The book was well written and the illustrations and instructions were very clear. The author gave a comparison between Indian yoga practice and the practices of ancient Egypt. The similarities were logically explained and made interesting. While this book cannot be used by beginners to start the practice of yoga, it can definitely be used as a guide by people who have the basic knowledge learnt from an experienced guru.
This book describes the sadhana of Sharon Gannon which includes 10 steps / the magic ten. Furthermore, after the explanation of each of the steps, she describes a story linking yoga to Ancient Egypt and how she found this sadhana represented when she visited the country. Quite interesting sotry.
The Magic Ten: 1. Gratitude 2. Giving blessings 3. Feeding the birds 4. Asana - The Magic Ten sequence 5. Dance 6. Kriyas 7. Kapalabhati 8. Pranayama 9. Meditation 10. Relaxation
Quick and easy to incorporate daily practice and an interesting perspective may be found in this book. I definitely agree with the author’s husband that the personal experience story about Egypt in the end really tired the whole book together and made it much more enjoyable to read than a manual.
The story about the author’s experience in Egypt was very interesting. I skimmed the directions for each of the practice, but really enjoyed the connections between the practices and the ancient yoga teachings. I practice the Magic 10 asana sequence each morning and it feels great!
Perfect guide for those studying the jivamukti method, and even those who aren't but are looking for more structure to their yoga and spiritual practice
