Black Angels MC #1

Outlawed Lust

Rate this book
I won’t hesitate to get my hands bloody for her.
I saw the pain in Elizabeth’s eyes when I rescued her from an attacker.
Quiet, mousy, and beautiful.
The girl is cloaked under the invisibility of dirt and stigma.
She keeps to herself in the community of homeless people.
But I will not let her painful past haunt her anymore.
Her scars tell a story that makes my blood boil.
I see her.
I want her.
I thought Black Angels was my only obsession until I met her.
The club was formed after my brother’s tragic death.
It transformed my life.
It gave me the power and reach I need to save Elizabeth.
And I will not stop at anything until she’s safe in my arms.
I need to mark her as mine. Forever.

There are currently NO trigger warnings listed in the description for this book. This appears to be a new author, so apparently they are not yet on the up and up with the thoughtful trend of providing readers a heads up (Hey author, many readers like to know what they're getting into. Often times people LOOK for darker reads, you might get more downloads with a heads up), I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but there SHOULD BE ONE! This book contains: Drug dealing, the mention of drug use, murder, violence / assault, sex (though not the sex scenes I would hope for), the mention of self harm, the mention of child abuse and repeated and violent child sexual assault the heroine endured as a child...there's some other little things here and there in the book. But be WARNED! This is not a 'safe' across the board 'romance'. Honestly, it should likely be considered dark romance.
It does give the impression of a HEA, it cuts off abruptly and questions are answered. If you read it you'll see what I mean.
So I did not rate it a 3 because of the lack of warning, this is why:
The H received a BJ from OW / another woman early on in the book after he met the heroine, Elizabeth. At this point E. was still homeless and they were not a couple and had not done anything sexually. But it still felt unnecessary to include this scene, even if it did show case their 'loose women lifestyle' when not in a committed relationship. It did not happen again in the book, and the H/Carson even said to himself he basically wasn't into it and was picturing the heroine during the act.
The description leads a reader to believe this will be like many other romances where the H rescues the rough life h and they live HEA. However, the heroine endured several acts of violence by secondary characters during the book. One scene was especially horrific and she ended up in the hospital. No violence was due to the H thank goodness.
The H was protective, but yet the h did still end up being hurt.
The fact that it wasn't instalove or even the H immediately bringing in the h to safety was disappointing. She continued to wonder around homeless for many weeks even though he tried looking out for her and finding her.
The h / Elizabeth has tremendous psychological issues based on her childhood abuse. You could tell the author was trying to write out a book with a damaged H and h where they find each other and while they are flawed they begin to heal one another. However, the inconsistency within the h's scenes were disappointing. While victims of assault or individuals struggling with many forms of mental disorders or troubles can have personality inconsistencies, these were more related to intellectual and maturity behavioral avenues. In parts the h was made out to be totally uneducated, could not read, acted like a small child ( 7 years old when her abuse started ) and with the way the abusive situation was described you would believe that her mental development would have stopped somewhere roughly around the age of 7. But she does escape at I think it was 14 and was on her on. But she had very little interaction with others, so did she pick up on a lot being very observant?
Then in some scenes in her thinking, you would catch glimpses of deep thought processing and it was like on the tip of her tongue to work through things. And in many ways she was written then 'normal' functioning / thought processing like any other adult. But then it'd switch back to her having next to no grasp on emotional understanding and couldn't grasp well the behavior of others. For instance she couldn't decipher the difference of someone 'caring' about her from the type of 'care' / sex she received when abused versus what Carson was offering. He had to differentiate and say he loved her for her to realize he actually in a good way cared about her. Basically, many inconsistencies in behavioral development of the character in the book. And then at the end once she began to break down her protective barriers it was like she was some fast thinking, processing genius even using words during her 'revenge speech' that the characters didn't understand. And she all of a sudden was acting like some lethal quick witted smart woman. But she had been abused starting at 7 until she was what, 14? and was only 19 in the book....so where did all of that even come from? How did she even develop that? I could understand her being a genius intelligence level and even putting all the puzzle pieces together. But the 'smart way' her behavior displayed seemed out of place. I think it was great she was the one who put things together and how smart she was, but the way she presented it seemed in contrast to her age / experiences. However, I did REALLY like that they let her go handle the three people at the end up the book. I enjoyed seeing her break her walls and let them have it. Even if it wouldn't specifically be possible in the way she presented considered what we had learned about her past experiences, or the lack their of developmentally.
At times I got super frustrated in the book when it felt dragging and repetitive. I was like come on let's wrap this up. And I got tired of the h being ran through one bad situation after another. It was frustrating and anxiety inducing.
Really though, this heroine honestly needed drastic psychological treatment. I'm glad they helped each other, but she has some major issues.
The sex scenes were bland. The first one, felt very wrong considering she was unsure why she was enjoying it and was used to being used by men in her past when she was a child. It was her first adult sexual encounter. The second sex scene was better and she was enjoying it. But neither scene was written in a 'steamy' and/or detailed way. Neither scene turned me on because it felt more like a psychological exploration through her feelings and her processing the differences between her past experiences and the now. Also, did she cum or did she not either time? And I'm guessing he did...? Like it wasn't clear. And I read both of those scenes and found myself having questions and kind of grossed out because it felt wrong considering she still really had not yet processed through the differences between the abusive sexual counters of her childhood versus a healthy adult intimate sexual experience. If you'll read it, I think you'll get what I'm trying to relay.
Several great secondary characters though like Cody and Anthony.
LOVED the inclusion of the dog, even if the way he was found was horrible. Are there any good people left hardly in the world?
Loved that Ruddie got some revenge and so was Elizabeth. But like, what about the Uncle and Kacey? How did they get dealt with?
PROOF READING was needed. Just a nice slow read by the author or editor to clean up any confusing bits in scenes or wrong or missing words in sentences. For example in the second to last sentence of the book that should leave a reading impact: "And we were only a third the way done; " Uh.. I think you meant to add an OF in there...a third OF the way done. So just small little mistakes that could easily be corrected should be done.
Overall, I'm on the fence with this one. I am curious to see if the author will write additional books for this potential series. And if so, will they improve from this first go in the series?

