Glass Castle Prince

Rate this book
A glass castle shatters as easily as a glass house—all it takes is one stone.

Prince Edward has known this all of his life, and taken staunch measures to ensure he doesn’t give the public any reason to pick up their rocks. Or torches. Or pitchforks. As a twenty-two-year-old in line to ascend the throne, he lives more like a cloistered monk than his college-aged peers. Restraint is the tone of his life, resilience the theme.

That is, until he meets a young woman who couldn’t care less about his title—unless she’s poking fun at it. Charlotte Everly grew up a stone’s throw away from the royal family’s summer house, but her life was, and is, entirely different from the prince’s.

They clash at each turn, disagree on every topic, and bear a general contempt for one another. Until . . .

One night, accompanied by one proposal, leads to one lapse in judgment . . .

Results in a nationwide scandal neither of them will escape.

4 'Royal love lessons' Stars!

I am a sucker for royal romances! Actually, it's been a while since my last read by Nicole Williams and I was definitely curious after reading the blurb of Glass Castle Prince. Nicole's stories are more on the mid-steam side with a little bit of drama and lots of emotion. This one was no exception and I really enjoyed it!

Edward and Charlotte's relationship develops gradually and I really loved seeing them as a couple. There was lots of sexual tension and the chemistry was beautiful and pretty sexy. I love a good royal romance with a HEA and Glass Castle Prince is a good example of that!

*I voluntarily read and reviewed an ARC of this book*

4 Stars

This book was exactly what I needed. No fuss, no unnecessary drama, and no angst. It was light and every bit feel-good. It had me smiling and laughing and just made me happy.

Glass Castle Prince’s storyline has that fairytale vibe in a modern setting. The characters, both Hero and heroine and secondary are likable and funny. I especially loved Edward’s friends, those three brought so many laughs. I couldn’t get enough and just wanted more of everyone.

Charlotte is at a crossroads. Before she makes a crucial decision on her future she needs time to figure out what she really wants. She’s trying to “find herself” and in doing so she learns she’s in a somewhat same dilemma with a prince.

Edward has a lot to think about. He’s on a self-finding journey to determine if he’ll become King. He’s honorable, soft-hearted and loyal. He was so easy to like and an all-around great guy.

Charlotte and Edward were two people that were more alike than different despite coming from different social circles. Both trying to make decisions about their future. And in the process also getting to know one another and ultimately falling for each other. Though it’s not easy and they’ll have obstacles to overcome, but in the end it’s all worth it.

Glass Castle Prince was an easy and enjoyable read. And although it reads as a standalone I can’t help but hope that Edward’s friends also get their own book. *fingers crossed*

“He’s the future king. I’m a girl whose dad used to tend the royal family’s summer house grounds.”

A modern fairytale with the likes of Cinderella that will leave you with hearts and stars in your eyes, Glass Castle Prince was an utterly cute and sexy new adult royal romance that will either have you laughing, swooning or clutching at your chest from all the emotions.

“I left because I thought I was falling in love with you. I only made it this far because I realized I already had.”

There were times when both Charlotte and Edward frustrated me, made me want to slap them both awake and just push them to go for it already, but that’s what made their collision all the more combustible, more intensely blinding, momentous and heart-thumping. I might’ve not even liked Edward that much right from the get go, but man did I swoon over him on the whole second half of the book. Those small deeds and little lines he dropped along the way... you’ll just feel how taken he truly was with Charlotte. Needless to say, my skin definitely tingled and I had all the butterflies in my tummy.

“I live in a glass castle where everyone and anyone throws stones based on hearsay and half-truths. I didn’t want the same for you.”
“Let them throw their stones. I don’t shatter so easily.”
“No. You certainly don’t. You’re my Iron Princess, Charlotte Everly.”

Glass Castle Prince is ultimately a light, fun and easy read—one that will give you all the fluttery feels and engulf you with heaps of happy endorphins long before you hit that last page—and I really enjoyed devouring it. Prince Edward and Charlotte together were just everything. Trust me, there will come a point in this book where you just won’t be able to put it down, and you know you’ll want that happily ever after. Here’s to hoping that Edward’s three manchild friends get their own stories down the road too… because they were just a blast—an amazing bonus in this book you’ll want to get to know more of.

"I live in a glass castle where everyone and anyone throws stones based on hearsay and half-truths. I didn't want the same for you."

