This is an intense story of a relationship between a Muslim girl, Zoya, and a Hindu Professor, Alok. This relationship leads her to think about the social problems of her community and achieve the goals of her life. With the help of Professor Alok, she achieves her goals and fulfils her ambitions. Her two close friends Khushi and Sana help her during the difficult phases of her life. Ultimately, Zoya emerges as a winner in life. This tragic novel also deals with the current social problems of Muslims.
This book depicts the struggle if a girl from Orthodox family to IPS. Beginner friendly language and a little touchy plot. Since I am a Muslim, I wanted to add few things here. The importance of Hijab and Burqa are potrayed in a different way. Islam is not a religion of oppression. Women are considered higher than men and we lots of privilages. The concept of triple talaq is something i would agree because even some people follow it in a different way. But agan there are two types triple talaq. Even before the bill is passed, we had a different view. Its all the effect of paid media who potrays us in a different way. But proper research might have done to avoid such. This is an uplifting story of a young woman whose name struggle through her community and society is portrayed in a poignant manner.
As a young girl, Zoya often stands out in her class and she's never shy of speaking out the truth. Even if it brings her troubles with her parents, whose love for her siblings is definitely a discrimination.
What follows is Zoya's live affair with her Hindu proffesor and the obvious caste issues that occurs along with how the young woman motivates herself and her friends, turning into a fine lady who still achieves her dreams.

"What will society think of us if you do this thing." This is the common line that we usually get to hear from our parents or relatives. We are stopped from doing certain activities or taking some actions at many points of our life to avoid the bickering of society and mainting the so called respect in the community. Since we live in a society, we have to go through it's rules, but are we actually happy by following those rules? The book "Hello Sir Myself Zoya" by Sunil Kumar has brought up this matter in his book. This mainly talks about the depravities of the Muslim Community, about their lifestyle and how miserable their lives are among the several restrictions. The issue discussed here is true to a limit about the muslim community that they are vigilant in their decisions and the scene of triple talaq too presented in this book giving a scenario of a young illiterate man divorcing his wife in the stereotyped way i.e. verbally. On the contrary, the truth is far different from this cliched opinion. This type of talaq is not acceptable even in Islam given in a state of aggression with no one as witness. So definitely the situation portrayed in the book exists but surely is not the whole truth resulting from the lack of awareness in some muslims themselves. And another thing is that all the hindus are not at all given such type of indepence shown in the book. Though it is a fiction but having the leniency to wear jeans, shorts and top is not what independence looks like even for a hindu family. Well coming back to the book, the story is about the protagonist Zoya, who wants to complete her graduation before getting into the world of married life. Her parents understand her and keep postponing the date of her marriage with her cousin Sarfaraz. Here Zoya started getting attracted towards her Alok Sir due to everyday encounters with him. But he leaves the college as he gets a permanent job in Mumbai. Zoya was creastfallen but continues with her studies. Then after her graduation she continues her studies further by joining classes for her Masters degree and in the last year her wedding is fixed. She herself now cannot deny this marriage, but her friend Khushi did something which showed the reality of Sarfaraz and evilness. Now the question is how will Zoya manage to escape from this evil? How will she be able to achieve her aim in life? Will she be able to live the same respectable life after the what she does in order to save her? What will be the outcome of that situation? Read this book to know the difficult journey of Zoya's life. The cover and the title is quite apt according to the story. The narration is simple with certain grammatical errors. One thing I found was that all the other characters were overshadowed by the main protagonist, instead they should have gone parallelly. But all in all it was a good one time read book, recommended to beginners.
The book holds a story if a Muslim Girl, Zoya and a Hindu Man, Alok, a professor. Zoya is very ambitious yo her studies. She wants to make her family feel proud of her. But little she knew that it's gonna be difficult in a society like ours. Zoya's parents, being supportive, let het study and allowed her to complete her graduation degree. It was in her college when she met her professor, Alok. On one hand, Zoya and Alok were gaining feelings for each other while on other hand, Zoya's parents decided to marry her with her cousin named Sarfaraz.

