CHASE

The first time I saw Aimee Gilpin walk into a bar, it was love at first sight. She looks nothing like the women I usually go for, and everything like the woman I’d want to come home to every night. Then my best friend showed up and I had to let him pursue her. It was the right thing to do as a friend and business partner, but the wrong thing to do for my heart.

The second time I see Aimee walk into a bar, she has finally convinced my friend that she isn’t interested, and I was planning on drinking myself into oblivion to avoid calling her. She probably thinks I hate her. I tried to.

Tomorrow I’ll deal with my best friend and the company we built with his money and my brains.
Tonight, she’s mine.

AIMEE

The first time I saw Chase McKay at a bar, I thought I’d met the man of my dreams—I just didn’t recall the man of my dreams looking like the lead singer of a grunge band. Then as soon his friend showed up, Chase bolted like I was his worst nightmare.

The second time I see him in a bar, I can tell by the look in his eyes that we both regret his choice that first night. He has no idea that I just started working for the company that their company is about to start working with.

I don’t want to make things any more complicated than they already are, but I do want him like nobody’s business.

Tomorrow we’ll deal with the fact that Chase, his best friend and I will be working together.
Tonight, he’s mine.

Amazon Top 25 and USA Today bestselling author Kayley Loring spent many years as a screenwriter (under a different name) in Los Angeles before moving to the Pacific Northwest to live out her childhood dream of being a Disney heroine who talks and sings to woodland creatures. When not trying to keep animals alive, she’s writing steamy romantic comedy novels, obviously. She’s breathing cleaner air, writing dirtier words, and staring at her computer screen until her eyeballs dry out instead of prancing around Southern California in miniskirts and going to the hair salon. Still waiting for the woodland creatures to clean her house, though.

Read or listen to Kayley’s books when you want humor, heat, and heart. You’ll enjoy top-notch banter, strong heroines, lovable characters you’d want to know in real life and you’ll swoon over perfectly imperfect book boyfriends. All Kayley Loring books are steamy open door romance. Be sure to check out her next-level audiobooks!

*Read as part of The Brooklyn Boyfriends collection*

"We are twenty-seven and reckless and in love and reunited by the Wonder Wheel, and the only thing stopping me from dry humping Chase McKay in the middle of Luna Park is knowing that I’ll be able to come home to him every day and every night for the rest of my life."
Seriously, I don't know what to do with myself and these books. There's not one of them I don't think is perfect, there's not one main character I don't like, there's not one chapter I'm not either going awww or laughing my head off. Or trying to stop my Kindle from melting from sheer hotness.
Yep. I'm sure that's a thing.

"Chase reads me the way you read a book that you can’t put down, and I feel myself becoming a more interesting book because of it."
Damn you, Chase McKay, why are you so perfect? Why do you have to be hot, tattooed, looking like a freaking rock star, and even love Chris Cornell? Why do you have to be loyal, protective, and such a darling at the same time? I wish I could hate you, but all I want to do is find me someone just like you.

"And when you walked right up to me it felt like everyone and everything around us was dimming and fading out."
I spent much of this book wishing I were Aimee. Not only is she a great person, she has a wonderful best friend, a heart of gold, and the best family, but she is also driven, professional, good at her job. I absolutely loved her. She takes nothing for granted, she embraces the world. I kind of love her too.

"“You want to know what I thought when I first saw you?”
“Oh God, I don’t know. Do I? What?”
“I thought you were the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen, and I thought to myself: ‘Wow. So this is what love at first sight feels like.’”"

Chase and Aimee meet at a bar. A chance meeting between two people, but there's this instant thing. For her, it's first off because he's hot, but for him it's more than that, then and there. And when it seems like these two have hit it off and something's about to happen, in comes Chase's best friend and business partner Keaton trying to wow our Aimee here.

Long story short - he doesn't. And he's a real asshole. Not even the ending redeems him for me. Maybe his book does, I hope. For his sake. Because I would kick him in the balls after this one.