Glass Castle Prince had great potential, but when the plot started to fall flat for me, that's when the book started losing my interest. Everything seemed so...instantaneous. I felt like I blinked and missed something when it came to Edward and Charlotte. And the whole, inexperienced/practice plot, was lost on me. It wasn't Nicole's strongest plot, in my opinion.

The best thing about Nicole Williams is she always creates likable characters, even if they are secondary. Her secondary characters were my absolute favorite in this one! The banter and the wit was a great addition to the story line and one that was necessary.

Charlotte wasn't my favorite type of character, but her character showed growth that I tend to look for in a lot of books. She grew in a way that a lot of heroines do not and for that I was thankful.

"I was a wreck. In the best possible way. A breathless, trembling, whirling mess."

The twist was predictable, but it was still a great addition to the story. I really liked the fairy tale feel and the happily ever after, it all seemed so fitting. If you're looking for a light, fun, and witty read I would highly recommend this one. It didn't evoke a lot of feelings from me and the plot didn't spark any interest but I still enjoyed it nonetheless.

ooohhhh! I really liked this! It was like a modern fairy tale with a prince and a common girl who fall in love despite all odds...including the bickering they do with each other LOL

The meeting between Charlotte and Edward was just perfect for the tone of the relationship they developed. Edward's friends were a much needed lightness in here because as sweet as the story was, it wasn't all light and fluffy for them.

Anyone who knows me or follows my reviews, knows that I love Nicole Williams and her writing. And to give her books anything less than 4 stars is truly hard. 3 stars are still books that I feel are good reads and would recommend, but they just didn't meet certain criteria for me.

Glass Castle Prince is very sweet and endearing read. I love the synopsis but somewhere along the lines, the plot itself just wasn't there for me. Everything just seemed too bland and nothing truly exciting ever came to be. And I will be honest, I don't think this it up to par with Nicole's typical writing.

Charlotte and Edward were decent characters, but nothing truly stood out to make them unforgettable. The secondary characters, Edwards friends and Charlotte's bestie were absolutely hilarious and truly kept this story entertaining. While Charlotte and Edward weren't my favorites, they still were enjoyable to read.

As I said, this story was sweet. Everything just sort of fell in place. I can't say that there were even twists into this story as everything seemed predictable but still made for an endearing read. Nothing was bad about this story, just wasn't Nicole's best. While this story may not been one to arouse any interest from me; it's a very light and easy read that most will enjoy.

I don't typically read royal books. They just aren't my thing. However, I never pass up an opportunity to read a new book from Nicole Williams.

I can honestly say that I wasn't expecting all of the sexual tension in this book. Nicole really made these characters work for that pivotal moment that you know will happen at some point. I just wanted them both to just get over themselves and get it on. The wait was totally worth it though.

Edward and Charolette's story is definitely full of ups and downs... angst... tension... a little bit of fun... some heartbreak. I can honestly say that I enjoyed most of this book from start to finish.

I laughed some. I swooned some. My heart got a little tight in a couple of places. I can honestly say that I was entertained by this book.

The ending was a little too happy. Some of the character's turnaround at the end felt too fast and forced. But I guess it's never a true HEA without everyone ending on a happy note. I will take it.

Glass Castle Prince is a contemporary love story based on a non conventional relationship. One is a prince, soon to be king and another the groundskeeper’s daughter. Her parents thought they could shelter her from the frivolous lifestyle of being privileged so they forbade her to go 50 yards within the castle. More than they knew she was going to be a lot closer than that.

I love Charlotte even though at times she drove me crazy with how much of an airhead she was in certain situations. Girl I know you’re inexperienced but that doesn’t make you clueless. You went to college for crying out loud. Ugh.. I enjoyed how strong she was despite the latter. She was stubborn and level headed (at times). Her banter with Edward was a long awaited laughter that I needed. She kept that boy on his toes and it was fun reading about it.

Edward is strong. Stubborn at times and quiet. He doesn’t voice what’s on his mind like Charlotte does. While she’s outspoken and honest. He’s silent and broody. There were so many times I had wished he would just say how he felt instead of all this tension between the two. By the time I finished the book I never wished harder.

