Tasting Candy

Rate this book
Lust was the lure, Candy was the reward.

Walking around with a raging hard-on isn’t Blade Vaughn’s idea of a good time. He’s hungry for sex and there’s only one woman on his menu: Candice Warner. When Blade witnesses the shy beauty go into a panic over a harmless encounter, he’s more determined than ever to prove that sex with him is just the therapy she needs.

Candice is used to being afraid of her own shadow, but when she goes all nutso in front of Blade, she’s beyond mortified. She wants him to see her as an equal, and as a woman. It’s time she got over her past trauma and started living again.

But trust is hard to come by when her only experience with men has left her heart in pieces.

Warning, this title contains the following: Hot, steamy, explicit sex. Oral sex. Sex in public places. Oh, and sex in the shower.

The 2nd installment in the Vaughn series, Tasting Candy is much better than its predecessor.

Candice "Candy" Warner is still struggling to recover - emotionally, not physically - from the rape she suffered one year ago. While she can't stand being around strange men without having a panic attack, she feels comfortable with Blade Vaughn, her personal trainer's brother. In fact, she's very attracted to him but doesn't feel ready to shed her fears.

Blade has wanted Candy since he met her, but she's usually so skittish around him that he doesn't know how to approach her. When he witnesses one of her panic attacks, he decides enough is enough and goes after her to find out what is wrong with her. After coaxing the truth out of her, he convinces her to give him a chance to prove her they can be "good together". Oh yeah, Blade's persuasion powers aren't to be easily dismissed...

I really liked both Blade and Candy, and he was right: they were "good together", LOL. My problem with this story was how fast she recovered from her trauma. Okay, she'd been struggling with it for a year when the story begun, but she was still an emotional basket. Then, after only one night of incredible sex with Blade, she became this confident and fearless woman. Yes, Blade was wonderful - inside and outside of the bedroom - but he was no miracle worker. I know this is a short story, but I'm sure the author would be able to encompass a few months in it to make the whole recovery process more believable. Anyway, I decided to not be too bothered with that because I really felt that Blade and Candy belonged together. If they were happy, I was happy too.

Vapid and chauvinistic!

I couldn't help but picture Blade as Chuck Norris or Rex from Napoleon Dynamite. O_o Even Candy described him as a total throwback. Not my type I guess because I thought he was an absurd character. Not appealing at all.

This story completely fell flat for me. There was no build-up to Blade and Candy's relationship and I couldn't sympathize with Candy's past because it wasn't taken seriously. She was supposedly terrified of all men due to her traumatic past experience, but by chapter 3 she's dry-humping Blade's nether regions before they even go out on their first date?! Then there was the whole paranormal dreams aspect...why? It didn't fit into this story at all. It felt like a random after-thought by the author.

I knew going in that this wasn't going to be a thought-provoking masterpiece, but even for 'literary junk-food' this just wasn't any good. Amirite?

From the first moment Blade Vaughn laid eyes on the shy Candice Warner at his brother's office, he knew he wanted her. Not just for one date, but for however long it would last. The only problem Blade has is finding a way to ask her out, never one to mince words it is causing him a lot of sleepless nights as he tries to figure out the best way to handle his dilemma.

Candice Warner is a survivor, but her fears have had a way of dictating her sheltered exsistence. Blade is the first man she has met that has given her second thoughts about her choices, when he steps in she is afraid she may just lose her heart.

I really enjoyed this second book of the Vaughn series. Blade is all alpha and is it a ton of fun reading his inner thoughts as he practices patience, which is a completely foreign emotion to him. A great read.

**Reread. The one thing that I took away from it the second time is how Blade is utterly lost with his feelings for Candice. You definitely see him working through feelings for her even as he stands back to let her come to the same conclusions.

This was heading for a solid 4 stars, when the heroine inexplicably had a labotamy and came out of her shrink's office with a COMPLETELY different personality. Split personalities must be air-born in this town.

I really liked the ridiculously named Blade. Ok if you are a half breed vampire hunter, but I found it distracting. Also, why-oh-why a moustache? I had to edit that out in my mind. Blade is gruff and dominating but was so sweet to Candy. He was perfect because she really needed someone who would be gentle and patient but wouldn't allow her to push him away.

Candy is an innocent 25 year old who is struggling to adjust after she was raped a year ago. Understandably she doesn't feel comfortable with men and has panic attacks in certain situations. Prior to the rape she was a virgin.

Now, I was loving the sweet but passionate relationship that these two had developed. But this took a nose dive when, after a night of nookie, she goes to her therapist who suggests that a striptease will convince Blade of her love (YOU WHAT!). Perhaps I am unqualified to comment because I don't have any medical training whatsoever, but I'm pretty sure this doctor is negligent.

