Nikki Ashford had it all. Not only was she drop-dead gorgeous with a figure to match, but she was smart – a top student at one of the most elite high schools in town. Moreover, Nikki was used to getting her way. As an only child, she was spoiled rotten by parents who had worked their way out of the hood in order to give her everything she ever wanted. The only problem was that Nikki wanted clothes, money, jewelry... But at the top of the list was Quilon – who, shockingly, didn’t want Nikki. Unfamiliar with being denied what she wanted (and certainly not accustomed to being rejected by a man) Nikki is rattled by the notion that, for once in her life, she may not get what she wants. But not for long… Where there’s a will, there’s a way, and Nikki is willing to do whatever is takes to make Quilon hers – up to and including murder.
This novella was a quick and enjoyable read. The story centers around Nik, a spoiled and self-centered brat who believes everything should revolve around her. After having her heart broken by Rico, the neighborhood guy, she heads off to college. There, she meets her roommate Nova and a guy named Q. While Nova and Q start dating, Nik secretly pursues Q behind Nova’s back.
Nik’s character is wild and unpredictable, which is puzzling considering her upbringing. Despite being spoiled, she was raised by both loving parents, making her extreme behavior even more baffling.
Overall, this was a good filler read, and I’m eager to check out more works by this author.
This book was really good. The tempo stayed the same. The characters stayed the same. It kept me interested the whole time. "Like when is it going to happen?"
Nikki had gone behind her Nova’s back for YEARS!!! The crimes she committed was not worth it! Q has gone on with his life and now Nikki still will be without a man. It definitely wasn’t worth her freedom.
Initially I didn't think I would be able to enjoy this book because the characters were so young, but this was a true page Turner! Great job young author! I look forward to reading more of your work!
I just started reading rashima books yesterday I'm really a fan, All her books is page turners. Like I love all this ratchet mess baby on to the next one
I occasionally enjoy a good urban fiction book. This one was NOT it. Due to the A.I. narration, many words that could have made sense, because of the "literal" pronunciation, simply did not. The characters were young, immature and the book was quite predictable as well as preposterous. The tasteless and ghetto writing resulted in an unintelligibly written book.
