Set in the Wards and Wands Universe, Ripley Proserpina and Rebecca Royce offer up a witchy love story sure to melt your hearts. When a strong willed woman takes in three stray cats she has no idea they are the Addington Brothers, her neighbors who have been torturing her for years and are now cursed to walk on four feet.
While she'd never have believed it possible, all the Addingtons want now is to show Michaella they can be trusted with her heart. What happens next will change not only their four lives forever but the witching world everywhere.
**Meow, Baby was previously released in the charity anthology Petting Them**
Low level witch and healer, Michaella’s luck with men sucks. Dealing with a bad break up, her confidence is in its epic low. Coming to a trashed front yard (again!) made by the infuriating jerks but oh-so-hot neighbors? She had about lost it if not for the quick trip to the ocean and the three cute stray cats that she found waiting outside her house. Now, if they would just stop acting really weird...
Okay, first off. Never have I ever wanted a novella to be a full length novel until this one. Ever. Not that I’m complaining because the authors packed it with as much well written story, solid plot and lovable characters that I just want more of this world.
The story was a fun, awesome read, with the right amount of action and steamy parts (ahem, Addington boys) that will hook you from start to finish and leave you wanting for more. Highly recommend it!
Did I say I want more of this story? No? Fingers crossed that I get to see more of them.
Meow Baby by Rebecca Royce & Ripley Proserpina is a wonderful short story, that lacks nothing. The characters and storyline fabulous.
Michaella is a healer witch with limited magic, with three very annoying neighbours. The relationship Michaella and the Addington brothers changes quickly after being spelled.
I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest! It was a great book ! What is Michaella to do with 3 hot hunks cursed into 3 cats ? Loved the characters + the storytelling ! It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I had really hoped to like this better than I did, but I couldn't help feeling things were a little too rushed and the main character a little too easily forgiving. I suppose the brothers' reasoning for their attitudes was more or less understandable, but that doesn't make that easily excusable.
I did like the storyline though - because who wouldn't love those adorable cats?? I kind of wish the brothers had stayed as cats a bit longer, because they were more enjoyable that way haha. There were definitely some interesting points, and I especially wish there were more pages if only to further explain Michaella's magic .
All three stars are for the premise and setting which I loved. The men though were too shitty to be redeemed in a novella, and it just meant I was angry when they got together. They're established as needlessly horrible little rich boys who do what they want, who've been bullies since highschool, who are remembered by other characters besides the heroine as shitty people. Then the heroine Michaella spends half a day with the "real" them and they're friends? One of the heros explains that they're awful because so they just treat everyone like garbage... and when the heroine hears this, she goes "You became assholes, but for the best reasons."
"Best reasons?" Michaella, please raise your standards. She even at one point towards the end of the story, after doubting these men who've been nice to her for a week but awful to her for years, thinks that she doesn't deserve them because she doesn't trust them. Why should you trust them???
I preferred when the men were cats. I don't know why I love this dynamic so much but I'm drawn to it, I loved The King's Captive for the same reason.
This book was so much fun! The Addington brothers are Michaella's neighbors, and they aren't very good ones. They constantly make a mess of her property and make fun of her as she tries to clean up. She can't use magic because she doesn't have much. What she does have is usually expended as a healer at Prestige, a private hospital where she is employed.
When she comes home one day to find three black cats, she immediately offers them sanctuary. Feeding them and keeping them safe.
After lying to a couple of shady characters that inform her they are looking for the Addington's cats, she decides to take them to work with her. It's while they are here that she finds they have been transfigured in a way that could be permanent.
We get to see Lawson as he is the enforcer who comes to reverse the Addington brothers back. I love Lawson, he manages to put them in their place right away.
There is another issue though, the guys have realized something since Michaella took them in, they need to apologize and also convince her to give them a chance. Not to mention finding the folks that turned them to begin with.
A totally enjoyable romp with lots of giggles and serious sizzle.
Michaella may be a witch but she has little power. The Addington brothers may have power but little character. So what changes for the Addingtons’ and Michaella? Meow Baby is a quick read by Rebecca Royce and Ripley Proserpina. I really liked Michaella. She may have little power but she has a big heart. Her job drains what little magic she has but she continues to do so with a kind touch I did not care at all for Zack, David and Bradley Addington. Calling them jerks would be too kind. But Ms. Royce and Ms. Proserpina could not leave me feeling poorly about the brothers. I loved how they showed the Addington brothers the error of their ways. I enjoyed seeing Michaella’s kind heart show the brothers a better way. This was a quick enjoyable read. I thoroughly enjoyed entering this world created by Ms. Royce and Ms. Proserpina. I look forward to returning in the future.