🌷 My Opinion About The Book:
I loved the title and cover of the book. Both are very appropriate and goes well with the book. The cover is quite catchy. The plot is well written and I loved it but there is a lack of execution in the story. The language being beginners friendly , the book is quite easy to read but it's not engaging and Interesting. At many places I lost interest in reading.
.
I appreciate the author for picking up this strong topic for his book. This story is not only of any Muslim Girl, but a lot of girls in our society experience the same. This book is just like a mirror to our society. The book has easy language and quite good narration. However, there are some editing issues which must be taken care of.
.
Overall, for me it's an average read. I loved the topic, loved the plot. I would surely love to read the next book by author. I wish to see another strong topic with error free editing. Good Luck.
.
🌷Recommendation:
The book is recommended to the beginners. The easy language will help then understand the plot easily.
It is really disheartening to see the plights of women especially in the communities which shouts for Aazadi ( from God knows who) but can't aazaad the ladies of their own family from a particular clad clothing and the freedom to choose any life partner or career for that matter.
The story revolves around a young, ambitious girl Zoya who harbours huge dreams of making it big in her life and also works assiduously for it. But due to the orthodox and narrow mindedness of her family that one would expect when a female from her community fells in love with a male Hindu, she has to suffer various hardships. Professor Alok supports her wholeheartedly and she somehow develops sentiments for him. But her life again reaches a low point when her parents fixes her marriage with her own cousin Sarfaraz. What happens next? Grab the book to find out.
The novel is penned really well and articulate. It conveys the deeply embedded horrors of the idiotic and senseless ideologies of some beings. It also shows the readers where the problem lies. Some people from a specific sect go gaga and carry out varied kinds of atrocities on the innocent beings of other religion without acknowledging the shortcomings and loopholes in their own makeshift ways. The book is a brave and an outstanding attempt to highlight the same intrinsic weaknesses in the thought process of such recalcitrant beings. There are instances where the story makes one quite emotional on witnessing the sorry state of affairs.
A must read book to comprehend the miseries faced by the helpless women belonging to the particular group.

‘Hello Sir Myself Zoya’ by Sunil Kumar is a story that revolves around Zoya an ambitious girl who wants to achieve great heights in life. She always wanted to complete her studies first but one day her parents decide to get her married off to her cousin but she somehow convinces her parents to let her study. But there comes a time when her aunt is not ready to compromise on the marriage and even questions her mother about why Zoya has to get so much education. With all the stress going on around her marriage Zoya takes extreme step of leaving her house. Where will Zoya go? Will Zoya be able to fulfill her dream of completing her education and achieve something big in life? To know read ‘Hello Sir Myself Zoya’ My Thoughts: The plot discusses various social issues which revolve in our society such as triple talaq, Hindu-Muslim controversy, etc. We get to see how these issues can adversely affect the women and deteriorate the whole life of not only the women but also of the whole family. Why is it that women don’t have the right to live her life as per wishes? These issues are brought to light by the author. Characters are well developed. I liked how Zoya is really dedicated towards her dreams and even after facing so many problems she never gave up on those dreams. Even when her family was not doing well her family supported her to fulfill her dreams which are commendable. Zoya is really lucky to inspiring & supportive family and friends in her life who supported her till the end. Language is simple and lucid. Book cover and the title of the book are apt to the plot of the book. Overall, I must say that this book will provide motivation to the readers and bring social awareness related to the problems in the society.
The story revolves around a Muslim girl, Zoya and her fight to the obstacles given by the society. Brought up in a conservative Muslim family the society does not allow Zoya to continue her higher studies. To achieve her goals and fulfil her ambitions Zoya goes against her family to continue her studies. In college Zoya meets Alok sir, a Hindu professor. The attraction between them turns into love which adds more problems into Zoya’s life. With the help of professor Alok, will Zoya emerge as a winner in life? Well, you have to read the novel to know the rest.
Hello Sir Myself Zoya is a fast-paced novel with a lucid language and pretty fast storyline. Kumar has left no stone unturned to keep the readers intrigued till the end. The family drama, the dilemma of the protagonist, the social tension adds all the additional dramatic quotients that were needed to make the novel engaging.
