This book the autobiography of the legendary Singer, Musician, Actor, one of Father Figure of the Indian Radio, Calcutta Radio - Punkuj Kumar Mallick.
One of the tallest singers of RabindraSangeet, he gave music to a few of Tagore's songs and gave music to the tallest programme of the Kolkata radio, Mahisasurmardini, which still runs on the Mahalaya day - the recorded version.
The books give glimpses of the times of the early 1920's till the 1970's. The singers life, his struggles, his relationship with illustrious contemporaries like KL Saigal, Raichand Boral, SD Burman, Pramathese Barua, Nitin Bose, Banikumar, Birendra Krishna Bhadra and others.
Notably mentioned are Dr. BC Roy, the first CM of West Bengal.
He recorded the marching song and the anthem of INA which recorded and Netaji's family members were included in the ranks.
Another anecdote, Punkuj Mallick used to keep nicknames of people and he called another legendary rabindrasangeet singer Debabrata Biswas by the name of Samrat. This is amusing considering Debabrata Biswas was another celebrity singer who had an unique aura and an impeccable sense of humor and a few years junior to Mullick in age.