"I convinced myself that you were all wrong for me, and maybe you are. I convinced myself that I’d meet someone I like more than you, and maybe I still will. But I can’t seem to fall out of love with what could have been."
OK, so yes, it may be a bit insta-love thing, but there's nothing instant about them being together. You see, when Keaton, the rich guy who's used to getting all the ladies, gets between them, Chase backs down, because Chase doesn't think Aimee would ever choose him over Keaton. Chase is middle class, his parents own a restaurant and he's struggled to pay for everything in his life, including law school. Why would she ever pick him?
Because he's awesome, that's why.

"I know what I’d risk losing just to keep her, and it doesn’t even scare me. Because I know what I’m capable of building and rebuilding as long as I’m doing it for her. "
Once they realize what they feel about each other, and that it's not going anywhere, they have one night together, but that would never be enough. And then Aimee starts working at Chase and Keaton's office, and things get complicated. Even though the steamy office moments were definitely interesting.
Chase's dedication to his best friend, while he doesn't deserve it in my opinion, is admirable. But sometimes I just wanted to push him and tell him - you deserve her, go get her, screw the rest of the world.

"Every day. Every night. He’s mine."
The ending was just what they needed. And it was definitely what I wanted. What I needed.
Just like with good whisky, their love was all about taking a sip and closing your eyes, savoring it. And trusting sometimes the universe does throw good stuff your way.

Well.... I like Tonight You're Mine less than previous book in this series. I still love Keaton the best though.

Tonight You're Mine is more mellow. With the theme of love at the first sight, Miss Loring sets the story into sappy romantic. Chase is romantic. OTT romantic in my opinion. The romance between Chase and Aimee is quick and fast.

Keaton steals the show. I love Keaton! His book is the best one in the series.

Oh my lord, I have laughed and enjoyed reading this awesome story. The characters are written with so much personality and emotions.
Two random people meet in a bar and hit it off. They enjoy talking and he introduces her to his favorite Irish whiskey. The attraction is there and they both want to act on it, but it's not what happens. He's meeting his best friend and business partner and she's meeting her best friend. His friend shows and starts hitting on her and the first guy leaves. She spends the next month trying to convince him that she is not interested in him.
Chase is still interested Aimee but doesn't think it's best to call her. He goes to the bar to have a drink and in walks Aimee and Roxy, Aimee's best friend. One thing leads to another and a hot night in a swanky hotel. But there is a problem she didn't get to tell Chase before everything happened and before falling asleep decides to tell him in the morning when they wake. Only she wakes alone to a note.
The next time she sees him she is walking into the lobby of his business and he's with Keaton, his friend/business partner...

Girls walks into a bar, her eyes connect with a handsome stranger and the rest is history. Okay things don’t go exactly like that but Aimee and Chase do meet in a bar.

It is often said that when you meet your person, the one you are meant to be with you will just know. You will feel it in your heart body and mind. You will want to spend as much time as possible with them, know everything about them and miss them when you are not together. This may not happen the first time you meet them, it may build over time but sometimes it does happen instantly. This is what happens to Aimee and Chase.

Aimee walks into a bar to have drinks with a friend and meets Chase. He has this magnetic pull that draws her in straight away. He is freaking gorgeous, charismatic, ridiculously sexy and they enjoy uninhibited conversation together. He wants her and she wants him. The attraction and lust is dominant, he will be taking her home tonight and the anticipation is thrilling.

‘God, the way he’s looking up at me, with those dark heavy-lidded eyes and his head tilted. One arm is leaning against the bar, the rest of his body is open to me as I stand there next to him clutching my drink and clenching my thighs together.’

However, when his best mate shows up and also shows an interest in Aimee, Chase backs away and leaves. Confused much? Chase is a man who makes sacrifices and puts other people’s needs before his own. He wants Aimee but Keaton wants her too. Keaton is his best mate and business colleague, there is nothing that comes before that relationship. Even if it means stepping away from a girl he has never felt this strongly about before. Talk about frustrating! I could not understand Chase’s stance on this when he clearly should have been the one with Aimee.

