All magic has a price. And now the balance is overdue. A witch with the power to see the future, Gina led a sheltered existence until the vampire, Darius Cole, crashed into her life, abducting her, seducing her, forging an emotional bond between them. Then circumstances tore them apart and the bond faded--until twenty one years later they are drawn together to save their daughter. While their passion is rekindled, Gina can offer Darius nothing, and she feels his bitterness and the Darkness within him, threatening to take control. Only she has the power to draw him back, but will this be the last time they make love for eternity?
Growing up in the cold, wet, north of England, Nina Croft spent a lot of time dreaming of faraway sunnier places and ponies. When she discovered both, along with a whole load of other things, could be found between the covers of a book, her life changed forever.
Later, she headed south, picked up the perfect husband along the way, and together they volunteered to work in Africa. There they discovered a love of exotic places and a dislike of 9-5 work. Afterward they spent a number of years travelling (whenever possible) intermingled with working (whenever necessary.) Eventually they stumbled upon a remote area in the mountains of southern Spain and the small almond farm they now call home.
Nina spends her days reading, writing and riding her mare, Gencianna, under the blue Spanish skies—sunshine and ponies. She reckons this is proof that dreams really can come true if you want them enough.
Nina's writing mixes romance with elements of the paranormal and science fiction If you'd like to find out about new releases then sign up for my Newsletter at: https://app.mailerlite.com/webforms/l...
Short yet amazingly satisfying. Second story in the series, it follows cross-star lovers vampire Darius and witch Gina. Witches don't trust many, let alone a cocky vampire like Darius, so they really had lots against them from the beginning. Because it's a second-chance romance there wasn't much backstory, we just get to follow them as they try to reconnect and find a happily ever after. I loved that we have a wider glance of their world but at the same time it was frustrating that it was still just a glance! I wish these stories were longer because I think their world is worth stepping into much further. As it is, I still recommend it if you're in the mood for a fast PNR read.
** I received this book at no cost to me and I volunteered to read it; this is my honest opinion and given without any influence by the author or publisher **
I liked this very short novella about supernatural creatures, it’s a fairytale for adults. The storyline is good and the characters is well written with intensity and personalities that are unique. No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and good dialogues. Love scenes is good and tasteful but steamy enough.
If you like a short story with a fairytale feel this is a good choice, 4 stars
This is the second novella in this series and I choose to use the same review for them both because that’s how I see it.
The Darkness takes place almost immediately after the events of The Prophecy and involved the parents of that book's heroine. Darius and Gina both played a part in the first book, but we see much more of them (in every sense ;) ) here. I suppose this one could be read on its own--the important events from the first book are mostly explained--but I think you'd do much better following along if you've read Raven's book first. Honestly, I'd really recommend binge reading them together--they're pretty short, so it won't take up too much of your time and I really think it would give you a much more complete experience. Even the mere week that was in between when I read them seemed too much--I felt like I spent more time getting up to speed than I would have liked (to be fair, though, I read a lot of other books in that week, which muddied the details a bit).
This book is really just Gina and Darius's story--other characters play a very minor role and have minimum page time. The secondary characters with the biggest roles are two of Gina's relatives--one because she has slightly more page time (but isn't terribly sympathetic--I'm interested to see how/if Ms. Croft can make me like her more in future books) and the other because she pretty much gets our hero and heroine to their HEA. (Like in the first book, the revelation of how to get the characters there turns out to be amazingly simple--I am almost ashamed that I needed to be told what the solution was! But so did Darius, so there's that...)
As much as I liked Darius and Gina here (and I did like them!) I would have liked to also have seen a bit more of their "before" story, since theirs is a second chance romance. With such a limited amount of pages, however, that's not really feasible--Ms. Croft does a decent job of showing how and why they didn't make it before through the characters' revelations, though, and gives us hope for the future.
Fingers crossed that we don't have to wait too long for a book 3!
(Once again, this is a re-issue of an earlier book. I didn't read that version, though, so I can't say what was different or how it compares.)