A couldn’t finish this one. It needed - A bloody -good proof read - so much that mistakes affected enjoyment the book. Much like - this review.

ALSO I do not enjoy a heroine entering a highly dependent relationship with a man when she is clearly so mentally damaged. She spends a disproportionate amount of time curled up in a ball rocking and standing in the middle of traffic. Her stuttering and verbal communication did not reflect her thoughts - you don’t think like a rational grown woman and then talk like a child. Psychological damage is complex.

There was a lot of potential here. I liked the idea of our Carson feeling connected to our homeless girl. But I also wasn’t convinced of this relationship. It was odd.

What in the world........

This was insanity, just pure absolute insanity. What an odd feeling to have, but the book struggled to even make any sense. Things like was and wasn’t intermingled changing the meaning of the entire thought, until you realized later that it must’ve been the other way around. Which made it necessary to reread at times, even then it left me still wondering what the heck was trying to be portrayed or if I was even interpreting it correctly. The camaraderie of the boys had great potential but even their interactions often left you stumped. Lots of chaos without any one aspect strong enough to keep you holding on.

Uncomfortable

I don’t know where to start. There were a lot of cringeworthy moments and I think I hoped that the main character Elizabeth wouldn’t be too mentally abused& unstable to make a decent character in the book. The problem was this character was too abused to make this a story where a “safe” steamy romance could come from this. I understand the author probably thought “ I’ll give this girl a really dark past to make her interesting” and then spin it into a steamy romance - - - the follow through wasn’t there. And if the mc wasn’t as f*ed up then maybe I could see it. As it was, this character was too messed up in order for me to feel this was a true adult steamy CONSENSUAL read, and that’s why I couldn’t finish this. This girl wasn’t even on the truly mental stable awareness level (she also has no education either), as a regular person with some issues that this felt wrong. This felt like and excuse me if this is offensive, reading about an average human being having relations with someone mentally retarded. I finished 55% of the book so who knows maybe there was growth... I highly doubt it. This was so cringeworthy.