Before I knew it the story was over. I was at “The End” with still so many questions. I felt like the book was rushed and where I wish we had more insight into their relationship was more focused on the angst and tension between them. I needed a hundred more epilogues but realistically just 2 more. I know we are supposed to leave some ending of books to our imagination but with this one I needed more.

Overall I throughly enjoyed Glass Castle Prince. It was a fun and fast read even with all the questions I still have. I’m hoping in the future Nicole Williams will write a novella for them so I can get my closure.

MEINUNG :

Ohhhh…*dreamy sigh* I love fairy tales! Nicole Williams did a fantastic job bringing this contemporary fairy tale to life.

Glass Castle Prince is just the right mix of fairy tale and maybe-this-could-happen-in-real-life to make you swoon. At least as much as any “regular girl” falling in love with a Prince story has the potential to really happen, right?

I’m not even a fan of the whole royal family fuss. I don’t get excited for the real life weddings and babies and hoopla. I don’t really get it. They’re just people, and the real history behind it is really pretty horrific so I don’t find it appealing or romantic “in real life”. But the royal fantasy is one that’s instilled in us as little girls, and it’s one that I can see myself getting lost in easily, strictly as a dreamy fantasy. This story played into that perfectly.

Besides being a fairy tale, there’s one other huge thing that it has that I love: forbidden romance. I loved every bit of Prince Edward and Charlotte. Their dynamic and chemistry from the start were enticing and interesting and I ate it up. I craved even the tiniest interaction between them. The tension between them built and built and I couldn’t get enough.

The only thing I wanted just a tad bit more of was closure. I felt like it all wrapped up very quickly at the end and I wanted to bask in some things a little bit, have some things tie up a little bit, and have some people get their come-uppance. But even without those things, I’m still happy with the way the story played out and I finished it with a smile on my face.

I hope that she continues writing this as a series of standalones and writes books for Edward’s crazy man-child friends. They all need to find love and settle down. I don’t want to talk too much about the story itself, I think it needs to be read and experienced, but just know that I loved it and I definitely recommend it. I hope there’s more to come.

This was a relaxing read that came at a much needed time. The storyline has that fairy tale vibe in a modern setting. The characters (primary and secondary) are light and funny. Edward’s friends are my favorite and brought me the most laughter. I struggled at first with the ease at which Charlotte was manipulated. She fully capsized the role of “finding herself”. But her passion shone through and she proved herself by the end. Edward too is on a self-finding journey to determine if he will become king. He’s honorable, loyal and soft-hearted. I had no doubts about him. He was the most reliable character for me. I’m most appreciative of the setting and character build-up Nicole conjured for Charlotte and Edward. It heightened my appreciation for their circumstances. I can always turn to Nicole for an enjoyable read, and she delivered with Glass Castle Prince.

Review by Lisa Kane

"I live in a glass castle where everyone and anyone throws stones based on hearsay and half-truths. I didn't want the same for you."

There is a universal fascination for royalty. Although the public adore their prince and princesses, they are also the first ones to eat up the gossip if the royals topple off their thrones.

Charlotte Everly is starting a new position as the off-season house manager for the Royal family's summer home. It's the perfect job for her-her father was the groundskeeper for the Royals when she was growing up. It should be quiet and afford her the chance to reflect on her life and what path she wants to take. She's at a crossroads and is taking a year off from school to figure out what she wants.

Only her quiet is interrupted by a group of rowdy guys who she confuses with burglars. So what does she do? Well, who wouldn't grab a frying pan and bring it down hard on one of them. Of course, these are friends of Prince Edward-the same prince who is laying on the floor with a lump the size of an egg, thanks to Charlotte.

"And that, splayed out on the floor thanks to your skill with kitchenware, is Prince Edward."

Charlotte is not fazed by the Royals, least of all Edward, whom she sees as a playboy with no real regard for hard work. When he wakens, he finds he is intrigued by the sassy house manager who seems to actually dislike him. Oh, yes, he is intrigued.

"You're going to rule this country one day, right? I'm sure you can think of a way to figure out my name."

Charlotte can't help but be her feisty self with Edward. She sees the man behind the title. But she is someone who is content to stay out of the public's eye. Whoever Edward will be with-that woman will never be anonymous.

"As prince, I wanted to be with you. As king, I'll want to be with you. Nothing will change where our relationship is concerned."

Charlotte and Edward are perfect for each other. At first glance, how could two people be more different? But they see inside the other, they can be real with each other.

