After being gone for ten years, Clara returned home just to make sure her father was all right. Going home brought back memories that she wanted to forget, but she didn’t plan on staying long. Everything changed with a single request from her grandfather, one that Clara couldn’t refuse. Staying longer will test Clara to discover more about her past then she knew, and also to meet up again with the one man who stirred something deep inside her…even though he was also the first to break it.
Do people really assume that the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree? The h’s mother got pregnant and married but they were very young and she was accused of being a gold digger. Frankly, it sounded like the dad wasn’t ready to settle down. Anyway, at the age of 16, the h overheard the man she liked having a conversation where a bunch of other people told lies about her. She turned around and went straight back home, and then told her dad she wanted to leave.
Ten years later, she returns and the rest of the story happens… there’s a lot of greedy women involved along with at least one guy who did the lying ten years ago. There’s jealousy too but mainly there’s a lot of manipulation and lying to break couples up.
It’s a complicated storyline but everything works out eventually. From a technical standpoint, the writing is just okay. The dialogue is very stilted, because it doesn’t seem natural. People use contractions in their speech, and these people really didn’t.
Still, I gave it four stars because the story is really interesting and entertaining.
KU read, and if you can get past the dialogue you might enjoy it.
The only thing about this story is that it needed proof reading for grammatical errors. Loved the story! I would love to see a sequel. Also to find out just what was the gift Clara had for Ryder. Lol
Perfect character development and story flow, ties the scenes smoothly and gives the public the excitement needed to hook them in to read without stopping.