The social problems have taken the front seat in the book here and there. How the social stigma can ruin a family’s hard-earned respect and reputation is shown in the book. Kumar was bold enough to raise his voice against some prevalent social issues like- Hindu-Muslim relationship and its consequences, futility of Triple Talaq system, etc.
Talking about the characters, as the story is written from Zoya’s point of view, her character overshadowed others. According to me the story of the male protagonist was neglected and maybe that’s why their chemistry was off. Sarfaraz was cruel enough to make you shiver whenever he came into action. Sana and Khushi’s character failed to leave any long-term impression. However, Sana’s letters were successful to make me feel sad about her.
Overall, the novel is an average one time read. I appreciate the author for coming up with a book that deals with the difficulties of a Muslim girl and showing her struggle. However, the execution could have been better. If you are a beginner, you may give the book a chance.

‘Tasks that are remained uncompleted in our lives are always remembered better than the completed ones’
The language is really easy and lucid. Writing is flowy which makes the book a perfect page turner. Narrations are vivid that help the reader in visualizing the whole scene. Characters are well sketched and dialogues are well penned down. The theme of book highlighting women empowerment through education is highly appreciation. How a women commands respect, power and money through her education in the society is well portrayed. Also, there is a jab at the evils prevailing in both Hindu and Muslim religions
The cover page attracted me in the ways unknown. I felt as if I know the girl on cover page and want to read the story she is willing to share. Also, the title is so interesting. The quality of pages and printing is also good. The font size, style and spacing facilitate in speed reading the book.
If you are looking for a page turner which has some really good food for thought, embedded in the story with lots of ups and downs, this book is definitely for you!
‘I want to search a different planet worth living, better than this earth. A planet where there is no religion, no human disparities, no wars, no boundaries , no social curtailments, no gender discrimination, only love for humanity should be there.’
This was a beautiful sunset And my eyes were wet , Why I could not get ? Was that a mirage I met ? 🥺🖤
🦋 It's a poignant story of a relationship between a Muslim girl Zoya and Hindu professor Alok with whoes help she achieves her goals and fulfill her ambitions . This tragic novel also deal with the certain social problems of Muslims .
🦋 This imaginative and delightful story of Idel love and the marvelous adventure of protagonist show us the realistic picture of our society.
🦋 Author has beautifully expressed the profound theme with well mannered depection of characters , setting , conflict in lucid language style .
🦋 It indeed filled me with excitement from the beginning to the end . It proceed at a fast pace and illustrate repeatedly the social challenges. The ending was totally unwonted for me and put me in pensive grudge. Rommended to those who love reading love stories .
The story starts with an ordinary Muslim household in Muslim society, a shopkeeper father turning his blood and sweat into one to provide his family basic needs for survival in this cruel world. Zoya, a normal girl who belongs to Muslim community wants to support his family financially by doing a normal job. Zoya wants to complete his graduation but her family is not allowing her to go to college. Finally, she convince his parents but her parents said she can go to college only wearing a burkha and with her friend Sana. In college she meet khushi, the trio have fun in college and time passes normally but, suddenly her khala (MOSI) asked her mother to give her to me by doing a nikka between zoya and sarfaraz. Zoya was literally shocked while listening to her, she thought how can she marry a person whom she always see him under a lens of brotherhood and a family member and she always called him using the word Bhai, this is one of the biggest problems in the Muslim community to marry his or her own family members and author has describe this problem very accurately in the book. Again she convinced her parents to postpone the marriage until she complete her graduation but they asked “Is completing graduation is bigger than marriage?” but they asked her to get good marks in exams. In college she met Alok, her teacher, a good-looking, handsome man in his 20s, and they feel attraction to each other and again time passes normally. When the date of marriage of zoya came near, some dark secrets came in the hands of zoya and she escaped from his Mumbai, where again she met alok and started preparing for UPSC exam living in the same room or you can say a living-relationship. On the other Sana had gone married amir who works in gulf, using the place gulf author how ISIS has converted a place and lives of people living there into hell. In, India zoya has passed UPSC in a year, which is very illogical and unrealistically, how can person who passed his post-graduation with just 60%, who has no knowledge about outside from his sphere. She becomes an IPS and the story becomes more interesting when it proceeds further I don’t like how the story was too fast paced, literally too fast paced comparing any book I have read in my entire life which make story too fast because of this reader thinks that’s the book is going to end soon which is most horrible feeling in a reader. It makes story too griping simultaneously too loose. When Hamid got kidnapped by some people I think it will last for some 5-10 pages and it will make story more suspenseful but he just finished the entire scene just in single page and that I had a feeling of being betrayed by the author. Author’s writing style is good and fast, not too cheesy or crisp fully balanced. The magic of creating scenes in the readers mind quickly is the quality of the writer, the describing of problems in Muslims community and comparing them with Hindus as well trying to say the differences between a Hindu and Muslim household and marvelous. His focuses on giving education more importance than marriage, and how she become an inspiration using the tool “Education” was too good.