One month later and Chase finds out that the pursuit of Aimee is over. Keaton has moved on with someone else. The temptation to contact her is dominating his thoughts, there is still no way he can be with his mate’s ex. Bro code and all that. Aimee takes the lead this time and sets out to find the man she has not been able to stop thinking about since that night they met. This time Chase will not be able to walk away.

‘My hunger for him is insatiable. It’s surprising and overwhelming and terrifyingly unfamiliar. Maybe it’s a good thing if we only have tonight. I don’t know that my body could even handle much more of this. But then again - before tonight, was this body of mine ever truly alive?’

And OMG these two are smoking hot, off the charts sexy together. It would be fair to say that their naked coupling was everything and more. This should erase any doubts that Chase had about breaking the bro code with Keaton. One thing is clearly evident to them both, one night together will never be enough. There is no going back now and Chase knows this could change everything for him.

‘I want her. I want all of her. I want to do everything with this woman, and we won’t sleep until I have.’

Well, this was a freaking addictive schmexy read! I could not put this down and I read this in one sitting so be warned, you may need to read this during a weekend. Loved this :-)

This is my second book by Kayley Loring. The first was Come Back to Bed, and I loved it. I went into Tonight You’re Mine with high expectations, and I’m happy to report that I wasn’t disappointed.

Plot overview: Chase and Aimee meet in a bar and sparks fly immediately. Lots of sexy instalust ensues. Matters get complicated, however, when Chase’s friend and business partner also takes a liking to Aimee, and Aimee later takes a job working for Chase’s company (unbeknownst to him).

First of all, off topic, I just need to say that I have naturally curly hair and no matter how hard I work on it, it NEVER looks as good as this cover model’s hair. Men shouldn’t be allowed to have hair that pretty! It’s not fair! Men already have a superior ability to open pickle jars, not to mention the whole peeing standing up thing. So I think men should leave beautiful, flowing curly hair to women. It seems only fair, you know? But I digress…

Now, I’ll be right up front about this next thing: This book includes what some of you might call instalove. Personally, I think it’s more of an instalust situation, which I don’t have a problem with. But Chase does have some “love at first sight” thoughts when he’s first talking to Aimee. It didn’t bother me, because they didn’t immediately jump from “hi, nice to meet you” to “let’s settle down and have babies together.” They did actually spend some time getting to know each other before things got super serious. But if you’re a hater of anything remotely instalove-y, well, this one might not be your cuppa.

As was the case with Come Back to Bed, Tonight You’re Mine is full of fun, witty banter. And y’all know how much I adore fun, witty banter. And Chase and Aimee are great leading characters. They’re smart, good at their jobs (yay, competence porn!) and are never TSTL jerks at any point.

My only complaint (and it's a minor one) is that I wanted Chase and Aimee to be straight with Chase’s business partner from the start. It irked me a smidge that Chase seemed to coddle his buddy, and honestly, it was unnecessary. But while something like that might’ve really chapped my ass in another book with another author, it didn’t keep me from enjoying the story. I credit Kayley Loring’s fun writing style for that. A talented author can make just about anything work, I’ve found.

So, long-story-short, this was a fun rom com/ contemporary romance that had a great balance of hilarity and angsty, push-and-pull between the main characters. It’s definitely worth a read.

Well, I think Kayley Loring has officially landed herself on my auto buy, favorite authors list! This book was freaking perfect! It was a one sitting read for me, which I rarely do anymore. I stayed up way too late, but I just didn’t want it to end. Loring does a fantastic job with her descriptions and expertly placed humor that made it a truly entertaining read.

The first chapter immediately pulls you into the book. It was a picture-perfect meet cute between Chase and Aimee. Honestly, I’m not a fan of love at first sight, but this book makes me believe that these two had it in spades. They had chemistry through the roof. I absolutely loved their banter! They were both wonderful characters, and I swooned so much for Chase’s character. The whole book was a sweet, fun read, and I would highly recommend this!

