This is it. Everything I’ve done over the past year has led me to this point: eliminating the Elitists and finishing the Elemental war.
But my dear old grandfather won’t go down without a fight, and neither will the Shadow Sect. It’s going to take every ounce of power I have—and then some—to somehow survive and defeat them in the end.
Then comes the treachery… When the world is crumbling, our backs are against the wall, and crap is seriously hitting the fan, that’s when our loyalties are truly questioned. It’s like everyone I know is either betraying someone or is being betrayed themselves.
So, who can I trust when all faith is lost? Champions—at least that’s what the Elemental gods would have me believe. Nicholai has amassed far too much power, and the chosen champions are the only ones who might be able to help tip the scales.
I am one of them. I have less than a week to gather the others. Can I find them in time? Can we somehow save humanity from slavery at the hand of an Elemental tyrant?
With all the duplicity and deceit, I have a bad feeling that each side is only one betrayal away from winning or losing…

After an amazing ending in the second book, you’ll be sucked right back into this explosive series with the third and final book - Elemental Betrayal. The story begins a little time later, with Valerie and Cade in a new town since Center Allegheny had been destroyed time and time again.
The Revolutionists will be the beginning to the end for the battle against Nicholai and his supporters. With this newly formed Elemental group, they will have to stepped up their training with Elements - Earth, Wind, Water and Fire, to change the world for Elementals and humans alike.
But with friends turning to enemies, battles and the relationship between Val and Cade further developing, this story will take you on an emotional journey right up until the last page.
I highly recommend The Essential Elements series by Elle Middaugh.
So this is it.... the end is here and what an ending it is!
Val and Cade are set to end this war with her grandfather by any means possible. With a few of their closest friends they go through trials and tribulations and in the end meet the rulers of the Elemental world. Once each ruler picks a champion they will have all they need to defeat Nickolai-or so they hope.
Through the twists and turns of this finale we see some characters shine and others show there true sides. We are thrown into the action and it never lets up-even at the end! There are shocks and surprises to be had for sure in this instalment! As a fan of the series I had to say goodbye to a few characters and found myself in tears over it.
Ms Middaugh has been able to translate 2D characters into real people that we empathise with and root for and want to see triumph. She has done an amazing job describing everything to make it all so real and make it a part of our lives. We get an epic book that answers all the questions we have and then some.
Once I started this book I didn’t want to stop! When the end did come I just wanted to read it over again to make it last just a little longer!! I highly recommend this book/series for sure. There is a whole cast of fantastic characters and you will find your favourites to cheer for. With an epic battle looming we are treated to great wit and banter, betrayals and even a little bit of steam to make it even more interesting. Definitely the best book of the series and such an amazing book series!!
This book put me up side down, eviscerate me, chow me and spit me out. This story was long streak of actions, deaths, kidnapping, tortures, fights and tears. But even with this love has found its way. Still this story was so sad and tragic. Many secrets got reveled, many fights lost and many dear ones disappearing forever. End was surprising. Honestly I love and hate this book. If you are ready for rollercoaster - jump in this book, it will not disappoint you.
The last book is here!! I think that this is the best one yet!! Val and Cade are back and ready to finish the war and create a happily ever after! This is one action packed thrill ride!! From start to finish this is full of surprises, suspense and even a bit of steam. We readers have to suffer through some immense emotional scenes and say goodbye to some amazing characters! I cried as I was absolutely riveted to these pages!! I found that I didn't want to part from this once I read those last words. The ending holds some surprising twists that are sure to excite! I loved taking this journey with Valerie. She really underwent some huge hurdles and matured so beautifully! Ms. Middaugh is one incredibly talented author who not only entertains, but captures your attention fully. Her dialogue is feisty, fascinating and just epically fun! She is sure to be your next one click author 💗💗💗💗
Buckle up for an absolutely amazing final ride. This is the last book in this series, and it is the best of them all. The twists, turns and emotional rollercoaster ride that Ms. Middaugh takes you on will leave you breathless and make you wonder what happened. While it does not have the perfect storybook ending, it does have a great story that will leave you gasping and and wondering where are we going next? I for one will be along for the ride. ❤❤
What a fabulous conclusion to this great series! Lots of unexpected twists and turns. Definitely not the ending I was expecting, but the surprise was a good one!
WOW! My mind is still reeling with all that occurred in this final book of the series! Oodles of action, secrets, betrayals galore, family on family hate, Gods and demigods, ghosts and more!!! Suffice to say not a single boring moment occurred in this epic finale! I for one am desperately hoping for a spin off (read the epilogue 😉). If you haven't read the previous two books in this series then RUN, don't walk to read them first!
Loved this whole series. Something so different, full of adventure and twists and turns you don’t expect. Definitely need to read from book 1 because the whole story unravels and leaves you screaming for the next book.
I cannot tell you how much I loved the ending of this series. Val and Cade, Sienna, Xavier, Jay, and the rest. I love the dynamics of the relationships between each of the characters, how they find peace and forgive each other for wrong doings, how their relationships grow and strengthen. This story throughout all 3 books grew and developed with such finesse. I was hooked and invested from the first chapter, and as I read the last line of this book, I couldn't help but smile. Wonderful! Just truly wonderful.

