Aabhas, a self-professed Marxist voted against BJP and Narendra Modi in 2014. This is the story of his journey of transformation from a Modi hater to a Modi supporter.
In his own words—”I had both heart at twenty and now have brain while I kiss thirty. This is a true story of journey from being a ‘Marxist’ to an alleged ‘Modi Bhakt.’ I once saw Arvind Kejriwal as the saviour of the realm and Modi as a mass-murderer.”
A study tour to Ajanta Caves began to shape a new Aabhas. He questioned the indoctrination into Communist ideology he got in college. “India leaped to become the third-fastest growing economy and its respect in the world reflects on the leadership of Modi. This is a New India, making alliances and friends, and willing to hit its enemies hard.”
Born and bought up in Hazaribagh, a small district from land of mines: Jharkhand. He studied Architecture in Piloo Mody College of Architecture, Cuttack amid 2006-11. Currently he is associated with IDEAS-Nagpur as a Research Scholar and he also keeps experimenting designs through varied professional projects. Apart from Architecture, author is also keen to study politics, all art forms and is often engrossed with paintings, poetry during spare times. “Restart” is his first published Novel and he is engaged penning third work of fiction
The way Aabhas has shattered every myths of Aryans and their invasion on Indians is completely phenomenal. The title suits the quality of the book. Every chapter has a different theme and reasons to prove why this book has been titled as #modi again. From FDI to Gujrat riots and Ram temple, Aabhas has explained and shattered every myths in a fabulous way. It's really a good read who want to see the other aspect of major incidents which liberals always kept hidden.
The author Aabhas Maldahiyar is an architect by profession and this is his first non-fiction book.
This book already creates a ruffle due to a phrase "An Ex-Communist Manifesto". He was communist by following the idiom "If you’re not a communist at the age of 20, you haven’t got a heart. If you’re still a communist at the age of 30, you haven’t got a brain." Thanks, he has the brain, otherwise this book could not able to reach Garuda Prakashan (publisher) .
The author gives description about his childhood, his upbringing at highly secular and "Sarva Dharma Saman" environment, then brainwashing at College, then becoming admirer of Mr.Kejriwal and finally finds his lost brain and becomes defender of Narendra Modi.
One can get glimpse of: #Description of lively political transition from UPA, AAP and Aanna Hazare era to rise of Modi. #Lucid and penetrating counter attack on dreaded Aryan Invasion Theory (AIT) #Hollowness of communism by giving example from international arena #Shri Krishna, the father of communism #History and analysis of Ayodha movement #A wonderful chapter of India's foreign policy and #Finally all achievements of Modi Govt. from surgical strikes, Modieconomics, Swach Bharat Mission and others policies
One may tag this book as 'Bhakt Manifesto', however, by doing this one will shut her windows and doors to knowledge regarding history and political movement of Bharat.
This is for beginners or foreigners to know about Modi 1.0.
If “All is well that ends well” is to be believed then the reading experience was not well.
The very name of the book is infectious - “An Ex-Communists Manifesto” and sets the stage with a different expectation. At least for me it led me to think that it would of course unravel some darkness of the communist world and activities. But there is nothing of that sort.
The contents & the observations in the book are legitimate and even Modi-haters won’t be able to debate on that. But with no doubt and disrespect to the knowledge and credibility of the author, this book doesn’t throw light on anything new/unknown to general public with the slightest inclination to read news.
The book goes in phases - initially the contents look very fluid and exciting but then becomes a news report compilation towards the end. The contents do not do justice to the interesting names of the chapters. Thoughts on a few chapters :
Yellow infects Red : This is the most interesting chapter in the entire book but it deals with the Aryan Invasion Theory and very very meticulously !
Why Left is no more Left : It doesn’t have much but only touches upon loopholes of communism in India. The author could have dealt with at least their bigotry and lies here.
Their Undying Romance with Pakistan : With such a title, the content is only of 1 and a half pages with nothing new but only Manishankar Iyer’s comments.
What about Gujarat? : This chapter is on the allegations on Modi with the Gujarat Riots of 2002 and gets over in 2 pages. It doesn’t deal with anything but the consequences of allegations only.
