A soon-to-be-retired police officer with a fiery temper. An unpopular murdered victim. Can a small town bakery owner solve the case before all hell breaks loose?
Meghan Truman is enjoying the wave of attention her presence on social media is attracting to her bakery. Particularly her lemon tarts which are getting the most likes, shares and comments.
Meghan is happy to donate some of her lemon tarts to celebrate a local Sandy Bay police officer who is soon retiring. Things go awfully wrong when the night of celebration ends in the murder of a thorn-in-the-flesh of almost everyone in town.
But who would dislike the murdered victim so much to want to end a life?
Can Meghan help her boyfriend, Detective Jack Irvin, connect the dots and solve this murder investigation in the nick of time?
Book 12 in the Bestselling Sandy Bay Cozy Mystery series, which can be read in one to two hours! Perfect for a lunchtime read or on a commute to/from work. If you want to enjoy a quick light-hearted read, with an amateur female sleuth, mouth-watering culinary desserts and a gripping murder mystery with a touch of romance, then you'll love Meghan Truman and all the quirky characters in Sandy Bay.
Not the best book in the series by far. Things are happening in town that just don’t make sense, and I mean literally don’t make any sense. From inept police detectives to everyone being a suspect this novel lacks.
Sometimes mysteries are hard to solve. And sometimes not, such as this case. Though it would be nice if the main character would actually sleuth rather than just have things happen and report them to her detective boyfriend. There is very little substance in this aspect of the book.
Overall, not really a good read. I enjoyed parts of it but am just overall unimpressed with the book as a whole. That doesn’t mean I won’t continue the series, just that this one missed the mark by a fair amount.
Lemon Tarts and Fiery Darts (Sandy Bay #12), my thirteenth read from author Amber Crewes. Well-written & enjoyable. another cute, clean cozy mystery. I really enjoy the development of the supporting characters over the course of the series. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. I was impressed and enjoyed the vocal variety & inflections of narrator Elena Marino who has become the voice for Meghan Truman. I look forward to reading more in this series & from this author. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).
When one of the nicest officers at the precinct was retiring, he was suspected of killing the town's pain-in-the neck, Meghan couldn't believe that her boyfriend's mentor would lose it that much--even though the man was known to have a volatile temper. With her sleuthing buddy Jackie, Meghan managed to get to the bottom of it.
The showdown was the non-dangerous kind, well if you're not Meghan maybe it seemed that way. She had a truly sweet surprise thanks to an influencer online too. Another fun tale in one of my favorite cozy towns!
Officer Bradley Green is retiring, and at his retirement party, he has an argument with Chandler Washington, who is later found murdered by a dart. Amber Crewes describes how Meghan discovers the murderer with suspense and intrigue. I recommend this book and look forward to the next one. Happy reading ! 😊
Things in Sandy Bay are busy. Meghan’s boyfriend asks her to bring lemon tarts to officer Greenes retirement party. Tensions rise during the party between chandler and officer Greene. After a dart contest that Chandler’s team won there is a fight. Later Chandler is found murdered. After a lot of twists and turns a surprise ending. A fun read.
I enjoyed this quick read cozy mystery novella. Sandy Bay is abuzz after IT police department employee Chandler Washington is found dead. Truly Sweet bakery owner Meghan uses her sleuthing skills along with her detective boyfriend Jack to help solve the case. Chandler and Police Officer Green had a big fight that many witnessed during a dart game at a local bar. There were some twisty turns and I didn’t figure out who was the culprit until the end. I look forward to returning to Sandy Bay for another sleuthing adventure with Meghan.
