I know the truth now. I know who I am—what I am. Now, it’s not just me that needs protection. It’s all my people. But I can’t stay in this bubble of safety. I have to fight. It’s my job—my duty as their leader. I never thought they would be my biggest opposers. How do I convince them that we’re not dangerous?
Hybrid is the third and FINAL book in the Shifter Academy Series, an RH series. Book 1: Different Book 2: Monster Book 3: Hybrid
I'm Scarlett Haven. I write YA and NA books and I write a lot. My books are a fun mixture of romance, mystery, and now some paranormal too!
Besides writing, I also love to read anything I can get my hands on and I'm always drawn to the villain of the story. I am 29 years old and am married to the love of my life.
Perfect ending for a perfect series. A few errors in the book, book nothing major.loved how everything turned out . Hated that a grandfather could do what he did,but it happens. I’m glad she told her family, saved the fae . She will make a great queen. Loved it
So this is my first Scarlett Haven novel. I’ve had the Zara Chronicles on my tbr for awhile because I enjoy slowburn and ya novels, but seeing that this was completed I decided to pick it up first.
I read the whole trilogy over the weekend so this is based off of all three books. I think these books could have been pretty good. The story line while not the most original was still fairly intriguing. I just had a bit of an issue with the writing. It seemed fairly juvenile? I think might be the word I’m looking for.
These books to me at least almost read more as a detailed outline. A lot of telling, not showing, short choppy sentences and not much description. I’m one of those readers who has a movie playing in their head as they read and it was very hard to stay engaged because of the lack of descriptors. It was all very two dimensional but since the books were fairly short I did end up finishing them all. I’ll probably give one of her other series a shot as I’m not sure if these are maybe just earlier works and it is a niche I really enjoy.
At the end of book two, you finally figure out what the other half of Penelope is. Penelope, her four mates, and Alpha Muriato go to Sri Lanka and walk through a force field into a jungle area. Once inside, the community goes into life and Penelope is greeted as her new role in the community, a huge deal might I add.
Also, the Shifter Academy gains new students and a new teacher covering a specific type of history. You also get to see Penelope train more and gain control of her powers (like causing earthquakes). I really found her growing as a person, growing as a shifter, and growing to lead the new community. She really builds her relationship with her four mates and you finally know why she has four mates (it has to do with the half of her that is not dormant, but in control).
I don't think the ending could have been better and I believe the author ending it exactly where it needed to be ended. I hope that Scarlett decides to write more about Penelope maybe after she's had a child (ren) and you can see her evolve as a parent, wife, and Aunt to her niece. I also think there is a story to be explored between her mates and her siblings more. I'd love to see how her big brother reacts to his sister having four mates while he's been away at college.
I tend to enjoy this author when I need an easy/fluffy story for a brain break.
I wish I had realized when I first started reading this author that her books tend to take place in the same universe and that this series started it all. It would have been nice to read this series first instead of last. I kind of want to quickly skim the series I already read to to see the mentions of these characters, because they were definitely mentioned.
I do like authors who integrate characters from one series into another. I like characters, and it's always nice to see those little cameos from the authors who manage it!
This series is what I needed: easy, fluffy, and a brain break. There are definitely some editing issues. (Where can I sign up to edit books for authors for a tiny fee? I'm already reading them, so I may as well help out and make some coffee money!) : )
This series has a reverse harem, insta-love, obvious bad guys, and a slightly predictable ending (although I didn't suspect what would happen to the MC right before the ending!) If you hate any of those things, then these books aren't for you. They don't bother me when I want a happy book and not one that is going to drag my emotions through the mud. I read this type of book AFTER that other kind. lol
I am going to miss this series, even though I know that Scarlett will be entertaining me more with new stories. I always get invested into her characters and the worlds she creates. Shifter Academy is a great series featuring around Penelope. It has been fun watching her grow as a character, her love for her family and her guys.
In Hybrid, Penelope is being trained on how to deal with her powers. It is definitely worth it to read her journey as she grows into who she was meant to be. Well done, and I can't wait to see what comes next.
I really enjoyed this story, and this series. It ends so well, although a future novella touching on their life after would be great. I love how confident Penelope becomes and how she handles the mantle of her future, how supportive her mates are. I'm sorry to see the series and, although maybe we'll see more of them at a later time, in the dragon academy series or a hopeful novella someday.
