Danish/British writer, presenter, comedian, actress and producer on British radio and television. She currently presents The News Quiz on BBC Radio 4 and 1001 Things You Should Know on Channel 4. In October 2012 she succeeded Sheila Hancock as Chancellor of the University of Portsmouth.

An incredibly endearing little book for children between 7-10 about the fun that can be had when you discover a little viking girl who got lost sailing the seas. As well as being very fun to read with some great humour for adults and children alike it of course has some in-built moral lessons about how nasty people aren't always nasty and can be nice and how to be brave and clever. There are some very sweet illustrations in the book which enhance the story whilst reading and I particularly loved the way Amber teaches the children and reader things through a variety of clever stories with a scandinavian twist and edge. For fans of How to Train Your Dragon or building young readers up to such a title this book will do nicely. A brilliant and new tale for bedtime.

Read this in mind for using with a Year 3 class for our topic Vikings.
I enjoyed the book. The characters were funny and believable.
I liked the tales Amber told the Lloyd children and the 'morals' they learnt from them.
I see this book as a Guided Reading book rather than a in depth literacy book - as I found that it didn't have enough information about Vikings for me.

Read as using for class reading linked to our English and history topics. Short and sweet book, with comedic value.
