What happens when you fall in love with an addict? Tough and street-smart nurse, Rebecca Diaz, has been through a lot in her life. Raised by an alcoholic father and an enabling mother, she has seen the worst of addiction up close and personal. The only reason she agrees to become a sober companion is because the money is ridiculous and an answer to all her prayers. Liam Connors is rich and famous and the one thing he’s sure of is he doesn’t need a sober companion. He likes to party – who doesn’t – but he’s not out of control for Pete’s sake. Still, he can handle a few weeks with a babysitter if it makes everyone happy. It’s only when things take a dramatic turn and Rebecca and Liam are forced to fight for their very survival that they begin to see themselves and one another differently. Liam finally understands he must face down his demons if he ever wants to become sober. And Rebecca, who has always vowed she’d never follow in her mother’s footsteps, now finds herself drawn to Liam. Is loving Liam worth the risk or is Rebecca destined to repeat the mistakes of her past?
Marion Myles hasn't always been a writer. She spent the first few decades of her life as a professional equestrian and travelled across North America training and competing at horse shows.
Aside from horses, she has had an enduring love affair with the written word. Her reading interests run the gamut from mystery to fantasy to woman's fiction and even young adult. But when it comes right down to it, her heart definitely lies in the romance section.
When not riding or writing, she devotes any spare moments to battling a debilitating addiction to Smarties and stalking her favourite authors on the internet. She's proud to say there are currently no restraining orders filed against her.
Marion lives in Southwestern Ontario with her beloved dachshund and her husband - also very much beloved!
I read the bad review and agree somewhat with the never ending survival pages and I hated that AA wasn't part of the plan. But. Addiction is hell. Rockstar millions gave him different sort of ease at being addicted but it was portrayed brutually awful as even a skid row junkie but such a waste as he had talent.
I didn't like the end so much but at least there was help and physical healing. It was millionaire rehab. It's still a tough life and not necessarily romantic, that's for sure.
Crashing into Liam is an emotional, gripping and heartwarming story. It has a rich plot; a combination of classical themes, all of them narrated with a very personal and original style. While the storyline is glamorous at the beginning and highly dramatic towards the end of the book, Ms. Myles uses relatively detached and analytical prose, avoiding excessive theatricals and giving a realistic feeling to the entire story. There are, indeed, plenty of beautiful poetical and scenic interludes; instead of being in contrast with the overall tone of the book, they enrich and enlighten the narration. The two protagonists are vivid and multi-faceted characters. Rebecca has a strong, brave and caring personality. Intelligent and mature, she is not intimidated by her movie/rockstar ward. Using a measured but uncompromising approach, she sees through the contradictions of his life and the hypocrisy of his entourage, without condemning anyone but rather winning their support and respect. Liam is, quoting Rebecca’s words, a man with “the heart of a lion, and the soul of a poet.” He is, however, a lost individual, spoiled by his success and weakened by the appeasement of the people around him. When unexpected circumstances, and Rebecca’s influence, finally convince him to change, he embarks on an emotional, heartfelt and moving journey to redemption, The tale of his rebirth is sweet and captivating, whit plenty of struggles and uncertainties. Rebecca supports him with her courage, strength and steely resolve leaving him no space for shortcuts or lies. Most of all, Crashing into Liam is a beautiful book, that glues the readers to the page and gives them the precious gift of a story and a cast of characters that will inspire them for a long time. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book. Opinions and comments are solely my own
This book was all over the place - We have the Rockstar/Movie Star Liam - entitled jerk with an addiction problem enabled by his manager who is worried he will get kicked off a movie set dragging him back to LA from NY after said addict goes missing and on a binge. Rebecca. Physicians Assistant, just finished with her Mom's funeral has no time for addicts since she grew up with one in her useless father happens to be on the same flight when there is an urgent call for a Dr on board, what happens next is Rebecca basically being bullied into becoming a Sober Coach to Liam. Liam is impossible, Rebecca has good intentions but anyone who has been around addicts sees this book as a farce, while Rebecca says all the right things - Liam needs Professional help and yes he is 3 time rehab dropout and after 3 brushes with death, having his model girlfriend OD in his bed and have to survive a plane crash with Rebecca in the wilderness of Washington State for 3 weeks wasn't enough to get him sober. But buying an island and living with Rebecca for a year is going to cure him as long as they are isolated and away from his bad influences ? Sorry I am not buying it. While I enjoyed some aspects of the writing, I thought the survival scenes went on too long where the focus on Liam getting better, told in a time jump, missed an opportunity to convince me he would truly focus on his sobriety.

This book keeps you on a rollercoaster ride. The hard times and the times Liam and Rebecca worked together to survive. Wasn’t sure what the out come would be . But by the end of the books. You’re crying happy tears and not wanting this book to end. Thank you Ms Myles for all your books. I can’t stop reading them.
I enjoyed the story line, it focuses on a Hollywood star that’s a drug addicted. He has a woman that loves him, but refuses to go to rehab. They’re a mystery of an airplane crash and survival for both individuals.