Rating: 4 stars / B

As Darius Cole is intending to drink blood from his next victim to overcome the darkness that seems to plague him daily he hears a voice that he never thought he would hear. The voice is coming from his long time love Gina. Darius knows that his feelings for Gina are wrong and could cause problems for everyone because Darius is a vampire and Gina is a witch. Still Darius can’t help himself he wants her more than ever. Gina also feels the same for Darius and knows that she shouldn’t even think of him because a life together with him is wrong. Still Gina and Darius want to spend one night with each other before they are both discovered ending in not only separation but possibly both their deaths. Will Gina and Darius be able to fight everything for their night or are they meant to spend eternity alone? This is the second installment of the Daughters of the Morrigan series so being a series it kind of has to be read in order. Even though this story is discussing the relationship of Gina and Darius, parents of Raven the heroine in the first book that has never ended despite everything. The dark book and plot twists just add to the tormented characters lives. Yes it’s quite short but manages to fit a good story with many interesting points in. Gina the resilient isolated heroine is a witch but is pretty likable. Although it felt like most of the time you’re yelling at her to not leave Darius or to try to stop the inevitable from happening. Darius on the other hand the vampire and deeply troubled dark hero just is very easy to fall for. There is much anticipation for the next book in the series and of course it is eagerly being awaited on!
3.75 stars-- THE DARKNESS is the second instalment in Nina Croft’s contemporary, adult DAUGHTERS OF THE MORRIGAN paranormal, romance series. This is vampire Darius Cole, and witch Gina’s story line. THE DARKNESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Gina and Darius) THE DARKNESS is a second chance romance between vampire Darius Cole, and witch Gina. Twenty-one years earlier Darius discovered he fathered a daughter named Raven whose birth and death were prophesized to achieve victory in a war between good and evil. To protect the child, Darius ran until he could run no more ending with his daughter missing, and our hero barely alive. Fast forward to present day wherein the darkness is about to take down our story line hero until a voice from the past brings with it too many memories, anger and pain of loss and betrayal. Enter witch Gina, a daughter of the Morrigan, and the woman Darius both hates and loves. What ensues is the rekindling romance between Gina and Darius, and the potential fall-out as Gina’s visit comes with an expiry date as does her life.
THE DARKNESS is a quick story of family, betrayal, lies and loss. The premise is fast paced and inviting; the romance is passionate; the characters struggle to move on from the past.
The Darkness by Nina Croft is book 2 of Daughters of the Morrigan. This is interesting because it is the continuing story of the first book’s main character’s parents. While it would not be totally necessary to have read The Prophecy, it would probably enhance the enjoyment of this one. The back story is given quite nicely in The Darkness but it is a short, short novella.
I liked Gina and Darius, the witch and the vampire bucked the rules to find love. I liked them a lot especially as they worked together for a common cause in book one. While I certainly enjoyed this story but wish it had been longer. The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This is the story of Gina, a witch, and Darius, her vampire lover. They are the parents of Raven who was featured in book one, The Prophecy. They were madly in love once but ended up apart through no fault of their own. They reunite briefly to save their daughter (The Prophecy) but no matter how much Gina wants to be with Darius, circumstances are once again forcing them apart. The difference this time is that Darius is going to fight for the woman he loves.
I enjoyed this book a lot. Gina and Darius have great chemistry and their love and desire for each other is evident. It's a quick read and I couldn't put it down. I like this series a lot and can't wait to read the next book.

Book 2 continues the story by taking up with Darius and Gina, a pair of star crossed lovers if I ever saw one. She has saved her daughter's life, but now she must pay for using the earth magic that stopped the sunrise and allowed Raven to escape unscathed. Gina just wants to be sure that Darius will be safe, and maybe get one last night in his arms. But her sister has set the hellhounds on her and her time is running out.
I was given an advanced copy of this book by the author. My review is voluntary.
