This publisher's pack contains Commando & Guerrilla, the first two books in The Royal Marine Space Commando series.

Commando

A young lieutenant. A fleet of alien invaders. Will first contact be humanity’s last stand?

In his short military career, Lieutenant Warden has already battled insurgent groups, criminal gangs, and intergalactic pirates. When a distant colony sends out a distress signal, he and his fellow space commandos can't wait to transfer their consciousness and launch their clone bodies into action. But no amount of enthusiasm could've prepared Warden for humanity's first alien encounter and the ensuing bloodbath.

After his captain falls to the attack, Warden feels both pride and fear as he assumes first in command. Outmanned and outgunned, the confident commando must find a way to eliminate the aliens before they slaughter an entire human colony.

Will Warden’s troops prove they are made of tougher stuff, or have they finally met their fatal match?

Guerrilla

A ruthless invasion. An outmatched colony. A Commando's last chance offensive.

Lieutenant Warden just barely survived a relentless attack on the New Bristol colony. The Royal Marine Space Commando has orders to defend his post until support arrives. But when Lt. Warden learns of a nearby enemy base that could wipe out far more than the colony, his mission transforms from protective to suicidal…

To save countless lives, Lt. Warden must raid an unstoppable enemy and take out one of the most powerful warships in the galaxy. No pressure or anything. Avoiding huge walking tanks and technology far beyond their own, the RMSC has one chance to get this right.

Can Lt. Warden pull off the incredible, or will losing the battle cost them the war?

Commando & Guerrilla are the first two books in the Royal Marines Space Commando military sci-fi series. If you like fast-paced action, interstellar battles, and characters with nerves of steel, then you’ll love Jon and James Evans’s thrilling saga.

About the author

Jon Evans

Jon Evans was born in Portsmouth, England and has worked in a fabulously dull series of jobs, none of which constitute a career. While doing these jobs the dream was always to become a writer and there were many false starts and unfinished projects.

With his brother James, he writes military science fiction in the Royal Marine Space Commandos universe. With the launch of Fleet in April 2021, there are now six books in the main series beginning with Commando which kicks off The Deathless War. They're also (slowly!) publishing a series of short stories about Marine X a.k.a. Ten - a fan favourite character with a colourful past.

With co-author Paul Teague the brothers have the By Strength and Guile trilogy, written in the same universe and time period and dealing with a special forces mission to combat a new foe, who inconsiderately reveal themselves while The Deathless War is raging.

Thieftakers is the first book in his renaissance fantasy series that will explore the life and adventures of a group of outsiders, assigned to the least desirable Watch posting in their city. Edrin Loft has plans to revolutionise the City Watch of Kalider and must prove his methods if he's to make headway. The Thieftakers are a rough bunch of misfits, whose only role is to chase the very dregs of society, where other members of the Watch fear to go.

The Edrin Loft Mysteries will be an ongoing series of novels and novellas based in Kalider, once the capital city of what is now known as The Shattered Empire. Once the series is well underway, there will be an epic fantasy series that deals with events on the macro scale, affecting the whole Shattered Empire. Currently this series is on hiatus while Jon works on the military science fiction series, but he intends to resume it once time permits.

He now lives in Cardiff, where his surname fools people into thinking he's a local.

These two books are the best military sci-fi stories I have read in a long while. The plots are tactically, strategically, and operationally sound and the characters ring true in their roles. My favorite, of course, is Ten. Good job, Jon and James. 😉

the problems with interstellar colonisation

When we think of interstellar travel we might consider colonisation of new planets. Apart from checking for existing life there, what would happen if one of the selected worlds was wanted for colonisation by another spacefaring group.
A fun if sometimes gory account of such a case. Five stars for Marine X who odds there to save the day.

Still. On edge

Wow what a ride!!!, it was a fantastic read. Power suits rail guns and the good old knife, you need to take a good breath from the very start as there is little time while reading. Very enjoyable. Roll On the next. Good character development, not wanting to spoil it . Buy it you will not regret it.

Send in the Marines!

This is a new way for the Marines to hit the beach. I know that is for the U.S. Marines. But to have any type of Marine to just show up as a clone? Wow just really neat.

The story of deep space travel and colonialism is very cool

It's not American!

One star was purely because I come from Cardiff, another because it's not American. Yet another because I have worked with Bootnecks, and have a lot of time for them. Good story, good imagination.

RMSC Omnibus book2

I am a fan off SiFi for over 70years since the days of EEDoc Smith. And this story sparks the interest I have in believing that we are the only ones. Il continue to read with much interest.

GREAT!!

These two stories are absolutely terrific! Great cast of characters, solid story line and whoever dreamed up Ten deserves a medal.

Very pleasantly surprised to be honest. Not usually a fan of "clone" storylines but this was very well written and quite fast paced. I thoroughly enjoyed it !

Very good story with a lot of moving parts and good character development. Took a while with some of the English slang, but adjusted to it after a while.

Finished book 1 yesterday. I'm not sure what I expected, but it's definitely a bit different and very clearly written by a Brit. Its understated until it's not - but keeps me entertained whenever the dry humour pops up

The setting is interesting, if a bit light on on detail; but I'm here for the action, not the world building so that's fine by me. Going to finish book 2 before rating though, I think

Well, book two was more of the same. Except in this book, it's less about reacting to the invasion, but starting to figure out how to fight back. There's some really fun characters who just Get On With The Job in the face of terrible adversity. However, Marine X ("Ten") totally steals the show in every scene he's in. In particular, I had a good giggle at his diversion on the raid :)

This isn't a book to read with lots of thoughts about the ethics of cloning, and the diversity of characters is poor (the narrator has fun with accents, but that's about it). I finished it a couple of weeks ago and the plot is somewhat forgettable and not particularly novel. However, if you want something to entertain you whilst you drink your tea, this is a good book to try

Audio: well read, with nice accents. Would listen to this narrator again

Good beginning of a new series.

Very good book, very fast-paced a page turner. If you like Marines technology clones you will enjoy this series I am eagerly awaiting the next book. I really enjoyed marine X my most favorite character. Even the bit with the girl and the drones was excellent no spoilers I suggest people read the series

Excellent story kept my interest throughout, the on-line cloning concept was new to me but it worked very well and added a further dimension to battle tactics. The young people and their drone use was an interesting back story and whoever thought of Ten added further enjoyment to the whole thing. Overall I have now ordered volume 3 in the hope of more of the same.
