Updated with six more interviews and a new introduction, the expanded edition of We Owe You Nothing brings the definitive book of conversations with the underground’s greatest minds up to 2007. New interviews include talks with bands like The Gossip and Maritime, a conversation with punk legend Bob Mould, and more . . . in addition to the classic interviews from the original 2001 Ian MacKaye, Jello Biafra, Thurston Moore, Noam Chomsky, Kathleen Hanna, Black Flag, Sleater-Kinney, Steve Albini, Frank Kozik, Art Chantry, and others.
Daniel Sinker has been the editor and publisher of Punk Planet magazine for twelve years.
This book has many interesting interviews. I read it from cover to cover, it took me about 8 months. Some of the interviews were a real pleasure to read, and I will probably return to them in future. Most of the interviews are conversational and go into details. The interviewers vary and so does the style. Whether or not they will be interesting will probably depend on the reader's knowledge and interests. I found many of them interesting even when I didn't have any pre-existing knowledge of the people being interviewed. It doesn't really flow like a book, it isn't a page turner, which may be why it took me a long time to read it.
Didn't finish the whole of it as it did not serve me anymore lol. But absolutely loved it!! Didn't know how much more I needed punk in my life... Was very inspiring! With the only critique that the interviews follow the same style and questions so after reading couple of them you get bored (unless there are artists you know and want to know about more). But as a little snippet to the american punk world - a perfect read!
