When I finally broke free, he was there for me—body, mind, and soul.

Staying with someone who is supposed to love you, but instead hurts you, takes its toll. I faced betrayal, but I fought my way out, and now I just want to forget.

We all have our stories, but thankfully that one ended, but not without complications. This is my story, and I am writing it from now on.

Is he the one to help me believe in love again, or is the broken, jagged road from my past making it too hard to move on, let alone find love?

A Protector's Touch is a steamy college romance story of survival and of finding love and one's self again.

Ms. Sinclair is a local writer and Amazon best-selling fantasy author with books crossing into YA epic fantasy, NA Urban fantasy, paranormal romance, mystery, suspense, and Sci-fi genres.

Parker gives credit to the development of her imagination and passion for writing to multiple childhood destinations lacking indoor plumbing. It may sound odd, yet when your journey to adulthood consists of numerous backpacking, camping, and hiking trips to the most out-of-the-way and breathtakingly beautiful places in North America, the creation of games, worlds, and characters are the results. She would never trade the childhood her parents gave her, and she thanks them for raising her to have her own thoughts, dreams, and bountiful imagination. Oh and she wishes to thank them for teaching her that one should never leave their jeans on the floor of an everglades campground shower—lest they do the dance of the scorpions in the pants again!

While attending college, Ms. Sinclair studied biological sciences and psychology, specifically animal behavior, but her love has forever been to write. There are boxes in her house filled with notebooks, journals, and logs with poems, stories, lyrics, and personal rants scratched into them with pencil, marker, pen, whatever she could get her hands on. Words demanded to be thrown out of her mind and onto paper by any means necessary. Ms. Sinclair’s studies have contributed greatly to the worlds, characters, and stories she creates, proving that no matter what path you take, it will all be part of where you end up—sometimes in spectacular ways!

Since 2007, Ms. Sinclair calls Virginia Beach home where she is employed as a full-time writer, is a licensed educational counselor, and finds some of the best times to write late into the night after her kiddos, and in many cases, her husband, are fast asleep.

A Protector’s Touch is a story about a girl, April, that has just managed to escape an abusive relationship. She had managed to call it quits and is trying to move on with her life and focus on her schooling. The problem is that the man that she is drawn to, Shan, and has been her long time crush has finally caught her eye and she’s not sure if it’s a good thing or not. While she’s at therapy a secret comes out that links her and her Shan together like they never expected. As they start moving on and getting closer their pasts come back to haunt them. Are they able to weather the coming storm?

This is a very different book than other books by Parker Sinclair. It is a steamy and romantic story based in present day college town.

Parker Sinclair’s writing is fluid and I can see everything that the characters do. I found myself empathising with Shan and April and cheering for them the whole time. There is a clear line of good guy vs bad boy and there is no confusion who to root for. There are a few loops thrown in that will keep you engrossed to the very end.

I really enjoyed this book and would I definitely recommend it. It’s a great quick read especially now that spring is upon is and we could always use a great school break read!

A Protector’s touch was a informative read. It may be a hard topic for some who have experienced abusive relationships but, it may also help those too.
April thought she was weak but, she was far from it. She lived a very sheltered life and once she got to college she started dating one of the cute soccer players. He was abusive and didn’t deserve her. Thankfully, she had a great friend to help her through everything and also a support group. There was also a guy named Shan who showed April that everyone deserves a happy ending. He tried to show April she was not broken in any way. Shan knowns what it’s like to be around an abusive relationship because someone close to him that he loves dearly was in the same situation. April got off lucky considering what the other person endured. April has a team cheering her on which makes it easier take the legal route when the college doesn’t help her. This book had a bit of suspense and was totally worth it. When I was about 75% done with the book I was like wow, I cannot go to bed now....I need to know what happens!!! Great ending.
There were some great characters in the book and a few that made you want to punch someone. An overall good read!

A Protector’s Touch from Parker Sinclair truly captivates the reader from the very first chapters until that final page. I have not had a chance to read Parker Sinclair’s work prior to this but I am glad that this was my first and I got a great picture of the strong and talented writing she is capable of. I will be going back and reading her other novels as well now. This book is raw, and it deals with some difficult situations and features details of a troubled and abusive relationship.

