He watches me, scrutinizes my every move. Why? Because he doesn’t trust me. He doesn’t trust in this ability that I have. But yet, he’s still here which means he’s intrigued, maybe even a little curious to see how this will all play out. While living under the same roof proves challenging, I find it even harder to remain unaffected by him. With every glance, every subtle touch I can feel the attraction grow between us…until it’s too strong for either of us to ignore. Now I’m no longer helping a man I found stranded in limbo. I’m helping a man I might be falling in love with. But there are forces at work determined to destroy him, and I need to use every ounce of strength I have to put together the pieces and solve the mystery that surrounds Cade. If I don’t…he won’t survive.
I must say that there is a lot of humor in this sequel story especially with Lynn and her crazy self. Cade is such a gentleman and his sibling are a hot mess yet very like-able. I connected more so with Valerie and the fact that she was a care taker and that ride or die chick for Cade who was well deserving of everything Valerie did for him and as well as Cade being deserving of Valerie. All in all this was a very good twisted tale of a love story where Cade and Valerie found each other by her special gift that she posses.
This was much better than the first book. It moved at a quicker pace and was entertaining. I liked knowing more about the characters here. Although he was the bad guy a part of me felt bad for Isaac. Had he not had Neva in his life, would he have turned out different? One person I never grew to like was her sister Lynne. Whether she believed in Valerie’s abilities or not, the constant remarks were annoying. At times I couldn’t tell if they were supposed to have a close relationship or just tolerate each other. I was waiting for someone to put her in her place but they never did.
I wish the epilogue had been further into the future. I would’ve liked to see where Valerie and Cade few years down the line with a family and see what the ultimate punishment ended up being for Owens.
Overall not a bad story, I still believe some of the fluff could’ve been removed and this story been 1 book instead of 2.
Love you way Valerie went into a trance to find Cade. Love the suspense and how they were able to figure it all out in the end. Good reading.Highly recommend e.