I really like the author

She writes a great story. I enjoy the characters and their relationships. They all great standalone tales, but some are about friends in other books. Highly recommend any of them.

My least favourite from this series so far. It was an OK read and all, but to be honest Keaton's issues and personality kind of overshadowed the main characters and their romance for me.

He was definitely a prick here, but the kind whose character I enjoy digging deeper into. That, paired with knowledge that the next book focuses on him and Roxy, who was also a fantastic character here, made me want to finish reading about Chase and Aimee as fast as possible so I could start on the nest book immediately.

That probably wasn't author's intention here xD

I was also a tad irritated that the grand confrontation between Chase and Keaton, that had been years in the making apparently, came down to a few blows "boys will be boys" style instead of them actually having it out and having a conversation.

Anyway - this still had many steamy and adorable moments, so it's worth a try nonetheless!

And now onto Keaton and Roxy's story, I'm truly hoping it will steal my heart.

I'm so sad and disappointed! I read two of Kayley Loring's books a month or so ago and LOVED them. This one didn't do it for me. It was basically just a bunch of sex. The story-line was annoying me too. They constantly were talking or thinking about sex. That's just a turn-off for me in a book. I need more than that! - Which is saying something because I don't have an issue with steamy books.

Hopefully the next book by Kayley Loring that I pick up, will be much better!!

Decent read. They were clearly in love, but I didn't like how Chase put his buddy Keaton's needs before his own regarding Aimee. It created a lot of problems and at 27 years old, Keaton should have been grown up enough to handle it.

3.5 stars!

Another fun, romantic and heartfelt book from Kayley Loring!

The third book in the Brooklyn Book Boyfriends series, this is a complete standalone, with no character crossover, except a random mention of a character from a previous book, so feel free to dive in – though do read the first two books, just because they are also fantastic reads.

Chase and Aimee meet in a local bar, and for both of them it is pretty much love at first sight. They are instantly attracted, and their banter and flirting is fantastic. Until Chase’s best friend and business partner, Keaton enters the bar and sets his sights on Aimee. Doing what he thinks is the right thing, Chase backs off and leaves the two of them to it, leaving the bar, and his broken heart behind.

It takes Aimee a month to politely get rid of Keaton’s attention, and that’s when she learns that her new job will be working with the two boys on their start-up company. Awkward! But before she has a chance to let either of the boys know, she meets Chase again in the same bar, and all of that chemistry comes flaring back to life (not that it ever really left), and they agree to spend one night together – one night that is fun, sweet, meaningful, sexy, and super passionate, and that rocks both of their worlds. Chase is ready for more, but everything between them is turned on its head when she surprises both boys when she shows up to work the next day.

It’s an interesting set-up, establishing a forbidden-ish/loving-from-afar situation that is full of chemistry and longing. We all know how the story is going to end, the fun is in watching it happen as all of the flirting, meaningful stares and secret kisses create a wonderful sense of excited anticipation.

“I convinced myself that you were all wrong for me, and maybe you are. I convinced myself that I’d meet someone I like more than you, and maybe I still will. But I can’t seem to fall out of love with what could have been.”

Yes, the ‘love at first sight’ thing is a little extreme, but I was happy to go along with it, and I was fully on board with Chase and Aimee. What I love about these two together is the way they don’t hold back their attraction. They want each other, they don’t hide it from each other, and their honest and upfront declarations are fantastic, especially when they finally make the decision to go all in. It’s so sweet.

“You want to know what I thought when I first saw you?”
“Oh God, I don’t know. Do I? What?”
“I thought you were the most beautiful woman I’d ever seen, and I thought to myself: ‘Wow. So this is what love at first sight feels like.’”

I could have done without the whole Keaton issue. I would have preferred Chase to stand strong and pursue Aimee from the beginning, but it’s a weird dynamic that the two friends have, and watching Chase find the strength to stand up to his best friend and claim the woman that he loves was a great part of his journey.