April is reeling from a terrible relationship. The things this man did to her would make anyone feel as low as a grain of salt and you can feel that emotion, and all that accompanies it, projected from the kindle/book as you read. I felt her sadness and her desperation. The beautiful part of the story comes when she begins to see herself through the eyes of Shan. He is a man with his own dark history and they may just have more in common than originally meets the eye. Will he be able to show her that she can love and be loved right? Prepare yourself to read this in one fell swoop because this is one story that will grasp your soul and never let go. I look forward to seeing what else we will get in the future from Ms. Sinclair!

This is a tough but good book. It deals with a abusive topic. I’m sure there is an element of truth to this story. I can’t imagine what these women go through not counting their loved ones. This shows a side that deals with the event through to the legal ending. I thought the characters were very likable and true to form. Shan was a delight to read. He inspires hope that there are good guys out there. I was leery a couple times but he is a true knight. April thinks she is weak but this event actually made her stronger. I liked how pro active she was for herself. She is a star among the sky as she can inspire many girls.

It was interesting to me how the words the EX spouts at the beginning of a relationship actually mean something else by the end of a abusive relationship.

“Look at all the things I can buy you, take you to, provide for you, all in ways no one has done before”
Possible translation:
“We will always be together, even if you want to escape”

I shouldn’t say I love it but how ironic.

This was a good eye opening read. I would recommend to all women and even men. It has a nice romantic side but it is also full of suspense.

A Protector’s Touch by Parker Sinclair
My rating: 5 stars

Wow! This book is truly heartbreaking and beautiful.

I can sympathize with April, and can see why she thinks she so weak in dealing with her scumbag of an ex boyfriend. I hate that her or any woman for that matter, lives with the abuse she did. When she meets Shan, her life starts to change and for the better. He dealt with a similar situation with his mother before, and it seems that he inspires hope in April that she can take care of her ex-boyfriend through the courts, be done with this mess of a relationship and move on to a brighter future. April becomes a stronger woman able to take care of herself and stand up for herself ant that is truly inspiring. Shan is a wonderful character and shows that there are good men out there.

I highly recommend this book! I appreciate the author taking the time to showcase the world of someone living in a relationship with physical abuse and how she overcame it. I hope anyone who reads this book and is in a similar situation can find inspiration and hope.

A Protector's Touch
By: Parker Sinclair
5 out of 5 stars

The story A Protector's Touch by Parker Sinclair is a book that was very emotional to read. It pulls you in right from the beginning and I found that I didn’t want to put it down until I had finished the last page. The author has created a story that has two amazing main characters that I grew to care about with each chapter that I read. April is a young woman whose life is complicated. She is strong, intelligent and a fighter. She also finds herself with feelings towards a young man. Is he the one that will teach April to love again? Read this book to find out. While I have never experienced what April has the way that the author portrays her and how she feels about herself had me at times misty-eyed. This is a story that has both heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. There are moments that are suspenseful and had me wondering what was going to happen next. This is an author who knows how to weave a tale and create unforgettable characters. The book is one that I would recommend reading.

A Protector’s Touch is a wonderful new adult romance by Parker Sinclair. This was the first time that I had read any of this author’s work and I was very impressed by this book. This book contains violent domestic abuse and may be a trigger for some. The author has taken a very difficult subject and has done an amazing job with it.
April is in her sophomore year at college and has recently split from a very violent boyfriend who won’t accept that their relationship is over and is still harassing her. In steps Shan, whom April has secretly admired for some time, as her knight in shining armour.
The connection between Shan and April is so well written. The patience and empathy that he has for her is heart-warming. With his guidance, April slowly, but surely, starts to heal.
I adored the character of Shan. As much as April tried to push him away, he is determined to be there for her.
This story kept me gripped from the very beginning right up to the very unexpected ending. Thoroughly recommend this book.

OH MY HEART!!

This book tore at my heart and completely stressed me out because I wanted to climb through my kindle screen so many times. This made me realize that although you hear of this throughout your life you never really understand it maybe because you don't want to or literally just don't believe it can really happen.

This author who I already love took something so real and wrote it in such a beautiful way that yes there might be triggers but it was handled with such care.

Although this story tore my heart out and totally ticked me off at times I loved it and it was such a quick read. The character building was spot on and I fell hard for Shan..I mean who wouldn't? But what I loved most was April and even though someone tried so hard to break her down, her strength brought her out on the other side and her story was inspirational and I loved it!

