"She felt him before she saw him, and the impact of his spirit made her gasp. It was like looking into the sun and never wanting to look away. He made her fingers itch to reach out and touch, a sensation she’d never felt in all her years. Then she rounded a corner and saw him."
Reigning Magicks is the perfect example of what a good time travel romance can and should do. We have our heroine who is thrusted 300 years into the future after performing a ritual with hopes of uniting both her familial clan, and their rivals without having to marry someone she doesn't love. It is in the present day that she meets the man she is destined to be with, although he is betrothed to someone else.
Full of beautiful, descriptions of magic..the push and pull of should Ashlynn stay in present day or return to her own time? What is back in the past for her to do, being that it's very obvious life continued on without her? It ends with a happy ever after, but also a happy for now. You are on the edge of your seat in preparation for more to come. Wonderfully written, I can't wait to jump into book two!

An interesting start to the series
This is an alternative take on the time-travel romance (from what I’m aware of and have read, anyway), where the female of the pair magically travels into the future instead of the past, in order to find her true love.
Well, OK, it is somewhat more complicated than that, but that is at least part of the basic principle behind the story.
Ashlynn searches for the local seer in order to find a way to not be forced to marry a Warlord from another clan. She is granted one wish, which unexpectedly catapults her into the future. Does she find a way to return to her family, after her sister has taken her place in the union, or does she choose to stay and create her own path?
I was a bit sceptical of the storyline at first, but it rounded off nicely. Am looking forward to the next book!
I found the writing to be immature and it never seemed to settle on one genre or another. The characters were ill-defined and in one instance the terminology was offensive.
Ashlyn, a princess of the clan Kavanaugh has been arranged to marry Brigacos from a different clan in order to obtain peace between clans. But Ashlyn who did not wanted to marry him went to find a seeker I'm search of ways to stop the war with out marrying Brigacos. The seeker gave her a stone and told her to ask for a wish. Ashlyn did as she was told but was taken trough time to the future. She traveled from the 1700s to the year 2019 where she meet Cian. The handsome prince who was arranged to marry Serena in less than two weeks. Cian offered to help her find the answers to the way back home but I'm the mean time the feelings for each other keep growing. Putting his marriage at risk as well as her past. Now she must decide, should she come back to her people in the 1700s and find a way to rule them or should she stay here with Cian and let love win.
My thoughts:
This story was not only different but also very amazing. But then again why am I surprised? It was written by two talented authors. Candace Osmond & JJ King. I loved it how they made this into a time travel romance and still was able to add a twist in the mix. I absolutely loved Ashlyn. Being in a new world she wasn't accostumed to, didn't stopped her from being her fiercely self. She show Serena who was stronger. I'm glad some one put Serena in her place! Great job guys!
Reigning Magicks is the story of Ashlynn, a princess living in the time of the druids who finds herself in an arranged marriage to unite two druid clans as a form of a peace treaty. Being the stubborn girl that she is, she refuses to marry and enters the forest in search of a powerful witch who can provide her with a powerful spell to avoid the situation. Unfortunately, the spell goes a bit awry and she winds up in a different time and an unknown world. There she meets Cian, a sorcerer who finds himself in a similar predicament as Ashlynn - ready to enter an arranged marriage with Serena, a woman he doesn't really care for to unite two feuding clans. The two of them work together to figure out how to get Ashlynn back to her home. They grow close and Ashlynn finds herself second guessing her decision to head home. Serena is portrayed as a woman scorned and I'm definitely interested to see how she reacts to being cast aside for another woman and being denied her dream in future installments. Considering this book is about druids/magic, I found it a bit lacking in that department. It wasn't clear to me what the extent of Ashlynn's and Cian's powers are. Regardless, it seems to be a promising start to a new series.