Anyway, she trotts off to Blade's work place to perform said striptease...and I just had to skim whilst I rolled my eyes and cringed.

Really disappointing because up until that point I was totally on board with these two.

Eh? I was going with the flow of this until she came out of the shrink's office with a whole new personality. Not only did she switch it up but she was doing a minor strip tease and the whole nine yards. Please! Blade's cock must be made of gold. WTH! I also hated the fact that they didn't ever date or get to know one another. Blade never said two words to the girl but the one time he did, they go and have wild sex after all the abuse she had been through before? I don't like that stupidity.

Tasting Candy is the second book in the Vaughn Series and my first book by the author. In this book we have Blade Vaughn and Candice Warner.

Candice Warner was still struggling to move on and put the past behind. But because of what happened, fear was her constant companion now. She had trouble being around strangers, especially men, except for her personal trainer's brother Blade Vaughn. For the first time after she was raped, Candy was drawn to Blade. She was attracted to him and dreamed of him constantly. Blade Vaughn had been hooked the moment she met Candy. He was lusting after her, and he aches to have her. He wanted to protect her after witnessing her meltdown, and he wouldn't be able to rest until he knew what happened. Blade forced himself into her quiet life, asking questions he knew she didn't want to answer. Can Candy let Blade in? Will he be able to knock down Candy's walls, or will she push him away?

I enjoyed reading this short novella about Candy and Blade. They were perfect for each other. I loved him. Really. The blade was virile, possessive, protective, patient, and sweet, everything a man should be. He was a swoon-worthy hero. I loved the fact that even after knowing Candy's past didn't scare him away. It made him love her more deeply. He was patient with her. Candy was his weakness. I had fun reading Blade's internal struggle. Reading his thoughts, his feelings, his struggles were exciting.

And the chemistry between them was SMOKIN' HOT!!! *fanning-self* My gosh! I think it was the sexiest Dry-humping I've ever read.
It was as if they were of one mind, soaring over that invisible edge together. It was beautiful and thrilling, and Candice couldn't believe they'd never even removed their underwear. If he was lethal clothed, what would he be like unclothed?
What he like unclothed? BEAST! The man was fvcking hot! And sweet!
"I go weak when I look at you, sweetheart." He rose over her and pinned her to the bed. "You're my Achilles heel."

I really wanted to rate this book 4 stars, because I think it's my favorite in the series. Blade and Candace are my favorite characters in the series. I liked everything about their characters and relationship. I even liked the development of the plot, though it was fast to accommodate the short length of the story. My only problem, and the reason I couldn't give it another star was the way Candace seems to go from so traumatized by her past rape that she has panic attacks in public when approached by men to having sex and becoming flirtatious in such a short time. I like that she became empowered by their relationship, reclaimed her sexuality, and found peace, and maybe I'm being closed-minded about the process. I just don't see how one makes that change so quickly. I know she trusted Blade, and they move slowly the first night, but their next intimate encounter ends in sex. Once I put this inconsistency out of my mind I was able to enjoy the story, but it is a weakness in the plot that I felt I needed to address. Nevertheless, I would read this again and recommend it to friends.

I picked this up because of the traumatized heroine storyline. I might have liked it more if she hadn't leaped into bed, miraculously overcoming her trauma in like three pages. I love it when the hero slowly heals an abused heroine, and all the uncertainty and angst and protectiveness that comes with that, but this book glossed past that pretty quickly and just ended up being nonstop sex fest. Oh well.

I thought this was a good book but everything was a little rushed. Don't get me wrong the "scenes" we're hot but since she was raped he could have slowed down and loved her not release the animal on their first date and her second time at sex. I like the Vaughn series and I'm going to read "Taking Chloe" next.

Wow! I admire the way this author tackled such a sensitive topic. Blade, who's the epitome of an alpha male, showed us a sweet, sensitive side that I loved. I also enjpyed watching Candy morph into a strong, secure woman. A short, but sexy read. Once again, Anne delivers a winner!

I don't know what possessed me to read this book, but I did, and now I'm wishing I didn't. Shitty, ridiculous plot, crappy dialogue, and stupid characters, especially the female lead. I just wanted to punch her in the face. Enough said.

I did enjoy the book I just wish it was longer and the relationship developed a little bit more. The instant love between the hero and heroine happened too quickly for what the heroine went through in her past. The attraction they had for each other was hot and blade was a total sweetheart.

The book was short and sweet. Blade and Candace were good together and the story was endearing. I wanted an epilogue to better conclude the story.