Yes, there are some soft triggers but I think if its gone into being fully aware of this it would be ok.

Loved it!!

A Protector's Touch, was such an amazing captivating, and emotional read. April is still getting over her past and a terrible relationship. She was abused by someone she loved but she was able to get away but still carries the scars of the past with her. She meets Shan and is drawn to him. Over time she begins to see herself through his and she starts to wonder is he is the one to help her heal and show just what love really is. Shan himself has a dark past and these two are more similar then they both even know. These two are characters that I wish I could real more and more of, they both grab a hold of you and not let you go.
The author, Parker Sinclair, is not one that I have read before but I will make sure to now. The writing, the characters, and the subject matter were elegantly written and truly these character touched my soul. This has got to be one of the best book I have read in a long time. I give this book FIVE stars and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

A Protector’s Touch by Parker Sinclair

A Protectors Touch is a emotionally charged book about finding strength and moving on.I found myself teary eyed in some parts but felt proud in others. This may be a trigger for some especially if you have experienced what the MC does. I couldn’t put this down once I started reading. I had to know what happens next. April is a woman who has had a pretty sheltered life up till she went to college. She finds herself in a relationship with the wrong guy and knows she has to get out.She thinks of herself as weak but she’s a lot stronger than she realizes. The first and probably hardest step is getting out of the situation. April is working on her confidence. She has great friends who is helping her with that. Then there is Shan, he understands what she is going through . Can he help her to see that she can love again? Can he help her? Find out what happens next in the must read story.i can’t wait to read more from this Author.

A Protector’s Touch by Parker Sinclair is a new adult college romance. This book may not be for everyone as it does hint to past violence in a relationship. However, it is not graphic.

April didn’t think she’d ever be the girl that faced the issues she’s faced in her most recent relationship, like so many others. She had a pretty sheltered life growing up so she had no idea what she was getting into when she got to college. April knew however, if she didn’t get out, she wouldn’t get out. Now April is working on herself and her confidence. Will she be able to move on or will her past threaten to consume her?

This book was well written and touched on a sensitive subject in a way that doesn’t deter people from reading it. It’s inspiring to see April pull herself up and and work through her issues.

A Protector’s Touch is a wonderful empowering story of finding strength and believing that not every man is an abuser. This was my first book by Parker Sinclair and would love to read more. This book might not be liked by everyone to do the nature of the topic but I find it moving and April’s courage inspiring.

April and Shan have always looked and wanted to talk to one another but because of April’s ex, they never did. With her relationship over, Shan picked the right moment to play knight in shining armor and April’s life changed for the better. With Shan and her best friend Nia by her side, she has the strength to finally face and do something about her abuser. There is instant chemistry between Shan and April and I liked the slow burn feel between the two.

I would love to see April’s best friend get a book next.

A Protector’s Touch: A New Adult College Romance & Romantic Suspense Novel by Parker Sinclair is a book that will certainly touch on sensitive topics but is also one that will completely captivate you.
This story is a true story of overcoming your past and finding happiness. It is one of those books that pulls you in without evening trying and keeps you reading right to the very end. I instantly fell in love with these characters. There isn’t one thing specifically that I can say made me like them but everything as a whole just worked so well.
Although this isn’t the first book that I have read by this author it definitely has to be my favourite. I love how I just got lost in it. This is a book that I would highly recommend and an author I will definitely be reading more of in the imminent future.

A Protector’s Touch was a great five star read. I was pulled in right from the beginning.

We have April who has just gotten out of an abusive relationship. She is now trying to focus more on her schooling. We find that she has also has a secret crush on a school mate, Shan. When he starts to notice her, things start to get interesting.

I really liked Shan, he was good to April and tried to show he how a woman should be treated. Shan also had a dark past, one that gave him a commonality with April which made their connection even deeper. Will he be able to show April what love really is?

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. My emotions were all over the place, especially with all of the things that April went through with her ex. All of the characters were great. I was very happy with the ending it all came together very well. I look forward to reading more from this author.

