Arin and Debolina, a college love story with a happy ending, or was it a happy beginning that turned sour. After his divorce with Debolina; his college sweetheart turned wife, Arin is devastated. He finds a box hidden behind the volumes and book and in that box are letters, from the past. As he reads them he recalls the forgotten pieces of his memory, ones that might just save his marriage. What will he do? Will he go back to the hell he got out from or will he turn it into heaven.
My review in four words is- The book is beautiful! I am not much of a romance fanatic as I don’t find anything new in romance stories, but this book changed that. It’s a short read, so I am glad that I didn’t have to face overly long melodramatic moments. The story is not only short in pages but also in context. The author has concentrated on exactly that portion of a bigger story that he wishes to convey and in that short span, he has managed to make the characters understood, weaved a perfect plotline and concluded aptly. Kudos.
The story alternates between past and present. Every letter takes Arin to his past and to the circumstances that made him write it in the first place in between the past and present scenes, the author manages to squeeze the entire story perfectly. There is no villain, no protagonist. The story is incidental, it’s just that, like a piece of life laid bare for the world to know and to relate to their own life. The book is filled with metaphorical allegories which kind of reminded me of Classic literature. As Arin reads the letters, he recalls how he met Debolina, how they fell in love. He also recalls how and everything went wrong that led to his divorce. It’s as simple and practical it can get. There’s no drama, no typical Bollywood romance which is why this was such a refreshing read.

Sometimes, we lose things without knowing its significance but when we discern its significance, it is hard to get it back because time is a maniac to oscillate the moments🍂

In this book 'That Letter Box' we have a distressed protagonist Arin who receives divorce papers from his wife Debolina. Readers cannot understand what happened between Debolina and Arin and neither they can discern the past🍂

When Arin discovers his old letters which embedded in the book stack, he was exhilarated!❤ These letters were written by Arin to himself in the past, sometimes we need to preserve the memories of significant things and the our striving to earn it🍂

The letter tells about Arin's beautiful moments with Debolina in the college. The love story is not a cliche and written in an impeccable diction📜

If you are looking for a short literary fiction with extraordinary writing style, you should go for 'That Letter Box' by Aritra Dey📄📜

Book- That Letter Box
Author- Aritra Dey

"I don’t believe in soulmates, and I don’t think that you & I were destined to end up together. What I do believe is that we fell in love & that we work hard for our relationship." This is what Monica told Chandler when Phoebe had freaked him out saying she had found some other guy (Don) who she thought was Monica's soulmate.

It's definitely destiny that makes you meet different people, but then it's definitely you who has to work hard for a relationship, give your best, try to live it like it's the last day of your life. Everytime a relationship cannot be a priority or expecting a relationship to be stable all the time is absolutely unreasonable. Relationship has a deeper meaning, it's finding home in a person, no matter how hard life tries to knock down your home, you've got to try and save it, because, you know, it's your HOME !

Arin and Debolina's was a story, they met when they were least expecting to meet anyone, but it was going to end. End up in a divorce. Arin received the divorce papers and was still in a trance when he stumbled across a box of letters. And those bunch of letters took him for a ride of the memory lanes, where he met Debolina, fell in love with her and married her.

The idea behind this book is beautiful. I personally believe in what happened and how it happened. There were times when things were falling apart for me and guess what ? I wrote letters and decided that I have got to hold on to this, because this is priceless, this is my HOME.

The narration travlled from past to present and back to past, but the writing was smooth that there wasn't even a bit of confusion. This isn't some cheesy love story. This is a part of Arin and Debolina's life, left for us to read and learn, may be try to work things over or simply be content with what we chose.

"...It was life that laid the obstacles in front of them.... And yet, the unlikely pair had evaded the blocks and stood passionately at the milestone called marriage...."

❤That Letter Box By Aritra Dey❤
Arin Chatterjee is 30 and divorced. Homeless and driven sick by a job he hates, he comes across a box of letters, rusty and locked. .
🌼Definitely, I am not into romance but this was something very different than the usual romance. Arin is person who has broken marriage, no happy job and no happy house. He is living for the sake of living. But, one day he founds a box full of letters and while reading each one of them he revisits the memory lane and realises life can be beautiful once again, well he is separated from his love Debolina with whom he fell in love during his college days and even this is the real reason of his shattered life.
.
After reabsorption of each and every letter he takes a decision which will change his life. The book has a good cover but definitely it can be much more better. It follows unique storyline in forms for letters but the author keeps changing it into past and into present at times and definitely I love this sort of narration, the language is extremely simple and the narration too is good, though not very great. The best part was the ending which will make you feel that it is a worthy read and it's definitely is. The author has not stretched things unnecessarily and it was a short and a beautiful read. Definitely recommended.

Arin who has accomplished almost everything in his life, was best during his college years but still there is something that is missing. The story actually starts as he receives divorce papers. A strange start to a story I have read so far! Debolina his beloved was with him since their college time only. Readers will not be able to find the reason of those divorce papers if they don't read the letters mentioned in this book carefully. The letters are written by Arin and they aren't cliched at all.

This book is a proper literary fiction that literature lovers can't miss out on reading. While reading this book, there will be some letters that will make your heart ache while some will bring a smile around the corner of your lips.

The book is really short and can be finished in one sitting only if you are a regular reader [ you know it ] and the book will provoke you to ask few questions about memories, love and loss, something we humans often take for granted.

I will definitely recommend this book to everyone who loves literary fiction and also loves to read and write letters.

'That letter box' is an amazing piece of fiction which actually revolves around the character 'Arin' who is divorced and was going through a tormented phase, suddenly encounters a box of letters, rusty and locked. And the story continues with it's philosophical as well as a realistic tone and on it's way it reveals the suspense of what actually strikes him (Arin) and his life afterwards.

The plot is undoubtedly well organized and the language used is quite impressive. It's lucid, and is different in it's way of expression. People who loves reading could actually relate to a lot of things while reading the book. Some places are amazingly designed with art and passion and it's an overwhelming experience to read 'That letter box'.

I really loved the style used by the author. A present-past dual narrative is really interesting. I dont read romantic stuff, but this one is quite different. Short and crisp without unnecessary elongations. Kudos!!
