So let me get this straight: you condemn one man who has been brainwashed but have a close relationship with another who had one been brainwashed? This book was awful with a capital A. The plot made no sense and the ending was stupid and I still have no idea how rae supposedly changed the world for the better. I'm glad I read this on kindle unlimited because if I had bought it I would have been truly pissed. Seriously, skip this series folks. It sucks and you'll thank me for not wasting your time the way I did.
Let me first start off by saying, this is the first book I have ever given 1 Star. I am genuinely so agitated I wasted my time on this book. There was so many things that went wrong in this book, the author shouldn’t have even made it.
1st (and most obvious): The spelling and grammatical errors in the book is really annoying and unacceptable. Since some were so bad, I had to re-read the sentence multiple times to make sure I knew what it was saying and I wasn’t reading it incorrectly.
2nd: Why would you create this story to lead up to this big ending to just have it completely flop and NOTHING HAPPENS? Literally no action and NO ONE fought back. You seriously made the main character detour from a planned escape just to have no really ending or explanation to what really happened? Like what...???
3rd: Then at the end of the book nothing has really changed since the government still makes most of the decisions. Also those last 2 sentences didn’t explain anything to me. Other than she created chaos when giving the government a small amount of blood? Literally, that’s all I got from that no explanation or anything.
4th: What happened to everything and everyone after the “democratic meeting” when she gave her blood?
5th: Ed changed her mind? How? When? What did he say? You can’t just drastically change the main characters thoughts and motives without explaining it! (I only found this out because there were 3 or 4 sentences about it in the EPILOGUE! Yes... after the story ended is when I found out her ideas switched!)
6th: The book itself wasn’t even that exciting. I was bored 85% of the time. I kept reading because I was hoping there would be a good ending... NOT EVEN CLOSE....
Once this story ended and I sat there fuming, I thought to myself, “That’s really what I waited for and took my time to read? That was a waste of my time”. I am HUGELY disappointed and out right upset about this book. If I knew this was the ending, I wouldn’t have even started reading the series. Readers beware... this series is NOT WORTH IT.
The question I always ask at the end of my review: Having read the book series now, would you take the time and read it or skip it? SKIP IT⏩⏩
Ugh. Where to even start? The non-ending? The shockingly high number of typos and errors? The details that don’t make sense?
Ok. The non-ending. WHAT WAS THAT!? I read over 600 pages total in this series to not even really know how it ends? Is everything the same as it was this whole time?
Her friends that despised OBK now all love it and somehow she disrupts everything with one prick of blood but we don’t even know how? Nothing even changed. The government or OBK or whatever still controls everything as far as we know so this was all for LITERALLY NOTHING.
There’s a disclaimer in the beginning that it was written and edited in the UK so things like spelling and punctuation may differ from the US but this has to many mistakes, typos, weirdly worded sentences (like they wrote it then changed it but didn’t take out all the words they should have) that have nothing to do with UK English. Also, was this even edited at all!?
Now for some random thoughts I noted while I was reading which I literally never do these just bothered me that much:
Logan and Peter couldn’t be seen together in public becaus eots suspicious but they have lunch together immediately and at work! Where people know them! Then they meet up again in public.
Drew sucks.
In the second book her story was that she spent time with homeless people but this one says they’re extinct
Why are they in a quarantine? Why a lockdown? What contagion does she have?
How does the entire world get this lifelong AV update thing? Do they have some technology in them already? I don’t get this.
Did OBK shut down the entire world after the attack? Just the US? What was the threat they told people? Do I just not remember?
How does peter delay his appointment so long? It’s originally the next day then all of a sudden it’s over a week later? And he just isn’t going to work during this or what?
There is just one world government now? Is that what this is?
I noticed many editing issues in this book with omitted words, replaced words like “untimely” instead of “ultimately”, mix ups with real/online names.
This book did not fulfil the promise of the first 2 books. The story itself rambled on for too long with inconsequential detail, then the ended was rushed and unbelievable. One main character had their entire arc changed with no real justification and against the character that had been built for them.
*Spoiler alert*
And for the whole system to be brought down by one drop of blood, with only a very short and vague explanation of why that would happen, made absolutely no sense! The Drs would have suspected and ensured that didn’t happen, considering the level of technology that was being discussed.
Even the relationship storyline just fizzled out with no real answers of promises of the future.