A Protector’s Touch by Parker Sinclair. This is an awesome Young adult love story but it does have some sensitive topics as far as abuse. This is the story of April who has been in a really bad relationship for a long time. She finally finds a way out and she's trying to recover and move on with her life. She's trying to focus on College and her friends. She's got a great circle of friends and she's doing therapy. When she sees Shan, her crush of a long time and he seems interested in her she doesn't know if she's ready for another relationship. Shan supports her as much as he can but he has secrets from his past as well. Will April give Shan a chance since she's been hurt so bad or will Shan's past come back to haunt them. Read A Protector's Touch to find out!

A Protector's Touch: A New Adult College Romance & Romantic Suspense Novel by Parker Sinclair touched on a subject that isn't often discussed and a applaud Ms. Sinclair for taking it on and hope others will do the same.

April shouldn't have had to deal with all that she did. She is so young, only a sophomore in college which is only a year older than my daughter. To realize that she could experience that really scares me.

There are a few things I would have liked to see happen differently, however I really enjoyed the book and hope to see more by this author.

I loved this book! It may be a trigger for some who have abuse in their past. This is a well written story that has great character development. The characters are relatable and made the story feel real. April comes from a sheltered life so going to college was a new experience for her. What will happen when she dates the wrong guy? Along comes Shan who is determined to prove to her that she is worth loving. Will she let him in? What will fate have in store for them? This is a must read!

A Protector’s Touch by Parker Sinclair is a new adult/college romantic suspense. I have read other stories by this author and this was a joy to read and I liked how it stood alone from the genre/types I've previous read from Parker Sinclair. Strong and amazing characters are delivered in this story despite the limited number of pages provided. April is magnificent in this story despite the difficult struggles that have occurred. I found this story remarkable and touching and emotionally charged creating that full dynamic that is needed in these type of stories.

This book does have a trigger warning, but it doesn't go into details but does document injuries.
This takes place in college and April has just left a bad relationship. She's had her eye on Shan for awhile but wasn't able to do anything but crush from afar, until one day.
This was a really good story about strength and courage but also young love.
This was a fast but very touching read.

This story was amazing and so well told that it had me needing to know how it was going to end. Things always added up but something was just off and we found out by the end that things are never how they truly appear. Shan and April really give it the authenticity and it's why I give it 5 stars. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book as an Advanced Reader's Copy.

Are people just giving this book fie stars because of the subject matter? I'll try to write a longer review later but my initial thoughts are this: The characters felt flat, the subject matter (abusive relationships) was handled well, I don't think the romance was necessary (this could have been a short story of a young woman taking down her abusive ex and I would have liked it better).

An intensely beautifully written story that tackles a subject that is often pushed under the carpet and does not see the light of day.

April, a young woman raised in a protective family, meets Derrick when she heads to Crimson State, who appears to be the ideal boyfriend, the biggest star of the Soccerteam. First sweet and full of attention but slowly the relationship turns into an abusive one. She is not allowed to talk to others, wears clothes that have his approval, and lets go of all her hobbies so that she has more time for him. If he doesn't like something, she's his punching bag. Jealous as he is, he accuses her of cheating while he has other girlfriends himself. She tries to end the relationship several times but went back after apologizing. Not anymore after he gave her a black eye. Even though he keeps stalking her, she stands firm, doesn't return to him.
Thanks to the counseling group she is affiliated with, she manages to find the strength to act against Derrick. Also having the support of her friend Nia and the boy she is in love with, Shan.
Shan knows what it is like to watch someone else control and abuse you. His father almost killed his mother and he saved her from a burning house in time.
Even though she has fallen for Shan, she doesn't want to trigger him by letting him get too close.

The story about a young girl who stands up against the violence that is being done to her and whom the campus police does not do anything about because the perpetrator comes from an influential rich family and is a star player.
A story about a young woman who sticks her neck out to prevent other young women from having similar experiences.
A story about a young girl who values her happiness and future.

Well written. Emotionally charged. An exciting ending that you did not see coming

I rate this book 4.5 stars.

This was such an emotional novel. April is a strong and courageous young woman who decided enough was enough and walked away from her abuser. She finds a friend in Shan who becomes so much more. This story really emphasizes the support needed from friends, family and the community and that there is always hope though sometimes you have to work so much harder to find it. I thought this book was well written and really stressed how strong the heroine is even when she herself, doesn't believe she is.