First time read for R.A. Black and I can not wait for the next one. Is it dark? Oh yes, however, it is gripping. Black Angel MC is one of the most riveting MC books I have read. Are there disturbing parts, yes, however, there are so many disturbingly awful things in the World that hurt people in the most unimaginable ways. R.A. Black has merely used a platform to draw attention to some. While others will not agree, I am a product of a System that falls. I applaud your courage. Follow along because you are in for one unbelievable ride. Truth does hurt but no more then Elizabeth. Carson is her saviour in many ways, however, it is Elizabeth that will triumph.

For those I offend, I apologize, but for those of you that sit in your home reading your book... imagine those that endure.

I was beyond fortunate to have requested an advanced reader's copy of Outlawed Lust in exchange for my honest opinion and I couldn't put this dark and addictive MC romance down. I said above in my review and I will say it again... I can't wait for the next release.

Trigger warnings: violence and abuse, sexual assault, drugs and drug dealing, murder, and references of self-harm

DNF 29%

I added the trigger warning because the author does not give any and the triggers in the book are many. I know this is a new author but you should always put trigger warning at the end of the blurb.

So this book. Elizabeth has been abused and assaulted since she was a child. She has had very little education and clearly has mental illnesses, i.e. anxiety, panic attacks, suicide etc. She is homeless and continuously on the run. I thought she was a interesting character who clearly needs help. I just don't think that help should be Carson.

I didn’t like Carson. I feel like Carson is using Elizabeth’s lack of education and mental issues to get what he wants. I especially didn’t like him after he talks about beating a woman in like the second or third chapter. He later (29% in) punches the same woman again and it is at this scene that I said I was done and stopped reading. I do not like to read a romance where one of the main characters are abusers. Just no. There wasn't anything else in the story to keep me reading so I am calling it quits.

Where do I start?
The Leading Lady is Homeless. She is always smelly and has layers of dirt and grime on her. She leaves dirt smudges where she touches people. She folds into a ball of shaking crying mess when people approach her. She is covered in scars from years of abuse. I am not sure she even is mentally stable/ capable of having a consensual relationship. She doesn't understand the difference between how she was sexually abused as a child/ growing up and having sex as an adult. She seems to have the mental capacity of a young teenager. Her nickname is "Sewer Mouse" <-sexy right? She is physically abused by other MC Members.
Our Anti-Hero while he has a soft spot for the Leading Lady at 32% he had punched and abused another woman in the club twice. He turned around and told another member if he abused a woman he would kill him yet he felt no remorse when he punched a woman in the face?!

This book is a hot-mess. The depiction of the Leading Lady is such a turn off it makes me uncomfortable reading from her perspective.

Deliciously fucked up. That’s what I expect from an MC book and I got it. I am so glad I did. Poor, broken homeless girl meets a man who becomes her hero, her saviour. A lot of tough shit goes down and they help each other out creating a bond that nothing and no one will break.

This is probably the worst book I have read in forever, there wasn't one thing about the story that made sense, I wouldn't even class it as a romance it was just a train wreck!

OMG … WOW … This book was AWESOME.

It had me from chapter 1.

If you are looking for a crazy and psychotic as hell, suspenseful, thrilling, cant put the book down, hanging on the edge of your seat, type of MC romance book. This one you will want to read.

I wont give any spoilers, so my review will be short as sweet.

I loved all the characters in this one. A very well thought out book. Has you hanging on the entire way through. A must read for any MC reader.

I have to admit, I never heard of this author, but I will definitely be looking forward to reading more books by R. A. Black.

I can not wait for the 2nd book.

This story is kind of dark on what happens to some young people. I did read the prequel and understood some of what Carson came from. I do wish it would explain either in the prequel or the first book how everything came about. Elizabeth lost her parents and her uncle abused her. Carson sees her and try's to help her any way he can. Can Elizabeth ever find freedom from her mind? Can she find freedom from her self? What will Carson do with her? Why is he so obsessed with her? Can he protect her? Can he help her in anyway?

