Life just won’t settle down for Pepper Dunn. The Head Witch Order has arrived with one mission—secure Pepper’s powers for themselves at any cost.
The entire Craple household is on deck to save Pepper. Grandma Betty has formed her own resistance, and even though they’re groaning about it, Amelia and Cordelia jump in to assist her.
In order for Pepper to fight the Order successfully, she must tap the very depths of her power. But Pepper also needs allies.
Pepper thinks she’s found one within the Order’s very ranks. But when her ally is murdered, Pepper herself looks guilty of the crime.
There’s no denying Pepper’s got a lot on her plate—learn her magic, prove she isn’t the killer and oh yes, finally give Axel an answer to his proposal.
The last should be the easiest one, but Rufus Mayes is in town to help and Pepper’s tangled feelings about Rufus often get in her way.
But there’s no time for confusion—if Pepper wants to be free of the Order, she must magically defeat the witch in charge.
Yet she must also uncover a killer. Can Pepper do it all? Face down the Order and solve a murder without getting herself killed in the process? Will she survive long enough to give Axel an answer? Can she finally put the lingering tension between her and Rufus to rest?
And most importantly, will Betty’s resistance cripple the Order’s ranks or cause more trouble for Pepper and the gang?
Hey, I’m Amy, I write books for folks who crave laugh-out-loud paranormal mysteries. I help bring humor into readers’ lives. I’ve got a Pharm D in pharmacy, a BA in Creative Writing and a Masters in Life. And when I’m not writing or chasing around two small children (one of which is four going on thirteen), I can be found antique shopping for a great deal, getting my roots touched up (because that’s an every four week job) and figuring out when I can get back to Disney World. If you’re dying to know more about my wacky life, here are three things you don’t know about me. —In college I spent a semester at Marvel Comics working in the X-Men office. —I worked at Carnegie Hall. —I grew up in a barbecue restaurant—literally. My parents owned one. If you want to reach out to me—and I love to hear from readers—you can email me at amyboylesauthor@gmail.com. Happy reading!
It took twelve installments, but Pepper has finally decided to grow up! The characters are well-drawn and interact believably, the murder mystery is interesting and full of twists, and the climactic battle and its aftermath reveals a few surprises. The biggest revelation is Pepper's realization of who had always been her biggest obstacle! Now, if the author will just keep the growth ongoing...
Well once again in my history of reading long series, I have eaten my own words. I know the last Sweet Tea Witch Installation I was pretty adamant about not reading the series anymore. Like usually big mouth me vented out how I was unhappy there weren’t any more box sets available in this series. I guess because it’s a 20+ book series I was hoping for more box sets. But, as time went on and I read many books in between my last Sweet Tea Witch novel I really started to miss Magnolia Cove. It’s really incredible how quick I went back to this series and I’m never embarrassed to admit I was wrong. Even though there are no more box sets out, this series is an absolute gem and you fall so deeply in love with character you must come back for more! In this book Pepper Dunn is faced with Lacy the Head of The Head Witch Council. Now Lacy is no walk in the park and it seems like she’s leaving bodies in her wake. She even turns Hugo against Pepper which in my opinion was so incredibly sad. This book Rufus really Stella up to the plate in every way possible. And I have a funny feeling we won’t be seeing him for a long time. Him and Pepper finally come to terms with where their friendship truly is. Pepper and Axel take things to the next level of commitment (finally). I think for the first time we also may actually see Amelia find love! This was such a fun book to jump back into and no worries I purchased the next four books so it looks like I’ll be sticking around in Magnolia Cove for a while.
Honestly, I actually enjoyed this book more than the others because it was less focused on the actual murder and more of the mystery and stuff surrounding it. I think the addition of Lacey and the head witch order also finally forced Pepper to learn some magic (FINALLY). So yeah, it took 12 books, but Pepper has finally decided to stop (mostly) whining about magic and not being good at it and how she always has to do allll of thesee thinggggssss! Also I know that her and Rufus will never work out but honestly i don't think Pepper and Axel should get engaged. He's too weird and alpha male (and he has an "excuse" because 'it's his nature!').
This is a very dark episode in the series. A group of witches called the Head Witch Order plan to steal Pepper's powers to use, supposedly, in their fight against werewolves. The group is no better than the Nazi Gestapo as they plan to take her powers however they could, they put the entire town under curfew, they have witches and warlocks patrolling the town and they even arrest a person for speaking out against them.