Michaella is a witch that works at a hospital for old witches . She is a healer and has little power. Her one joy in life is to be by the ocean. Flying over it or swimming in it. Her neighbors are her nightmares. The Addington brothers. Zach, Bradley, and David. Oh and thier witches to far more powerful then she is. Then one night 3 cats show up on her door and everything change for her. This was a fun read , it had drama, action, betrayal, mystery, spice, twists and turns plus so much more. The characters are great and pull you in the story fast. I didn't want the end don't miss it. Voluntarily reviewed a copy and I honestly loved it. I got this one when it was in the set called "petting them " with other authors
I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. Michaella is a low left witch who can fly and has healing powers. She loves to fly and go swimming in the ocean. She has three very irritating neighbors knows as the Addington Brothers. They love making her life miserable. They are mean and cruel to her and have been that way for years. Then three cats show up at her door and she enjoys taking care of them and talking to them. She takes them with her to work to comfort some of the patients and she gets some news about the cats. This changes everything and it makes her feel like things are going to change even more. Why to finds out what happens to the Addington Brothers and Michaella then grab this quick read. You will not regret it.
Meow, Baby: A Wands and Wards Novella by Rebecca Royce and Ripley Proserpina
*I received an ARC of this novella from the author in exchange for honest review*
This novella was just so sweet, that I read it in one sitting. I can say that I wanted this to be longer so much.
The romance happened suddenly- the brothers went from jerks to charming rather quickly. It would have been more believable if we could have seen their point of view as they began interacting with the main heroine.
That would be my only complaint about this book. I’m happy that I took the time to read it and I recommend it to anyone who loves reading HEA RH! 😊

Heather's Notes This was a good story, but short. I enjoyed meeting Michaella and the Addingtons. I liked the whole premise.
Meow Baby by Rebecca Royce and Ripley Proserpina is a great story that features a woman that has very little self esteem. She is a witch with what she thinks are limited powers and make her inferior to others. Her neighbors don't help. When three cats enter her life, everything changes. It is a story with a lot of heart and I really liked Michaella.
I’m not a huge RH fan, but I did like parts of this one. What I didn’t really like was the speed with which all was forgiven. If those three had really been as bad as described, I can’t see any non doormat woman being all ok and forgiving just because they suddenly come up with a sob woe is me story as an excuse. I think if the h had been a little more woman and less “sweet doormat” this could have been a 5 star read, the world building was that good.
This fun novella will kick the spice level of the series up a notch if you have been reading along. This one is a fun reverse harem with an enemies to lovers trope to entertain and delight. It's a short read and the spice level is hot so if you like a good paranormal rom com with a bit of bite then this is the one to read. I would recommend reading the series in order as the characters do build upon their introductions in previous books.
This novella was pretty amazing. It was nice to have an RH book in the Wards and Wands series. It was short, but perfect. I love the universe that is created in this series. The powers, the characters, the soul mates. The Addington Brothers were glorious and the FMC was timid, yet strong. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series!
A well written story that kept me turning pages,I had to know how this was going to turn out. Michaella and the three Addington Brothers who have been turned into cats will have a lot to overcome before they get a happy ending. I enjoyed reading this story. Meow, Baby was previously released in the charity anthology Petting Them.
A short story but well written and very sweet. The three guys started out rude, obnoxious and brats, but as we get to know them we find out there's more to them than that. Really enjoyed reading it.
This was perfect! Loved the cats and those bad Addingtons. Love the main character and how she thought she was not powerful, which, of course, was proven wrong in the end. It moves quickly, which is exactly perfect for this wonderful little story.
I read this in the Petting Them Anthology and I skipped right to the book from Rebecca and Ripley- because I absolutely love these authors. And let me tell you- when these to Get together it’s dynamite!
I love this short story! It’s got great characters and a funny plot. Our FMC is a kind, caring “low” witch while the three “strong” brothers are kind of jerks but a twist of fate has all our characters re-evaluating all they know.
Rebecca & Ripley give a fun version of a healing witch that comes to the rescue of three mangy cats. They spin the story so that you may guess at what you think is happening, but you don’t really know even at the end. It was sweet, sassy and fun.
Short read but sooo good. It was not what I was expecting at all it was better. I fell in love with the characters. Of course it took me a little longer to like the brothers though.
This book was way fun. Michaella is having a time after a harsh break up. Coming home to a trashed yard and life kind of feeling sucky she finds three cats. But these cats turn out to be just what see needed. wink wink
I went into this knowing it was a novella, that said I'd have preferred it as a novel because everything felt so rushed. They were only.cats for a blink and then they lover's instead of enemies a blink later. It kind of gave me whiplash
The writing just didn't seem up to par with the other books in the series. The phrasing was abrupt and clunky, and the main characters' reasoning just didn't make sense. It's too bad, because the bones of the story are good.
good read. Enjoyed this short story. Michaella is a food and king neighbour, its a shame her neighbours are the opposite. Michaela just wants to come home from her hard job to peacee, but all she finds is destruction. great read.
I went into this one blind after seeing it mentioned on a book group. This book was so much better than I expected after reading the blurb. The only thing I would change is adding POV from the three guys in and out of cat form.
This was really a two star read because of how jumpy the scenes were. A lot of it didn’t make sense but it was cut enough to look past it. Cute and dumb but don’t recommend.
How Michaela put up with the terrible trio for so long is amazing. But her taking in 3 strays and going about her day, while including them, makes her just that much nicer of a woman.