Hello Sir Myself Zoya by Sunil Kumar. This work talks about Zoya, a Muslim girl who wants to pursue her dream to become an IPS officer. She wants to make her parents proud. She wants to become a role model for her community people instead receives a lot of trouble because of them. She completes her post-graduate studies with lots of struggles. She is studious so her parents support her. Soon she falls in love with a Hindu professor, Alok. Everything goes well until her marriage is arranged by the family. Will she achieve her dream? What about her love. The whole story weaves around Zoya and her acquaintances. The author concentrated on various issues that a woman faces in this community. He talked about triple Talaq, marriage, education rights, riots between two communities. I accept all that happens in our society but I think that the author should have done a deep study on Islam. He mentioned through some characters that Islam doesn't give many rights to women which is completely wrong. In Islam, women have all right. Especially in marriage if the bride is not interested that marriage should be cancelled. Forcing their daughter to marry is haram. In Talaq without the consent of the bride, Talaq will not be accepted. If both male and female agree there is a proper procedure to get a divorce. Talaq in one sitting out of anger is not accepted. I find it misleading. I agree all these happen, but that is not what Islam is about. This is a stereotypical idea of people. Each one of us is following a religion as we oblige to it. In my opinion, 'Every religion teaches good things to support humanity'. But, now many people use religion as their weapon to hide their mistakes. They use religion as their tool to survive in this world. Many rulers use religion to dominate their political power People who are in a ruling position or those who have the higher authorities they changed everything. The author should have concentrated on that criteria than accusing the religion. There a dialogue by a character, "what gave this religion to me except pain?" Religion is used as a tool to achieve many things. Those who have the authority used it for their benefits. The struggle that Zoya faces is what each woman faces in this world, especially middle-class girls. Each one has lots of expectations and we want to achieve them. The author delicately pointed out all these things in his work. I recommend this one for beginners. It is simple and easy to read. It is fast paced novel. The chapters are small so one can finish it in one sitting. There are some points I find delude but other than that it is a nice work with the simple story of a girl who wants to stand on her own.
"Hello Sir Myself Zoya" narrates the story of a Muslim girl who was ambitious & was different from any other girl. The story starts with Zoya escaping from her wedding & she remembers her life in those few years how she convinced her parents to get education, regarding her friends & how she met Alok Sir. The story is all about the struggles of Zoya & how she manages to find a life for herself.
Coming to my Opinions ; I liked the fact that the Author has tried to bring out the social evils. The first orthodox rule mentioned by the Author is wearing Burkha which was imposed on Zoya in order to attend the classes. Well, Wearing Burkha & covering ourself is a good thing which I feel is not a social evil. We can consider the fact that covering ourselves is a modesty & not hiding our own entity. The Family of Zoya was nowhere orthodox, infact I found them very supportive. They were just an example of typical Indian parents who loved their children yet cared for the society. Every Muslim girl can grow if she gets a family like Zoya according to me. The character of Khushi is portrayed as a Open-minded Hindu girl, but I do disagree to it because one doesn't become Hindu by wearing jeans. It would have been better if a bit of more research was done, as of now it feels, there is a limited knowledge acquired only to pen down the book. Also it was quite surprising to see how Zoya still considered her as friend when she knew she once liked Sarfaraz.