It even gets to the point where they are willing to let the entire town starve unless they get their way. Things get muddled when one of the three main Order witches is murdered and Pepper is accused of being the murderer.
They even take Hugo away from Pepper and try to turn him to their side. Rufus plays an important part while Azel is off trying to defuse the witch/werewolf confrontation that had happened. A whole lot of things happen but it all boils down to a Wild West type showdown between the leader of the invaders and Pepper.
The question is whether or not Pepper will be able to grow in her magical abilities almost overnight or whether she will end up losing her powers and maybe even her life to the enemy.
A good read. A great plot but I am still left wondering if he's the right partner for her. Mind you I don't think Rufus is either. Loved the characters especially the resourceful Stevie (a guinea pig spy) and the way Amelia might now have met her match. The warning from Rufus that the Order of Head Witches is on it's way throws everyone into a panic. She can either help them or they will leave her a vegetable after they take her powers. Helping them however would lead to her having to kill on their command. Refusing leads to a town on lock down, rationing of food, a duel to be held later, a dead witch and her and Gran's arrest. Now Axel has gone to see if he can create a peace between werewolves and witches and she has a few days to learn how to use her power. A guinea pig spy, stolen wands and a dastardly plan. Can she win against the leader of the order! Who is the killer?
This is an entertaining supernatural cozy mystery series. A fun cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Pepper done is a witch in a small supernatural town. She owns and runs the local familiar shop. Her grandmother is a behind-the-scenes backbone of a town and one of the town matriarchs. Her family has been there for generations and pepper lives with her grandmother and two of her cousins. Coopers mother died when she was very young. So she never got to know her mother. She grew up in the human world raised by her father a human and did not even find out she was a witch until she was in her 20s. Now there is an outside group trying to recruit pepper into their organization and they’re not taking no for an answer. They may attempt to destroy the town in the process to get her period redone and see what happens and follow the adventures and enjoy.
A wonderful story, filled with mystery we’ve all come to love
Wow. This book had definitely the most twists of all the series yet. A wonderful continuation of the Pepper Dunn series. Also spoilers ahead.
Pepper Dunn, once again, manages to save the whole town. At this point, she should probably be mayor. But on a serious note, a little disappointment about Rufus. We all knew they wouldn’t end up together but to make him move on that fast... too much. If he really loved her like we were led to believe, he wouldn’t be eyeing her cousin that soon after. It feels like the author wanted to neatly pack him away. That seems unfair to his character. Let him struggle and let the relationship between him and her cousin simmer. Why hint at it so early?? Other than that, I loved the story and am happy to continue reading.
"Southern Wands" is book twelve in the "Sweet Tea Witches Mysteries" series by Amy Boyles. I like that Pepper is having to practice her magic more and more as the series goes on. The scene towards the beginning where she pretends to be someone else and then that person shows up had me chuckling. I love the closeness of her with her grandma, Betty, and her cousins. Amy has really done a great job writing this series and keeping my attention. I have wanted to move on to the next book after each book I have read. I like getting more and more about the characters and the world they are living in.
Pepper and the sweet tea witches are in trouble and this time no one else can save Pepper but herself! The Head Witch Order has come for her and they won't take no for answer. Pepper and company have to work extra hard if she's to survive. I love how the family works together even though her grandmother is crazy and her cousins are half genie! Add in Axel, who is half wizard, half werewolf, Rufus who is trying to be good instead of evil, and a baby dragon for a familiar, for fantastic fun!
Love the series but it's getting a bit stale with nothing much changed from the first book. I'm looking forward to the cousins getting more time in the story. It is fantasy, so I enjoy the outrageous things that the family does. I actually find myself laughing out loud occasionally because something is so absolutely absurd or ridiculous. If you enjoy a bit of comedy with a rude, pipe-smoking grandmother, , a bunch of talking animals, including a snarky cat, sit back and enjoy.
Looks can often be deceiving so yes, looking with the naivete of feelings instead of logic and caution, can often fool one into a comfort that is actually an unrealistic assumption of the way things truly are. Pepper, Axel, Rufus, and the rest of the gang came to realize these truths and help them solve the mystery of The Order and Bee's murder. Find out how in book 12. Most enjoyable read! Whole heartedly recommend this book and the series. Reading them in order will be most helpful, but not a game changer if you can't. 😍
Well, Pepper’s procrastination has caught up with her in a huge way! I won’t give spoilers but I will say that this one brings everything into focus. Pepper and the crew are so far behind playing catch-up and dealing with Uber bullies that reading this book is like watching those jugglers with the spinning plates on the sticks, yep, watching close to see what breaks first.