Just very disappointed in what had been a promising series.
I loved this series the whole way through however this book completely disappointed me. I just cannot deal with the ending. I was 99% into the final book and the problem they had been fighting throughout the series wasn’t solved. I feel as though the ending was rushed and tbh pretty crushing. The people she was working with suddenly became her enemies in the last 5% of the book with no real reason why. After building such a strong relationship and hatred of the OBK, I can’t comprehend how her friend would have his mind changed in one conversation. I just feel like that wasn’t a real ending and there should be another book where it was revealed her friends were actually brainwashed or something. Ugh.
Really disappointed with the ending to this series. I feel like the author rushed the third installment. The first book was great, the second was ok but this is very poor, not to mention the errors throughout the book. I wish I hadn't bothered with the series now.
This might be the worst ending of any trilogy I have read in the past few years. Completely rushed, disjointed, and NOTHING was fleshed out. I should have stopped at the first book. This was a waste of time.
I gave this book 2.5 stars! Sadly the characters connection / relationships didn't improve like I was hoping for in the last book, the love triangle was all but forgotten until the very end & I felt it lacked emotion so I struggled to keep interested at times. Overall I feel this series was focused too much on the company details and technology rather than the people living under government control. Personally I really liked Rea & Logan but was left feeling like i needed more & not in a good way, the amount of detail about the machine took some of the feeling element away causing a not so good, rushed ending. This book had great potential and a fantastic plot but I was left wanting more & not in that can't wait for the next book kind of way.
I really enjoyed the other books in this series but it felt like the series just hastily wrapped up in the last two chapters without much explanation of how it happened. You spend the first two books and most of the third scheming ways to take down this company and then the final takedown isn't even really planned for or explained and then it goes straight to the short epilogue. I hate to leave bad book reviews but this was severely disappointing.
The build up throughout this series has appeared to be heading towards a huge fall out with a great ending. I have to be honest and say that I was actually very disappointed in the ending of this story - it felt cobbled together with a hint of “ah that will do” to it.
Loved this series. Ending seemed a little rushed with no explanation or details as to why.... well I don’t want to spoil anything... but let’s just say it drops you off fast. Left me with a lot of questions and feeling unsatisfied. Lots of errors in the print too making it hard to flow through. Loved Rae’s journey though. Great series
I loved this book - definitely would appeal to fans of maze runner, gender games etc. However, there are a multitude of grammatical and spelling mistakes that make reading uncomfortable at times - with the amount of thought and detail put into this series, this lack of attention was disappointing.
I absolutely cannot believe this trilogy was published with so many terrible editing mistakes. There were several mistakes on every page. I felt like I was reading a story written by one of my fourth graders. I did enjoy the story, but it was very hard to see past the errors.
It wasn't your run of the mill serious it had a few twists and turns. I loved the characters, very well written and recommend this for everyone's reading wish list
Spoiler Alert*** It was a great read full of twists and turns! I wanted to know more about how her blood was a virus and how it took down the establishments.
I wish that the author had chosen to take more of the book to actually explain how the ending was going to occur that the filler material that was chosen. It's quite disappointing.
I was originally enthralled with book one, but eventually the appalling amount of spelling, grammatical and general errors it is simply distracted from the story which I found myself disenchanted with in the end.
A great series in a future that seems scarily possible. Lots of twists and turns and unexpected changes how people see the world they live in with a perfect ending
This book was full of spelling and grammatical errors. I find it hard to believe that anyone read this before its release. It made for a frustrating experience.
The trilogy follows key characters whom you come to know and care about as a reader. Not only is their journey intriguing, but the underlying questions worth considering. Very good read.
Enjoyed the continued story, and while some of its predictable, it managed to surprise me at the end. Still can't stand the unedited read, spelling and grammar errors. Wish it had been reviewed.
I felt like this book started to pick up and delve a little more into some interesting world building, but it was more hinted at than anything and the resolution felt very underwhelming.
Hated the ending. Nothing was ever explained and for that 3 stars. It needed to go a little further into the future to give an explanation to how life was gonna go now.
Just finished the third book and hopefully I can get my life back as these books hijacked it. Once I started with this series I got nothing else done until I finished it. I fell in love with the characters as well as the storyline. I hated to see the series end. If you like dystopian fiction do yourself a favor and read this series.