The character of Zoya is really good, she is a caring daughter & responsible too. She knows how to handle the situations. Also I loved Sana, what she encountered further was actually emotional to read & in this book, actually the Sana's part was more important than Zoya. The character of Alok is good, but it is difficult to guess if he really loved Zoya until he supported her. The readers can actually admire him once we read the circumstances in Mumbai. The story is fast paced. When I was admiring Zoya for her courage, her decision at the ending chapters seemed unfair. For me, it was kinda selfish to use a person as a support & then call ourself responsible enough not to look forward for future. The major suggestion is Zoya kept calling Alok as "Sir" till the end which was not at all necessary & doesn't match. No doubt the Author has managed to keep the readers hoooked because I wanted to know how the story progress. This book gives different experience & it is painful to read because throughout the book, we witness the struggles plus the book ends with tragedy. It hits hard. Overall it is a one time good read..
📍𝖱𝖾𝗏𝗂𝖾𝗐: This book is about a girl, Zoya and her story about how coming from a strict Islamic family she became the IPS officer. Her personal life i.e. her feelings about her professor Alok, her friends (Khushi and Sana) are also described in this book. Zoya wanted to study her UG & PG but is restricted by her family and instead her marriage is fixed with her cousin. Frustrated by all this, she decides to take a furious step of escaping. She was supported by her friends and mainly a lot by Alok. Fetching through small hurdles, she becomes an IPS officer but yet there are many unsolved questions like: 1. What about her family after she left? 2. What about her love story with Alok? 3. Will society accept Zoya after she escaping away from home?
📍𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: I completely liked the plot of the book. All the parts/sections having in this book were really engaging and I was about to shout out of anxiety at many points. But I also have many disappointments! The book completely stereotyped the Muslim religion and the comments made about the Islamic lifestyle were really very offending at some points ! There are reasons for Muslims wearing a burkha and that is the aesthetic of their religion. I understood what the author wanted to say but it was given out in an ill manner. I personally felt that the book and story portrayed, even though it was good, it did not justified the title! The ending of the book, according to me, could have been much more better and innovative. It felt like a cliffhanger. It did not gave any conclusion! I did not see the character struggling. It felt that everything was spoon-feeded. Our protagonist is an IPS officer but I didn't saw her struggle behind her preparations ! It was just so easy for her. She appeared and then cleared. She gave the interview, she got selected. And I was like what !! People go insane while preparations ! And she is all normal. There were a few spelling mistakes which put me off many times while reading a good scenario. I felt that overall the book's plot was good but it was not executed properly! There were many scopes of a better ending, for sure!
💥Points I liked : 🌺 The awareness that the author wanted to spread. 🌺 The friendship trio of Zoya, Sana and Khushi 🌺 The author's braveness to hinder such a sensitive topic.
🩸Suggestion: -The author should have done a bit of research about the Muslim culture. -The way of delivery of an idea and execution could have been better. -The ending had scope of improvement.
"Aapi, I want to search a different planet worth living, better than this earth. A planet where there is no religion, no human disparities, no wars, no boundaries, no social curtailments, no gender discrimination, only love for humanity should be there."
Firstly, I am a Muslim and I really didn't want to be biased as I read this and I have tried my best to convey my thoughts accordingly. I understand the author wants to raise awareness and encourage women to pursue their dreams, that's very commendable. I thought the depiction of Muslim and Hindu women were typical stereotypes. All Muslim women don't have such a rigid background and and all Hindu women don't have such a free lifestyle.
The language was simple and lucid. It was a short quick read. It took me through a journey filled with emotions. It made me deeply think and introspect. I'm very lucky to have such a great understanding family. The writing style was articulate. The plot was fast paced and kept me on the edge. The author had also brought in that topic of social issues like Triple Talaq. Men in India have misused this beautiful rule in Islam in a bad way and this book showed the real rules behind it and the struggles women face because of it.
"Sir, do you also believe in love." "you know Zoya, every individual in this world is unique. No two individuals in this world can be exactly the same because of our unique DNA structure. This is the reason that no other individual can replace a person. That's the reason behind love Yes, I believe in love."