"You see the man, not the crown, and when I look at you, I see the woman I was meant to spend the life with . The woman I want to spend it with."

“I live in a glass castle where everyone and anyone throws stones based on hearsay and half-truths. I didn’t want the same for you.”

Charlotte grew up watching the royalty on the other side of the fence. Being the groundskeeper's daughter of one of the royal estates, she has seen by far all the glamour, wealth, and hierarchy that surrounds this world. But her stay at the estate did not last long, as her parents decided to move in and take a "normal" job so she could grow up in the real world. Years later, she returns to the place she called home, as a maid. During the winter, she will be responsible for taking care of and keeping the property in order, and being completely alone with her thoughts is exactly what she wanted, making it the ideal job at the moment. When she decides to postpone her plans for college for a year, she hopes that this period will help her find the answers she needs so that she can decide what is best for her life.
What she could not have predicted was that her quiet, lonely stay would be shaken by four boys. And to make matters worse, thinking that the house was being invaded, ends up hitting the head of one of them with a frying pan. The prince’s head.
Edward felt that isolating himself with his friends on the empty estate would be a good way to get away from his parents. But being attacked by a daring girl, who speaks exactly what she thinks and does not care at all about the fact that he is the prince was not in his plans. Charlotte may even try to get rid of him, but he's not going anywhere. After all, he never escapes a challenge.
The two have much more in common than they realize. Both are feeling suffocated by their parents' expectations. Charlotte has been prepared all her life to work hard, to strive in her studies, and to become a doctor, but she is wondering just how much the dream is really hers, not her parents'. Edward will be the future king of Norland and for that to happen, he abdicated many things in his life, he didn’t live numerous experiences to preserve himself and not to take risks. All his steps are accompanied by the media, all his decisions made by the well-being of the crown, all his choices made by other people. The two are sinking and do not know how to get out of this nightmare.
As time goes by and they learn to live in harmony, which begins as a truce, becomes friendship until move on to something else. But in a world that lives by appearances and rules, will this couple have a chance, or will it be shattered for the sake of the nobility?
Charlotte and Edward are good characters, believable, with depth, layers and pertinent yearnings. Her spontaneity counterbalanced his detachment. The noble friends of the prince were a good addendum, it was funny to accompany these adult men getting a shock of reality.
A suitor too good to be true crosses Charlotte's path, creating a slight tension in the plot. We also have a night of passion and an indiscreet photo that will provoke a real scandal on the front page of every newspaper. And with that, the king and the queen appear to disrupt the couple.
I've hated the queen, from her veiled bias to the way she interferes in her son life. Charlotte and Edward will not have an easy way, and with various deliberate interferences, maintaining that relationship will be harder than they imagined.
The book is a classic novel, with a young girl falling in love with a prince. Despite the mishaps, the happy ending is possible. The characters hold the plot, and the fact that the couple has depth, have doubts, are normal, contributes to improve the narrative.
"Once upon a time" gets a new face, but it still works, and well.

Glass Castle Prince

„Heavy lies the crown

This book was a reminder of why I haven’t been reading many contemporary novels lately. From all the nerve this book brought, the ending (sickly sweet as it was) did have me feeling a bit better about it overall. The blurb nails the story completely and I’m sure 95% can almost guess what the scandal between the heroine Charlotte and Prince Edward. Charlotte at first was a very interesting character. She was independent, sassy, smart and opinionated. Charlotte comes off as very set in her ways and overtime the intelligence I thought she had turned more naive and immature. She pretends to have it all together and on the surface she does but at the end of the day I found her selfish, especially in regards to Edward. Like most normal poor or middle class folks, we have our opinions of the super rich and powerful. Royalty is a whole other ordeal and for the most part no one could argue they barely have to lift a finger for something if they choose not to. For some reason when Edward shows his true colors, basically not being half the ass she expected, this girl refuses to take her blinders off and see the real him. Honestly I felt so bad for him. I feel wronged for him about the things she asked him to do. How could she not see how she was using him and how that would affect him.
I won’t even get into the character of Theo who I hated from the start. Throughout his role in the book many people mention horrible things about him and it’s like Charlotte just doesn’t get it, it doesn’t compute to her. I mean how could she be wrong smh. Don’t worry there’s not really a love triangle situation, it’s more Charlotte and Edward are both in denial, her way more than him.
She was a frustrating character and I wish they wouldn’t have spent so much time “playing games.” This book is certainly New Adult. Both characters are still young and learning their place in the world. Both have fears and anxiety about that futures, luckily they both are on a path to determine that. When their lives collide, literally I might add, both have no clue what their in for. I could have done without the angst but I guess it’s to be expected in a novel with a plot such as this. I would have preferred less errors, one point the prince is referred to as the future Kind of Norland rather than the Future King. I mean what do I, a commoner know? Overall while I found the storyline predictable and the character frustrating, the story was still interesting and I stuck through it. If you’re into the whole royalty thing mixed in with some cheesy humor and a slow burn romance, I think you’d be pleased.