There were so many emotions at the end of this book but I ultimately had a happy ending. There was redemption, forgiveness, love, and revenge. A very good series.
4.5 stars for Elemental Betrayal by Elle Middaugh. This is the third and final book in the Essential Elements series. This book was a ride filled with many twists and turns. I felt like I was on an emotional roller coaster. Elle Middaugh knows how to play with a reader’s emotions. This book picks up right where book two left off. I could not wait for this book so I could figure out what happens with Val, Cade and all the other characters. Let me tell you Middaugh did not bring disappoint with the final book in this series. In book three we really see Val become who she was meant to be. We also see the development of a lot of the other characters. We also get to meet some new characters who are just as great as the others. The story finally comes to an end and it may not be the ending we all thought we would see , it is still an amazing story. It is a story that might have you yelling at one point and in tears the next. I don’t want to spoil anything for you so I will just leave it at that. Great work Elle Middaugh.
What a finish to an incredible series. Without giving everything away, the powerful ending, middle, and beginning of this book is something that you will not want to miss. Elle has taken a world that normally stays out of the human eye and made it really public. She has taken a world and made it real. This is a book that I couldn’t put down.
Well… I hate to rate this book a 1, but the ending was STUPID. Before I get into that, I’ll talk about the series in general.
Book 1: very intriguing and pulled you in right away. It was intense very quickly, but I think that had to do with the length of the book. Overall, I enjoyed it.
Book 2: this is when all the back stabbing happens. This book gets a little more violent and intense. Granted, the main character burning at the stake and being tortured was pretty intense. This one is just as violent, if not slightly more. The book ended with a great cliff hanger and I was interested to find out the completion of the series!!
Book 3: let’s just start at the beginning, shall we? 1. The beginning was EXTREMELY confusing. I actually read the first 2 pages and made sure I was reading the correct book (2X times!!). It didn’t start off how the other ended. It picked up 3. MONTHS. LATER. I didn’t find out it was 3 months later until the middle of the first chapter. 🙄 I was super annoyed. 2. The gods came into this book for one chapter and then leave until the epilogue? Stupid. If you are gonna implement such big characters (who have a huge impact on the story) why not involve them more? 3. What the heck happened to her little brother? 4. Why did these random people show up in the story to help the fight? One was a “Demi god” the other was just pointless, Pax. 5. WHAT HAPPENED TO PAX?! 6. HOW DID THAT BOY KIDNAP AND ALMOST HAVE CADE KILLED AND THEY ALL LOVE HAPPILY EVER AFTER IN THE END?!?! Absolutely not 👊🏻 7. Everyone close to her dies, father, aunt, mother (reconciled), father-in-law etc. However, it was all glossed over and never talked about the rest of the book. Yes, she cried when it happened, but what about the other characters? How did they take it? 8. They won but they still had too much power and had to leave and live with the gods? Seriously? They don’t stay on the earth with friends and family? 9. So they leave, WHAT HAPPENS TO THE BROTHER?! He supposedly stays with Kale… but that was in passing. Wow… way to put a “important” character in the story and throw him out and not have a good ending for him. 10. How many people survived? And how did the worlds work together after they left? 11. Epilogue… they are seriously going back to school to be taught by the gods? They don’t just live happily ever after in laziness?
Needles to say, I am a person who wants completed and full endings. This was NOT completed or satisfying ending at all. I would not want to read this series again, JUST because of the ending.
Gahhhh! I hate when books end this way. Just give me a full complete ending and then I would feel like my time is complete and I have closure with the story. I guess that’s just my pet peeve 🤷♀️
I enjoyed the story up until this final book. So sad how one book could ruin the entire series for me!

I LOVEEEE THIS SERIES!!!!!!! I cannot say this enough, Elle is an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING author!!!! My emotions for this series is literally ALL over the place!!! I love Cade and Val together. I love that it wasnt easy and they had to fight like hell just to be together and everything they went through to save the world. It was so heart breaking when so many amazing characters were taken but I cannot stress this enough, YOU WILL REGRET NOT READING THIS SERIES!!!
Val has gone through a lot losing family and friends to her grandfather's lust for power. She and Cade meet Ida, the Goddess of Fire, in Euphoria along with the other elemental gods and goddesses. They are given the mission to kill Nicholai. It is a long, confusing and heart-breaking struggle to accomplish the mission. This last book in the series is very good. I have four stars because the proof-reading could have been better.
Well there was a tonne of 'betrayal'. Quite a lot of time jumps and everything just happened so conveniently and all worked out in the end which was a bit eh.