The story was about Zoya who belonged to a strict orthodox muslim family. Their only interested in getting her married but Zoya persuaded her parents to let her join college. She had her best friend Sana in college with her and she befriended Kushi there. She started falling in love with her Professor Alok. They are polar opposites in all ways but Zoya felt an affinity with him. Will she pursue her dreams? Who will she marry? Will she defy the norms the society has pinned on her? Read to find out.
P.S: As a person who wears Hijab, I just want to convey, what we wear is a personal choice. No one is forcing us to wear what we wear. It is not a symbol of oppression like many people think. There is whole fashion just for hijabis, it's not just wearing a black burkha. Don't judge anyone based on what they wear.
FAB - BOOK REVIEW OF "Hello Sir Myself Zoya" by Sunil Kumar
Genre: Fiction (Contemporary, Religion-based)
Rating - 4.3/5
QOTD: What is your go-to book for your reading slump?
Heya! Because of my exams, I couldn't read much, but I am trying to read as much as possible. I feel complete and relaxed if I read, and trust me, if I don't read for one day, I think that I lack something in life, and I feel disappointed, leading to a reading slump. I have picked a new book to get through this reading slump, and that is "Hello Sir Myself Zoya" by Sunil Kumar. This book talks about a brave and strong girl Zoya and how she faced all the adverse situations in her life and achieved her dreams. She comes from a poverty class of Muslim religion family. She is forced to wear Burkha whenever she goes out. As studying is her passion, she couldn't say anything but wears the Burkha and proceeds with her education. Moreover, she is a bright student. In her adverse situations, she has Khushi and Sana, her best friends. Except for Khushi, both the two girls are from the Muslim religion. In between her Education, Sana was married to Amir and went to Gulf, and their ISIS people attacked her area, and she was taken to their location, and because she was pregnant, she could be able to come out. Likewise, Zoya's marriage was also fixed with her cousin Sarfaraz whom she treated like her brother, but as the marriage proposal came, she has no power to oppose it. As the Nikaah date is going to arrive, has only two options left Suicide or escape. She chose the latter, but where did she go? . Alok sir is her teacher in her college how supported her a lot. Zoya is a very caring daughter and sister who is very kind and empathetic. • I did not like how Khushi always made fun of the burkhas. • I did not like how the author portrayed the Zoya father's and mother's character about going out without Burkha. I felt the author can talk about the issues differently from making fun of a sensitive topic. But overall, the writing is beginner-friendly. The main plot of the story is excellent. I really liked the characterization of Zoya, and the end is 😭 ❤
This book revolves around Zoya who is born in a conservative muslim family where every action for her is scrutinized and didn't get much freedom to make decisions. Zoya aspires to be a IPS officer but her mother is not happy with sending her to a college but her father who is not only a very hardworking man but also a supportive man agrees but one condition was imposed on her that she have to wear a burkha always which is generally a choice became her obligation
We also can across the characters to Sana and Khushi. Sana and Zoya were on the same boat of struggle on the other hand Khushi lives a polar opposite lifestyle three of them are best friends. In the college Zoya also comes across Alok, her professor who is in his late twenties and feels attracted towards him, who was very helpful and supportive by nature and eventually they fell in love with eachother.
But the real challenge she faces is when she was asked to get married to her cousin brother and not taking no as an answer. Zoya was against this decision and has already made her parents post phone this wedding twice and this the only option left to her is to escape. And she did escape to Mumbai and with the help of Professor Alok she achieves and fulfills the goals and ambitions of her life and is now in a live in relationship with him but she is worried that will the religious difference be accepted by her family mean while ahe also gets to reveal aome dark secrets about her brother. Will she be able to fight again all the adversaries and fullfill her dreams? Will her love achieve a happy ending as she always believed? Her two best friend Sana and Khushi also helped her during this times for her finally emerges as a winner but she lost something in her journey too.
Zoya is a warrior and indeed an inspiring character I enjoyed reading about her journey. The characterisation and the plot development was effectively done. The narrative and how the story enfolds itself and the suspense along with its emotional ascepts entangles is nicely showcased. Will recommend it to everyone who loves reading short story revolving around a strong and determined female protagonist.