This was a quick read, and a really enjoyable one. A great addition to the series, and a good lead-in to Keaton and Roxy’s story up next!

3.5 stars.

This is a story of love at first sight, friendship and sacrifice. The first time Chase McKay sees the woman with the beautiful blue eyes in the bar he knows she is his. When Aimee sees the long haired ,tattooed Chase, it's like a magnetic pull and she finds herself crossing over to meet him. Everything is great until his best friend, Keaton shows up and takes over. Chase back away and they don't connect again for an entire month. What follows is secrets, hidden feelings, and more sacrifice. It was a little frustrating how Chase handled Keaton with kid gloves. However, it worked in his favor. I wanted him to man up and be upfront about Aimee in the beginning but that would make it a different story. I liked this story so, props to the author. There were some ho scenes between Chase and Aimee. Also meeting both sets of parents was fun and will make you laugh. I loved the little epilogue.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Ohh Chase and Aimee how I adored them! Kayley Loring delivers a steamy, fun rom-com in Tonight You’re Mine! I couldn’t get enough of the witty dialogue and fantastic chemistry between these characters!

This one is a bit of an office romcom dynamic and absolutely loved it. Chase and Aimee have one hot and steamy hookup only to to be starting back at each across the boardroom table the following morning! Cue the fireworks!! If Aimee and Chase were on fire the night before, it only amps up from there with every look, touch, caress and there is no going back!

Mackenzie Cartwright and Teddy Hamilton continue to narrate this series and are phenomenal at what they do. The timing, pacing, emotion, and dialogue was all done perfectly.

I am looking forward to Roxy and Keaton next!

Audiobook review. Chase was being noble when he let his dream girl Aimee grab the attention of his best friend. Aimee felt the spark too but good old fashioned manners made her miss her shot.

I loved when these two got together. It was frustrating at times to read about their holding back but they were just genuinely good people trying to do the right thing. Their conflict was palatable and it translated well to the narration. Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright were a really good match for these two. Their performance left nothing on the table.

Meh! So this is my fifth Kayley Loring book and three were AMAZING and two were duds. This one was just mostly boring. I did finish it but I have to say that I skimmed it. I liked the Midwest charm that Aimee demonstrated but there was too much weirdness or non-drama-portrayed-as-drama.

Inappropriate: The first night Chase and Aimee hook up and Aimee not mentioning she’s the consultant who will be leading his company’s transition the next day.

Inappropriate: Aimee being miffed that Chase doesn’t want to date her while she’s working at his company for one short month. Her attitude around this was bi-polar. She actually seemed kinda unstable overall.

Inappropriate: Aimee going into her consulting job drunk on three margaritas.

Weird: The outfit situation where she dressed like Joan Cusack from Working Girl. Then wore a sexy dress the next day.

Weird: Flying home to Michigan with Chase to get rid of a squatter at her parents’ rental property. Like that is some seriously enmeshed codependent rescuer weirdness!

I have really loved three of Loring’s other books but this one doesn’t hold a candle to them. I will keep trying because I feel like this is Reading Vegas and I still have good odds of getting Jackpots at the Kayley Loring Books “slots.”

My trifecta of favorite Loring books thus far:

GOLD: Come Back to Bed

SILVER: Sleeper

BRONZE: Rebound With Me

I am quickly becoming a huge fan of Kayley Loring. I love her writing style and the characters she creates and the stories she writes. Tonight You're Mine was equally as awesome as the other couple of books I have read by her.

This book focuses on Chase and Aimee who meet one night in a bar and have a great connection, but it veers off course when Chase's best friend and business partner Keaton shows up and also is interested in Aimee so Chase backs off. Aimee and Chase can't seem to forget each other and Aimee has no interest in Keaton, but it certainly makes things awkward moving forward, especially when Aimee ends up working briefly for Chase and Keaton's company.

