later in the book after a serious fight. It felt reasonable and right. Their relationship had the chance to grow stronger at a normal and steady pace, something that was missing at first.
With this book comes an important message that you shouldn't let your past deprive you of your dreams and future. I only wish it was that easy in real life: not to look back and to find the courage to be who you want to be. Non sum qualis eram.
Tell Them Lies is my favorite Sorensen book to date. I can't praise and recommend it hard enough. It's sad to see the series come to an end, but knowing that Casey, Rachel and Liz got their own HEAs is a sweet consolation prize that I fully embrace. After all, whenever I miss them, I can grab the books and read them again. And again. I know I will. Many times. <3
I loved this series so much!! I'm really sad that all my girls have told their stories. I got really attached to Casey, Rachel, & Liz. But their stories couldn't have ended any better.
Liz is lonely. Casey is planning a wedding and Rachel is married with a seven month old. They used to have girls night several times a week but now they are lucky to get together once every three weeks. Kieran only knew one thing.. His mother was sick with cancer and he was gonna do anything to make her happy. What would make Maggie happy?? To see her only son happy with someone special. Unusual circumstances bring them together but will they find true happiness in the middle of chaos and lies?
This is a beautiful story. It will grab you by the heart and not let go.
Karla Sorensen is definitely an automatic one click for me. She has a way of really making her characters come to life. This is definitely a must read series.
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

My Thoughts This was a really sweet book. I really liked Liz, a certain part made me intensely dislike Rachel, argh. Kieran was really sweet as was his family.
It starts great, the story just go straight to the point, we get to see how they first met, then Kieran making offer to have pretend relationship then they grow feeling for each other until one night when they finally make it clear that they don't want to pretend anymore, the conflict came. For me, I get why Kieran did what he did but I think he can handle it better, same with Liz.
I have no problem with the plot, it feels solid and in a good pace. Character wise they're all good, but Kieran care about what perceive as masculine and what perceive as feminine a little too much for my taste. He's not judging others, it's more like he doesn't want to be seen as feminine even for a little bit. There's no major problem for me but.. it just doesn't keep my interest, sorry.
Out of the three books in this series, this one hooked me the most quickly. There was something just so engaging about the opening chapter of this book. Maybe it was the mention of ice cream. Maybe it was the fact that the H went grocery shopping in sweat pants. I'm not sure. Unfortunately, the story started to fizzle out for me the moment Liz and Kieran had their first fight. Honestly, what happened there? It was anti-climactic and weird.
This book was just ok. I felt like the plot was a little all over the place. There was a lot happening in this story. There's the H, Kieran, (which sort of sounds like a girl's name?), who's mom is dying. He has never had the urge to get married and settle down and doesn't feel like he will anytime soon. Then there's the h, Liz, who is the product of her parents' upbringing. She's very cautious, always thinks everything through before she speaks, and is very reluctant to take risks. The MCs embark on this fake relationship and along the way so many significant changes occur. Without giving too much away, it all felt a little muddled to me and I'm not sure I liked it that much. It was all a little boring.
What I liked: 1) The dual povs. I really liked hearing from Kieran. He actually sounded like a guy without being too crass or offensive. 2) Kieran. He was a good guy. He might not have been the most honest, but he had good intentions and a sweet disposition. Unfortunately, he was a big of a wuss when it came to telling Liz how he felt about her. 3) Liz. She wasn't rash or dramatic. Unfortunately, she was also a little boring. 4) Seeing all the MCs from the previous books. 5) This was not sappy, even though it dealt with emotions.
What I didn't like: 1) I was bored. 2) The epilogue gave away more about Casey and Rachel than it did about Liz. And unfortunately, I found that I didn't really care too much by that point. 3) Maybe it's because I just finished a book where the MCs refused to clearly identify what was going on between them. When I found that the MCs in this book were going that route, I sighed a deep sigh. I just knew it was going to cause some annoying drama/angst.
Definitely the best of the series! Loved Liz, really loved Kieran! This was sweet, with a touch of sad. I didn't really care for the first two books in this series, but this one was more like the Karla Sorensen I've come to love from her Washington Wolves and Ward Family series, so obviously this is an author who just keeps getting better with each book she writes. So, I'll be moving on to the spinoff series to this, Bachelors of the Ridge, which starts with Casey's brother, Dylan.