The premise of this book is interesting but the characters are not well developed. The heroine shall we call her is a bit to accepting of the we did things that start happening in book one and she blithely continue yes to accept things very much at face value. Her character is rather shallow developed. I would have liked to see more depth to all the main characters.
This series had so much potential. You never knew who the bad guy was or if a war was going to break out, but then the plot just died and everything magically fixed itself while the main character was passed out. I was looking forward to a fight where she could really show off her power but it never came. Plus no matter how much her mates told her how much they loved her she was so insecure, like too insecure. It was a nice quick read, but the ending was a huge let down.
This book was the perfect ending to the trilogy. The pacing worked really well. Penelope was able to establish her place in the supernatural world, and develop her relationships with her mates and family. Unanswered questions from before were answered. I really enjoyed Scarlett Haven's first paranormal series.
I love everything about this series ! Scarlett Haven hasn't written a bad story yet . I enjoyed Penelope's growth and acceptance of everything thrown at her , her steadfast love for her adopted family and her new blood family . Her guys were worthy of her love . As always.. fabulous work Scarlett Haven !!
I want to say first of all slow burn novels are not usually my thing, but this series became it my thing! I love the way the heroine and her guts evolved in their relationships and I also loved the fact that I did not have to wait very long to find out how it all ended. Thank you for that... I am now a loyal reader!
It was a very good story easy to follow but there was alot of words in the wrong places, and you had to find the right word that fit to know what was ment to be there, there are only 4 sex scenes in the whole story and that is in the last book. Other than that I loved the story.
I Love Penelope! She is...real. Honestly, if I was to sum this series... Too quick. It moved at a good place, was really fun, but honestly Penelope deserves more...where does she go from here...How do the fae do in integration to supernatural society...soooany other questions I beg answers to from this progressive author. Mz. Scarlett?
I couldn’t think of a better way to end such a beautiful story! Penelope is a strong, beautiful lead character and she makes the other characters a rounder stronger. Once again, Scarlett has told an amazing story!
Loved this series! I thought the relationships between Penelope and the guys was adorable . Especially love her meeting her dad. He is awesome! Looking forward to more series!
Loved the ending to this wonderful series! Penelope grew into her role as fairy princess and brought the different species together again. She overcame huge obstacles and channeled her inner badass to get things done!
This series has been amazing. This book brought the series to an amazing end. Lots of action throughout to make an epic read. Not wanting to give anything away but you definitely will not be disappointed with this book. 100% recommend
This was really good. I’ll miss Penelope and her guys but this ended really nicely so I’m happy. I love all of Scarlett Havens books she’s really an amazing author. Thank you for all your hard work.
Exciting action, magic, intrigue, and romance create an entertaining series. The characters are endearing or hateful, and the magical elements are spice to it all. Enjoy!
I enjoyed this trilogy, it doesn't end with a woman having babies of which is common in romance novels. Strong fierce woman with natural insecurities. A lovely read.
Perfect ending to the set. Everything was wrapped up really well and all of the loose ends were addressed. I loved seeing the growth of the characters and thought the ending was written so amazingly! I can’t imagine any other way for the set to end!
Love how this series came together and really wish this wasn't the end. Penelope and her mates have to try saving the fae and bring the supernatural race together can they stop a war from happening check it out to find out lol. Loved this series
What an ending, it's just everything you wanted in a triolgy. It really all came together in the end. I really loved how Penelope didn't change even after she found out what she was and stayed just as wonderful as she was in the beginning.
Way too many loose ends in this book, it's all nice and tidy in the end but there was literally nothing to wrap up. I kept expecting some sort of action... sadly it was a dud
I’m totally gonna miss these characters. Worst grandparent of the year award goes to Robert Westwood. What a douche canoe. Seriously he’s horrible. I can’t believe Nobody saw his wickedness.
I really enjoyed the series and all the characters. The story itself was great, it this last book just felt a little anticlimactic. Wish it would have had a five or twenty year epilogue or something.
This was a great trilogy that told the journey of a young woman finding her own place in a new world where she learned strength and compassion. She found some great mates too that truly showed her how far one can go with a loving family on their side.
It started so great, and while I know it is fast paced and how the teo previous books has summed up their dramas, I felt kind of robbed of a real ending here. I wish it was longer, both the book and the ending, because I really think it could have been great.