Chase and Aimee had great chemistry and I absolutely loved them together. I loved that Chase was willing to do anything to help Aimee and her family and that he had no problem expressing his feelings. His relationship with Keaton was certainly complex and although Keaton certainly needed a reality check a lot sooner, I am glad he and Chase were able to also work things out and have a stronger friendship. I would definitely highly recommend this book!

OK, this story captivated me from the beginning and I couldn't put it down! I seriously loved the characters and Chase...swoon!! I love how he stepped aside to let his friend take a chance on her, even though he felt an immediate connection with her! Author Kayley Loring pulls at your heart and there is full-on angsty goodness! I fell hard for these characters and loved how their story developed. I adore Teddy Hamilton and Mackenzie Cartwright, and they did NOT disappoint on the audible narration! This story was narrated so well and with great emotion and nuances. 5 stars!

5 Star review of Tonight You’re Mine by Kayley Loring
Kayley Loring is a new author to me and I have absolutely no idea why that is. From the first page until the last she reeled me in hook, line and sinker; I loved this story.
Chase McKay is too swoon worthy for words, I fell for him from the start and he only got better as the story progresses. From the moment his eyes meet Aimee Gilpin in his regular bar, he knows that she is something truly special. Their connection is instantaneous and the chemistry between them intense.
However, when his best friend joins him, Chase immediately recognizes that Keation is also interested in Aimee and being the man that he is , he bows out.
There were times throughout this book that I really wanted to shake sense into Keaton, it took till almost the end of the book for me to finally start liking him, he was a jerk for most of the story, pure and simple.
Luckily fate works in mysterious ways and trying to drown his sorrows, Chase returns to the bar where he first met Aimee. When she too turns up hoping to find him, they both know that it is meant to be despite Chase’s misgivings about Keaton.
There were times I laughed, and almost screamed with frustration but throughout this book I fell more and more for Chase and Aimee.
This is a feel good book that I could have continued reading and I would love to see another story about this couple a few years down the track, here’s hoping.

‘I can literally see the wheels turning in my mom’s head and cartoon hearts flying around as she’s picturing what our kids will look like.

“True dat,” my dad says.

“Dad. Don’t ever say ‘true dat.’ Ever.”

“Sorry, honey. Word.”

I adore books with well-developed side characters and loving friends and family, and in her books, Kayley Loring delivers these in spades. Tonight You’re Mine is yet another fabulously funny romcom that I read in one sitting because I. Just. Couldn’t. Put. it. Down.

Chase and Aimee meet in a bar and it’s attraction at first sight. But then Keaton, Chases’s business partner and best friend arrives. He’s used to getting what he wants, and he’s decided that Aimee is going to be his. So Chase, the friend who’s always used to coming second, leaves.

Fast-forward and Chase is regretting his decision. Especially after he finds out Aimee politely rebuffed every single one of Keaton’s advances. So when he meets Aimee again, all bets are off and they have a wild night together. Everything is perfect, until he shows up at work the next morning and discovers their new hire is… Yep, you’ve guessed it, Aimee, and if that wasn’t bad enough, Keaton still thinks he’s in with a chance with her.

Tonight You’re Mine is a hot and heavy page-turner of a book. It’s high steam, low angst and I know you won’t want to put it down. Go read it now!

The beginning of this book had me hooked. Kayley pulls in the angst right off the bat and it was perfection. I'll admit I was a bit impatient through a few chapters. Momma just wanted this romance and flowers. But lord when it happened it was so SWOONY! Loved this book and highly recommend it!

Well-written book but not my cup of tea.

Hero’s a startup founder who looks like a grunge singer.

Heroine is supposedly a brilliant consultant and does seem competent at her work but is overall so whiny, immature and desperate with the guy that I was put off. Too bad. I was excited to see Loring finally write a heroine who has her career figured out, but the career bit doesn’t matter if she’s otherwise irritating.

The plot is straightforward and a well-done quasi love triangle (no cheating and no one is really misled).