This was my first read by Karla and I loved it! Her writing is detailed and grabs at you, dragging you straight into the story. Liz and Kieran's story wasn't a typical one. Bad boy meets good girl, yes, but you also have the good girl come out of her shell and give that bad boy a run for his money like no other. This is a fun, light story with a perfect touch of deepness mixed in and I would highly recommend it for a great read!
This book had me laughing through my tears, and I love that. Sorensen takes us inside a difficult time in Kieran's life as he deals with his mother's illness while at the same time finally finding someone he can lean on. Kieran and Liz were such well-drawn characters, a perfect example of opposites attract, and I loved watching them slowly begin to realize how well they're contrasting personalities actually fit. If you're looking for a romance with humor and heart, I highly recommend this one!
This is Karla's third book in her three little words series and I hoped I would enjoy it just as much as I enjoyed her first 2 books in the series. After devouring this book, it's save to say I enjoyed it also.
Tell Them Lies is the story of Liz. We met her in Light Me Up and By Your Side. She is the quiet Librarian to Casey's dramatics and Rachel's craziness. Karla reminded us with this story that it's the quiet Librarians you have to look out for, and there may be a tattooed god standing in the ice cream isle. Liz is feeling a little lost in her life. Her two best friends are married and busy with family life. Who does she have to come home to? No one, and it's depressing. While having a pity party for herself in the middle of the ice cream isle she has a run in with Kieran. Kieran is a tattooed, gym owning, mother loving kind of man. His mother is dying of cancer and he's at a loss of what to do for her. He's 35 and single with not a single grandkids in sight. When he sees an angel look alike he thought that maybe she could give him hope, but he doesn't know her. When Kieran runs into Liz several days later he throws her under the bus. He had told him mom he was seeing someone and when he saw Liz at the library he asked her to play along. So basically they play a couple so her friends don't pity her and so his mom doesn't worry about him. Unfortunately it doesn't stay that simple. Both Kieran and Liz end up developing really feelings for each other. But Liz can't stand deceiving everyone they love. And Kieran fights his feelings for Liz, because he doesnt know how she feels. Only question is can two opposites make a right and work as a couple? I always liked Liz. She's not one who really knew how to deal with people, she much rather stay in her stories. Kieran though was great. The tattoos, his love for the gym, loyalty to his family, and smart mouth reminded me of my own husband. As far as I am concerned Karla hit this one out of the park. You'll have to read Tell Them Lies to figure out what happens with Kieran, Liz, and Kieran's mother. Here are a few quotes from the book that made me smile; "Care to explain how? Because this isn't fu- um, this isn't freaking easy for me to ask you. Do you think I like that I don't have an actual girlfriend to bring around my mom? Or that I haven't been able to give her grandkids before she dies?" "I think it should start being your usual style. The sexpot look suits you." "So the details of how we met got blurred in translation, it's not like we're committing murder." "Because now I'm definitely not ready to die today, since I just witness the equivalent of pigs flying out of my ass." Plot- 4/5 Character- 4/5 Heat- 3.5/5 Writing style- 4/5 Overall- 4/5
**I was given an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. Seraphim Book Reviews**
This entire series reads like a first time author. I don’t know that I would have felt that way if I read these books when first released. But now, having read more of her books, I see the newness of her words. I thought Liz and Kieran had the most chemistry out of all three couples but that isn’t saying much.
The behavior Kieran exhibits in the beginning would be considered aggressive, stalking behavior in the real world. And Liz is a coward and so passive, it’s annoying. Kieran had every right to be mad that she told his mom their relationship was fake. And can we just talk about the overreaction about the “lie”? Y’all. It’s a simple stretch of the truth that is finding its way into reality. Calm down.
All in all, this book was fine but I did skim lots because it’s so wordy at times. It’s an ok read.
This book was recommended to me by Amazing and I read it via Kindle Unlimited.
It is book #3 on a 3 books series: Three Little Words Series. This series interconnect with another series by her: Bachelors of the Ridge (since the female protagonist of book #1 is the sister Dylan (protagonist of book #1 on the other series). I LOVE when authors interconnect their book series!!!!
I read the full series (3 books) over the course of a week and loved them (book #3, this book, was my favorite), I am so happy I have found a new author to read and that she has several other books out (and I might or might not had already read them all😊)
Though part of a book series, each book can be read as a standalone, since there are no cliffhangers and even though characters of previous books appear on the next books, the author provides enough context for you to not have to read the previous books before reading whichever book you picked up.