13th chapter onwards, the book becomes a compilation of all the news reports on the various schemes and moves by the Govt.
Again, not that the contents are wrong but there is nothing mentionable in the book except for AIT.
If by this time there is a anyone without any knowledge on Modi 1.0, this book can be recommended to him/her.
Though the book is two years old, the facts it has would display to people why Modi won with such astounding victory.
I feel the book needs to be updated. Revisions of the book can keep on giving the facts that will keep the Government on his toes. I follow the author on twitter and his tweets which debunk lies of leftist, psuedo liberals & urban naxals has me both in laughter and awe.
Many have blocked the author unable to answer or rebutt his explanations.. In less words I am his fan.
"If you're not a communist at twenty, you haven't got a heart. If you're still a communist at thirty, you haven't got a brain" Aabhas Maldahiyar, author of the book meant for everyone especially those who baselessly criticise Narendra Modi, an architect by profession who identified himself as a nationalist communist once chanced upon a visit to the Ellora Caves that completely changed his perspective regarding the ancient Indian civilization. That probed him to plunge into Puranas and Itihaasa that helped him realise and come out of his anti-Hindu viewpoints he sported. For someone who regarded Narendra Modi, RSS and the Hindutva movement as demonic and communal it didn't take much time for Maldahiyar to realise that maybe he had been wrong about various things. His regret that he didn't vote for Modi in 2014 and the undeniable development and progress he observed in India under Modi government completely transformed him from a Modi hater to Modi 'bhakt' probing him to write his Manifesto as an ex communist. The author talks about various things, right from his personal views and the external factors that moulded his Marxist love. He talks on the liberal arts and the way they shape one's thoughts, anti corruption movement led by Anna Hazare, the hero he discovered in Kejriwal who miserably disappointed him later. He also bursts the infamous Aryan Invasion theory myths and explains the pure meaning of Hinduism and Hindutva. He also talks about the actual concept of communism and how the so called present Indian communists aren't exactly what they call themselves as. Further, he talks on sensitive issues like Gujarat and Ayodhya issues as well as drawing attention towards Ambedkar's stand regarding Nehru rule. He doesn't forget to write answers for questions like 'What Modi did to India?' involving Modi's new assertive and active foreign policy unlike the previous one, swachha bharat mission, surgical strikes, digital India and his famous Mann ki baat that cuts of the involvement of press and directly connects him to the public. He balances both the good and bad things, where Modi was successful and where he didn't manage to be. Aabhas Maldahiyar has some valid points when he says he'd like to have Modi government back in term again as he gives us the gravity regarding the slow yet steady developments that are taking place. #Modi Again is this handbook for anyone who would like to explore what Modi actually means to India. The author gives simple explanations regarding things most of us fail to understand or are misinformed about. The book is a light read and as for me, I really loved the way the author approaches the readers. Although the book blurb calls Aabhas a Modi bhakt, he strictly stays at the centrist line and draws attention to what exactly has been going on. I'd recommend that everyone reads this book, it's sort of a quick hand book. Especially for young minds out there. It's a MUST for people who question Narendra Modi unnecessarily as well. The author keeps reminding the readers that it's not just the duty of the government but also the responsibilities of each citizen to bring the change he expects for himself in the society. He concludes with Modi government has laid the ground for us and it's our duty to do the groundwork along the government because India follows the democratic view 'of the people, by the people and for the people' Plus what I loved the most about the book is Aabhas Maldahiyar beautifully has attached an article on how Sri Krishna is the father of Communism and it's the most beautiful part of the whole book. It left me speechless.
Aabhas has very well captured his thoughts and influences in his life. Each and every chapter precisely conveys a distinct phase of his life. With regards to history, the Marxist narrative, is something most of us can relate to. But what Aabhas has done is that he has given a voice to our feelings.
It all started when Aabhas visited Ajanta caves, being a Architect student he was shocked. “Were the monks really so wise and scientific to use Snell’s Laws of reflection?” Questioning himself, while the bus drove off. I guess even Aabhas didnt realise, at that moment he had boarded a new bus. A journey of Bharat, A journey to the ancient Bharat, which helps come out of his Anti - Hindu viewpoints.