We all live in a society where more money is spent on a girl's wedding than her education. From the beginning, females are subjugated by males, they are expected to focus more on their families than their own career and if by chance any girl rebels then the whole society turns against her and do everything to make her life hell!!
And that's the story of Zoya, a Muslim girl whose only ambition was to study and make her parents proud but it was not that easy for her because the society in which lives were super orthodox, as per whom females are made to look after the family and rear kids.
But Zoya has very cooperative parents who always supported her and always want best for her, they allowed her to do graduation and attend college regularly. In her college, Zoya met a teacher, Alok Sir, who helped her in every possible way and because of their daily interactions they both started having feelings for each other. But on the other hand, her parents fixed her marriage with her cousin Sarfaraz. Will Zoya complete her graduation? Will she marry Sarfaraz? Or does destiny have something else for her?
This is not only the story of Zoya or Muslim girls, but this situation is also faced by so many girls in this country, discrimination against girls can't be categorised on the basis of religion.
The cover and the title are apt and catchy. The language used is a beginner-friendly but it has many grammatical errors, even the heading of some of the chapters are confusing. Though I liked the plot but the way it is presented turned me off. Till the mid part, the pace was average but before the climax, it picks up speed which was not required plus the story has many loopholes.
I found the book inspiring and I know the story has all the potentials and the author picked up the topic which many avoids but because of the negative points I mentioned above this book failed to touch my heart.
"I am not perfect human being, in fact nobody can be but I craved for what I thought to be the right step for my life. If you feel from the core of your heart that the society is trying to interfere in achieving your goals, stand against it, oppose its norms." . How often we come across such people who achieve their dreams by wading against their family and the society. Very few, right! Because we believe the religious and cultural norms are stronger than our individual morals and ambitions. . Zoya's story is one such life lesson. She struggles through all the societal and impractical religious evils to finally emerge as an achiever. Born in an orthodox Muslim family, Zoya had to plead for every single facet of her life. Right from seeking permission for her higher studies, making choices for her dresses and her marriage, everthing came at a price. In all that gloom, Prof. Alok proved to be her sunshine. He motivated her to pursue her dream and take a stand for herself. . This is one of the wonderful and inspiring book highlighting the gruesome acts done in the name of religion with a strong role of the so-called society. With his book, the author lets us to get some sneak peek of the everyday life challenges faced by a Muslim girl/woman. The male dominated community makes it even worse. Not to mention the Hindu-Muslim rivalries which occupy greater place in everywhere in the country, pose a threat to the upcoming generations. The writing style was smooth. Narration was somehow ranked below average. Certain grammatical mistakes clould have been taken care of through thorough proof-reading. The chosen theme and the plot shall be a delight for the readers. The intriguing content glued me untill the last page of the book and I applaud the author for his efforts and thoughts that he instilled in this book. The coverage and title speaks it all.
"SOCIETY" the most important and effective strand for our existence. Isn't it? Doesn't matter how tragic our life is, before taking any step, we always need to think, "Is it applicable and adequate for our society?"
Though the story consists of the struggle of a Muslim girl Zoya, this is the real story of many Muslim girls in our society. Zoya's struggle from the intact conservative family is not sudden and unique indeed. Our protagonist Zoya, a normal girl who wants to study and be independent. Here, her family has fixed her marriage with her own cousin Sarfaraz! Professor Alok unconditionally guides Zoya and somehow they are in love.
After reading this story I was speechless and one thought incessantly was striking in my mind that, we always forget that "Society" is made with us only. None but we made all the customary rules which became taboo in our mentality and yes, we all are actually responsible for this. How the burkha can measure the amount of respect a woman should get? Kudos to the author for selecting a very sensitive topic and penned down his thoughts very promptly. The plot is genuinely admirable.
It's my second read of author Sunil. And I always love his writing style. It's genuinely appreciating the way the concept of the story has underneath into words. The plot was very smooth and lucid words are used. The author has emphasized the prejudice of society, the wrong mentality, the struggles of Muslim women, Hindu-Muslim relationship. Perfectly everything has been enclosed through this story. Hence undoubtedly this book is the eye-opener for all orthodox in this tribe. It was a great time with this book and its ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5 read of this month. The cover is beautiful and the title has a direct connection with the plot. I will recommend this book to everybody. This is a must-try!