Darius is a vampire and Gina a witch and 21 years earlier they had a daughter Raven. Darius thinking to save his daughter ran with her and then lost her and he was injured. But Gina saved her by using earth magic to stop the sunrise and she escaped. Now Gina wants to make sure Darius is okay and maybe have one last night with him before she has to pay the price of saving her daughter which is to forfeit her life. But her sister is sending demon dogs to do the deed. I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Darius Cole and Gina shared a story long ago. They also share a daughter, Raven, whom Gina saves her from death by using Earth Magic. Now, in order to keep the earth in balance, Gina must die. Her sister has sent the Hellhounds after her to bring her back to face her punishment. [To say more would be to give away the whole story, and I don't want to do that.]
I enjoyed the story and for me, since I didn't read the first book in the series, I was able to quickly figure out what was going on. My only criticism is that I would have liked the story to be turned into a full story.
This book was a very enjoyable read revealing that love can conquer all, even going as far as possibly the end of the world. It reveals the love of both father and mother to do anything to protect their child, going up against all odds and willing to sacrifice their life for their daughter as well as each other. I am excited to read the next book in the series. Give the book a try, you will definitely enjoy it. Laura Dimick
This one was a quick read into the paranormal with vampires and witches. This is also like a second chance in the world this is in. Darius is in need this time with Gina bringing them together. I would say stubborn would be in the way but the heart wants what the heart wants. But there will be some and elements that try to get in between with us seeing whom will be the overcomer. It has the suspense to hold you and the heat to sear.
Although I enjoyed reading this 2nd book in series I still wish the story had continued from book 1 about Kael and Ravens story. I enjoyed reading about Darius and Gina and their long lost love re kindled with some obstacles in the way. I'll be honest by saying I wasn't happy with the ending as it ended a little abruptly in my opinion and felt rushed but other than that still a good read and I will be reading the 3rd book.
The story of Darius and Gina, who are Raven's parents (book 1: the Prophecy). What would past lovers be willing to give up to banish the darkness? This story would make little to no true sense unless read after the Prophecy. I absolutely loved the story. The further development of characters and the connections to the first story. I can not wait to see what is in store next.
I loved The Darkness book 2 in Daughters of the Morrigan Series. We get to revisit the passion between Darius and Gina and they are so hot! I loved the story, especially the ending and I'm looking forward to reading book 3 Witch's Moon.
I give The Darkness 5 stars for its great read. I would recommend this book to Paranormal Romance Fans.
This is a truly well written heart wrenching compelling book. Darius and Gina have a painful past and a child together. Saving their child calls for drastic measures. I read this book in a day because I had to find out what happens.

I really enjoyed reading The Darkness. The story, characters were great and the pace of the story was really good. I really enjoy this series and look forward to reading the rest.
If you've read The Prophecy and want to know more about Darius and Gina, this story is it. It answers questions about them that may have risen. I enjoyed following their story. I'm hoping for more hellhounds, hahahaha
The Darkness. What can I say about this book that would make you want to read it more than already looking at the cover and seeing that it is going to be one very interesting read…. Oh I did forget to tell you that this book is the sequel to The Prophecy… haven’t read The Prophecy well it is best to read both of these books (one right after the other) so you are not left wondering what happened between these two.
This is second in the Daughters of Morrigan series by Nina Croft. Featuring the parents of Raven Cole from the first story of the series, this takes place weeks later from that one in which Darius Cole and Gina meet again, learn a lot of what kept them apart, and what the future holds for them. However, the future may be cut short for the two of them...
I liked the couple and their reconciliation. But I do feel like the story could have been expanded more to include flashbacks of their first meeting, their present interactions, and a glimpse of their first meeting with their daughter as a couple. I enjoyed the world created in this series by the author, and would definitely read more in the future.

This is the story of Gina, a witch, and Darius. Darius is a vampire who went to the witches for help and saw Gina and wanted her so he kidnapped and they fell in love. But her sister saw a vision where he was going to take her life, so she left him. We got a glimpse of them in the first book in this series when we learned they were Ravens parents. Even tho Gina still loves Darius she knows they can not be together. Only this time Darius is going to fight for the woman he loves.
Gina and Darius have great chemistry and their love is so real. Both are only doing what they feel is right. This is a short novella. So it a quick read. I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