Tell them Lies, follows the story of Liz and Kieran, after a random encounter at the grocery store, Kieran describes Liz as his new girlfriend to his sick mother only to find her later at the Library were her mother’s take a quilting class. He convinced Liz to be his pretend girlfriend and he agrees to go with her to her friend´s wedding… and so it begins! They go from pretend partners, to lovers, to strangers, to friends, to friends that love each other through the pages of this book…
Both characters are well written, they have issues and are not perfect, but they are truly trying their best and their issues are realistic and workable.
You get glimpses of Liz friends protagonists of the other 2 books on this series.
Super-fast and great read, fully recommend the whole series!!!
Tell Them Lies was my favorite book in the Three Little Words series. I could see the progression in Sorensen's writing over the series and it shined brightest in this book. I liked that Liz was a bookworm, but not in the cooky way a lot of romance authors write them. The way she met Kieran was funny and the "relationship" that followed was fun. There was some sad stuff that made me, well, sad. I think that's what made me give it less than 5 stars. It was a sweet story, but I wanted to be 100% happy when I finished.
Why? The reasons are endless. I hate when authors can’t remember what they just wrote. Example: it’s Friday evening and yet next Friday evening is 9 days away?? My math skills must be lacking, or maybe it’s the ‘new math’. This happens more than once with the math issue. There are a few errors, proofreading would have helped. Then the endless “oh, we shouldn’t lie” got really annoying. Okay, maybe downgrade to 2 stars. Definitely NOT my favorite. Can’t recommend.
3 1/2 stars. A sweet and at times melancholy fake relationship romance. Relatively slow burn and fade to black. Liz is a lonely librarian with few ties while Kieran is a tattooed gym owner whose Mom is dying from cancer.... After a chance encounter they pretend to be involved so that Kieran's mom can stop worrying about him being alone when she is gone...
This book has quite a few minor editorial issues, mostly missing words....
4.5stars...l loved this series, and this book is my favourite of the three...storyline is around h/h, them faking a relationship..its sweet, cute, very emotional, both Kieran and Liz are likeable characters, loved the writing and am so looking forward to read more books from author...also, i read after the 'end' stories, which were a wonderful bonus:-)
Book 3 of the Three Little Words trio was my favorite (obviously). Kieran was the perfect unexpected guy, and Liz didn’t have the interminable hot/cold that Rachel did. I loved her honesty, and that they ultimately built their relationship on that. Maggie was a beautiful soul, too.
Nope. Didn't work for me. Both h and H had some likeable character traits, but they didn't work together. I hated how the h after their intense night went straight up to the H's mom and told her about the lie. Didn't like the h's friends and how they behaved, treating her over and over like a child. 2 stars.

This was great! Great characters, great pace and an interesting development of characters and the relationships. It made me laugh and cry and sigh, so all I could ask for. Not sure about the reveal scene and how it played out, but all in all I couldn't put this book down and had a lot of fun, so I can only recommend it!
The overall premise of this book was fantastic. I love that there was a librarian heroine who was trying to find her happiness in work. This book was made of all the things I love- fake dating, one bed. Kieran was an absolutely perfect hero and I loved fantasizing about him.
If you're looking for a pretty mild, enjoyable romance story I would absolutely recommend this book.
My favorite book of the serious. Kieran was so much more that his first impression…..he is a stand up guy and a momma’s boy. Liz needed to let loose a little and I was happy to see Kieran encourage her to take some chances and not always play it safe! I sure was hoping Liz would get a tattoo like Kieran and Maggie’s in the epilogue!
Very seldom does a book make me sob--this one did. So many things hit me close to my heart. The characterisations, the progression of the mother's illness, the development of the relationships it just grabbed me by the heartstrings and tugged. I give this book five stars. Something that I seldom do.
"I'd like to ask you to go steady with me. To promise me that you won't run away when i do stupid shit, or ask you for the millionth time wheter you'll get a tattoo. I'm asking you if you'll commit yourself to me with whatever label you'd like to put on it. My girldfriend, my partner, my love, my soulmate, or just my love. I'll take any of them." ♥️
Bit wierd setup for relationship of convenience. What happens when his mum lives bit longer than expected? No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. The couple are sweet together. Secondary characters from previous books appear. No cheating. HEA.
Kieran and Liz are an adorable couple. He is such a surprise, and the epitome of looking beyond the cover to see what’s inside. I’m glad Liz got her own story and was such a perfect hero for her.
I thought Casey was my favorite. And then I read Rachel’s story and thought she was my favorite. But Liz and Kieran take the cake. Ugh. This book is beautiful and lovely and perfect. I am so happy I found this series.