This is action packed with angst and emotional stress galore and very family friendly. Definitely added to my collection.
I have read numerous books by you but for me the best is pepper Dunn her character, her quirkiness. She comes across as shy and quite but now realises how strong and capable she is, the stories have kept on coming each wrote with different story lines that has showed her growth, her extended family are fantastic especially betty she,s crazy and quirky and you can't help but love her, glad this isn't the end
I love the Sweet Tea Witches. I am always ready to read the next book in the series. Amy is not writing them fast enough😁. This book was awesome. I read it in one day. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. I know Axel and Pepper have been in tight situations in the past but fighting this set of witches intense. I will be ready this book again. Thank you Amy for doing such a great job with this series. Bring more on.
I really enjoyed the story and it was great seeing Pepper come into her powers while trying to solve a mysterious death and defeat the witches who want her to join their ranks, or they will take her power for themselves. I especially enjoy the ending between Pepper and Axel. I do recommend this book, recommend the entire series. I can't wait for the next book to come out.
discovered this author through kindle unlimited recommendations and have not been disappointed. This series is fantastic! The characters are complex, relatable, and a bit zany. The plot is interesting and will keep you turning pages. The romance and side stories add to the overall series. Definitely recommend this series, if you love paranormal cozy mysteries you'll love this series!
In this book by Amy Boyles, the head if the witch order wants Pepper's powers. She closes the town and threatens to starve everyone until Pepper joins her. Axel goes to try to calm relations between werewolves and witches to stop the order from taking Pepper. I loved how Betty found Lacy's fears and used them against her. I live this series and can't wait to read the rest of the series.
This series just gets better and better. The Order wants Pepper and will do anything to get her and her power. I love Pepper and in this book she has to find her powers or succumb to the Order who is holding Magnolia Cove hostage.
I love the characters in this book including Pepper, Axel, Rufux, Betty and Pepper's cousins. I loved this story line of intrigue and deception. Who can you trust and who is a spy? I literally couldn't put this book down.
A change from the normal murder mystery in this one when the Head Witch Order comes to Magnolia Cove and wants to take away Pepper's powers if she doesn't work for them. I wasn't expecting to enjoy this one as much as I did, but with the hilarious banter and imaginative events, I was hooked. I really enjoyed the ending and the reveals that came with it. I saw them coming, but still really liked the way it happened. These quick, fun reads are always time well spent.
I have enjoyed the different books, and hated having to wait for the next book to come out. Even though I knew what each book was leading up to it is fun to see how you made its so worth while at the end. The love, magic and the way the members of her family helped things work out.
I loved this book, even though I started near the end of the series this makes me want to go back to the beginning of the series and read the rest of the series to the point of this book and get the rest of the back story on pepper and the characters in the story line from the start of the series.
Southern Wands (Sweet Tea Witch Mysteries book 12 by Amy Boyles
This was another winner. I highly recommend all her books and different series to all who love a great paranormal mystery. She writes wonderful characters and great storylines in every book. I so enjoyed her books I have read a boo in 2 days or sometimes 3 days. You won't want to stop reading them. Diana Romano
This book further expands the world with the inclusion of a Head Witch Order, led by the nefarious Lacy.
While there is fun Pepper and Axel time, this book gives us a chance to become more acquainted with Rufus and finally get to the truth of Pepper's feelings.
Overall a solid story that had me guessing. One of the top books in the series.
Another amazing story! I absolutely love this series. I can't stop once I start. I get completely immersed in the stories, characters, the magic and all of the good feels. Every one of the novels captures you and you can't wait to see what happens next. I've had plenty of really late night because I couldn't out the book down. I highly recommend.
Such a happy ending! The whole book was intense, so much going on, and there was a twist I didn't see coming. Excellent!! I highly recommend Ms. Boyles books. You will fall in love with all the characters!
This was a great addition to the Sweet Tea Witches storyline. There was mystery and twists right to the end. As always the conversations were natural and the story moved at a good pace . Can't wait for the next one!
Pepper Dunn is in for the fight of her life and her magic. And she can't even use her magic properly yet. The town is held hostage and a flood of Guinea pigs is the only solution.
The best entertainment I've read in a long time...happy reading!
This series is a definite winner and this book was the making of Pepper Dunn! I really enjoyed this and think it’s the best in the series, so far. The mystery, action, story and romance were perfect!