Tonight You’re Mine is a fun, fiesty, sweet and steamy read. The story follows Chase, the CEO of a startup company who looks like he should be in a grunge band but actually has a law degree. When he locks eyes with Aimee across a bar and they strike up a conversation, the chemistry is instantaneous even thougn they are opposites in many ways. Unfortunately, when Chase’s friend Keaton joins him at the bar, Keaton unknowingly steps in Chase’s way of flirting with Aimee and Chase steps aside since Keaton is the more obvious fit for the poised, sweet woman he just met. Aimee never had any intention of dating Keaton, so when she and Chase see each other again, they agree to share one night together since they know things would become awkward between Chase and Keaton if they were to actually date. But when Aimee begins to work at the company Chase and Keaton run together, things quickly become complicated.

I loved how this book focuses on two people who don’t seem like they’d be a match, but they fit perfectly together. The connection is instantaneous; it’s the circumstances that keep them from being together. Chase is most definitely a swoon-worthy character - his feelings for Aimee never falter, he just doesn’t want to mess up his relationship with his best friend by pursuing her. The book is just a light, fun read with plenty of steam mixed with some humor and very minimal angst. I’ve read several of Kayley Loring’s books before and this is my favorite thus far.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Not really understanding all this Chase and Keaton drama. Just not buying into why it matters at all in the large scheme of everything. Hate Keaton as a result and was just ready to not have to hear about his whiney ways every other chapter. Even the main character is over it! Too much time spent on that where it seems like nothing much else really happens.

IMO Kayley Loring is the gold standard in romance writers. She's really funny, but more than that, she paints pictures that make simple little love stories come to life. Her descriptions make you experience, not just read about what is happening, her characters are well understood but not just through words, the chemistry is undeniable, and any angst or conflict is short lived so that you don't feel tortured. Ms. Loring's subtle skill is so effective that it's not what you notice, you just embrace the story.

I avoided this book for a while because of the cover. DON'T DO THAT! I didn't want to read about any bad boys right now, but Chase isn't a bad boy at all. He just likes his look—it's a little edgy—but he's really the perfect book boyfriend.

If you've suffered any 'romance story trauma' lately and need a nice light little read, this is the one for you. It's the sweet love story of a nice, smart, professional couple who find instalove and just want to be together. Barring a few minor obstacles they do get together, and it's yummy. There's very little angst or conflict, no love/hate, no push/pull or sardonic banter, they have no baggage, their parents are all alive and loving and supportive, and their careers are on track. Wow, that's a rarity in romance novels, isn't it?

What I really can't say enough about is the first 40% of the book. OMG, it is everything that we read romance stories for. I don't want to spoil even a speck of it for you, you just have to experience it for yourself. So well written and wonderful that you feel every bit of it in your heart and soul.

No spoilers here, but there's an alluring little scene that I just have to tell you about—Chase's advice to Aimee about savoring the flavor of Irish whiskey. An obvious metaphor for life, but Ms. Loring does it in such a visceral way. Chase says to Aimee, "Take a sip and close your eyes," and then she gets it. The description is so sensuous and seductive—her 'gorgeous eyes', the 'glass touching her lips', "I watch her respond to every smooth and warm, surprising flavor as it caresses her tongue—the fruity honeyed sweetness, the sherry and licorice and ginger, the peppery spice that erupts in her throat as she swallows, the hint of toffee that lingers… The union and explosion of unexpected soulmate flavors that can change the way you experience the world. It's like drinking music".
Who knew there was so much in Irish whiskey? And it makes me want to taste Redbreast Irish whiskey too. If I ever do that I will think of this scene for sure.

One of the best secondary characters in this story is Elaine Hoffman, Aimee's boss. She comes out with the funniest stuff that starts off as what you think will be sage insight from a middle aged woman who has lived a lot. But it always takes a surprising twist at the end that makes you do a double take and laugh. She's priceless. A brilliant creation by Ms. Loring.

So for sure give this book a try. I loved it and would definitely read it again. This is my fifth book by Ms. Loring, and I read them on KU, but I have gone back four out of five times to buy her books because I like them so much. I don't think you'll be disappointed if you like satisfying romance.