This is a beautifully written story which is an emotional roller coaster journey from beginning to end. The plot and characters are relatable and realistic, and this story is filled with suspense and intrigue, which all had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner. This talented author has done a phenomenal job in penning this masterpiece, and I cannot wait to read more in this amazing series, and I highly recommend for all MC lovers.

This book could be so much more than it is. A man who threatens another for hurting a woman punches one in the face, twice. They ride motorcycles and run a bar. One is a doctor, one a psychiatrist, one a barman and another a drug dealer/maker. They have grown up together. I'm not sure what Luca does. Tyler is their boss? From the start Elizabeth and Carson's story is intriguing. Homeless people are invisible in the 'normal' world. My biggest concern was the flow of the story. The FBI are out to get them (now they are the Black Angels MC) and there is a mole. Then a raid goes wrong and an FBI agent gets fired but then she gets another FBI agent fired instead? One of their 'MC' goes missing. Elizabeth is broken but having sex and telling her it's making love is okay. I love Ruddie. Then when she gets hurt its worked out that the FBI chick who is or isn't still working with them is out to get the fired FBI agent because he didn't call her back after taking her virginity and everything else is collateral damage. Are you following me yet, because I'm as confused as you are. Then while E is in hospital after being almost beaten to death by the non-FBI chick and the missing MC guy, some welfare chick appears and threatens to arrest her because as a child she was used in pornography films? And although E is supposedly about nineteen the welfare chick calls the uncle who continuously raped her and sold her off so he can come and get her? There is so much missing from this story including words in sentences that it just doesn't make sense. The only reason I gave it a 3 star is because it has the potential to be a sensational book. If it is ever rewritten I would willingly reread it.

Elizabeth is a homeless girl with some mental and emotional problems due to the abuse she has suffered. She meets Carson in a convenience store when she is seeing how much she has for something to eat and drink. He gives her twenty dollars and watches as she tries to figure out how to get what she needs and have money left so he opens a tab for her and tells her about the church that helps homeless. Carson goes about his business with his club until he starts looking for her and hears some bad things that's happened since he saw her last. He locates her just as a member of his club is beating on her. He takes her to his doctor friend to get patched up and knows that he can't leave her on her own after this. So he takes her on some of his business dealing and once Elizabeth is closer to him she wants to help him like he has her. This is when she starts telling him anything she learns about the FEDS looking into his business. When things explode around them can Elizabeth count on Carter to be there for her?

This is an emotional rollercoaster ride of a story. It starts slow but it'll draw you into the story til you don't want to put it down. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this to anyone that loves reading MC genre books.

I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.

This is the start of a new series about the Black Angels MC, be warned this book contains triggers and is not for everyone. But if you love dark and dirty romances, this is the book for you!

Carson is one of the founding members of the Black Angels MC and owns a bar and builds custom bikes in his spare time. But when he sees this sad woman in Vegas and she just looks like she needs help, he helps her out. But the more he is around her, the more he needs to be around her. He wants to figure her out and keep her safe in an unsafe and cruel world. But can Carson keep her safe or will he miss something?

Elizabeth has had a rough life, a life that has tried to kill her on several occasions, but she keeps going. When she meets Carson, she is calmed by his smell and presence. So she agrees to help him the best way she can, and she continues to do so. But when bad things happen, will she run again or stay by Carson?

This is a gripping start to the series and it draws you in and you want more and more. This is about Elizabeth and Carson and their imperfectly perfect relationship that no one gets, but everyone loves, because they are both happier together. I can't wait to read more about the other members and hear what happens next in the basement. I received an ARC of this book from the author.

OUTLAWED LUST, Black Angels MC Book 1, by author R.A. Black is a gripping new MC Series that if Book one is any indication it will be darker than most other MC storylines.
This story, which takes place in Nevada, focuses on Carson, one of the founding members of the club and a young homeless woman, Elizabeth, who escaped from the east coast after having been thrown in the river and presumed dead. Carson begins by obsessively protecting her then loving her. Elizabeth has a horrendous past having been sexually and emotionally abused since a young age by her uncle/guardian among his other deviant behaviors including child pornography. She barely functions but Carson reaches out to her and begins to try to understand her.
The core members are a diverse group of childhood friends. Besides Carson who’s passion is working on bikes and opened his own bike shop, there four others including a doctor and one who runs an underground fight club in Vegas.
This series will most definitely not be for everyone but it is gripping. Just don’t expect traditional...”and they lived happily ever after.”
I am recommending this book for your reading enjoyment and am leaving this review for your consideration. Peace.