At first, the author concluded a brief information about his family under “My Cosmopolitan Family”. Being a professor of History, his father used to narrate him tales of various movements around the world. In a narrative that India is a weak nation, that India was neither a country of wisdom nor power. E.g - Aryan invasion theory, Caste system, Concept of nation state came to India only in 1947 etc.
Further the author has talked about Anti - Corruption Movement, How Arvind Kejriwal became his hero and later stuck as a disappointment. From bursting the infamous Mythical Aryan invasion theory and Explaining the real meaning of Hinduism and Hindutva. Further talked about some unknown side of BR Ambedkar and some sensitive issues like Ayodhya and Gujarat. Author has given an insight of Why Modi and BJP is the only option for India and How dangerous are Marxist historians.
Other factors that helped the author to conclude that #ModiAgain is a need more than a choice makes a very informative read. Many measures and projects undertaken by the Modi government have been captured very well. It's both educational and also makes one want to know more about these initiatives. For example, he shows how programs like Swatch Bharat and Digitalization have changed things on the ground like never before. These initiatives have been bringing a change in the attitude and lifestyle of people which never happened earlier. This goes on to show that the Modi government is much more than just slogans, freebies and budget declarations. "If you're not a communist at twenty, you haven't got a heart. If you're still a communist at thirty, you haven't got a brain" - Aabhas Maldahiyar.
Although, book has brief detail, I wish there are more details. :)
I like the part where it talks about how communist work and how they think and how our rig Vedas and our culture has been morphed by the Britishers who wanted to do us and other thought processes which is written very well in this book!!
Author Aabhas Maldahiyar is an architect and has written two fiction books prior to #Modi Again. He is also a part of the design team of Namami Gange, the Ganga river rejuvenation project. He describes himself as "Ex Marxist"
Small dynamic changes act as impetuses for major transformations and #Modi Again is written in the same spirit. This is one of those rare books where the title actually makes sense. Every chapter is distinct and the build-up does justice to the title.
The book offers a sneak peek into the Modi Version 1.0 with snippets of author's interaction with subject matters like:-
- Anna Hazare's Dharna of 2011 or 2011 Indian anti-corruption movement - Nullification of Aryan Invasion Theory through evidence from Vedas. - Corruption under the UPA regime - Demolition of the Babri Masjid - Hindutva and Hinduism - Modi's Foreign Policy - Uri Surgical Strike
At its wholesomeness, #Modi Again can be best described as a "Semi-memoir". It is neither dull nor too political and has an unrestrained temperament throughout. Aabhas writes with simplicity and composure about his metamorphosis and has done a great job of shelling out his contemplations through lucid chapters. The narration is honest and candid and he presents his truth in the most unassuming manner.
The book lacks a clear vision. It only serves as an aggregator of information which one already knows and is available in the public domain. I got misled by the title and hoped the book would take me into a communist's mindest and ideology, and what it took for the author to change. But nothing of that sort, other than the author mentioning - i was a communist and now I am not :(. Hoped for first hand expereinces of the author which would take me into communist world. Failed. DeMo, Surg.Strikes, Foreign policy, swach bha rat, babri/ram issue etc are already known and content is same old as available in newspapers, articles and google.
Being an ex communist the author has brought out the thought process on
a. What does communism really means b. Difference between communists of India and china c. Diplomatic strategy if Modi with Pakistan and china d. How Modi suits best for India
This is a book which has to be read for sure which makes understand anyone about why Modi won in 2019 elections with higher seats.
5 stars not because the author has praised Narendra Modi, but because if the research and accuracy of numbers he mentions. He is objective in his writing and discusses issue objectively. . Honest in his admission from being a communist to a realist. It takes courage and honesty to admit one’s mistakes
The author has tackled many myth about the history of Bharat, from aryan myth to Ayodhaya temple. This book is also his journey from communist to a Hindu, from a Kejriwal fan to a Modi fan.
