Fantasy with a twist

This is the 4th book I've read from Mr. Wheeler and I have enjoyed them all. This one grabbed me from the start and I really enjoyed the creative twist of a fantasy novel set within a historical fiction of the Revolutionary war. Ended with a cliffhanger that left me looking forward to the sequel.

Beyond satisfying!

I loved this book! I especially love America's Revolutionary Era and the story set in this period. Characters were complex and varied in their growth, the story was thrilling and captivating. Having read other books by this author, he does not disappoint in his story telling abilities. I consider this author a master storyteller and this book a masterpiece!

I didn’t expect “Threading The Rudge Eye” to be as interesting and exciting as it is. The weaving of history, magic, paranormal and sci-fi makes for a thrilling epic read. The story begins with cannon fire from British frigate upon a single sloop. The sloop carries a treasure map that the British Commander wants and the girl who carries it. But the girl has outwitted the Commander. She entrusted the map to two fellow passengers who were able to escape. The Commander’s first priority is to get that map and the girl, second are his orders to subdue at any cost the uprising of the American Revolutionaries. The British Commander is well known for his war time successes. His secret is a pair of magical stones that enable him to influence, track objects/people, and accomplish great feats of strength. He however is not the only one who carries such stones. Can the barrier of the other stones make a difference in the battles to come? There be dragons in this story! A group of dragon hunters help defend against the British troops until the war looks to be lost. They escape with the promise to take a young man as far away as possible from the battle scene. This young man will make a remarkable difference in their lives. He also carries a secret. As I read I came to believe there must be a parallel between the American Revolution/British War, the chase to find the dragons, and the Commanders quest for power. I haven’t figured it out yet, but maybe you will. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep you reading. The characters are all fantastic and have their own story to tell. The story ends on a cliffhanger. I’m looking forward to reading the next book to find out what happens.

An excellent start to the series. Well written with good fleshed out characters and plenty of action throughout. I liked the way the story unfolds and look forward to seeing what happens next. Highly recommended. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