This was a quick and fun read. I enjoyed the mystery of the bloodlines and how Cian and Ashlynn interacted. One thing that threw me was the modern language coming from Ashylnn who is from 300 years in the past. I found that hard to get past, for example she referred to someone as a "twat" which while kind of funny is also something she never would have heard before. How did she come up with that word? Things like that made the story a bit disjointed for me. I also didn't understand really - or still don't I guess - that she has magic, but the people of her time don't know about her or her family because they don't have magic....do they just not interact? Are these non magic people "her people" that she wants to rule over? Or just the magic people? Obviously someone knows they exist as she was to be married to a rival clan... it was only mentioned briefly when she met Cian for the first time so I have no idea what that was about. Would love to hear more about that in future books for clarification. Despite all this I enjoyed the book and the topic. I enjoyed the fortune teller and the imagery of that. I am very interested to see how things progress with Serena as well.
Ashlynn is an Irish princess, set to sit on her father’s throne and rule her people. The only problem is: an arranged marriage she wants nothing to do with. She wants the clans to unite, but not by marrying because of duty. She seeks the seer, in hopes of finding another solution to her problem. But it just creates a new one: thanks to a spell gone wrong, Ashlynn is thrust over three hundred years into the future. Not only does she have to adjust to this new world, she needs to figure out why the spell went wrong and how she can get back to her own people.
Cian is a Roma prince, set to marry in just two weeks. He is set on this duty to unite the clans, that is until Ashlynn comes along. She is unlike his fiance Serena, who is a vile woman set on e power their marriage will give her. Cian makes it his mission to help Ashlynn but in the process her falls in love with her.
Did the spell really go ong, or was it destiny? How can Ashlynn get back to her own time and how can Cian get out of a marriage without causing a war between the clans? I am really impressed with this book. Co-authoring isn’t easy, but these two make it look seamless! I forgot that two creativewomen wrote this book as I was reading. The style and flow of the writing was consistent throughout the story. Each character voice stayed true. Their hard work has really paid off. This is book one in their A Witch In Time series and I am really excited for book 2!
“The power of the wish is grand, but it cannot create love from nothing. "
Upon finding herself about to be married to someone for political reasons, Ashlynn, eldest daughter finds any way to stop it, succeeding in the most unusual way. After the ritual propelled her forward 3 centuries, she finds herself in the middle of a similar situation. Can she make the right choice? Will she?
This is the first in a new series by Candace Osmond and JJ King. It is fun and serious at the same time. I read it very fast and can hardly wait for the next in the series. Highly Recommended 5/5

The plot in Reigning Magicks is very similar to Last Rites by Andie M. Long, but infinitely better. Here the clan princess chooses (somewhat) to leave her world behind, refusing marriage for the sake of peace. She travels 300 years in the future to meet a prince from a modern day clan and together they learn that somethings are decided by fate and the loss of one thing may bring something better.
The characters aren’t as well developed as I like, but I can forgive it for a good plot line, narrative voice, and believable happily ever after. I’m hoping the character development is flushed out over the rest of the series.
I was pleasantly surprised with the time travel and magic elements. This love story between Cian and Ashlynn was just what I wanted to read after Christmas. They fell for each other because neither was what the other had previously encountered. They were well matched, attractive, and good, kindhearted characters. Of course it was complicated by Cian’s mean, cold, and power hungry fiancé, Serena. What happens to Ashlynn’s family left behind in the 1700s and her fiancé meant to bring both clans together? Does she return to her time? Read this quick novel to find out.
I was dragged in from the start. The beginning kinda had the movie "Brave" feeling to it, and I wanted to see where it went. And I am in awe! Ashlynn is a princess from the past, Cian is a "prince" of the present. And when a magical wish Ashlynn is granted, they're world's are thrust together and Ashlynn is suddenly apart of Cian's world, almost 300 years later. This is a wicked good storyline, with amazing characters and incredible world building! Looking forward to the next installment!!!
Ashlynn flees an unwanted marriage, I know not original, Ahw flees and ends up in present time a d finds the like she wants. Of. Ourse, there are complications. The story is very well written and I found myself feeling for the characters. I can't wait to see what happens next.

What a surprisingly good read! I very much enjoyed this time travel/supernatural tale, with good characters and premise. It is overall a great start to a series. Good writing, too.
The twists in this tale just adds spice to an already exciting and adventurous tale that will shock you. I highly recommend this tale and eagerly await the next book in this series.