This is the second book I am perusing by the writer I had partaken in the previous one wrote by him which was named The White Collar. So was very thrilled to peruse this one too as I like his straightforward portrayal style and the length of his books are extremely millennial peruses. So last evening I began my read to thoroughly understand Zoya
The story is of a young lady named Zoya who has a place from a universal Muslim family. Its her excursion to fill throughout everyday life and satisfy her aspirations. While her folks aspiration is to get her hitched and hers is to be an expert, teach herself and be monetarily autonomous. Her excursion alongside her two companions and the battle against the society and their rigid belief systems. Additionally her heartfelt journey where she falls head over heels for her professor Alok who is a Hindu and the difficulties they face.
I would like to quote a quote from the book which very well explains relationships in life and has remained with me from the book “Sir, do you believe in love” “You know Zoya, every individual in this world is unique. No two individuals in this world can be exactly the same because of our unique DNA structure. This is the reason that no other individual can replace a person. That’s the reason behind love yes, I believe in love.”
when you read the book you understand that even in an advanced present reality some place in the general public an equal inflexible world actually exist who follow strange convictions and frameworks. The title just as the cover summarizes the book appropriately. Its a short read with a weighty subject however the writer yet with his portrayal style has executed it well and it’s a book that can be recommended to fledglings as well.
"Hello sir myself Zoya" by Sunil Kumar is an interesting read with a social message. This book insists on the rights denied to the woman in Islamic community.
Zoya Khan is the protagonist. She belongs to a muslim family and lives in a highly dominating muslim locality. After convincing her parents, she goes to her college to attend lectures. Sana and Khushi are her best friends who belong to muslim and hindu community respectively. In her college, a young Hindu professor named Alok helps her lot in her studies.
Slowly their talks extends other than studies. Zoya and Alok develops feelings for eachother. Meanwhile Zoya's family arranges Nikka with elderly brother of Zoya. She feels awkward and doesn't like that nikka.
One day, Alok gets a new job in Mumbai and leaves the city. What happens next? Will Zoya hold the hands of her love for ever despite of the religious difference? Or will she agree to the Nikka arranged by her parents? Will she succed in her studies?
This book has brought out the struggle of woman from muslim community in to the light. I didn't know how woman from different religions suffer on the rules that were imposed on them until I read this book. I loved the part from Sana's diary, which was very emotional and touching.
Language is lucid. This is a fast paced read. Narration is done well. Gripping plot. Keeps the reader glued to the book. And for me, it is an one sit read. Cover and tittle is apt.
But still, the book has few drawbacks. Editing and proofreading would have been with care. Character development was lagging. Alok character would have given little more importantance. The character Khushi, was not explained properly.
Book Name- Hello Sir Myself Zoya Author- Sunil Kumar Review- ‘Hello Sir Myself Zoya' is a book featuring the struggle of girls from Muslim Community and how religion still poses an obstacle in the way of love even today has been highlighted in the book. Our protagonist Zoya is an intelligent and a shy girl who wants to live a life full of freedom but at the same time doesn’t want to go against her parents. With the zeal to study and support her family financially she urged her parents to allow her to complete her graduation. How much ever a girl progresses even in today’s era the decisions related to her marriage and same is the case with Zoya who is trapped in the unfair tradition of society where a woman is only meant for reproducing and building a career is considered a waste of time. One gets to know what actually goes through such girls while reading this book. An escape is all we can think about but in reality it is the last option one can think of. The bond between Alok Sir and Zoya was completely different then what I expected as it depicted unconstitutional love in the purest form. The bond they shared was totally different then what is picturized in the minds of today’s youth. I don’t prefer love stories much but this was completely different and worth reading as portrays what is the actual meaning of love. The ups and downs in her life made me think how blessed we are as there are not many restrictions for a girl child as in her community. The most important message that can be drawn from this book is the fact that time literally slips out of our hands and we must make the most of it, express our feelings, do what we love before its too late. It is a must read for everyone. Ratings- Title- 4/5 Cover- 4/5 Narration- 5/5 Concept- 5/5 Overall- 4/5