This story had potential, but I just couldn't finish it. The heroine was so annoying and made to sound/be really stupid and helpless. I made it to 42 percent, and I just couldn't like her. And if she "licks her lips heavily" or "rolls her lips heavily" one more time, I'm going to insert myself into the book just to hand her chapstick.

Then there were times when you were in one place and suddenly the characters were someplace else. Or, something was happening in the scene, but it wasn't clear what it was despite the fact that it sounded important. Almost like the author thought you could see inside their head and would automatically know what was happening. I wanted to like this story, but I just couldn't get there. Also, did we really need details about her molestations as a child? Really don't need to see a little kid on her knees in my imagination. If there was a warning, I didn't see it.

And how is the hero even remotely attracted to someone who goes into a crouched, quivering mess that hides behind his knees?

I'm sorry, I just couldn't get into it, but kudos to the author for writing a book that so many other people loved.

Different than anything....

This is a new author to me. This book has a huge cast of characters, almost too many to keep up. It could get confusing to remember who was who & how they fit into the plot. That being said, there were several of the characters I just love, and the storyline was different, which I loved.

Carson & Elizabeth are different than any couple I have read before, their story is quite the ride. Carson is obsessed, Elizabeth is just try to survive the hell that is her life. What happens when a two broken people meet & feel something for the first time in years? Obsession, pain, action, betrayal, and revenge, that what!!

This story was different, but hard to keep up with at times. It never goes exactly the way you think, which is good, but it also feels forced sometimes, and can keep the reader a little lost at other times.

I would definitely give this author another go, I would love to find out more about the hints we got of other members stories.

to be fair to this author i must admit i haven't finished reading this book so i may change my star rating when i finally do.
the thing is, i struggled with it a lot.
i love dark and gritty romance/suspense its my go to read, but with this book it seemed unfair on the characters that life had dealt them this role. Elizabeth was mentally unstable and although this was through no fault of her own i felt Carson didn't help heal her as the book seemed to portray. the other characters gave her a nickname which i felt if Carson truly had feels of any sort for her, would have put a stop to it, Elizabeth obviously didn't understand the term used and see it as a insult which with her mental health as it was wouldn't register in her mind, but Carson wanting to help her, should have stopped it. for now I've put the book on hold and hope to go back to it at some point.

I've never read a book like this before. Elizabeth is so broken. For her story to ring true as some people's reality makes me so profoundly sad. Her inability to speak properly, constantly falling to the floor curled in a ball and always covered in filth makes it near impossible to imagine firstly that she survived years on the streets and secondly an attraction with Carson. Even if he got past all this, this poor woman is so emotionally damaged that it seems inappropriate to have any kind of relationship with her.
Aside from that, it is a tad confusing at times and others just seem entirely unlikely. This definitely isn't an MC book. Most of the guys have medical degrees and other careers. It's really just a group of highschool friends that hang out and maybe have motorcycles. Throw in some drug dealing and lets say MC.

So messed up but so satisfying.

Elizabeth has been through so much, her youth was destroyed by her Uncle after her parents died. She lived on the streets, hiding until a biker found her and kept track of her. She didn’t understand life in general and her thoughts were mixed up from her sexual trafficking abuse by her Uncle.
Carson watched over this young woman and she found him when she had information from the streets. He began to care for this woman and their love was different. At the beginning, he was trying to understand her and at the end he knew they would never have a typical love story or a typical family. However, their love was deeper and more.
At first this book confused me, but I continued and was so heartbroken for Elizabeth and thankful for Carson. I feel for Elizabeth’s lost childhood.