While some people have royalty in their blood, Charlotte has taking care of them in hers. Despite growing up near their summer home, they couldn't be more different. They have the all that goes along with their name, and, in her opinion, tend to abuse and/or misuse it, whereas, her father was their groundskeeper when she was younger. With the job of house manager now falling to her, she intends to do her best, do her father proud, and not treat the royal family as if they're better than her simply because they were born into a different family. Circumstances do not make your superior, but how you handle yourself can definitely prove you inferior.

Charlotte believed the summer would be quiet, giving her time to herself to think about things, but she couldn't have been more wrong when she believes the place is being robbed. Defending herself, and protecting the house, the frying pan in her hand works quite nicely. Except her target was Prince Edward. Oops.

Edward isn't sure what to make of Charlotte, She's proven she can take care of herself, as well as the fact that his status doesn't faze her. Actually, she may be the only one that calls him on his behavior. The attraction is there, as is the happiness that she truly sees him, not the crown, not the prince, and not the future king. To her, he's just a man.

Unfortunately, despite how strong their connection is, the feelings that have grown between them, Edward lives in the spotlight, something Charlotte does not want nor need. But if she wants to be with Edward, she'll have to accept everyone knowing the slightest detail about her and their life together.

Can she handle that? Is loving Edward worth the hassle? Will Edward show her that the part she dislikes isn't what's most important? Is a HEA possible? Has Edward found his princess and future queen?

One-click now and follow along as two people, seemingly complete opposites, find the one thing they have in common that tops everything else...love. I like how Charlotte wasn't awed by Edward's position, that she saw an imperfect man who was struggling to find his own path in a world where the future was already laid out for him. As for Edward, you can understand his surprise, and happiness, at the fact Charlotte was herself with him, that she didn't put on airs, or try to be who she thought he wanted. - By Elizabeth

Nicole Williams revitalizes the classic Cinderella trope with Glass Castle Prince. In Glass Castle Prince, Williams delivers to unique characters, a groundskeepers daughter, Charlotte and a prince, Edward.
Neither can decided whether to follow their own paths and be their own person or follow the hopes and dreams of their parents. Intent on spending a year in solitude, these two are drawn to the other's understanding and from there, Williams delivers one of the most engaging stories I have had the pleasure to read this year.

Admittedly, I'm not a huge fan of billionaires or prince tropes. However, Williams made me change my mind with Edward. He wasn't arrogant, putting on heirs or entitled. In fact, he was humble to a fault. Their struggle to act on the connection they had drew me in and created a thirst for what comes next.

Williams really did an exceptional job with Glass Castle Prince. Although it reads as a standalone, I can't help but hope for more from these wonderful side characters and friends of Edward's.

2.5/3 stars

I am usually a fan of this author and royal books in general. But for some reason I had trouble connecting to this couple, the story line, and the plot just seemed predictable to me. It could be since it was more NA since the characters are young twenties making it harder for me to relate. It could also partly be me since I am in kind of a book slump.

I did like the group of side characters that added some more fun. I liked that Charlotte was not afraid to challenge Edward. And both characters were looking for direction and fulfillment in their regimented lives and did show growth. It was a sweet and light story of opposites attracting and the commoner with a Prince. It would make a good Lifetime or Hallmark movie.

Another fantastic book from Nicole. Her words are magical to me. I got swept away with the story.
My heart ached for Edward and Charlotte, for the uncertainty they both felt. I loved the way the story played out. In a way that only Nicole can write and get me sucked in to!
A fairy tale we can all root for!
Another 5 star read.