ONE HEART POUNDING ADVENTURE!!!
OMG! Talk about living on edge. A whirlwind of activities and events that keep you flipping page after page. One rollercoaster ride with a plethora of emotions to sort through. One amazing storyline and strong plot bring this read roaring to life beautifully. The characters were realistic with personalities and depth that drew you in. Sparks fly as suspense and intrigue ensues in epic proportions. All the drama, action packed, heart pounding, nailbiting, hard hitting thriller that brings all the pieces together for one wild ride. The scenes were so vividly detailed and descriptive that it gives the illusion you were right there in the middle of ground zero with them. Remarkable job Black , thanks for sharing this little gem with us.

This heart stopping story just took my breath away!
Carson is the Angel Elizabeth never expected. A tough sexy biker with a heart as big as the sky.
Elizabeth is homeless and living on the streets when she meets Carson. She feels safe and protected for the first time in her life. She’s experienced so much tragedy in her young life. Mental and physical abuse and torture. At the hands of her Uncle. She’s finally free. But she lives in fear. The streets are no place for a young woman.
I never cried so much reading a story. Sad and happy tears. The HEA was beautiful. Elizabeth is finally free, finally able to choose. Finally able to love and be loved
Jace gave her the power.

Seriously dark

This is not a feel good story. There is not really a HEA but a sense that justice will be done. It is a horrifying glimpse at what childhood abuse can do to a child if they survive to grow up and the struggles of a man who wants to help. Wonderful written with so many uncomfortable topics that at times I wanted to delete this book and mind bleach it from my memory. I couldn’t stop reading because I kept expecting the HEA it had to come eventually right? This book made me see more than a shallow MC book but a man who attempts to save a broken woman and how incredibly hard it is. Great writing and a really sad but great story. Best of luck reading this one with out crying and feeling like we are in a broken world.

Elizabeth, the h has been sexually brutalized to just physically abused from the age of 7 to pretty much present story since she's been attacked and saved by the H numerous times. The h develops an extremely dependent relationship with the H and appears to not have aged mentally passed the age of 10 (at the most). Though, I love the H protecting her, I truly feel like h doesn’t have the mental capacity to have a sexual relationship with anyone. She doesn’t even understand what a healthy sexual relationship means. The H tries to explain the difference between the sexual abuse she suffered and a healthy sexual relationship and she does not understand. It almost feels like he’s taking advantage of her. After you get over any of that, then its not so bad. The abrupt ending isn’t really a cliffhanger but definitely leaves you wanting to know what happened enough to piss me off.

This book very quickly had my complete attention with these engaging, complex characters, its gritty, potent story line and raw emotions. Carson and Elizabeth were amazing together and I loved the combination of heat and sweet that their attraction, chemistry and emotional connection gave off. Drama, action, suspense and an overall feeling of intensity, that keeps you on the razor's edge, as you wait to see what will happen next. This is only book one of the Black Angels series and by a completely new to me author, but this highly entertaining read left me eagerly looking forward to much more from both. This is my frank, freely posted review.

❤️🌼🔥CARSON, THE BIKER AND ELIZABETH, THE “SEWAGE MOUSE”❤️🌼🔥
I’m going to be honest....R. A. Black is a new (to me) author, and Josh Mario John is on the hot cover of this book, so I was excited to read it...❤️🌼🔥
OUTLAWED LUST had several good characters, but there were so many, and I had trouble remembering who they all were an show they fit within the story..... (except Carson and Elizabeth) ❤️🌼🔥
Carson and Elizabeth was such a different couple than what we are accustomed to.....and I loved the story, the characters and the originality....but I have to admit, I was lost and confused much of the time....❤️🌼🔥

Not for the faint of heart

But so Damn good. Please note that this is an emotional heavy book. There are a lot of events both past and present that could be TRIGGERS for many. This is not the type of book where a girl with a troubled past meets the perfect guy and is instantly better. Elizabeth had issues, deep seeded issues that are perfectly valid. If your not okay with real emotional stories, if you need an instant fix for broken people this might not be the story for you. However, if you love a story about someone who takes a beating but gets up and carries on the try this.
